1977-2006

In the 2006[12]and 2001[11]state assembly elections, Jajneswar Das of CPI(M) won the Pathapratima assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Samir Kumar Jana of Trinamool Congress. Contests in most years were multi cornered but only winners and runners are being mentioned. Gopal Krishna Dey of Congress won the seat in 1996[10]defeating Janmejay Manna of CPI(M). In 1991[9] Janmejay Manna of CPI(M) defeated Banabehari Patra of Congress. Gunadhar Maity of CPI(M) won the seat in 1987,[8] 1982[7] and 1977 defeating Ananta Kumar Bera of Congress.[6][15]

1967-1972

Satya Ranjan Bapuly of Congress won in 1972.[5]Rabin Mondal of SUC won in 1971,[4]1969[3]and 1967[2](shown as Independent in 1967 in Election Commission records). Prior to that the Patharpratima constituency was not there.
