Context
[edit]I suggest you write the context of these massacres. It is OK if it was only a list, but the reader needs an explantion/context of what is happening. I mean, puting these attacks on perspective is more useful than listing news reeports. Just a suggestion, Cheers, BatteryIncluded (talk) 20:50, 13 May 2012 (UTC)
Past incidents
[edit]I fail to see any direct relevance of this massacre to the ones listed in the 'past incidents' section, and I suggest that the contents of this section be ejected to another article, perhaps entitled '2011-12 episodes in the Mexican drug war'. --Ohconfucius ¡digame! 04:29, 14 May 2012 (UTC)
- Well, the Cadereyta Jiménez massacre is technically just a follow up of the recent massacres between Los Zetas and the Sinaloa-Gulf cartels. Basically, one cartel does a killing to send a message, then the other one does the same too. That's why I included them in the article. Not to mention that the newspapers talk about the 'past incidents' when reporting on this one too. [1] ComputerJA (talk) 04:50, 14 May 2012 (UTC)
- I just added some info explaining how the past incidents were responses done by the cartels. Thanks for point that out. Let me know if anything comes up. ComputerJA (talk) 05:16, 14 May 2012 (UTC)
- I think it would sit better as background information. Just thinking out loud, how about summarising the whole section and moving it into the background? --Ohconfucius ¡digame! 06:07, 14 May 2012 (UTC)
- Sure, we could do that too. I just don't want for important information to be left out, that's all. That was my main reason for doing the past incidents section. It's hard for me to see exactly how you're picturing it, so I'll give you the honors to make the changes yourself. Thanks. ComputerJA (talk) 06:17, 14 May 2012 (UTC)
- I've done a radical overhaul. None of the previous information was lost - it's been ejected to 2011–2012 in the Mexican Drug War. I'm still trying to pare down the background, which I think should eventually be half the length it is today. Let me know what you think. --Ohconfucius ¡digame! 10:00, 14 May 2012 (UTC)
- I think you did a good clean up. Go ahead and jump into any moves you feel are necessary in this article. Stay in touch. Thank you! ComputerJA (talk) 16:17, 14 May 2012 (UTC)

Spanish-speaking articles
[edit]Most of the citations that I will use for info on this article will be in Spanish, because the Spanish-speaking newspapers are covering every detail of this massacre, while the English newspapers only cover the actual incident. It happened to me at the Apodaca prison riot article. The 'Aftermath' section, along with the 'Reactions' if those killed end up being migrants from Central and South America, will most likely have Spanish sources to it. The details of the 'Investigations' section will most likely be in Spanish too. Sorry for the inconvenience. If you guys are concerned with anything, shoot me a message at my talk page. I'll be more than glad to show the exact portions of where I got my info. Thank you. ComputerJA (talk) 07:20, 15 May 2012 (UTC)
Media use
[edit]It's a shame there aren't any suitable images to use. I'm not an expert, but I believe that covers of newspapers cannot be exploited as fair use images in articles other than those of the journals themselves. --Ohconfucius ¡digame! 03:14, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
I'd suggest creating some maps of various levels of detail pinpointing the location of the towns and where the bodies were dumped. --Ohconfucius ¡digame! 03:49, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
- I know. There aren't any suitable images to put here. That's why I made sure to buy the two newspapers to at least have some visual images. But I really hope they are eligible and are able to stay. ComputerJA (talk) 06:06, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
- Yep, thanks for taking the trouble to do that. You may have noticed that I have found an actual image whose use I believe we can justify under historical fair use for the 2012 Nuevo Laredo massacres article. I have also incorporated a map, which helps to make the article more 'appealing', for want of a better word. --Ohconfucius ¡digame! 06:12, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
- I think the picture you uploaded is a lot better. But do you think we should write more on the description? It might get deleted for trivial reasons or for no reason at all. ComputerJA (talk) 06:47, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
- Perhaps. I couldn't find a sufficiently representative or remarkable picture for the Cadereyta Jiménez massacre, but I guess the point of the Nuevo Laredo massacre was out to grab the other gangs' attention, not to mention the public's. The scene of a body hanging from each notch on the railing on the overpass is itself almost iconic. --Ohconfucius ¡digame! 08:07, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
Actual perpetrator: Gulf Cartel, not Los Zetas
[edit]Well, just like I had thought, the Gulf Cartel was most likely the perpetrator of the massacre, not Los Zetas. This information has not been officially confirmed by the authorities, but they are aware that the 8 Gulf Cartel members captured on 17 May 2012 near Cadereyta may have been involved in the massacre. Here are all the links in Spanish about the new information. I'll take care of it as soon as the authorities confirm the information. It won't be long for them to make it official. [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] [9] [10] ComputerJA (talk) 06:12, 18 May 2012 (UTC)
- This article sums up the situation pretty well. Basically, no one knows who carried out the massacre. [11] ComputerJA (talk) 06:23, 18 May 2012 (UTC)
- Turns out that Los Zetas were the actual perpetrators. Here we go again. [12] ComputerJA (talk) 02:45, 23 May 2012 (UTC)
- Interesting. So where's the confusion coming from, the police or the press? --Ohconfucius ¡digame! 03:42, 23 May 2012 (UTC)
- I'd say both. It all happened because the massacre was planned out by Los Zetas with the sole purpose of blaming the Gulf cartel. And it makes sense, because it would seem very unlikely for Los Zetas to dump so many bodies on their own turf (Nuevo León state). Either way, it's funny to see how Los Zetas shot their own foot :D ComputerJA (talk) 05:44, 23 May 2012 (UTC)
Close paraphrasing
[edit]Please note that with this edit, I removed one sentence which seemed almost identical to the source from which it was cited. It is of great importance to avoid the practice of copying from sources in this way. --Ohconfucius ¡digame! 04:37, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
Mass graves
[edit]I seek clarification on the term "mass graves" used in the 'Arrests' subsection of the article. The text, and the use of this term, have me a little confused because it seems to imply graves/sites each with many corpses buried inside. But I seem to understand from the text that, five bodies were found, each buried in a separate grave. If this is made clear, I can then perform further copyediting on the article. --Ohconfucius ¡digame! 06:35, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
- You have it right. The five bodies were buried in separate graves. ComputerJA (talk) 06:53, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
- And what is the relevance of "the ranch known as La Gloria" to this story? Is it the place where the mass graves were found? --Ohconfucius ¡digame! 06:45, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, it's the place exact ranch where the bodies were found. I guess it isn't really that important since we already mentioned China, NL. ComputerJA (talk) 06:53, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
Bodies not identified... and will be sent to local graveyard
[edit]Here's some news on the failing investigation. [13] ComputerJA (talk) 07:44, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
