– Okay, so among all the Chris Youngs:

By comparison, Chris Young (singer) had 18,224. That's more than all the other Chris Youngs combined, and nearly 4 12 times as many views as the pitcher.

Also, I count 123 articles linking to Chris Young (singer), versus:

  • 10 for American Football
  • 2 for Footballer
  • ~100 for the outfielder, but most are transclusions from the Arizona Diamondbacks navbox
  • over 100 for the pitcher, but again, most of these are due to a navbox
  • 14 for the rugby player
  • 18 for the actor

Also, a Google search for "Chris Young" puts the singer at higher precedence than everyone else — all but one hit on the first page alone is for the singer.

If the pitcher and outfielder have similar numbers of inbound links, but barely one-fifth the traffic, then it is clear that even with such a common name, the "Chris Young" that most people are looking for is the singer. The traffic count alone shows him to be by far the most popular Chris Young on Wikipedia; if one page is getting more traffic than all the others put together, than that one page should clearly get the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. Ten Pound Hammer(What did I screw up now?)

  • Support - I believe this is a good idea. More people are most likely searching for the singer when looking up Chris Young. --Caldorwards4 (talk) 21:11, 8 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support: after reading through Wikipedia:Requested moves and the disambiguation page, I was astonished to find that this was proposed to be moved, due to the number of articles with "Chris Young". But yes, after reading the rationale, the singer indeed appears to be the primary topic, and the views seem to support this. Till 12:31, 9 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 2[edit]

The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: Moved. Those who commented below are unanimous. Editors claim that the page view stats are no longer so one-sided as in the last RM debate. It no longer seems that the singer gets the absolute majority of all hits for the various Chris Youngs. It would be surprising that one person gets to take over such a common name unless they completely swamp the other uses of the name. EdJohnston (talk) 00:45, 24 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Chris YoungChris Young (musician) – There are many Chris Youngs, and the majority of views are of the others in aggregate ... Chris Young (musician) should direct to Chris Young (disambiguation), which should be what people searching for "Chris Young" see first. While there are a number of other Chris Youngs, even just adding the views of Chris Young (pitcher), Chris Young (actor), and Christopher Young we come up with more views than the musician received over the past 30 days. Chris Young (musician)Chris Young (singer) – Per WP:SINGERDAB, Use "(singer)" when the person solely sings songs or is mostly known for singing songs. Chris Young is primarily a singer/vocalist, and the dab should reflect this accordingly. Ten Pound Hammer(What did I screw up now?) 18:18, 30 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
