Unsourced inaccurate claim[edit]

It says that he was named the best player of the 1958 World Cup, but no source is given, and no best player was announced for this tournament, just for top scorer and best young player. He did not win either. DrStatham99 (talk) 22:41, 27 October 2017 (UTC)23:41, 27/10/2017[reply]

Contradiction[edit]

There seems to be a contradiction between the sentence "He is also known as the first person to call the game The Beautiful Game." and what is said in the entry with the title "The Beautiful Game". According to this entry the phrase "The Beautiful Game" was first said by Didi. However, when we go to the entry "The Beautiful Game", it was first said by Pele. Which one is correct? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.131.146.226 (talk) 21:03, 30 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

downswerve bending goalscoring kicks[edit]

Requested move 8 July 2019[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Moved. See general agreement below to further qualify the subject of this article with "(footballer, born 1928)". Kudos to editors for your input, and Happy Publishing! (nac by page mover) Paine Ellsworthed. put'r there  19:05, 17 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Didi (footballer)Didi (footballer, born 1928) – Although the most prominent of all the Didis listed at Didi#People, partial disambiguation is now incorrect. © Tbhotch (en-2.5). 04:31, 8 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose per WP:PRIMARYTOPIC and WP:CONCISE. Didi gets about 96 pageviews per day, compared to 8 per day for all 6 other footballers combined.[1] There is no benefit to sending someone searching for or linking to Didi (footballer) to a dab page. Station1 (talk) 06:31, 8 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support, the current title does not sufficiently disambiguate and there is currently no primary topic for "Didi". This article used to be at Valdir Pereira which still receives a lot of page views, and I have no reason to believe that people are actually searching for "Didi (footballer)" in order to reach this article. —Xezbeth (talk) 06:49, 8 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It would be far better to move him back to Valdir Pereira per WP:NATURAL than to the proposed name. People are more likely to recognize his real name than know what year he was born. Years are recommended only as a last resort at WP:NCPDAB. - Station1 (talk) 07:40, 8 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
    • I doubt even many die-hard football fans would know/recognise his real name. Like most Brazilian players, he was universally known by his nickname -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 08:28, 17 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Note: This discussion has been included in WikiProject Football's list of association football-related page moves. GiantSnowman 08:31, 8 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support - not the only footballer by this name, and no significant notability/importance that justifies being a PRIMARYTOPIC. GiantSnowman 08:33, 8 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nom and possibly move back to Valdir Pereira. Crouch, Swale (talk) 11:37, 8 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
