Dated photo

I just wondered whether the 3 year old photo is really necessary on such a small page. If the page were larger and contained more info on past storylines relating to these older characters I could understand, but as it is I do not feel that it add anything really. Perhaps listing the names of the cast under the more recent photo would be more useful? Holypeanut 15:16, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

New talent?

Should the Trivia section be edited/removed as I believe Emmerdale now also names all of it's episodes, and therefore it cannot be claimed as the "only one"? Garej (talk) 16:13, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Notability must be asserted through third-party sources. If you understand that, I suggest you ease off your contributions and lurk for a while until you get a better grasp of our conventions. There are some well-written character articles about The Simpsons, for example. There are some terrible, appalling, embarrassing, foul articles about soap opera characters. you should not add to the problem by creating more. Thanks. The JPStalk to me 18:02, 2 August 2009 (UTC)

2,000th episode

I've rewritten the article as some information had been duplicated at the bottom. I have also removed the elongated information for the 2,000th episode, which was badly written and unneeded as no other show, and no other soap, has this information for a specific episode. Need reliable sources

IMDb is user-edited, and only rare information is labeled "verified". Please provide independent WP:Reliable sources in addition to IMDb. Also, http://www.tvstudiohistory.co.uk is a personal website - these, per WP:RS, are generally not accepted. Article title

I was wondering whether or not this article should be renamed. I thought that "Doctors (soap opera)" or "Doctors (serial drama)" may be a better title. I'm not sure the use of "2000" is all that great seeings as it is an ongoing series.Rain the 1 17:38, 6 June 2012 (UTC)

I thought this too. It might be worth looking into getting the article moved to "Doctors". If that can't happen then I would go for "Doctors (soap opera)". Well "Doctors" would be ideal - but would they let that happen and what would we need to do to raise the discussion about that? If not, I would support "Doctors (soap opera)"Rain the 1 21:43, 6 June 2012 (UTC)

I pretty sure there will be many programmes called simply 'Doctors', I'd suggest something like Doctors (UK TV series). Bleaney (talk) 14:29, 10 June 2012 (UTC)

Well Doctors (soap opera) has been voted three times, however I think we all prefer Doctors, there are quite a few links to Doctors though however some just seem to be miss linking, such as when people say; "This town has four doctors" which seems to be a common thing. So, we may have to discuss whether we think we can move, such as other programmes were called The Doctors (1969 TV series). — M.Mario (T/C) 20:36, 17 June 2012 (UTC)

All done and I have put in a AWB request to fix all of the links. However, just one question. I am going to rename List of awards and nominations received by Doctors (2000 TV series). However, do you think it should be Doctors or Doctors (soap opera)? It just seems to read a bit wrong if it says only Doctors, as per the character pages, as it suggests that it is about doctors in general rather than the show. I would appreciate your views, thanks. Just to let you know, having been approved for AWB, I have fixed all 700+ links to reflect the name change. Also, I have moved the awards page and fixed these links too, so everything is nice and tidy now. Adamiow (talk) 18:08, 25 September 2012 (UTC)

The naming guidelines don't allow for "soap opera" to be used as disambiguation. I've moved it to Doctors (2000 TV series), but personally I think Doctors (TV series) is sufficient enough, in the same way that Doctor (film) is considered suitably disambiguated from The Doctor (1991 film) and The Doctor (2013 film). I'm assuming that the reason it wasn't at Doctors (TV series) in the first place was because of assumed ambiguity with The Doctors (TV series), but I think the hatnote clears that up. --Rob Sinden (talk) 08:12, 7 August 2014 (UTC)

I think you're misrepresenting this. Is a one-season Korean TV drama really more well known in the English speaking world than a popular British soap opera that has broadcast 3.5k episodes in 17 years and regularly pulls in an audience of over 2m? --woodensuperman 13:34, 7 November 2017 (UTC)

  • Support - Doctor Crush only ran for a month and 3 days and so as such there's no need to disambiguate nor is there any PRIMARYTOPIC for it - The UK show is by far the most notable and so as per PRIMARYTOPIC should be moved, Had DC ran for more than a month then there would be a need to disambiguate but not for this sorry. –Davey2010Talk 13:18, 4 November 2017 (UTC)
    There's no such thing as a WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for a particular disambiguation method like (TV series). If something is a PRIMARYTOPIC, it gets the undisambiguated name.
