Possiblities

[edit]

Purpose

[edit]
  • This is needed so that people who refer to "dogs" or "domestic dogs" may form phrases such as "dingos are dogs" without equating valid taxa, ie, without saying "C.l.familiaris=C.l.dingo. In other cases, such as speaking of "dingoes interbreeding with domestic dogs", one can link to the article dog.Chrisrus (talk) 01:59, 7 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • How about relocating the article to dog? Would that not be more appropriate (and I am just suggesting this I am not any authority on where anything belongs)? l santry (talk) 12:56, 13 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Dog is about Canis lupus familiaris only. There is also the other subspecies of domestic dog, Canis lupus dingo. The term "domestic dog", is used in Mammal Species of the World and by articles such as Dingo to refer to both at the same time. Chrisrus (talk) 13:01, 13 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
