PS3 release?
[edit]I don't see anything about a PS3 release on the official site [1]. The PS3 isn't even out yet, and won't be out until November. It might be ported (FN will probably debut on PS3 with Round 4, though), but for now I'm removing the claim from the article. TaintedMustard 11:28, 9 February 2006(UTC)
Release Date
[edit]I originally cited a release date of February 22, 2006, since that is what it says on the official website. [2] (upper right-hand corner). Then someone changed it to February 21, and now the main article says Feb. 21 and the infobox says Feb. 17. I didn't notice the first change myself until two different dates were given. I'm changing both back to February 22. TaintedMustard 22:05, 18 February 2006 (UTC)
Article needs clean-up and attention
[edit]I can't speak to the 360 version, but I recently purchased the version for the original Xbox. After spending a little time with it, I came to this article, and I was a bit disappointed. I'm going to play through the career mode and then get to work correcting and adding (relevant) information, as well as creating a Critical Response section and hunting down reviews. If anyone could do that for me, though, it would be appreciated; I hate gaming sites.
For now, I'm going to delete the "Career Basics" section, since, in its current state, I'm not sure it adds much to the article. It's far too informal and reads like a review or part of a strategy guide. 68.9.205.10 03:05, 16 March 2006 (UTC) (TaintedMustard)
Advertisment?
[edit]"As the new-generation games are finally being released to the Xbox 360, Fight Night: Round 3 is a must have for the total boxing experience in a boxing simulator."
That whole section sounds like it's been taken right off of the site, or an ad in a magazine, especially that part. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Revadarth (talk • contribs)
- I concur, I've never played the game myself but came here to find out what it was like and noticed it read like an advertisement. Ive added an NPOV-section-check to see if anyone with a bit more game experience can fix it up, if not within 7 days then I will try my best -Trjn 16:51, 7 April 2006 (UTC)
- I made an attempt to fix it, it may still suck.--Attitude2000 17:59, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
PS2 and Xbox 360 are a tie
[edit]I still believe that PS2 will never give up without a fight against Xbox 360. My PS2 vows to keep fighting back Xbox 360 and the PS2 needs to become a Level 2 Playstation. Fight Night Round 3 is still the best game, even thought they are identical.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 205.246.11.130 (talk • contribs)
- That's fantastic. What exactly are you trying to say and how does it benefit the article? --JOK3R 14:53, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
Well, I do hope my PlayStation 2 will be upgraded to PlayStation 2 HD in order to fight back Xbox 360, my friend. This game was great, but the flaws still remain. See the article PlayStation 2 disscusion to see the bottom of the page. Best gamer 30 July 2006
Julio Cesar Chavez
[edit]Why Julio Cesar Chavez is not on this game? Es una lastima ya que el es el mejor boxeador de Mexico. MarioV 20:18, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
- I'm not exactly sure what is the criteria for making Fight Night, but I bet it has a lot to do with money.--Attitude2000 18:00, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
OXM
[edit]"Official Xbox Magazine awarded Fight Night Round 3 with a perfect 10 score. This is the first Xbox or Xbox 360 game that received a perfect score of 10 apart from Halo2 from OXM."
I believe that Halo 2 got a 9.7, not a ten.[3]
If you scroll down, you can see that OXM gave Halo 2 a 97, and on the original cover, it says that three games could have gotten the first 10 from OXM ever, and Fight Night Round 3 is up there. --Revadarth 9:05, 5 June 2006 (UTC)
Well that's not a 10.--Attitude2000 00:26, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
- Fight Night's 10 from OXM caused such an uproar from readers that the EIC put an editorial in the letters section wherein she said that officially OXM has an 11 point scale, which is why Fight Night 3 could be given a 10. 204.69.40.13 16:34, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
Alright now, where's the CABs at? anyone got a site or upload they want to share of created boxers?—Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.80.84.114 (talk • contribs)
Burger King sponsorship
[edit]While brands for boxing apparel like Everlast is expected, "sponsorship" by Dodge and Burger King is regarded as excessive.
I agree with this, but is there perhaps a need to mention why it is excessive? The Dodge advertisement didn't grate too badly with me, but the Burger King trainer being the best trainer, and somehow "increasing your heart" seems like perhaps a step too far. I would add information about this to the article myself, but, despite owning and completing this game, let's just say I am not EA's biggest fan. --Dreaded Walrus 00:04, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
- Ah. I've found a news/preview piece that cites the same concern as me about the whole Burger King thing, as well as other things about the game, as is expected from a preview.
- Also, I found two other interesting bits of criticism about the game. I don't have the PSP version, so I don't have any first-hand experience with any of these. --Dreaded Walrus 00:21, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
PLAYSTATION 3 Version
[edit]The PS3 version comes out today. Anyone have it and want to update the article? If not I can do it tomorrow or Friday. Cmsjustin 13:22, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
Fight Store
[edit]So are Big E, Goliath, and KO Rey Mo's gloves and shoes not available to buy in the fight store, or is there something special you need to do? I can't find anything online about this... Ultron5000 (talk) 17:47, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
Last section of "Critical Reception"
[edit]What does any of this mean, let alone have to do with the game's critical reception? "There are some things that the player can take notice such as how you see that there are little flashes from cameras but then you'll see a huge one like there's a giant camera there. Also when you back all the way up to where you can see the whole ring, notice there is no referee visible. Most say that the view is what the referee sees." At the very least, this needs to be researched, referenced, and rewritten. 12.69.202.2 (talk) 17:18, 2 September 2008 (UTC)Dylan
Roster
[edit]why cant we have a list of boxers in the game on this article? i've typed it twice and its been deleted twice. when purchasing a boxing game its nice to know who is on it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 149.168.204.10 (talk) 23:15, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
- Ah, sorry about not responding to this sooner. I only just noticed it. You are correct that when purchasing a game, a list of characters is interesting information. However, Wikipedia is not a game guide, and it is not our job to try and sell a game. A list of boxers in a game (or a list of characters in another game) does not add encyclopedic value to an article. Dreaded Walrus t c 06:31, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
thanks for clearing that up. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 149.168.204.10 (talk) 00:00, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
- No problem! If you have any questions in future, or need help with something, feel free to drop me a line, and I'll see what I can do. :) Dreaded Walrus t c 00:06, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
