Talk:Hill's Pet Nutrition
References for the use of the name Hill's Pet Nutrition
[edit]The earliest use of the name Hill's Pet Nutrition was in 1994. When Colgate-Palmolive merged with Riviana Food the company was still referred to as Hill Packing Company.
The state of Kansas shows the original application to use this name was on the 11 January 1993
Delaware has a Hills Pet Nutrition with an incorporation date of the 12 May 1969 FILE # 0712623
This leads me to believe Riviana Foods changed or added the name.
Isn't it misleading to refer to Burton Hill's company and their activities in the early 1900s as Hill's Pet Nutrition? The Pet Nutrition aspect comes from Dr. Mark Morris Sr. in the 1940s, who later contracted the Hill Packing Company to can his dog food.
The company was an existing pet food company before Dr. Mark Morris Sr. The ownership of the current company (factory) is clearly descended from Burton Hill's company. The product first produced KD Diet and the marketing directly to vets. was a major innovation in the industry. That said Hill's pet nutrition still produces and sells "plan" dog food.
I have copies of the agreement between Hill's and Dr. Morris. I'll try to post them to the talk in the next few days. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.255.176.81 (talk) 01:50, 29 August 2016 (UTC)

[edit]not sure if the following was done in conjunction with hill's pet nutrition or separately. If separately it seems that it belongs in an entry for Mark Morris but not Hill pet nutrition. "Working off his belief that animals with different medical conditions had different dietary needs, he also created a diet for animals with heart problems, and a diet for animals with digestive problems. Dr. Morris' son, Mark Morris Jr. DVM, PhD continued his work to include diets for overweight animals, and for animals with urinary tract problems, as well as launching a range of zoo animal diets, now known as ZuPreem."—Preceding unsigned comment added by Vincentdavis (talk • contribs)
