I'd prefer it if you put "p" in front of the page numbers in the references. Also, if you're basing line after line on information gleaned from one or two pages of the same book I think you should use passim and seriously reduce the number of references. More work needed

I'm not sure if this article still meets the GA criteria. I was going to mention that Floyd commuted the death sentences of two enslaved women accused of murdering their children, per the Nunley book i've cited elsewhere (p. 128) before returning it to the library. I couldn't figure where to put it, since the article needs a major reorganization IMHO. In particular it goes back and forth about his stance re slavery. I noted it citing the problematic Washington post article about many former congressmen owning slaves in a sentence about Floyd owning 4 slaves in Christiansburg in 1810. Citing the census for numbers would seem more responsible, since what I remember of the article it consisted of a list of congressmen rather than their slaveholdings. And while sometimes residents are missed during censuses, there were a couple more in his lifetime, plus slaves could've been mentioned in his will or by his descendents, who were mentioned in considerable detail early (rather than late) in the article. This man was governor during the aftermath of Nat Turner's rebellion, and merely mentioning it in passing doesn't seem enough. I'm writing here because I don't know when I can find the time for the needed cleanup.Jweaver28 (talk) 21:16, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
