Seriously. What a totally lame article for such an AMAZING artist! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.234.226.76 (talk) 16:43, 8 August 2013 (UTC)
Porn shops
[edit]I noticed that the "porn shops" doesn't match the footnote so I removed it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.103.214.64 (talk) 07:20, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
CAKE?

Requested move 5 May 2016
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: Consensus seems to show that John McCrea should be moved to John McCrea (comics) and John McCrea (disambiguation) be moved to John McCrea. No consensus supporting the move of John McCrea (musician). (non-admin closure). Anarchyte (work | talk) 09:37, 24 May 2016 (UTC)
– -I think it is quite likely that the musician is the primary topic. He gets the most pageviews for "John McCrea" by a large margin (86%), and has long-term significance as a member of a band active for decades. Disagree with that? Well, I think you'll probably agree that the John McCrea currently occupying the undisambiguated page is not the primary topic, as his pageviews are minor; even at the undisambiguated page he only manages an astonishingly low 10% for all things John McCrea. Nohomersryan (talk) 16:17, 5 May 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose first - i.e. oppose ambiguation of musician, Support second i.e. support disambiguation of comic book writer. Move John McCrea (disambiguation) to plain name space; Doing sudden flips between two of several names on a common name list for No.1 slots isn't helpful to anyone linking to Wikipedia. Nor to anyone else. In ictu oculi (talk) 18:14, 5 May 2016 (UTC)

- Oppose the singer becoming the primary topic for now, though the comics man is not. Taylor Trescott - my talk + my edits 02:18, 8 May 2016 (UTC)
- Support as proposed per WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. The singer is clearly what a vast majority of readers are looking for. The comics illustrator is not.--Cúchullain t/c 16:17, 13 May 2016 (UTC)

Inadequate notice
[edit]Really, there should have been some notice of this discussion on Talk:John McCrea (disambiguation), which is now Talk:John McCrea. No one seems to have paid the slightest attention to WP:FIXDABLINKS. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 21:15, 24 May 2016 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: No consensus for move at this time. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 12:49, 18 April 2017 (UTC)
– We're coming up on one year of the illustrator being moved from the undisambiguated title, and the musician is still quite obviously the primary topic, with 89% of pageviews (compared to 86% last time around). Now that "sudden flips" is no longer an issue, there's no reason not to give readers what they're looking for. Nohomersryan (talk) 05:26, 10 April 2017 (UTC)
- Support per nom, clearly and consistently the primary topic. Jellyman (talk) 10:06, 10 April 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose. Absolutely no clear primary topic here. He's not that well-known. Page views down to pure WP:RECENTISM. -- Necrothesp (talk) 16:01, 12 April 2017 (UTC)
- I really don't think that's true, the band has been around for 23 years and haven't released an album in 6 years. Nohomersryan (talk) 11:42, 13 April 2017 (UTC)
- Weak oppose - The article quality of the musician bio isn't that great. Most viewed or not, the musician isn't well known or significant enough to be primary. BTW, I got confused with Joel McCrea, the actor. --George Ho (talk) 12:23, 17 April 2017 (UTC)
- Support − I opposed the last time, but that was because I was not all that into the idea of swapping the pages around. This time, there's no such barrier, and the musician meets WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. Taylor Trescott - my talk + my edits 00:25, 18 April 2017 (UTC)

= Single LP
[edit]Yeah, that Undo-Bot changed my correction, because of ... well. Regarding this sentence:
"In the late 1980s, McCrea moved to Los Angeles and began playing acoustically in local coffee shops.[3] His first solo release was a double-sided single on vinyl only called Rancho Seco. One side was electric and the other acoustic. The LP was a protest song against the now-decommissioned nuclear power plant Rancho Seco built southeast of Sacramento. "
A single ain't an LP (Longplayer). So I changed it accordingly, it was a single. He changed it back. That proves, A.I. is far away from taking over the world. But it leaves the mistake in the article. 95.90.115.121 (talk) 09:52, 1 August 2018 (UTC)
