Leaks
[edit]Does this need to be included for unreleased songs? If so, a source that the song was recorded is not good enough to say that it leaked. The fact the song leaked would also require a citation of its own, and linking to a site containing said leak would be illegal, so it's probably not possible to cite all of these and therefore better to remove them. –anemoneprojectors– 13:31, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
- They are on Youtube. And no, they can stay. I promoted List of songs recorded by Rihanna to FL and it follows the same structure. Aaron • You Da One 14:20, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
- So you don't think they should be referenced? They most certainly should. But linking to YouTube would breach Wikipedia's policies on external links (WP:ELNEVER "Material that violates the copyrights of others per contributors' rights and obligations should not be linked.") In fact you appear to have breached that one on the Rihanna list. –anemoneprojectors– 14:27, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
- Some are, because there is a source, and some aren't, because there isn't a source by a website. I haven't put any Youtube links in at all, on either article, so I haven't breached anything. Aaron • You Da One 16:12, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
- Youtube isn't the only site that can breach copyright. Any website that features the leaked song surely is breaching copyright, right? I picked a random link on the Rihanna page and found a leaked song on it, available to listen to. –anemoneprojectors– 12:32, 28 March 2012 (UTC)

Removal of ASCAP.
[edit]As ASCAP no longer link to the songs anymore, I've had to remove the following as they are not on BMI/I can't find an alternate source for the writers:
Released:
- "I Know Who I Am" (Gregory William Barnhill, Joanna Cotten, Melissa Toni Manchester), For Colored Girls: Music From and Inspired
by the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, 2010. - "Love is Your Color" (Claude Kelly, Michael R. Mentore, Salaam Remi), Sex and the City 2: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
and
I Remember Me, 2010. - "I See You" (James Horner, Kuk Harrell, Simon Franglen), Avatar: Music from the Motion Picture, 2009.
Unreleased:
- "Happy" Remix ft. Ehstar (E. Kidd Bogart, Kevin Tate, Leona Lewis, Ryan Tedder).
- "Most Beautiful Man in the World" (Brent Kutzle, Noel Zancanella, Ryan Tedder)*
- "Mountains" ([[Emeli Sandé], James Murray, Mustafa Omer, Shahid Khan).
- "Perfection" (Josh Berman, Leona Lewis, Ruth Cunningham, William Steinburg)
- "Trouble" (Emeli Sandé, Harry Craze, Hugo Chegwin, Shahid Khan). Confirmed as the second single from Glassheart, Leona has stated in interviews that Sande co-wrote.
- "Stay" (Leona Lewis, Nina Woodford, Salaam Remi).

Requested move

List of Leona Lewis songs → List of songs recorded by Leona Lewis – There is no logical reason that the article title should not reflect precisely what is contained in the article. To revert unnecessary move..Richhoncho (talk) 06:48, 25 August 2012 (UTC)
- Comment Given that this affects a large number of lists and there has been a bit of debate around it, perhaps it would be more worthwhile to start a discussion at WP:MUSIC or somewhere similar rather than on the talk page of a couple of articles and a user talk page? Then we could come to a consensus for all of the lists. Sanders11 (talk) 17:06, 25 August 2012 (UTC)
- I have a deep foreboding of irony. As there are 21 different stylised article titles in the category, including Songs by X, X songs, Written by, produced by, Repertoire of, written and produced, played on, covered by, original by etc it conclusively proves that there cannot and has never been harmonisation of article titles within this category. This particular article is FL-class, specifically says its a list of recordings, so why shouldn't that be article title? It was what was intended, it is reflected in the lead and would still be if we didn't have editors who don't believe in consensus. Send this article back where it belongs. FWIW, you are the first person who has commented adversely in this matter, besides Justin, that is. Cheers. --Richhoncho (talk) 17:28, 25 August 2012 (UTC)
- Actually I have no issue with it being called songs recorded by Lewis when it's in this form, I suggested list of Lewis songs during the FLC as an attempt to help solve the issue with the unreleased material. My concern is when unreleased material is included it is difficult to reference that someone recorded a song and didn't just write it. Sanders11 (talk) 20:54, 25 August 2012 (UTC)
- There are several issues with naming, and as I do at work, I ask "how does the customer interpret this?" In this case the customer is a non-editor reader of WP. X songs suggests ownership, LL doesn't "own," for example, The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face, written by Ewan MacColl and recorded by lots of people, Songs performed by X suggests any song performed on a thundery Thursday in Thurso, which is a get-in clause for everything non-notable, Songs released by X is passable, but songs recorded by X ticks all the boxes, excludes live performances, but includes all recordings, does not suggest the performer wrote/did not write the song. I would have beeen happy to go for consensus. I am merely asking for the name to be reverted back where it was before the unilateral move. Thanks for hearing me out. Cheers. --Richhoncho (talk) 21:55, 25 August 2012 (UTC)
- It should be brought up at WP:MUSIC as I think its a project-wide issue. — Lil_℧niquℇ №1 [talk] 14:30, 28 August 2012 (UTC)

- Support — as artists often record songs recorded by other artists and covers are extremely popular on albums I think every' article of this nature should be listed as "List of Songs recorded by ABC ARTIST". — Lil_℧niquℇ №1 [talk] 14:30, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
- Response to Aaron and Lil-unique1. There is now a "discussion" at Naming conventions at WPSongs, which I intend to notify relevant projects in due course. There are also another number RMs which can be seen at Requested moves. Both Justin and I have agreed not to move any more articles until there is consensus. This can be seen on Justin's page, further on down from the discussion mentioned by Aaron.--Richhoncho (talk) 15:07, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
- Oppose - Splitting hairs. There is no discernable difference from a "[Artist] song" and a "song recorded by [Artist]." "[Artist] song" does not imply the song was written by the artist, as you seem to be insisting. If you change this, be ready to change countless that share this title format (e.g. List of The Beatles songs) as well. Good luck.Father McKenzie (talk) 18:23, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
- Additional comment : WP Policy say that article names should follow WP:NDESC and WP:PRECISION. The present title does NOT meet the criteria of these two policies, being neither descriptive nor precise.--Richhoncho (talk) 14:03, 29 August 2012 (UTC)
Additional information
[edit]Since this and other nominations for renaming there has also been a discussion at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Songs#Naming_conventions_for_list_articles where there is a consensus that the convention should be List of songs recorded by [artist]. 3 other RM nominations have already been resolved as List of songs recorded by Jennifer Lopez, List of songs recorded by Perry Como and List of songs recorded by Rihanna and the greater majority of articles now use this format. This RM discussion should now be closed as move to proposed title. --Richhoncho (talk) 10:34, 23 September 2012 (UTC)
- The above discussion is preserved as an archive of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

New article title
[edit]The new article title is confusing. Is it only for songs that were both written and recorded by Lewis (meaning many songs are to be removed), or is it for all songs written by her, and all songs recorded by her (meaning more songs are to be added)? Judging by the edit summary in the page move, "She has written about 50% of her 3 albums combined material", it's neither; it's just a straightforward renaming, and therefore, the page should be moved back, because it's not going to have songs like "Angel", "Colorblind" or "Footprints in the Sand" removed, or have "Perfection" or "1,000 Lights" added. It's a list of songs recorded by Leona Lewis, regardless of who wrote them. I'm going to move it back, right now. –anemoneprojectors– 16:58, 17 June 2013 (UTC)
Songs recorded by Lewis but then given to other artists
[edit]Do we include songs that Lewis recorded but were then given to other artists? She recorded Ellie Goulding's "Burn" (http://idolator.com/7469332/leona-lewis-ellie-gouldings-burn) and I believe she did record "We Found Love" with Calvin Harris before it was given to Rihanna (I'm sure Harris said the two versions were very different, implying it was actually recorded, though this isn't included in the article for that song). Ah, I can see that "Mountains" is included, which is the same sort of thing. –anemoneprojectors– 08:52, 9 July 2013 (UTC)
- Yeah could do :-) — AARON • TALK 18:52, 9 July 2013 (UTC)
- I think we should if we know Leona recorded them. As "Mountains" is there, "Burn" should also be there :-) –anemoneprojectors– 11:19, 10 July 2013 (UTC)
