2016?
[edit]This is not a prequel, it is a reboot. Please fix the blatantly incorrect main introduction. https://www.facebook.com/mirrorsedge/videos/420750111447092/?comment_id=420878008100969&reply_comment_id=420878851434218&total_comments=1&comment_tracking=%7B%22tn%22%3A%22R9%22%7D — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.2.24.26 (talk) 18:44, 5 July 2015 (UTC)
- No it is not a reboot either. The game's producer clarified that it is neither a prequel nor a reboot. AdrianGamer (talk) 03:15, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
- Senior Producer Sara Jansson confirms that it is neither a sequel nor a prequel, but a "rebirth" that reboots the story. @40s "I would call it a rebirth." @1m10s "This is not a sequel to the first game; it's not a prequel either. It's rebooting the story and telling our version of Faith's origin story."

The release year is in the title, but the article has no mention of it, nor are there any references stating this. Without any references, shouldn't the year be removed from the title? (E.g. "Mirror's Edge 2", or "Mirror's Edge (Sequel)") — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wiki-kun (talk • contribs) 06:23, 11 January 2015 (UTC)
- I agree. There are some fairly weak (IMO) references from 2014 that it will have a 2016 release, and some (perhaps more) weak references that it will have a 2015 release. The cited sources that state it will be a prequel seem a bit better, so I'd suggest a page move to Mirror's Edge (prequel) or perhaps Mirror's Edge 2 for now. gurnec (talk) 02:22, 1 February 2015 (UTC)
- To my recollection, there aren't any other games that are a successor to another, but narratively a prequel AND having the same title. Bit annoying actually! The official website does say "discover the origin story of Faith", but I don't know if that proof is strong enough to make that change right now. Maybe WP:VG has an opinion on the case? --Soetermans. T / C 11:33, 1 February 2015 (UTC)
- I seemed to have missed your prompt response... that was (unintentionally) rude, my apologies. Back on topic, I have to agree that all of the alternatives we've thought of are potentially inaccurate, so we may as well leave it as is. Also just for the record, the "weak reference" link above leads to the Microsoft Store which used to list a release date of 2015, but has since been changed to "not announced". gurnec (talk) 15:10, 2 March 2015 (UTC)
- Maybe we could simply called it Mirror's Edge (upcoming video game). The upcoming Doom and Unreal Tournament are also named like that. Request move is needed though. AdrianGamer (talk) 15:23, 3 March 2015 (UTC)
- Any progress on the move? I added a reference to the news source that reported the release date and started the rumors, and that news source is not reputable by any means. As far as I know, none of the mainstream gaming news outlets have reported on any release dates. The title is misleading. Dotdapple (talk) 22:59, 5 April 2015 (UTC)
- ...And the confusion continues on what to call this game. While it is for certain not a prequel, last month, Narrative Director Christofer Ermgard called it a "re-imagined" story source, which I suppose, being picky, can refer to only the storyline itself. Sara Jansson later called it a "rebirth." source (I actually like that name better than "reboot"). — CobraWiki ( jabber | stuff ) 07:55, 27 August 2015 (UTC)

Mirror's Edge (2016 video game) → Mirror's Edge (upcoming video game) – Very weak and unreliable reference for the 2016 release window. Neither the publisher itself nor any other reputable source have stated that the game has a 2016 release window. AdrianGamer (talk) 15:11, 6 April 2015 (UTC)

Mirror's Edge: Exordium: Prequel Comic
[edit]A comic, Mirror's Edge: Exordium, is being produced by Dark Horse Comics. It will be a prequel story to Catalyst. [1] I make reference to this now so that it is not forgotten and can be added at a later date when there are more details. — CobraWiki ( jabber | stuff ) 08:02, 27 August 2015 (UTC)
Reviews
[edit]Why the hell are still only reviews from magazines being given? Please also add reviews of people like TotalBiscuit and AngryJoe. We trust them more than those magazines! They might not give a score, which is a good thing, but their opinions matter and we know that they are honest, we also know that those magazines are not always honest.

Undue weight on story
[edit]The story is generally considered a weak point of Catalyst. Why, then, is “Story” the longest section in this article? Seems a violation of due weight. —67.14.236.50 (talk) 03:24, 3 December 2017 (UTC)
- It's a violation of MOS:VG guidelines on plot length as well. This is pretty common for plot sections to be rather lengthy when fans at them, and to require trimming later. Feel free to do it and get it under 700 lines. -- ferret (talk) 14:14, 3 December 2017 (UTC)
- Were I familiar with it, I certainly would. But the best I could do without having played it would be to cut the whole section and replace it with a back-of-the-box type summary. —67.14.236.50 (talk) using public network 151.132.206.26 (talk) 22:34, 4 December 2017 (UTC)
- Matter of fact, any objections to such an approach? —67.14.236.50 (talk) 02:19, 6 December 2017 (UTC)
I have made an attempt:
The game takes place in the dystopian, futuristic city of Glass, the showcase city of the nation of Cascadia, governed by a totalitarian corporatocracy. Cascadian society is highly stratified, and the majority of citizens work for the corporations and are connected to the Grid, a massive social monitoring network digitally connecting everything and everyone in cities like Glass. The corporations are secretly preparing to launch a project, called Reflection, to control the populace through the Grid.
So-called Runners, freelance messengers skilled at free running, refuse to be connected to the Grid and live on rooftops, making their living from covert delivery jobs while evading K-Sec personnel. The game centers around a Runner named Faith, and her efforts to help other Runners overthrow the corporate government and stop Reflection.
I hope I’m not missing anything important. I expect not, considering the story is often described with words like “forgettable.” Still, please make any necessary adjustments. —67.14.236.50 (talk) 23:25, 7 December 2017 (UTC)
- Probably a bit drastic but I'm sure someone will add a few details back. As long as it isn't blanketly reverted it's unlikely to grow overly large again. -- ferret (talk) 23:26, 7 December 2017 (UTC)
- If you’re aware of any needed details, then please. —67.14.236.50 (talk) 23:29, 7 December 2017 (UTC)
