UEFA Women's Euro 1995 finalUEFA Women's Euro 1995 Final – Consistency with other final article titles of UEFA Women's Euro Footwiks (talk) 12:41, 19 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Support per nom. Exactly what I was thinking. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 13:35, 19 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose - I'm not really sure why we are super sure this is a proper noun. I had a look through the sources and it doesn't look like UEFA treats it as a proper noun. Do we have some good English language sources to see if they treat it as a proper noun? Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 23:39, 19 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes: [1][2] but it looks like the f is typically not capitalised when viewing other related article refs. Responding to @Stevie fae Scotland: obviously in all cases "final" is a subsequent word in all articles which have that title. If we do follow WP:NCCAPS that could mean many of the other articles would be moved from "Final" to "final", i.e. making the f a lower case letter and makes that consistent among all the articles, including the UEFA Women's Euro ones. I'm now half thinking of disagreeing with myself after yesterday's edit here. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 22:56, 20 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I accept that means moving a lot of articles but we wouldn't be in this position if we'd followed the guideline in the first place. It's just one of those things. Stevie fae Scotland (talk) 23:08, 20 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It being a lot of work isn't really an issue User:RMCD bot is a thing. I did previously mention this on WT:FOOTY that I believe the World Cup final events are likely part of this too. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 10:48, 21 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Support per the nom's justification. Dwanyewest (talk) 23:46, 19 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose - Per WP:NCCAPS it's not a proper noun so final should not be capitalised. Stevie fae Scotland (talk) 21:26, 20 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose - MOS:CAPS is clear on this and it's other finals that should be moved, not this one. Two wrongs don't make a right.  — Amakuru (talk) 10:51, 28 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose There is a burden attached to such a proposal per WP:NCCAPS and MOS:CAPS that hasn't been met. It is not intrinsically a proper name. Two wrongs don't make a right. Cinderella157 (talk) 10:42, 29 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose and fix consistency the other way, consistent with guidelines, instead. I suggest utilizing TolBot to do the mass moves. See Wikipedia:Bots/Requests for approval/TolBot 13D for examples of how that's done. I can help if desired. After the moves, there's a lot of cleanup work to do, which can also be semi-automated or maybe automated; happy to discuss and maybe help. I've done similar for tens of thousands of tennis, basketball, baseball, etc. articles this year. See list of 4500 article names ending in "Final". Happy with the bot doing all these moves instead of us doing it which takes a long time. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 23:19, 29 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose per other opposition comments (e.g. WP:NCCAPS, MOS:CAPS). Fix the others; this one isn't the problem. — BarrelProof (talk) 01:24, 1 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
