MinerGate is one of the largest multicurrency mining pools. The project was started in 2014 by a group of blockchain enthusiasts, led by Claude Lecomte[1]. At this moment, MinerGate operates with 10 coins and supports 4 major mining algorithms.

Business model[edit]

MinerGate is the first pool that allowed users to mine various cryptocurrencies without lowering the hash rate for the major coin[2].

To start mining on MinerGate user must authenticate his email address and create a secure password. After that he/she can download the right version of the software (for Mac/Windows/Linux). Users can also mine cryptocurrencies directly on the website without downloading extra software. MinerGate is a unique project as it allows mining different coins at the same time without a decrease in the hashrate.

Controversies[edit]

In 2017 Minergate was publicly accused of being a scam.[3] Lack of help from support, low processing speed and lots of reports from unsatisfied users led to severe doubts concerning MinerGate. However, no absolute proofs of the project being a scam were provided then.
