Block of Gingerkids (talk · contribs)

Hi there. Just thought I'd let you know that I would personally have gone with an indefinite block. His contributions show a barrage of nonsense page creation, BLP violations and harassment—there isn't gonna be anything productive here. Best, Fvasconcellos (t·c) 19:09, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the note; erring on the side of caution does beat recklessness any day :) I've only had the tools since June myself. Keep up the good work, and rest assured it doesn't hurt to be bold every now and then ;) Fvasconcellos (t·c) 19:19, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

Removal of Dog Daycare TALK Discussion!?

I would like to know why you removed my EXPLANATION to the individual that had an issue with the falsely identified copyright violation for the Dog Daycare article that I posted earlier. The individual that had an issue with it asked that I explain the situation via talk, which I did, and then you removed it. What is the problem? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jlippiner (talkcontribs) 22:26, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

Incorrect identification of copyright holder

I respect your note and the time you are taking, however, the original matter of the copyrighted material has still not been addressed. When my article was deleted another website that "claims" to be the copyright holder of the work was referenced. As my talk discussion pointed out, they are, in fact, NOT the copyright holder for this content, which is the ABKA. I have contacted the ABKA for permission but this information is the information they make PUBLICLY available when asked "what is a dog daycare."

Please let me know exactly what you would like me or the ABKA to do to have the original article reposted.

Jlippinerjlippiner —Preceding comment was added at 23:34, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

How to access original to get some content?

Ok, I have started to rewrite the post and have the beginning done and ready to post. I would like to get back the original post I did so I can copy some of the references and examples that were posted as that was also original research and I would prefer to not have to repeat myself. Where can I view the deleted post? (p.s. how can I get an email whenever someone responds to a talk I posted?) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jlippiner (talkcontribs) 23:56, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks, but MY content is missing?

Umm, thanks for reposting the article but you posted the part that was from the ABKA and left out all the original research and work I did of examples of dog daycares. What happened? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jlippiner (talkcontribs) 14:06, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

Re: Cruse Brothers' Production

Dear Accounting4Taste

I have to say I was very amused by your response, and also that it is very helpful. It's funny that my original message to you was "polite" and then I went back and edited adding two sentences (which you both quoted in your message), I figured you would never read it or respond so that's why I added them. I want to convey my gratitude for your response to my message and for the tips. Obviously my comment about not ever visiting Wikipedia was an exaggeration, I was on just a minute after sending the original message (it's just too interesting). Your line about not having to delete my next unsuitable article got me laughing very hard. Hopefully there are no hard feelings, my original Talk message was innappropriate and did not actually express my true feelings.

I have not yet visited the article you sent me the link to, but plan to very soon. I will try again, though, I hope you know! Maybe the next time you come across our article it will be approved (and spelled correctly! funny how those things sometimes just slip) and you might read it and be interested in it. As you said, we our amateur filmmakers, but hopefully not much longer!

Once again, I hope we have come to an understanding and I apologize for my comment. I would greatly appreciate it if you responded again. Don't forget to check out our Cruse Brother's Brothers' Production website... who knows maybe you'll like what you see. But from what I read on your page, you're into the historical stuff, sorry... none yet!

Stations and expressways in Japanese

Hello and thanks for the many speedies that you've done for articles I've marked! I thought it might be a good idea to bring to your attention the sheer number of articles in Japanese that a single contributor (Ken-train19890106) has added to the English wiki. I'm getting bored of going through them and stubbifying and wikifying them, so if you want to continue where I left off, there's still a significant number of them dating back quite some time. Unfortunately, none of us really has the resources to be translating these articles he's adding. But again, thanks for the speedies! :D -Yupik 23:20, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

For info. Plus looks like it worked out all okay on the Cruse Brothers thing - the other editor seems happy so it's all good! Pedro :  Chat  08:21, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

Thank you

Thanks my freind. I totally support the block, but would not do it myself because of a conflict of interest. I doubt that user has anything useful to bring to the 'pedia! Pedro :  Chat  19:03, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

BTW - My wife sends her thanks and love to you and yours for your actions. She wasn't too impressed by the comments (understatement!) by that user, and is so glad for your kind attention. Pedro :  Chat  19:07, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
Just to let you know I mentioned it at WP:ANI as we were both involved. Pedro :  Chat  19:33, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
And the result was............. block fully endorsed by three independent administrators [1]. Pedro :  Chat  20:25, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for your note. Yeah, if you're involved it's best to pop something in to WP:ANI just to cover yourself and keep it transparent. Three admin endorsements does the job! Now, moving on, if I'd known you were a bridge man I'd have nominated you earlier for adminship....... (three clubs but I'm playing Acol so it's a weak two no trumps ....... (I spent my college years failing to studay and playing way to much bridge....!!!)) Pedro :  Chat  20:37, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

<belly laugh> I cut my teeth on Acol 35 years ago and wasted too much time in university studying for and playing in tournaments... decided to take up more steady work, but I still am on the tournament trail. I play good old Standard American five-card majors these days with my favourite partner, but also play Acol, Blue Club, 2/1, and any other system I can find a partner for (I have been looking at Marmik, Carrot Club, and all kinds of artificial systems, but can't find anyone who shares my enthusiasm for these things). I expect you would have known sooner if I had used my original choice of nom, which was 7NTXX!! Accounting4Taste 20:44, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
7NT-BID-AND-MADE - mega username. I'd better get it and add it to my sock list! Pedro :  Chat  21:12, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

Hi Accounting4Taste,

I agree with you that User:TragedyStriker probably blanketed a bunch of admins with his concerns. Between the two of us, I think we've said everything that needs saying. Hopefully he'll contest the matter through proper channels if he continues to have concerns. Canderson7 (talk) 12:45, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

Haha, looks like you had a fan. :P [2] [3] Bit of a creepy one, though...anyway, I got him for you. Take care! GlassCobra 18:28, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

I think it can only be done through a Checkuser request (WP:RFCU). GlassCobra 19:01, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
Indeed he would. It's probably not worth it just yet, though. GlassCobra 19:41, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
I can definitely relate to what you were saying about the policies; I've had to read several pages much more closely than I had, and I'm finding some new ones as well. I'm not too worried about the kid; if he does come try to torment me, perhaps then it will be time to tell his mother, eh? Haha. GlassCobra 22:12, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
Well I mean, this is assuming that the kid is telling the truth; who knows, maybe he just had a conscience attack, or *gasp* maybe he saw all the stuff about us calling his mom. :P Anyway, glad it's over. GlassCobra 23:07, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
Oh, no, you mean he might have been fibbing to us just because I was getting ready to trace his service provider and call his mommy? Perish forbid. No, I prefer to believe in the workings of an unlikely providence. And I'm sure he's going to respect me in the morning, too. But if he was fibbing, well, he sure put one over on silly old me. Accounting4Taste 23:17, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

One of the policies I've been re-reading is "Don't feed the trolls", and I think I'm guilty here (besides, my attempts at bitter irony are probably a little too elephantine to be funny). I'm just going to quietly compile a little list and not comment any further. But feel free to keep an eye on my user/talk pages and I'll do the same for you... and thanks for your efforts thus far, they are appreciated. Accounting4Taste 03:33, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

Hello sir, I am writing to you on behalf of one of those "copycats" that have been vandalizing you. For you see, I am the true owner of Znznzn. I have been on vacation for several weeks in Europe, and i believe that my roomate may have been the one causing all the trouble. I have adressed this issue with him and he will promptly finding a new place to live. Once again, I want to say that I am sorry. I am asking you to please delete the accounts znznzn, Acounting4Taste, and this one Kadeith.

Once again sorry, Kadeith 22:41, 14 November 2007 (UTC).

The accounts can't be deleted, but I've blocked your account as per your request. The other ones have already been blocked. GlassCobra 22:50, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for deletion!

You probably don't get thanked for tossing a page very often, but in this case, thank you! In this case, it is the "American Spotted Paso" which I see has been previously deleted, and I think you are actually the third person to do so, I put a similar page up for deletion a few months back, if memory serves. This appears to be a horse "breed" that is the commercial promotion of a single individual who has created a bogus "registry" and I can only locate one web site for this "breed"--this single farm. Hence, it is clearly commercial linkspam. I more or less maintain the list of horse breeds and in the horse world, a "breed" can be a pretty generously-defined thing compared to the dog world, for example, but there are limits. Keep up the good work. I am sure this will come around again. sigh...and thanks. Montanabw(talk) 03:34, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

Well, you're right, I don't get thanked that often -- in fact, this is the first time. I read the page and, frankly, there was nothing there in the way of content -- didn't mention the word "horse", for instance, that I recall. Thanks for the kind words. Accounting4Taste 03:37, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
If you care, what they are doing is crossbreeding a Paso Fino on some sort of pinto horse and trying to call it a "breed." Maybe in 30 years or so, and when there is more than one ranch doing you care about horse breeding politics...sigh...but this one will be back, like I say, I think this is actually the third time. Montanabw(talk) 00:16, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

Mint slice

Although that user lacked a significant amount of civility the article did have a basis in fact. They are a biscuit from Arnott's Biscuits Holdings in Australia. –– Lid(Talk) 04:05, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know that, although it's probably more correct to say that the title has a basis in fact. The article seemed to have little to do with the biscuit and was quite nonsensical. If you'd care to create an article about the biscuit (with appropriate citations) you'd be very welcome; I banned the user, not the topic. Accounting4Taste 04:10, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

User:Krystal Johnson

If you read the rest of her bio, she also claims that she's cheating on her husband with Al Gore. I think it's pretty safe to assume that this is a hoax, and extend the block to indefinite. GlassCobra 20:59, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

I agree, the account is either compromised or simply created by her students as a hoax. Leebo T/C 21:01, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
Thanks, folks -- these are early days for me as an administrator, so I'm trying to err on the side of caution, but I completely agree with your decision to make the block indefinite. Thanks for saving me the trouble of doing it. Accounting4Taste 21:35, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

Deleted Redirect

I tagged Bitchy Bitch for deletion, and then you deleted it. But I failed to realize that it is a legitimate redirect to Roberta Gregory via an AFD Discussion. It was recreated, and then just deleted again. I am going to try and restore it and note the AfD in the edit summary. - Rjd0060 (talk) 23:16, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

Sergeant (band)

I only came upon this entry today when I reverted vandalism and now I see it's been deleted. Clearly the page required some work and I intended to fill it out a bit after I came upon it. Any chance of you putting it back and give me a chance to add some references? This emerging band have had positive publicity in NME and are regularly featured in the Scottish Media. For example [4]. I don't know any of the previous page contributors but I have seen the band live at sell out gigs in Scotland and believe they pass the notability test (and certainly in Scotland!). Just watchlist, if you could be so kind?

Hey, seeing how you are on my "helpful admins" list, would you mind watchlisting Arabian horse for a week or so? There were a number of POV edits by User:Seblini that I reverted, and then was promptly reverted myself by an anon IP,, who was probably the same individual. Another editor fixed it, but I'd like to have some admin eyes over there just in case there is trouble or a need for warnings. If you compare the diffs [here], it is obvious why these edits were not helpful (added peacock words, removed some sourced material), and looking over the individual's user page, the POV angle becomes apparent. (I've made a couple minor edits since this diff, just FYI) Anyway, having just survived an edit war on that article not long ago over a troll who wanted to keep adding stuff about beastiality to it, I am not in the mood for an edit war over yet another person who wants to trash an article that has Good Article status, but I feel that I am too close to the article to be fully objective and would greatly appreciate some neutral eyes on it for a bit. (Yes, I am lead editor on the piece and rather protective of it, guilty as charged! Can I provide you five more footnotes to prove it?? (grin)). Montanabw(talk) 06:13, 18 November 2007 (UTC)

I've watchlisted it, but I'm not sure how much use I'm going to be. I don't have much understanding of the material facts that underlie the article, so it's hard for me to tell what's POV and what's not. Nevertheless, I'll look at every alteration over the next while and do my best. Accounting4Taste:talk 22:50, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
Thanks, Mostly just watch for the same specific person to come around again. The main two things that anyone can spot are excessive peacock words, and, in this case, odd, illogical biases (deleting the specific, Bedouin and replacing it with the more generic, "Arab" was just weird). ArielGold did some perfectly fine formatting, and Ealdgyth as well as myself are both up to our ears in the horse articles and so I trust her edits. Edit summaries will probably reveal much. Improper template speedy deletions

Hi, I just noticed that you speedy-deleted Template:Babellist and Template:BabelUser after they'd been improperly tagged for speedy deletion. They were both tagged with {{deprecated}} less than a day ago, a process which has a 14-day waiting period. I'd notified the template's original author and he was supposed to have that period of time available to him in order to respond. Please check the histories of templates marked deprecated in the future to ensure that they've had the full 14 days, or alternately visit /Wikipedia:Deprecated and orphaned templates#Templates ready to be deleted for a list of those that have expired. Zeitgeist, the Movie

I think you made a mistake. There is a current AfD, authorized by DRV, which closed with a keep. Notability has now been established, and all of us who voted delete previously have all flipped to keep. You should restore before there is a major firestorm. - Crockspot (talk) 04:17, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

Hi. Crockspot also posted this at WP:ANI#Zeitgeist the Movie, and I've restored the article. The DRV was here. I'd probably have speedied this too; I remember playing whack-a-mole at its various other titles, and unlike most articles undeleted at DRV, there wasn't anything to that effect in the logs at this title. —Cryptic 04:59, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

Hello, I have posted an article about Mr. Louis B. "Skip" Dale two times now and you continue to delete it. Mr. Dale is an actual candidate seeking nomination in the 11th District of Virginia. He is creating a webpage, has a campaign network and has raised funds. I do not understand why you would delete this. Wiki is a great way for candidates to get recognition on the web...and I think Skip's should still be there. Thank you.

Oh, believe me, I have so totally been there. Man oh man, have I ever been there. Letting rip with a string of sulphurous curses prompted by the sheer bloody-mindedness of a particular individual and thinking, "Why the !@#$!@# am I wasting my time doing this?" But what brings me back -- and I think what brings you back as well -- is the idea that because one receives so much from society, one gives back to it, regardless of how difficult that is. In fact, there's a certain school of thought (I think it's allied with the Jehovah's Witnesses) that suggests that, the harder it is to contribute, the more worthwhile it is. Perhaps that might comfort you into the future. And, he says, wiping the sweat thankfully from his brow, welcome back. Man oh man, would you ever have been missed. Don't worry - I've got your pages on my watchlist. Your User protected anyway I think and if I see anything I'll deal with it! I've got a thanksgiving dinner to go to Saturday - my sister in law is American so we have to celebrate in lieu as it were! I don't mind the turkey, but the sweet potatoe and marshsmallow side dish we had to contend with last year was a bit strange for my English palete ! Pedro :  Chat  15:08, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

The first time I was in the US for Thanksgiving, I not only had sweet potato and marshmallow pie, I had two other surprising things -- an incredible concoction called "Hershey bar pie" that would have made you diabetic just looking at it, and a 40-ounce bottle of Scotch with a built-in pouring handle. There's a certain cheerful vulgarity and open-handed largesse that Americans do better than any nation on earth. I wish them all a happy Thanksgiving!! (Ours is the second weekend in October.) I hope that this is the right place to answer you since I am new to this as you can tell. Sorry if you percieved me to be rude, I am just frustrated. When I look up the term "Delegation management" there is no explanation, but say's to write an article about the topic. So I write an article and it gets deleted. I can understand the first time maybe it was to sales focused but the secone time I pulled my hair out.

The term Delegation Management is practiced daily in business but Wikipedia has no dialoge about it. Some times it is under different names but the true sense of the action is "Delegation Management". When any project or task is assigned to another individual a delegation process is set in motion. No one manages themselves but there is always someone managing and delegating. The art of Delegation Management is gaining more scrutinty as a new mentality enters the work force and the baby boomers leave. Delegation management is alive and real, but when I write an article it gets bounced. I have one of two choices, either forget it or fight to get the term indexed. Thanks for responding to my rudness. Your thoughts are greatly appreciated. Rbjewell (talk) 15:26, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

Wichita Online

Hello. I created the page Wichita Online, which yes is about a company. I did so, because as a resident in the are of the Tatums, OK Community, I along with several other people, to include US Congressmen and US Senators worked very hard to get a Government grant. I feel that because it was worked on by such prestigious government officials and because it has to do with government money, I feel that the Wichita Online article should be left in order for the world to know what the US government is doing to bring broadband to under served areas of the country. Thank you very much for helping keep wikipedia clean, but I feel that deleting this article would be a mistake. Again Thanks, and I hope you would reconsider. Doctors across the US and worldwide offer this device (During my research I have found Plastic Surgeons, OBGYNs and Family Practice MDs that have spoken of the device).

Is there a place that I can show you my edited version with limitations of the system, or can I post it without you blocking me? I am hesitant to post since the last message I received was about vandalism. Thank you for you time. Evayo (talk) 20:18, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

User: Evayo

Thank you for your review. Each of the articles mentioned in the previous posting have the address to their posting on the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery website. The references match the physicians name. I acknowledge your skepicism, medicine advances daily. This procedure actually harnesses the body's own natural process for healing and growth and applies it to the breast tissue. The physicians named on the medical advisory board are a "who's who" in the plastic surgery medical community. I ask that you reconsider after looking further into this procedure. Other Articles, such as "Breast Implant" also use the prestigious Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery journal to cite findings. I have added my updated article below. Please let me know specifics on items in question. I thank you for your time.

How External Breast Tissue Expansion Works

Breast tissue can be expanded using a nonsurgical device (eg. Brava Breast Enhancement & Shaping System [1]) to sustain the application of negative pressure to the breast resulting in tissue growth. This gentle tension, when applied to the breast for an extended period, stimulates breast tissue growth.[2]. This expansion process is similar those used for bone or other tissue expansion.[3].

What to Expect

An external breast tissue expander must be worn for a minimum of 10 hours a day for a minimum of 10 weeks to grow the tissue approximately 1/2 cup to 2 cup sizes.[4]. When worn more intensively (11 per day) and for a longer duration (a median of 18.5 weeks), the resulting median volume increase increased to 155cc (from the original 100cc median growth results).[5]. However, inventor, Dr. Roger Khouri, and Dr. Thomas Baker have proven that actual tissue growth from the Brava System has been sustained for more than 15 months subsequent to proper treatment completion. [6].

The wear schedule is rigorous for such a device, proving patient compliance to be the greatest drawback. [7].

Candidacy is also a very important factor when considering results. Results from and external tissue expander are subtle, and should not be confused with the outcome of a breast implant. Therefore, patients are usually those that would rather see a small amount of growth rather than undergo surgery. Furthermore, not all women are physically candidates for the system. It is proven that women with a body mass index of less than 18 have less significant results despite an increase in wear time. [8]. It has been found that minimum wear time may not be sufficient for some body types, making it necessary for them to increase wear hours or procedure duration to get desired results. Accurate patient selection, both physically and psychologically, appears to be the most accurate predictor of those who achieve success. [9].Evayo (talk) 20:54, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Classification of admins

Hi Accounting4Taste. Please consider adding your admin username to the growing list at Classification of admins. Best! -- Jreferee t/c 22:40, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

  • Most fun I've had here in a while -- thanks very much. I originally considered I might have to add a "Conceptual" category but finally decided I was "Psychological". If you disagree, by all means re-categorize me to your taste. I also considered that I might be "Non-existent", since there's no accounting for taste. Accounting4Taste:talk 23:02, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
Shouldn't you be in Financial? Or indeed Biblical ........... :) Pedro :  Chat  13:39, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
LOL Well, no, not financial -- I mean accounting in the sense of "explaining", not "tallying". And as far as "Biblical", well, you're the only person who knows that (shh!). I see the individual who maintains the list has gotten into trouble over it, which saddens me; as I remarked above, it was the most fun I've had here in a while. Sorry to bother you but I noticed you were the deleting admin on a page I tagged for deletion. Camp Buckner Deletion

Please explain why the Camp Buckner article was speedily deleted -- you wrote that there was little context to the article. Context does not necessarily denote notability, and in the case of Camp Buckner it is inherently notable as a US Military fortification. Having reveiwed the Military History Wikiproject and its sister project the Fortifications task force nothing seems to strike down Camp Buckner.

In any case, I would request that the article be reinstated, both because of its notability, and the fact that the West Point article is already so large that it cannot take its place, as you yourself have recommended. Cheers. Zidel333 (talk) 13:33, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

thanks for your input

I just wanted to say thank you for pointing out what I needed to add to the page to make it valid. I have since updated it.

Thanks for your comments on my RFA

One of my favorite places Dear Accounting,

Thank you for supporting in my recent RfA. Words nor pictures can express my heartfelt appreciation at the confidence the community has shown me. I am both heartened and humbled by this confidence. I will carry the lessons learned from the constructive criticism I have received with me as I edit Wikipedia, and heed those lessons. Special thanks to Pedro and Henrik as nominators. Special thanks to Rudget who wanted to. A very special thanks to Moonriddengirl for her eloquence.

NIHE deletion

Thanks for deleting NIHE where I placed {{db-move}}. I thought the deleting admin would also make the move but I have done it now.[5] PrimeHunter 03:05, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

My pleasure to be of assistance; it wasn't laziness, just ignorance, I didn't realize that that might be expected. I'll look more closely next time. Thanks for letting me know. Accounting4Taste:talk 03:08, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
That's OK. I wrote {{db-move|NIHE (disambiguation)}} which displays a move link from NIHE (disambiguation) in the box. (I'm not an administrator so I don't know whether clicking the link is all that is required). PrimeHunter 03:22, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

"Junk science" is not among the criteria for speedy, no matter how tempting . i changed the tag on the article on "Novel HIV Therapies: Integrated Preclinical/Clinical Program" to db-context. DGG (talk) 03:43, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

I'm not arguing -- you're absolutely right, it's not an established speedy category, and you were absolutely right to change it -- but I felt it fell under a combination of WP:FRINGE (which I think I cited) and WP:SNOWBALL. Also that that sort of assertion can be dangerous to the credulous. But I admit I have an axe to grind here since I'm deeply connected with an AIDS-based service organization, so thanks for bringing me back to reality. Probably I should let other people take care of that particular piece of WP:FRINGE. Accounting4Taste:talk 03:49, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

I've gone ahead and deleted it. Very confusing. Oh, and no worries about Heather Young – back in September I did the same thing, tagging about 5-6 articles for A7 when they asserted something significant (one of the reasons why I made a CSD Pledge on my RfA, which passed seven hours ago). hbdragon88 04:01, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

'You have deleted Owneopolis

' I realize now i need to write the article as completly as possible before i post it. I thought it would be fun to see the articlce grow. Yes the book is published and will soon be available at B&N I have also founded a non-profit "men to mentor youth," to inspire men to become mentors. There is a shortage of male mentors. So much so that most organizations cant even take any new boys because the waiting list is 2 years or longer. The book deals with a boy liveing in a single parent home. There are many articels from many other books some new some old. I do not know anyone that comes to wikipedia to look for things to buy. Thus i dont know anyone who comes to wikipedia to sell anything, The articvle about me and my book is valid because of the real and importan naturte of the book. Unlike a book like "a dangerous book for boys" Also maybe you can give me some suggestion on what i can add to the article . Peace-tom

What exactly is "Goon Dog Publishing", which is cited in the Barnes & Noble listing for this book? I can't find any reference to it anywhere on the Internet. Accounting4Taste:talk 17:52, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

Eh, I don't patrol CSD enough to get the real angry people. By the by, your sig is a tad long since you have such a long name. If you wanted, you could make the "Accounting" part link to your user page, and the "Taste" part link to your talk page. As for the 4, see LaraLove or Husond's sig. Maybe something like that? Just a suggestion, of course. :) GlassCobra 17:47, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

Goon Dog is a small press here in New York City.
I did not know you cannot start your own article.

If it is started by ones self or a PR firm or a stranger on the street does not make it any more or less valid. Why is gotham comedy club on here, or Lyndhurst High School, or Gotham Live( a comedy Show) I guess as was told to me it's all in the doing. But your comments are taken well and appreciated by me. Peace-see you soon. -tom P.S. I have no idea why my post came out like this. LOL

P.S If it were not for self publishing there would be no books. The list is endless of famous self publishers. Google it.

Speedy deletions

Hi there; first of all, I have no problem with your decision-making process as regards speedy deletions. But you are electing to create the rarely used box "other reason". It makes it easier for admins if you just put your reason in the first box, and leave it at that. Thank you. --Anthony.bradbury"talk" 16:56, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

Hi. I need to grovel. I have not been around for a few days, and until I came on line tonight to attack the CSD backlog I had not been aware of the the new drop-box format. My apologies. I would say that I do not think that I like the new system, but to accuse you of doing things wrong was totally unjust. I was merely demonstrating my unfamiliarity with the events of the last few days. Once again, my apologies. --Anthony.bradbury"talk" 20:19, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

Sarah in rabbinic literature

Hello, I was contacted by the author of Sarah in rabbinic literature, User:Java7837. He/she stated that the text from that article was from the Jewish Encyclopedia, which is in the public domain. Should that article still be deleted? Thanks, — Yavoh 20:33, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

Good question, and I don't know the answer off the top of my head. Give me a minute to look this up. I'm not sure if we can accept that the document is in the public domain without proof -- and similar questions. Accounting4Taste:talk 20:35, 3 December 2007 (UTC) says the following, "This website contains the complete contents of the 12-volume Jewish Encyclopedia, which was originally published between 1901-1906. The Jewish Encyclopedia, which recently became part of the public domain, contains over 15,000 articles and illustrations. This online version contains the unedited contents of the original encyclopedia. Since the original work was completed almost 100 years ago, it does not cover a significant portion of modern Jewish History (e.g., the creation of Israel, the Holocaust, etc.). However, it does contain an incredible amount of information that is remarkably relevant today." --Java7837 20:37, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

I haven't dealt with a question like this before, but I think the relevant Wikipedia policy is found at Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. As near as I can tell, Wikipedia needs a written statement in a certain format. However, I am definitely not an expert in this area -- what I'd like to do, with your concurrence, is bring this to the attention of administrators who know more about this than I do. What are your thoughts, please? Accounting4Taste:talk 20:40, 3 December 2007 (UTC) doesn't have copyright rights on the encyclopedia nothing that is in the public domain can ever be copyrighted unless it is signifigantly edited since it is not edited at all it is in the public domain this why there are several public domain resources online because the copyright has expired --Java7837 20:43, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

Okay, as far as I'm concerned you can re-post it and I won't touch it again; I accept what you say, and believe that I don't need to do anything further. However, I am worried that this problem may not be completely solved; there are bots like CorenBot that will tag the page as a copyright violation based on the identical nature of content, and another editor might also tag it as copyvio. I suspect that a comprehensive statement on the article's talk page (or maybe even in the body of the article) may be required; otherwise, you might be dealing with this situation over and over. If there's something I can do to help, by all means let me know; I've been busily researching the Wikipedia resources available in this situation and I think I know how to get this dealt with further. Accounting4Taste:talk 20:48, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

I have only had the problem of hearing it is copyvio on articles from Jewish Encyclopedia is first made and also if it doesn't use the Template:Jewish Encyclopedia there is a group on wikipedia trying to transfer all the material from Jewish Encyclopedia Wikipedia:Jewish_Encyclopedia_topics also why don't you just restore the article --Java7837 20:52, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

It's restored, and I've removed the tag; hopefully the edit summary with which I did those things will deter other editors/administrators. I also note the last line of the article which is a good idea. Sorry not to have thought to restore it myself a little more quickly; thanks for your patience. Again, if there's something I can do further to help, let me know. Accounting4Taste:talk 20:55, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

Superfluous redirects

Still wanna help out? I need to move everything in Category:True vipers by taxonomic synonyms to Category:Viperinae by taxonomic synonyms and everything in Category:True vipers by common name to Category:Viperinae by common name. After that, all of the "See also" sections in the articles themselves need to be modified accordingly. My cleanup work of those superfluous redirects is only a prelude to this work, and doing it alone is going to take me way too long, so if you have some time I'd be mighty grateful. Deletion of Brandon Jennings

Brandon Jennings is the top rated high school point guard of the 2008 class, and would be going directly to the NBA were it not for the new 1 year in college rule. Not sure why my article was speedily deleted under the reason of being for someone with no need for an entry. Seems to be (understandably) more because of the fact that I am a new user. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Meowcicle (talkcontribs) 05:12, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

I appreciate your quick response. I understand the article explaining the guidelines for an athlete. The problem is that Jennings does have major magazine write-ups (including a recent cover). Should I have articles completed before I create them? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Meowcicle (talkcontribs) 05:29, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

Tom Dorrance

Hang on with the deletion of Tom Dorrance. He is a legitimate practitioner of Natural horsemanship. This article is a stub to a person who has been linked in many horse training articles and passes the notability criteria. I will search for references to him in other articles and create some wikilinks you can check against "what links here" to show that we need this article. I just don't have the time to do it, myself, but by getting it started, I believe others will help fill in the blanks. Give me 24 hours to get this at least past the initial hurdle. I know you do a good job of keeping wikipedia "clean" but this one is legit, just rather cursory. Thanks! Montanabw(talk) 21:14, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

OK, so the bot tossed it. Oh well. Please take a look at what I re-created, Tom and Bill Dorrance, and see if that passes muster as a stub that meets notability. Give me a shout if you are tempted to tag it again, it's not my highest priority, but there does need to be an article on these guys. Fair enough to do one article about both brothers. I'm not into NH (natural horsemanship) all that much myself, being more a dressage sort, but they keep being mentioned in the various horse training articles, and they deserve a bio, probably more than some people who are already in...(sigh). Anyway, hope this one can avoid the deletion gauntlet. (and earn me brownie points that I just lost with the NH crowd by tossing the POV of their edits to the NH article!) Thanks. Montanabw(talk) 22:11, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
No problem, it's my fault for writing a careless stub that sucked! Montanabw(talk) 05:27, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

Kyle Key

What types of references would you need to prove the notability of my article? I have noticed that it has been removed and ceases to come up in the search. I can get these references for you with little effort due to the reverence I have in the magic community.

Kyle Key —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kktm (talkcontribs) 04:39, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

Dear Mr. Key: I actually anticipated your contacting me and have left you a comprehensive note on your own talk page at User talk:Kktm. With reference to the type of references required, you might look at Wikipedia:Notability (people), which outlines the level and depth of media coverage that would be appropriate. I've excerpted the points below for your consideration:

"* A credible independent biography. (Database sources such as Notable Names Database, Internet Movie Database and Internet Adult Film Database are not considered credible since they are, like wikis, mass-edited with little oversight. Additionally, these databases have low, wide-sweeping generic standards of inclusion.)

  • Widespread coverage over time in the media such as the BBC, The Times or other reliable sources.
  • If reliable sources only cover the person in the context of a particular event, then a separate biography may be unwarranted.
  • Demonstrable wide name recognition from reliable sources.
  • In depth, independent, coverage in multiple publications showing a widely recognized contribution to the enduring historical record in the person's specific field."

I trust you find this of use. Let me know if there's any further point of Wikipedia policy upon which you'd like explication. Accounting4Taste:talk 04:48, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

Accounting4Taste, I can provide you with references from Presidents and vice presidents of various international magic organizations. However, no I have never been on Larry King Live. References from magicians such as Jeff McBride, Ryan Stock, Johnny Thomsonand Lee AsherAll of the people listed above have a Wikipedia page and I have met and conversed with in regarding my performing history. --Kktm (talk) 05:03, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

I see your point and believe without a doubt that the other admins of wikipedia will have a similar view. My only last question is that is my article lost? I mean it did take a lot of work, but if it is gone, it is gone. I was just wondering for if I do come back to you with valid notibility, can it be re-created?

Thank you for taking time to explain the process to me.

You deleted my article on the Wat Buddharangsi of Miami in Homestead, Florida

You said you deleted my article because it lacked notability. I then read the Wikipedia guidelines on notability and found them both confusing and vague.

I created this article after reading another Wikipedia article entitled "Buddhist Temples" which includes a list of temples throughout the world.

The Wat Buddharangsi is a large, beautifully ornate, Theravada, Buddhist temple in Homestead, Florida with several monks from Thailand always in residence, including its abbot. (Keep in mind Theravadism is one of the two major sects of Buddhism with millions of believers throughout the world). This temple has monthly festivals, attracting hundreds, sometimes thousands of people. I know this because I attend these festivals regularly. Also, it was constructed for the exclusive purpose of being a Buddhist temple with funding coming from Thai-Americans living throughout Florida and has existed at its present site for years. I included the following URL to the temple's website for any reader who wanted to verify my information:

If you feel this temple doesn't deserve to be on this list of Buddhist temples then I sincerely think there's something wrong with your standards for judging this issue. Furthermore, I looked at a few other articles associated with the temples on this list and many are of similar or lesser status than the Wat Buddharangsi. This makes me question the very purpose of the list. What's the point of having a global list of Buddhist temples if you're not willing to include information on a major Buddhist temple like the Wat Buddharangsi? Its status is so great, in fact, that several months ago it hosted a display of the ashes of the Buddha himself along with the remains of other prominent monks who have been dead for centuries. This was part of effort to raise money for the construction of an enormous statue of the Buddha in Asia.

I will wait a week for a response from you. (Please put it on my talk page). If I receive no response then I will create the article again. If you or anybody else deletes it again, I will appeal to a higher authority within the Wikipedia heirarchy.LuisGomez111 (talk) 23:57, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

Viper category moves

Hi Accounting4Taste! After having spent an entire day modifying the categories for almost 600 articles, disambiguation pages and redirects (it's times like this I question my sanity), what's left to do is now pretty straight forward. The contents of the following categories have to be moved to these associated target categories:

After all this has been moved, I can take care of the last few hundred edits manually. Please let me know if you can arrange for a bot to take care of all this, because it can't really be left like this for too long. Thanks for your help! (PS -- Please answer here, as I've temporarily added your talk page to my watchlist). --Jwinius (talk) 01:36, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

I will immediately get on to asking for the bot. Thanks for laying it out so comprehensively here -- it will make it much easier to explain. I'll let you know here when I've got something accomplished. Accounting4Taste:talk 01:37, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
Wow, that was quick response! I'll be waiting eagerly for news of further developments. Cheers, --Jwinius (talk) 01:42, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
I've requested the bot (at WP:BOTREQ) and hope that someone answers who will either say "yes" or point me at the right spot to ask if I'm in the wrong place. Judging by the content there, though, it's the right place. I am just signing in for an hour before dinner and then will be tied up the rest of the night (west coast North America) so if you're going to be on for a while, you might keep an eye on that space for both of us. Fingers crossed! Accounting4Taste:talk 01:45, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
Excellent! There's been no reply just yet, but I've added the page to my watchlist. Oh, and in this case it's zoological taxonomy -- botanical stuff has to do with plants. :-) Cheers, --Jwinius (talk) 03:53, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
