A tag has been placed on Battle of Debrecen (1849) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

I have nominated George von Amsberg as part of the Main Page's Did You Know. Death information needs citations, but I hope you can fix them. --George Ho (talk) 16:12, 2 July 2012 (UTC)

- I have added a cite which will serve to corroborate the date of and forces involved in this battle. Beyond that I can't see any other information that might require specific citation beyond the links provided in the last submission. The intervention of the Russian Empire is discussed in the article on the Hungarian Revolution of 1848 and the date of the surrender is given in the article on the Surrender at Világos.
- Please post this article. I did not intend to spend much time on this, but I ran across the topic in research for my articles on the 45th New York Volunteer Infantry Regiment and George von Amsberg. This is clearly a battle with some historical significance which should have an article entry, but after a fair amount of time looking for further information I am coming to the conclusion that there is not much available in English. This is why I created the page, with references to articles on the Hungarian language Wiki pages, which very clearly have more information. Some multilingual skills are obviously required here. This article is intended only as a stub to encourage further development by those with such skills. (I do not have them.)

DYK for George von Amsberg
[edit]On 14 July 2012, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article George von Amsberg, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that George von Amsberg fought in the 1848 Hungarian revolution and the American Civil War? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/George von Amsberg. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

George von Amsberg
[edit]Your welcome concerning the additions. I note on the article page that I have a book on colonels in New York regiments and after reading the DYK and the article, I looked at the book to see whether it had anything to add. I don't know Hungarian or any Hungarian speakers so I can't help on that. Donner60 (talk) 19:34, 14 July 2012 (UTC)
