Airports[edit]

Hi - it's good to see someone adding stubs for loads of airports. Can I ask one favour, though? Airports should be stubbed with both the continent-airport-stub and also with the country-geo-stub, so, for instance, Dundo Airport should get both {{Africa-airport-stub}} and {{Angola-geo-stub}}. All but the very smallest of countries now have their own geo-stub, almost all of them in the form Countryname-geo-stub (camelcase when the name has two words, like BurkinaFaso-geo-stub). Cheers - and keep up the good work! :) Grutness...wha? 00:27, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Airport Assessment[edit]

I noticed you've been changing a lot of airports from high importance to top. Several of these don't really fit the guidelines specified at the Wikiproject. Please take a look there before reassessing other airports. Thanks. DB (talk) 04:40, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Actually I thought the change to Denver and Atlanta were appropriate (I'm not sure why those weren't top to begin with). I was referring more to Dusseldorf, Boston (Logan), and BWI. While all three are large and have international service, they are not really major airports, so high is more appropriate. There have been a few discussions on clarifying the importance ratings, but none seem to have gotten anywhere. DB (talk) 04:50, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Farecompare seems to be outdated[edit]

I know you have used Faracompare.com to update the Malaysian airports'list of the destinations. But you have to be aware that it sometimes are not regularly updated, especially the AirAsia routes. Please check airline's official website before editing the route destination. Thank you for your contribution. --Zack2007 07:37, 21 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

About the same website, I see you are adding that as an external link. I understand that it provides useful information for the users, but the link does not comply with WP:EL ("Links to sites that primarily exist to sell products or services. For example, instead of linking to a commercial bookstore site, use the "ISBN" linking format, giving readers an opportunity to search a wide variety of free and non-free book sources.") and WP:NOT#REPOSITORY ("Mere collections of external links or Internet directories.", the availability of one is biased and calls for more, and more are certainly not in place). May I ask you to not add these links to pages, and consider to remove them? Thank you. --Dirk Beetstra T C 10:22, 26 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
After consideration, I disagree with the assessment. My use of the website listed is to create lists of destinations served from specific airports. While the link at first may appear to be selling products, it is in fact providing a list of destinations with departure times, etc. In the specific case of airports, a list is created. Currently, there is no better source of information, as many airport sites for smaller countries are not updated frequently. I could also create a very long list of external links for the airline sites that I used for larger lists, but that would also be against Wikipedia's policy. Furthermore, the only reason I even include the link is because the list of airline destinations is constantly changing, and I believe it would be useful to have it since each airport page is not updated every day (or sometimes not updated yearly). Essentially, this website is a reliable reference, in my opinion. If I believe there is a discrepancy, I am more than willing to consult other websites to make sure the information is as accurate as possible. I will continue using the website until a better alternative is available. (If anybody has suggestions, I am more than willing to consider!)Gittinsj 20:13, 26 February 2007 (UTC)gittinsj[reply]
Thank you for your answer. I must confess, the link had me a bit in doubt, but I still believe it does not comply with WP:EL (why not make a list of wikilinks of the destination cities and companies on the page?). I saw the links were also under discussion here. Hope to hear more. --Dirk Beetstra T C 21:42, 26 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The data in Farecompare.com is not update and please don't add anymore in Thailand airports'list of the destinations. and page List of Destinations to/from all Thailand airports .I'm update every week! - --VAIO HK 09:51, 28 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ashgabat Airport destinations[edit]

The very same link you provided for the Ashgabat airport destinations shows that Turkmenistan Airlines serves Bangkok, Delhi and Frankfurt as well, so i dont know why you took those destinations out of the page. Go to the very same link you provided, scroll down and at the very bottom, you will see " More Popular Destinations from Ashgabat '. Click on that and you will see that Bangkok, Delhi and Frankfurt are served by Turkmenistan airlines.

Also, Lufthansa flies Asghabat-Baku-Frankfurt. The airline cannot transport passengers between Ashgabat and Baku, so you could say the only destination Lufthansa serves from Asghabat is Frankfurt. Again, dont know why you took this destination out of the list. Please research more carefully next time before making changes. Thenoflyzone 10:41, March 7 2007 (UTC)

I don't use that site anymore to change large airports. I only use it to create new sites, and always try to provide a different link, if one is available. Sometimes one is not for very obscure airports. As for the Lufthansa instance, I changed it before I understood the very confusing policy concerning internation flights with intermediate stops on the same plane.
I'm glad to see that people are checking these sites, though. Some of them have not been updated in a very long time. Some airlines I have found don't even exist anymore. I'm sorry if I've caused any grief. I've changed my ways.

Project template parameters[edit]

Thank you for tagging articles with {{WPAVIATION}}, but please be careful to use the correct parameters. Talk:Star Aviation, for example, belongs under the Airlines project and should be tagged with |Airlines-project=yes, and not |Airports-project=yes. I've fixed a few others as well. Thank you for helping out with this project. - Trevor MacInnis (Contribs) 04:20, 14 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

oh whoops! I didn't mean to do that, I have copies of both different types (airlines and airports) so that I can copy them into the talk page. Just an accident :)

Categories which you think should be deleted[edit]

If you find a category which you think should be deleted, such as Category:Airlines of the People's Republic of China, please place a {{subst:cfd}} (and follow the instructions there), in stead of blanking it. Airport Overlap[edit]

Hey, I was working with airports in Italy, and noticed what seems to be the same overlap in airports. Specifically Casale Airport and Brindisi Airport seem to be indentical. Since you created the Casale article (and the other guy hasn't been around since May), I thought you might have a bit of knowledge about the airport, and could determine which one needs to be merged into the other. Thanks :) --YbborTalk 22:34, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Brazilian Airports[edit]

Hey, I've noticed you're as well working on brazilian airports. My main focus is remote loctaion airport (unusual I know XD), but since I actually am from brazil, and there are missing thousands of brazil airport articles, I thought we could do some co-op to clear at least the most important ones. Speedy deletion of Tufi Airport[edit]

A tag has been placed on Tufi Airport, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

fails to recognize the significance of this airport. Why does it deserve to have an article written about it?

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Archaeopteryx (talk) 00:10, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
