Tewdoros

There is a controversy surrounding Tewdoros' death. Even though most historians generally accept that he killed himself many people, especially the Oromo of Ethiopia, believe that he was killed by Queen Worqitu of Wollo while attempting escape. I do not know how to get a reference but in Ethiopia it is common knowledge. LencaOromo (talk) 05:25, 24 November 2012 (UTC)

Regarding your striking of two edit summaries, I looked for demographics on the US Navy SEAL operations. It is a woefully un-integrated program [1] and has severe issues thereby. As such I believe the edit summaries were accurate and encourage you to revert your action. SkepticAnonymous (talk) 13:26, 19 July 2012 (UTC)

African immigration to Europe

Hi Gyrofrog. An editor has just renamed the former Black people in Europe article to African immigration to Europe after receiving the go ahead. However, he seems to have in the process inadvertently wiped out the entire page history. I was wondering if you could perhaps fix this on the back end when and if you have the time? Warlord

Hi Gyrofrog. You are indeed right that in the political atmosphere of Somalia it is hard to distinguish a politician from a warlord. However the reason why I labelled him such is because he commanded a militia in the then ungoverned Mogadishu. Here are a few citations.

Elections

Hi Gyrofrog. If it's not any trouble, could you monitor the situation over on the Somali presidential election, 2012 and Transitional Federal Government articles? It's a pretty hectic time, as the elections are here/nigh and the pages could really use some administrative oversight. Best, Middayexpress (talk) 21:49, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

I have left some new comments on the election article's talk page regarding certain edits that were made. Can you please have a look and comment on whether or not you think they are a fair assessment? Best, Middayexpress (talk) 17:12, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
Likewise per BOLD and BRD, hie was reverted and needs to discuss changes not an insistence to restore one version (WP:WRONGVERSION). I am discussing each and every issue at the talk page for which he has a concern. And please note that there are several points of his that are not under dispute, which i have maintained on the page (And further i did the same on the TFG page where my changes per BOLD edits were reverted. I then went to the talk page to discuss them first. (well second) I dint express OWNership of the page)Lihaas (talk) 21:35, 22 August 2012 (UTC)

Elections #2

Hi Gyrofrog. Although you already commented on the situation, there seems to be some disagreement now over what exactly is your position on the issue. The other editor has insisted that comments must be made on the article's talk page or they are null and void. When you have the time, could you please drop by the discussion page and leave your two cents? I've already opened an rfc for a wider consensus, but I think it would be best if you were to respond in the section above it where your comments are mentioned. Cheers, Middayexpress (talk) 14:27, 25 August 2012 (UTC)

How to move a page

I am going through the list of pages that have the template {{movenotice}} on them. The template is depreciated. Talk:Ethiopian coffee dress is the second page I have come across where you used {{movenotice}} to initiate a page move the other was talk:Debre Zeyit. I have now reformatted the request so that the bot can see them using {{requested move}} in the appropriate section on the talk page. You will find the detail of how to make such requests (and the page listings of live requested moves) at WP:RM -- PBS (talk) 16:40, 7 September 2012 (UTC)

no criticism of you was intended, it is the fault of the messy system we have in place, and yes if WP:RM is not clear to you then please raise in on the talk page of the process with ways you think it could be improved. I merely wanted to point out to you why the two moves requests you had made had not gone through and how in future you could speed up the process. Yours were two of abut 50 or so trapped in a similar time warp. I am trying to clean-up and then change {{movenotice}} to work only on talk pages coupled to multi page moves, so that it can not confuse people in future. -- PBS (talk) 17:13, 7 September 2012 (UTC)

Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud

Hi Gyrofrog. If you have the time, I was wondering if you could perhaps have a look at the Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud page? There have been various ips and accounts that have been adding some inaccurate material and/or messing up the formatting. Some of it looks like deliberately disruptive editing. For example, the following edits which 1) remove reference to the fact that Mohamoud is also an entrepreneur [3], [4]; 2) reduce his academic experience from being an educator to just being a university Dean (he was also a professor) [5]; 3) remove the Personal life sub-header [6]; 4) replace the Background header with a Biography header, when the entire article is of course a biography [7]; 5) move personal details on his marriage status and what languages he speaks to the unrelated Cabinet political section [8]; 6) add original research that he obtained a Bachelor's degree from the Somali National University, while neither of the cited sources specify what sort of diploma he received from that institution [9]; 7) claim that that degree was in the field of technology, when the cited ref clearly indicates that it was in engineering [10]; 8) claim that his later Master in Business Administration from Bhopal University was actually a "Master programme technical education" [11]; 9) change the Early career header to Career, although the material there only pertains to his early career while his new career as a member of the Somali government is dealt with further down [12]; 10) remove outright allusion to the fact that he was a professor at the Somali National University [13]. I should also point out that it was precisely these sorts of disruptive BLP vios which led to the related page of the former interim President Muse Hassan Sheikh Sayid Abdulle being protected a few days ago [14]. Given this, could you please intervene and add the page to your watchlist? Best, Middayexpress (talk) 09:28, 12 September 2012 (UTC)

Olol Dinle

Greetings! I, Musse Abdullaziz Olol Dinle, am the grandson of Olol Dinle. I have recently done editing of the history of my grandfather on your site. You stated that he died in 1960's. A very incorrect and distorted history of my grandfather. My grandfather died of deliberate poisoning few years after his arrest, in 1953, while in Ethiopian prison. You stated that he fought against the Dervishes of Sayid Mohamed Abdulle Hassan. His older brother Derie Dinle was the sultan during this time. Olol Dinle did not become sultan until after the assasination of his older brother, Derie Dinle in 1922. The family account of their history should be given more consideration than so called historian that may not want the truth about the Ethiopian plan to aquire the Hawd Region (most of Ogaden) from the British in 1955. He was an obstacle to Ethiopia achieving that goal. He was lured to a peace negotiations in Addis Abeba with the Emperor only to be arrested on his way back to Mustahil (Near Khellafo). His leadership team that included his nephews, Abdullahi and Abdikarim Derie Dinle, that refused to abandon him during his arrest, were electrocuted in 1955, few days before a scheduled meeting with Ethiopian authority and the local Somali tribes over the British hand over of the Hawd territory. Please correct this history for the sake of his family. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Musseolol (talkcontribs) 15:41, 2 October 2012 (UTC)

Hi Gyrofrog, You edited the Marilyn Monroe page yesterday, so I hope you can help with the following. Since that page is locked, I posted an edit request on her Talk page. It is just a request to change the external link for "Playboy Online", which leads to a minimal page with nothing much of interest to non-members of Playboy subscription sites, to a much more comprehensive link via the Playboy Wiki. Her PB Wiki page lists all of her Playboy content online for all Playboy sites, and has other information of interest to fans of Marilyn who are not necessarily members of Playboy paysites.

Following is the request I originally posted on the Marilyn Monroe "Talk" page:

Please replace the link for "Playboy Online" with the following:

Playboy Wiki consolidates links for other official Playboy sites. At PB Wiki, the links for "Playboy Online" are in "Playboy.com Previews". Frankly, the current link for "Playboy Online" is embarrassingly inadequate. Marilyn deserves a better link from Playboy. Thanks Wikilister (talk) 00:53, 24 November 2012 (UTC)

Somalis in the UK

Hi Gyrofrog. An editor has added some material related to race and identity on the Somalis in the United Kingdom article that has been a bone of contention. The material involves two sections; Relationship with the British Arab community and Relationship with the Black British community. The editor added the latter section a few days ago, and after some arguing back and forth, I later cleaned up the section and added the former section near it for balance. However, today, he completely removed the British Arab section under the pretext that it is "undue weight", and replaced it with a contentious section titled "Most British Somali's reject 'Arab' label in Census". Additionally, he added questionable BLP material on the Isaaq. The page used to look like this; it now looks like this after his edits. When you have the time, would you mind taking a look? I've explained the situation in detail on the article's talk page (here and here). Best regards, Middayexpress (talk) 18:41, 6 December 2012 (UTC)

The user has also reported me for 3RR, although I didn't actually surpass three 24 hour reverts and he, ironically, did. Rather amusingly, he has also accused me of "hiding" his edits on the War in Somalia (2009–present) article, apparently through the use of the administrator-only RevDel tool :-D Middayexpress (talk) 18:54, 6 December 2012 (UTC)

He ignored my request that he correct his mistakes, and I had to spend several hours reverting his stupidity.
