  • Eh, I guess one without a free-use image can't hurt, we don't have that many biographies that are WP:GA or WP:FA as it is. Thanks for the nomination! (But in the future no need to put the whole Intro/Lead at the bottom, just the article name and its WP:GA or WP:FA status would be sufficient.) Cirt (talk) 08:27, 11 January 2008 (UTC).
    • Please sign your comments with ~~~~ - it helps to keep track of who said what where in discussions. As for the Michael Palin article, I responded at the nominations page. If you feel like expanding the Lead/Intro in the article itself to summarize the rest of the article, we could use that in the "blurb", but as it is it's way too short to use - I have no idea how it got passed as a WP:GA with such a short lead/intro... Cirt (talk) 15:21, 11 January 2008 (UTC).
      • Thanks for expanding it! Another good WP:GA addition. Cirt (talk) 15:55, 11 January 2008 (UTC).
        • I noticed, and I did, thanks! Cirt (talk) 16:00, 11 January 2008 (UTC).

I see you noticed the article and tagged the talk page with WP:COMEDY. Feel like doing the GA Review for it? Cirt (talk) 00:38, 16 January 2008 (UTC).

  • No rush/pressure, but if you feel like it, that'd be great. Just follow the steps at WP:GAC, it's pretty straightforward. Cirt (talk) 07:56, 16 January 2008 (UTC).
    • Personally, I like to use {{PGAN}} or {{GANOH}} or {{FGAN}} - in order to formulate my GA Review comments on the talk page of the article. Cirt (talk) 08:06, 16 January 2008 (UTC).
      • Normally, I don't give comments on FACs if the user that nominated it asked me to. But in this case as I was the original GA Reviewer for that article, I think it's appropriate. Cirt (talk) 08:28, 16 January 2008 (UTC).

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Robbie - Green Wing - Series 2.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Robbie - Green Wing - Series 2.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 04:21, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Ted and Peter, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Red Dwarf peer review

I was wondering if you could take some time out of your schedule to head over to the Red Dwarf talkpage and give us an honest peer review. The page has gone through some major changes in the last few months, and it would be fantastic if a prominent editor/contributor like yourself, could head over and give us at the Red Dwarf Wikiproject some sound opinion and ideas on improvements for the page. We have all worked very hard at improving the page, and we need great outside, reliable and trustworthy users to come over and help us improve. If you are interested in joining the peer review discussion with other prominent users/contributors, much like yourself, please follow the link. Thank you very much for your help and your continued effort to improve Wikipedia and its quality! Wikipedia:Peer review/Red Dwarf --Nreive (talk) 11:17, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

I'd just like to thank you for being a cool editor. On your userpage, you display plenty of information about yourself, and you aren't afraid to say it (bisexual, furry, aspie - that's not your average person). You've contributed constructively to the encyclopedia in many ways. I hope you continue to do so. Cheers.--h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 20:43, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

QI Covers

I was mid-edit on The Book of General Ignorance when you moved the covers around, so that surprised me somewhat...! I read your comment (on QI) regarding the uniform alignment, but respectfully disagree both generally and specifically (and haven't noticed it being too set-in-stone on other pages, either). In any case, the US cover seemed to me to be getting lost underneath the book-box (which was good thinking - thanks! :o)), so I moved it back to the left. I'd like to do similar ease/aethetic cover moves at QI, but would welcome your input rather than just doing so behind-your-back. :o)

(Looks like the book-box is a little awkwardly-large, too... do you mind if I have a look at that later..?) ntnon (talk) 20:25, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Template:User:ISD/Userboxes/Dave Gorman requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>).

Fair use rationale for Image:Popetown.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Popetown.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Project FMF (talk) 22:53, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

Image:The_Thin_Blue_Line_DVD.jpg

I have tagged Image:The_Thin_Blue_Line_DVD.jpg as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Some examples can be found at Wikipedia:Use rationale examples. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags/Non-free. Thank you. Project FMF (talk) 15:17, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Green Wing - Scripts 1.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Green Wing - Scripts 1.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 06:22, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use Image:Oriane_Messina.jpg

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Oriane_Messina.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Rettetast (talk) 14:54, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

This article is basically an expansion and retweaking of another web page that may be copyrighted by another person. Please tend to this issue as soon as possible. If this is not the case, but rather the case is that the other web page took from Wikipedia, it cannot be used as a reference.
