Orphaned non-free media (Image:Something Happens.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Something Happens.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:16, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

AfD nomination of 100 Anime

I have nominated 100 Anime, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/100 Anime (2nd nomination). Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Category:List-class furry lists, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Category:List-class furry lists has been empty for at least four days, and its only content has been links to parent categories. (CSD C1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Category:List-class furry lists, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Just a Minute.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Just a Minute.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fluteflute Talk Contributions 20:58, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Oppo-site.com

A tag has been placed on Oppo-site.com requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for web content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Resist the temptation to recreate. Please read WP:NOTE and WP:WEB to see how you could possibly improve this, but rarely do websites become notable so close to its founding. Wait a while for WP:RS to develop coverage, and then maybe re-try when you have solid sourcing of notability. Notability is not inherited, so an off-shoot website from a notable TV show like Genius (TV series) exists, it is not automagically notable. If there are sources that link the two, and the show itself gives it prominence, then it perhaps belong in Genius (TV series) itself. --Cerejota (talk) 04:56, 4 April 2009 (UTC)

The Simpsons

Why do you feel it necessary to add WP:Comedy to articles that we nominate for Good Articles? CTJF83Talk 22:29, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

I find it interesting that you are tagging only episodes that are GACs. Why is that? Boosting the WP Comedy GA count? CTJF83Talk 07:21, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
Ya, but my problem is how much work are you doing to get Simpsons episodes up to GA status? None, right? So in effect, WP Comedy is taking credit for the work of WP Simpsons. CTJF83Talk 08:22, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
You should make a note on WP:Doh too. CTJF83Talk 18:53, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

Every single episode and character could also be a part of television and American animation projects, but there is no point in tagging every one with those tags because WP:DOH is already affiliated with those projects. It doesn't really matter to me because at least The Simpsons is a comedy show so it makes a little sense. -- Scorpion0422 22:05, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

I'm sorry if I came on too strong in my previous posts. I wasn't trying to "yell at you" for tagging the GAs, it was meant to be just a friendly question. CTJF83Talk 04:08, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
Detagging won't be too hard with WP:AWB. CTJF83Talk 06:35, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
Ok, so not sure what we resolved here, but it looks like we either need to tag all Simpsons articles, or none, not just GAs. Which do you think? CTJF83Talk 18:14, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
Alright, if that's what you think. Personally I still think we should remove it, because we could add a few dozen projects to every article, but that is just ridiculous. I think Wikipedia:WikiProject Comedy should only cover comedies that don't have their own wikiprojects. Like Talk:King of the Hill doesn't have its own Wikiproject so it has the comedy project and a few others. Same with Talk:Rugrats and a lot of others. I mean do you see where I'm coming from? If a show has its own wikiproject, I don't think it needs to add on others like Wikipedia:WikiProject Comedy and such. Thoughts? CTJF83Talk 18:43, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
I just want to make sure you understand where I'm coming from. I don't have a problem with WP:Comedy tagging The Simpsons, but I personally think every episode is a lot of unnecessary tagging. Like Homer's Phobia has a tag from WP:LGBT and Thirty Minutes over Tokyo has a tag from WP:Japan, those are relevant tags, because the whole episode focuses on LGBT themes, and Japan. CTJF83Talk 18:55, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with DYK, so I can't answer that question. So is it ok with you if I untag all WP:Comedy from episode articles? CTJF83Talk 19:02, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
Do you want to remove them, or I can use WP:AWB to easily remove them quickly. CTJF83Talk 19:08, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
I don't know about the lists, I don't want to act like I'm owning all of this, I'll let you decide on that. CTJF83Talk 19:12, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
Actually, AWB isn't working how I wanted it to, do you want to help me remove WP:Comedy from the pages? If you do perhaps start with the list at A and go through, and I start at Z after I do the FAs. I'm using "Remove WP:Comedy per discussion here" as an edit summary. CTJF83Talk 19:34, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
Ok, looks like we are done! Thanks for the help. CTJF83Talk 20:24, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of QI (G series), and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://goose-lane.com/?p=133. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. GA Sweeps invitation

Hello, I hope you are doing well. I am sending you this message since you are listed as a GA reviewer. I would like to invite you to consider helping with the GA sweeps process. Sweeps helps to ensure that the oldest GAs still meet the criteria, and improve the quality of GAs overall. Unfortunately, last month only two articles were reviewed. This is definitely a low point after our peak at the beginning of the process when 163 articles were reviewed in September 2007. After nearly two years, the running total has just passed the 50% mark. In order to expediate the reviewing, several changes have been made to the process. A new worklist has been created, detailing which articles are left to review. All exempt and previously reviewed articles have already been removed from the list. Instead of reviewing by topic, you can consider picking and choosing whichever articles interest you.

We are always looking for new members to assist with the remaining articles, so if you are interested or know of anybody that can assist, please visit the GA sweeps page. In addition, for every member that reviews 100 articles or has a significant impact on the process, s/he will get an award when they reach that threshold. If only 14 editors achieve this feat starting now, we would be done with Sweeps! Of course, having more people reviewing less articles would be better for all involved, so please consider asking others to help out. Feel free to stop by and only review a few articles, something's better than nothing! Take a look at the list, and see what articles interest you. Let's work to complete Sweeps so that efforts can be fully focused on the backlog at GAN. If you have any questions about the process, reviewing, or need help with a particular article, please contact me or OhanaUnited and we'll be happy to help. --Happy editing! File permission problem with File:Mark Steel Walsall Hippo.jpg

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Mark Steel Walsall Hippo.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the GFDL or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Polly (Parrot) 15:00, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

Bigipedia reivew

I've posted your draft here and made some edits for style (which you should feel free to change back if you don't like some of them). One suggestion I have is that you revisit the bit about Stephen Colbert; I think his treatment of Wikipedia has actually been in the same spirit as Bigipedia, mocking and satirizing because he likes the site rather than because he thinks it rubbish, and using it as a jumping off point for addressing broader issues.

Another think you might consider is adding a paragraph specifically discussing the main themes the series touches on (internet privacy, bias, corporate power and Google-ization, or whatever you see in it).

Thanks for taking this on!--ragesoss (talk) 17:47, 16 August 2009 (UTC)

BSG

Has the British Sitcom Guide been deemed a fully reliable source? Their entry of Peep Show has a lot of stuff I can't find anywhere else so I just wanted to check. Gran2 14:42, 3 September 2009 (UTC)

I corrected some of the info in the box, but in general I am not a great fan of the boxes, and I don't really see why all descriptive text about an image always has to be included in a box, even when some of it doesn't necessarily fall within one and only one of the rigid box categories. I generally favor including more relevant information about an image, even if some of it can't be conveniently boxed...

Good luck in your nomination, but the Featured Picture process seems to be very strongly biased against images which are non-photographic, or which do not simulate a photographic appearance, unless there has been a very significant change since last time I looked over there...
