Whenever

[edit]

Why are you so insisted that Whenever is an official single from the The Beginning? Is there any other sources other than the one you listed that proves that this song is let's say the "fourth single" from that album? Moh8213 (talk) 20:47, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Moh8213: Since other articles (such as "I'll Never Love Again", "Free Woman", "Love Again" breefly) use this page as an indicator of single release then why "Whenever" should be exception? The fact it was released only in one country doesn't disqualify it from single status. infsai (dyskusja) 19:31, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Whenever is an exception because of the reason you mentioned, tho you're not wrong about disqualifying it from being a single, but still it can't be included in the infobox. The infobox is suppose to have singles that were released and charted globally, those singles also supported the albums performance globally, but singles with speciality or limited release should not be included in the infobox. And btw the singles that you mentioned above were firstly released to radio in France, but they were later released in another territories based on their chart performance. You can even check the Template:Infobox album at the Template:Singles section to get a proof. Moh8213 (talk) 11:11, 14 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nope, "Love Again" is the only single released later elsewhere, "Free Woman" and "I'll Never Love Again" were released only in France as a single. But then, if we would exclude such releases, then also "I Don't Search I Find", "the 1", and many many more songs like this should be also disqualified. I brought chart position just for a trivia, it's not an indicator of single release, but this article is. infsai (dyskusja) 11:19, 14 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Like I said before, the singles that you mentioned above were later released elsewhere, if I'll Never Love Again was only released as a single in France, can you tell me how it sold in Australia, Denmark, Italy, Norway, Portugal, United Kingdom and the United States? If a single charted in a certain country, then that single was released in that country, but if a single wasn't released there, it wouldn't have charted. Moh8213 (talk) 12:26, 14 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Look bro, my whole point of this argument is that Whenever shouldn't be included in the infobox because it was only released and charted in one country and per Template:Infobox album such singles like this shouldn't be included, either way before your edit, it was already noted in the article's singles section so there's no point of adding it the infobox. Moh8213 (talk) 15:17, 14 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Moh8213: "I'll Never Love Again" charted and was certified in severeal countries because it was streamed since it was very memorable song from the movie + it had a music video. Going this way, "I Don't Search I Find" was released in Italy and it didn't chart nor receive any certification there. Limited releases are about non-sure sources or simply just one radio stations like BBC or The Music Network, or simply by the countries that there is always some extra cuts in radios like Netherlands or Russia. Pure Charts in France, from what I know, indicates widespread radio release across whole France, and since other articles credit it as a source then I really don't see a point of this discussion. infsai (dyskusja) 18:11, 14 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

What that article meant by limited or speciality release singles are singles in which are released in limited countries or in a specified country not by how many radio stations it was released, and in this case since this single was only released in France, then it shouldn't be part of the official singles of the album, even the Black Eyed Peas' official website didn't announce it as part of their singles from their album plus they didn't even shoot a music video for it. In fact I kinda think that it's a promotional single rather than an official single and this source proves it. Moh8213 (talk) 19:29, 14 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Bruh, Pure Charts in France at least is recognized as a reliable source, unlike Discogs where anyone can post anything. Artists won't announce radio releases of their singles, because why would they? Artists' announcement isn't needed to song to be recognized as a single. infsai (dyskusja) 04:12, 15 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I never said that Pure Charts in France aren't a reliable source but whatever. You won, you can have your edit lol. Moh8213 (talk) 20:45, 15 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Your signature

[edit]

Please be aware that your signature uses deprecated <font> tags, which are causing Obsolete HTML tags lint errors. As explained at WP:SIGFONT:

<font>...</font> tags were deprecated in HTML4 and are entirely obsolete in HTML5. This means that the popular browsers may drop support for them at some point. Wikipedia is already preparing for this by delinting code project-wide through Linter. When support finally is dropped, the tags will be ignored in all signatures; any properties such as color and font family will revert to their default values. For this reason, it is recommended that you use <span>...</span> tags and CSS properties instead.

I have prepared a replacement signature string for you. You are encouraged to change

Music Network

[edit]

Hello, may I ask why you removed The Music Network from Mr. Perfectly Fine? Ippantekina (talk) 13:13, 6 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Ippantekina: Hi, per this discussion, The Music Network should not be used as a radio release indicate. From what I understand, this is a similar case to BBC Radio, which is also omitted in "Release history" sections, since both of those entities are single radiostations, the fact that something is included in their playlist, doesn't make it a single or/and radio release of the song. infsai (talkie? UwU) 14:56, 6 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Australian Radio Dates

[edit]

Hello Infsai, I have noticed that you are removing radio dates in Australia from The Music Network. This discussion is definitely outdated as it happened in September 2020. Since then, a user has emailed the publication in which they stated that "Singles to Radio is a chart put together by the editorial team based on tracks that are officially serviced to radio each week" (all information mentioned in WP:SINGLE?). The "big debate" around this source to me hasn't been whether it should be included in the release history section, it has been whether this publication his enough backing to call a song a single. I hope this clears some things up. LOVI33 14:48, 27 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@LOVI33: Hi. To be honest it confuses me even more now. I am removing The Music Network from the articles for quite some time (like a half a year?), since SNUGGUMS removed it from "Electric" article, nodding to that discussion. So I'm not sure what to do now. :v infsai (talkie? UwU) 16:06, 27 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I still wouldn't rely solely on The Music Network for release details when they're not affiliated with ARIA (the most authoritative source for Australian music stats). SNUGGUMS (talk / edits) 18:56, 27 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

German radio dates

[edit]

Hi Infsai. I don't think that the German radio dates you have added in several articles are appropriate. Per this discussion, it was established that playlist adds of individual radio stations is not an appropriate source for radio dates. I'm going to use the source for "Love Again" where it says it is "New to the sector" which to me seems like a playlist add. But also, this source is from 1LIVE which is a radio station owned by Westdeutscher Rundfunk. According to the latter article, 1LIVE was modelled by Westdeutscher Rundfunk based on BBC Radio 1 which was one of the networks that was used as an example in the above discussion. So in conclusion, I don't think it is an appropriate source. What are your thoughts? LOVI33 18:22, 24 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@LOVI33: I'm sorry, I overlooked it is actually just one station! I'll refrain from using it "Release history" sections, and take care of removing it from them. infsai (talkie? UwU) 17:43, 25 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Discontinued charts on Britney Spears discography

[edit]

Hi! I noticed you recently edited a Britney Spears discography article, more specifically the chart in the Other charted songs section, by pointing out that some of the older songs weren't on the charts because these charts hadn't been made yet. Of course I appreciate your input and I understand what you meant, but I changed it a bit because (as the person who added it back then here and in other articles) I wanted to point out that the song no longer had a chance to appear on these charts, because they simply didn't exist anymore. You know, Billboard Global 200 was made in 2020, and much older songs are able to make it to this chart, so I guess for example "I Run Away" from 2001 would be able to make it to the Pop 100 chart, which was made 4 years later, but the songs from Femme Fatale definitely not, because the chat hadn't existed for 2 years then. As I appreciate your input on Wikipedia, I wanted to write this message to you on this topic, as I'm curious what you might think about it. Thank you! :>
Danionek (talk) 10:45, 15 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Danionek, I decided to change it mainly since I saw that the asterisk from Pop 100 didn't go til "Don't Cry", so it needed to be fixed. I added more asterisks, since even though those songs might have been eligible for those charts, they didn't chart there, so in my opinion it could be also singed by the asterisk. Just a minor detail. infsai (talkie? UwU) 13:11, 15 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
