File source and copyright licensing problem with File:Christian.family christmas.jpg[edit]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Christian.family christmas.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.

If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.

Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. J Milburn (talk) 15:02, 27 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your contributed article, Impact Of Christianity On Civilization[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I notice that you recently created a new page, Impact Of Christianity On Civilization. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as yourself. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page - Christianity. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Christianity - you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think that the article you created should remain separate, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Basalisk inspect damageberate 15:08, 25 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your note[edit]

Its possible that we may even know one another ... Nazareth isn't that big after all. :) Unfortunately, I had to disable my email after receiving death threats for my edits here (hundreds of copies of a variation on a theme that jammed my email inbox and wasted too much time). I don't share too many personal details on Wikipedia anymore either because of that. But maybe one day we'll find each other? Until then, happy editing and if you ever would like to collaborate on something here, let me know and I'll try to make the time for it. Tiamuttalk 08:20, 26 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"The largest religion in Europe is Christianity with 76.2% belonging to Christianity.[1]"

  1. ^ http://www.pewforum.org/Christian/Global-Christianity-exec.aspx Global Christianity:A Report on the Size and Distribution of the World's Christian Population.

I removed this part from the lead section, but it still mentioned in the section about Christianity. The lead section should be a general introduction to the topic, therefore it cannot mention a percentage about just one religion, from just one source. For sure because this percentage is contradicting with numbers from sources that are more reliable (it contradicts with the numbers from Eurostat). I know this doesn t count but as a European I can tell you the number is just plain wrong.Nico (talk) 11:09, 1 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ok no problem i understand your point. For the source of pew research center it's reliable (and thier statistic are used in wiki articals) as Eurobarometer or Eurostat, and the percentage differen is not only with the Pew statistic, for example Eurobarometer or Eurostat discrepancies between it's percentage and national census results (Sweden,UK, etc), I'm also a European and I can tell you the number write, it's not important what we think.Jobas (talk) 15:31, 1 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for January 16[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of Catholic scientists, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page John Eccles (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Please be more careful with your citations[edit]

Hi, thanks for taking the time to edit Islamic Golden Age and fill in some of the gaps on the role of Christians in translating texts etc. However I find some of your edits problematic; in several cases you have added statements based on unreliable or unclear references. When I've found the source, in some cases they don't actually support the text you've added. Please slow down; I would much prefer that you add one good sentence with one good reference, then three dubious sentences with three bad references. For example, you have recently added: " According to author Thomas T. Allsen, Middle Eastern medicine in Mongol ruled China was “almost always” in the hands of Nestorian Christians.(Rémi Brague, Assyrians contributions to the Islamic civilization)" This is problematic for several reasons:

  1. who is Thomas T. Allsen? He's a red link. I have no idea.
  2. You've attributed this to Rémi Brague, based on the url http://www.christiansofiraq.com/assyriancontributionstotheislamiccivilization.htm. Brague did not write that web page; he certainly did not write the comments attributed to Thomas T. Allsen. Brague himself is a reliable source; www.christiansofiraq.com is not, because of unclear editorial control and potential bias. In the previous case where you attributed the comment to Brague, giving the Christians of Iraq url, I was able to track it down to the relevant book by Brague and give a proper reference, but attributing the Allsen quote to Brague is just downright confusing. The web page does not give a proper reference for the Allsen quote, and I'm not prepared to spend hours of my time tracking it down. Please don't add references like this based on unreliable, unclear references.
  3. What is the relevance of Mongol ruled China to the Islamic Golden Age anyway? This is not explained.

As I say, please slow down and add better sourced material with better references. Please feel free to ask on the talk page if you would like help with any of your additions. --Merlinme (talk) 15:10, 11 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Protestant culture[edit]

The article Protestant culture has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Duplicate of content at Protestantism under Protestant culture

Your recent editing history at Turkish people shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.

To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.
information Administrator note I'm warning you instead of blocking you for 3RR because the other editor involved did not warn you and because you have no prior blocks for edit warring. In the future, please take disputes to the talk page or otherwise discuss with the other editor(s) involved, rather than engaging in a revert war. Ks0stm (TCGE) 19:31, 22 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Christianity[edit]

You appear to be engaged in an edit war with one or more editors according to your reverts at Christianity. Although repeatedly reverting or undoing another editor's contributions may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, and often creates animosity between editors. Instead of edit warring, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.

If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to be blocked from editing. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. While edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, breaking the three-revert rule is very likely to lead to a block. Thank you. JimRenge (talk) 01:55, 26 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Tip: try to stop at 2 reverts. There are many competent editors - it just takes some time and patience. JimRenge (talk) 22:08, 26 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Why, in clear disrespect for WP rules of editing[edit]

...did you revert good faith edits that were true—edits calling attention to page numbers broadly lacking from book references, the appearance of naked URLs, the complete lack of ANY citation in many sections, etc. This is the height of of editorial arrogance and hubris, to revert a good faith edit without discussion in Talk, and without substantive Edit Summary—the entirety of yours was "Undid revision 637029601 by 71.239.87.100" (i.e., contained no justification)—when the edits clearly had merit. Perhaps you hold a bias -- contrary to WP policies -- against IP editors? Please, state your case, but know, because I am both (a) a retired faculty member with professional editing and scholarly experience, and (b) also a WP editor who can and will later log, that I'll seek to have these edits reintroduced. veritas numquam perit. 71.239.87.100 (talk) 04:09, 8 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Utility/Legitimacy of “People of Levantine-Greek Orthodox Christian Descent” Category[edit]

Dear Jobas, You seem to have expert knowledge in religious history and cultural anthropology, notably re: Byzantine tradition(s) in the MENA area and the subtle ethno-cultural nuances of Levantine Christian communities and their relatives in the (mostly US and Latin American) diasporas. Some Wikipedians have reopened an old CfD debate, purportedly aiming at removing the “People of Levantine-Greek Orthodox Christian descent” category– see discussion below: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2014_December_16#Category:People_of_Levantine-Greek_Orthodox_Christian_descent Can you please help us with with your learned arguments & let us know if you’re in favor of keeping it?
