We did it, my friend! Thanks for your help throughout - it was invaluable and irreplaceable ! :) Lovz ya, —Ed 17 (Talk / Contribs) 19:00, 21 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Aw, Eddie, you shouldn't! Congrats on that article, but there is no way that my work is "invaluable" or "irreplaceable." Icy could have done a better job, and surely plenty of other c/e-rs out there could do the work faster, better, and...politer(?). Just thank me simply, if at all - it's nothing that merits any special treatment, hon. :) —La Pianista (TC) 17:19, 22 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Copyeditor's Barnstar
When I, NocturneNoir (talk · contribs), hereby present to La Pianista (talk · contribs) the Pianista's Copyeditor's Barnstar for her hard work with on List of Adventures of Mini-Goddess episodes and List of Oh My Goddess! episodes. Question

[edit]

Why do some people devote themselves to deleting userpages when they could add to the encyclopdia. They have no need. Unless smething is harmful to people who don't want it then why delete it? Chubbennaitor 18:50, 23 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Every person finds different things to their liking. I like adding to articles about old warships, J.delanoy loves to Huggle, La Pianista likes to copyedit (and occasionally contribute real stuff :P), Icy likes to copyedit and contribute to cloud-related articles, and MZMcBride likes to delete stale IP talk pages. Everyone has their niche that they like to be in—for example, don't ask me to Huggle, because simply editing isn't fun for me...it's the research behind ship classes and the finding of a good source that makes me love to contribute. Finding out why x class of ships was designed a certain way intrigues me. Working within MILHIST and reviewing articles isn't quite as fun, but reading the articles I review teaches me stuff, and it's the learning from researching and reading that keeps me here. Otherwise, I would have left lonnnng ago. :) —Ed 17 (Talk / Contribs) 20:10, 23 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah. There are lots of jobs on Wikipedia that need to be filled besides mainspace article editing. Like talk page stalking. Nutiketaiel (talk) 20:46, 23 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I had a little stint with Artemis Fowl that I should get back to (those pages need love!), too :D Icy // 21:55, 23 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Or you guys could review A-class nominations at WP:MHR... (plllllllease? :/) —Ed 17 (Talk / Contribs) 01:35, 24 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
IceUnshattered (talk · contribs) will probably mess up if she tries. Somehow that doesn't seem like an improvement :/ Icy // 01:57, 24 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Later: Meh. Will see about it. Icy // 02:00, 24 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I might be able to review one or three. Do you guys have an urgents list or somethin'? –Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 02:02, 24 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
(@ Icy) - I love you. <3 :) Really, it's not that hard to review article, especially when you go through just looking for prose problems (don't have to know anything about the topic!). :)
(@ Julian) - not really...they are just in backwards chronological order on the page. Just pick one (or three :-)))) that you think would be interesting to review...we just need reviews period. :/ 27 are on there, I think!
(@ both) - the A-class criteria, if you are interested, can be found here. Thanks sooo much! —Ed 17 (Talk / Contribs) 02:53, 24 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
(@ Ed's MHR request): Most certainly. :) —La Pianista (TC) 06:05, 24 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Meaning, of course, that I'll try one or two and see how it goes. (Oh, and I do believe you love too many people. Love that is rare is love that is cherished - treasure is treasure due to its elusiveness. :P) —La Pianista (TC) 06:06, 24 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It's more than adequate. Love you all! (well, not Julian....!) Anything helps...PR and A-class are both backlogged there. :( So many people are starting to use that A-class review page, it's scary (but also good!). There aren't so many PR requests, but that's prolly because they sit there for a month and garner only one, maybe two, reviews. :/ So, if you wanted somethingto do that was quick in your limited spurts on, milhist PRs could call your name if you want.... ;)
BW, nice new page. Like the format. Don't like the sig as much (all black?), but it's not bad :) —Ed 17 (Talk / Contribs) 14:42, 24 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I will miss teh big blue Pianista, but it's for a good cause. I'm planning to take it up too. Oh, and your editnotice is still blue, by the way. ;) Queenie Talk 16:44, 24 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Why are articles under MySpace categories deleted? They don't destroy the encyclopedia. As long as they aren't offensive and open to the public then the problem is... If the user devotes themselves to the MySpace then they should be deleted. Only then. Chubbennaitor 16:55, 24 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

(@ Ed, Queeneh): Yeah, I was thinking the same. Perhaps one of you (:D) can design a new one for me? Not too colorful please - and I would like to maintain the "Dolce ma non troppo" part (meaning "Sweetly, but not too much.").
(@ Chubb): MySpacey pages are disruptive. They detract from the real purpose of the project - writing articles. They aren't blatantly harmful, like vandalizing and POV-pushing are, but they can be distracting. Users who wish to use Wikipedia as MySpace should, well, look to MySpace. Yes, but isn't it even more pointless to go round deleting them. I'm sorry. I stated that as soon as they get too distracting then I agree they should go on that users' pages. It doesn't affet anyone. What's wrong with this place being too myspacy. As long as we have users who contribute to the encyclopedia then the problem is... Chubbennaitor 20:41, 24 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
affect ;)
An element of myspacey-ness is kind of unavoidable when you've got on your hands an enthusiastic community full of people who inevitably are going to make friendships. Even if it doesn't directly affect the project, it's going to distract from the focus. We can't have users running around the community who do nothing but chat all day - not that we have any, I'm just saying - though I stick around and talktalktalk, I pretend to make up for it by doing minor rewrites and copy-editing whatever I can. If pages that have nothing to do with the project pop up all over the project, then it's not Wikipedia anymore. And we can't have that on our hands, either. Hi, just wanted to drop a note that I've begun work on the revamp. I've reworked Wikipedia:WikiProject Classical music/Assessment and I have a modified version of the Project's mainpage at my sandbox, but I had a few quick questions first. Is it just me, or is the existence of the Wikipedia:WikiProject Contemporary music kind of pointless? I'm moderately annoyed that Glenn Gould isn't even rated under Classical Music at all. While I can see the purpose of a Wikipedia:WikiProject Composers, wouldn't it just be easier to break these into work groups? I'm slightly disgusted by the raw amount of overlap with projects here and I'm sure this causes confusion for other users as well.

In any event, I've begun rereading Peter Oswald's Glenn Gould: the Ecstasy and Tragedy of Genius, so expect some changes to that page in the near future. ɳOCTURNEɳOIR (t • c) 22:09, 12 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think the work grouping is a good idea - we could centralize better that way. That part gets a sure nod of approval from me. :)
And good luck with the GG article. I'll keep an eye on it and will help out whenever real life permits. —La Pianista Speak · Hear 04:57, 13 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Whenever you get the time, take a look at User:NocturneNoir/Sandbox/Nocturnes Op. 48 (Chopin). It's a draft of what I'll eventually move to Nocturnes Op. 48 (Chopin). I'm running low on sources (only two at the moment) and my library isn't helping the slightest. If you have any resources to add, please do. Thanks! ɳOCTURNEɳOIR (t • c) 03:17, 19 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
User:NocturneNoir/Sandbox/Nocturnes Op. 48 (Chopin) is ready for mainspacing on my end. The size requirement has been met. However, I think the article would benefit from more in the lead and possibly more info about the second nocturne (I didn't dig that hard in Google Books and will later when I get a chance). Could you take a look and finalize this for the DYK? ɳOCTURNEɳOIR (t • c) 13:42, 23 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Doing - thank ye. —La Pianista 03:21, 24 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nocturnes Op. 27 needs a copyedit and another assessment. I may add more later, but that's unlikely. I'm going to submit it to DYK shortly. ɳOCTURNEɳOIR (t • c) 15:33, 30 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In detail, it's the opposite of active voice. For example, "The cat ate the mouse" is in active voice. Passive would be "The mouse was eaten by the cat." At 1047, you have a lot of "was drawn up" and "was written." If you could add a subject towards the front of these phrases, that would be great. —La Pianista 03:12, 25 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

O.o Oh, teh blinking! /me goes blind. Pianista :  Chat  04:38, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Pianista, why has everyone got a sig in the style of Pedro? p.s. /me has joined the firefox revolution and now enjoys the round corners and ed's nice userpage. Queenie 11:56, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
We are from teh Pedro Cabal. Err... no actually there is no cabal, of course not. Chamal :  Chat  11:59, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
So why? April Fool's? Queenie 12:01, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
There is no cabal. NocturneNoir :  Chat  12:05, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well, yeah. Things are a bit crazy here today; just take a look at the main page. It started with this discussion (which someone later removed from that page and brought us back to this world), and then this, and finally this. There's probably a lot more happening, but this are the most ridiculous ones. Chamal :  Chat  12:44, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, right. Fair enough. Queenie 14:22, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed. Queenie, one would think you have been disillusioned by your years of IE usage. There is no cabal, except in the imaginations of the puny. Pianista :  Chat  04:21, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"Super srs"? That's quite a lot, there, little one. ;) —La Pianista 04:50, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again. (I've gone mad)

[edit]

One little niggle. [1]. Chubbennaitor 16:34, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Chubby! Glad to see you back. I knew you wouldn't have left for good.
As to that message, I'm not sure I understand the context. Your edit notice is supposedly offensive to him? —La Pianista 04:58, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. And since I've come back no-oe has treated me with any sort of respect ad it's been telling off here etc. Chubbennaitor 16:27, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
IMHO, don't expect respect. Try to earn it, but don't expect to get it all the time. When you get into a conflict with a user more experienced than you, he is naturally going to have the upper edge. That has nothing to do with you, it's just how things work here and in this world. The gravity of the problem depends on how you take it too. Either you go "OMG accusation!" or you can go "Oh wow, opportunity for improvement" (at least that's the way I see it, but I might be weird). It's always good to make sure that you leave no chance for others to see a fault in the way you act. Anyway, problem here seems to be about re-reverting without discussing first. Looks to me like both parties have missed that point and started arguing about some edit notice and respected editors. Discussion should have been about the edit and why it was reverted and the reason that no discussion was needed for it, and not about the accusation or each other's faults :( Chamal talk 00:24, 3 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed. Chamal's right. I can say no more; if I did, it would only be a pointless reiteration. Take what he said to heart, Chubby. —La Pianista 03:14, 3 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What in the name of...?! I can't even thank you guys enough. Dylan! Chamal! Eddie! What is this for? I haven't done anything awesome recently. —La Pianista 05:00, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Haven't done anything awesome recently other than being awesome... Look, you're awesome if we say so. If you complain you will be taken to ANI or someplace (yeah, I know April1 is over, but the mood's still there. Which reminds me I have to change my sig again). BTW, how many people declare awesome Wikipedians? Biblio, Rlevse, Dylan... Chamal :  Chat  11:20, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Congrats Pianisteh! It'll be ed's turn next :D Anyway, well done, you deserve it :) Queenie 12:12, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Congrats! LITTLEMOUNTAIN5 review! Happy Pianista Day! 14:47, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, gosh, you've even changed your sig, LM? Srsly. I'm blushing now. You people. :P
Thanks ever so much Dylan. I was far from expecting something like this. (And I would insert a humble rant here, if it were not for the apparent way it ticks you fellas off whenever I do that. But then, if it annoys you, I should...) —La Pianista 03:07, 3 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
My pleasure! :) --Dylan (chat, work, ping, sign) 10:47, 4 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Question

[edit]

Do you think this sig for my alt account is too squiggly or is it all right? DeacyAmp Queenie 16:32, 7 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Quite squiggly. I would suggest something like DeacyAmp perhaps. :) —La Pianista 04:28, 8 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Nocturnes Op. 27 (Chopin)

[edit]
Updated DYK query On April 8, 2009, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Nocturnes Op. 27 (Chopin), which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.
Dravecky (talk) 16:28, 8 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That's a nice little article you have there :) —Ed 17 (Talk / Contribs) 17:21, 8 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Before my rant, I'd like to make a couple of things clear. Don't worry, it's not dangerous to read. :) I've pledged not to defer compliments because it is, to be frank, annoying. In real life, as matter of fact, I'm tired of getting scolded for denying compliments. So, for once, I thank you, Eddie for the note, and Panda for your help! Beautiful article, as Ed has said.
However. Panda, why did you do that?! I don't need that nom. I barely touched the article four times. Anyone looking through the history can see that. I don't mean to be ungrateful, as I am very happy with the DYK. But please. I find it unsettling that I am taking credit for something to which I hardly contributed. It is not for the points - it's for my own conscience. From now on, whenever you are starting any "Nocturnes" articles, I wish not to take the credit unless I wrote up a section or two.
This may make you mad, and though provoking that might bring me regret somewhat, at least I have said what I believe. I am not playing the humble card, and I am certainly not trying to be artificially sweet or deferential. I'm simply speaking my mind. :) —La Pianista 22:25, 8 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Haha, that hardly would be make me angry. Whatever makes you happy! ɳOCTURNEɳOIR talk // contribs 22:32, 8 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
