Leighton railway station moved to draftspace: current sourcing is dubious.

[edit]

An article you recently created, Leighton railway station, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Difficult to tell

[edit]

If you would like help, or not, and how seriously you understand the setbacks with the Meckering and Leighton ideas, it is indeed hard to tell...

Meckering - information about the rail service is already incorporated in the existing article about meckering - and the post 1966 location is very far from being a notable location in the recent notability pronouncements. If you were writing about 1897 - 1940 meckering railway station that is a totally different matter.

Leighton - wikipedia articles are not reliable sources. Leighton station really, as far as the amount of history that could be gleaned from some sources - could be either a sub-part of the north fremantle article - or, if you were particularly adept at the tangents required - could combine material about leighton marshalling yard: - however the trick there is the material about the marshalling yard - due to operational dates - 1950s to 1980s - is where the black hole exists in a source such as trove due to copyright issues... As it goes your efforts to date are hard to identify as to whether they are concerted attempts at providing new material from good WP:RS. As a result it is hard to know which way to go with adding information or not. JarrahTree 08:14, 13 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

FYI

[edit]

Just to let you know that a significant amount of your edit history will be reverted...

On your user page - you claim that your sources for edits and changes are

http://dictionary.sensagent.com/List%20of%20Perth%20railway%20stopping%20patterns/en-en/ https://wikimili.com/en/List_of_Perth_railway_stopping_patterns Please note that wikipedia does not allow editing that sources from mirror sites

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Mirrors_and_forks/STU#sensagent.com

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Mirrors_and_forks/VWXYZ#Wikimili Which means you maybe need to understand the mirror issue - you are utilising information from a deleted article that still exists in a mirror site - which means your edits are neither valid or correct...

Please get a very good handle of what WP:NOT and WP:ABOUT are actually about.

Also, railway information boxes are for current, not historical operations, as the boxes have limited scope, and possible historical variations are potentially problematic. Please note that continued reference to or gaining content from mirror sites of deleted articles are simply red rags to admins who might feel that you do not want to abide by what the rules are here... Take care!!

JarrahTree 09:21, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

can i just change my sources LachlanTansey45566788765444332 (talk) 09:23, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The sources aren't the only issue. Adding heaps of defunct stopping patterns makes the infobox excessively long. See City West railway station for an example. Another issue is that considering the Fremantle/Midland line is 141 years old, it is impossible to make a complete list of stopping patterns that have existed over that period, and even if it were, that would make the infobox even longer. I think it is best to list stopping patterns that are currently in use. Steelkamp (talk) 10:35, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
you make a good point if i ever include stopping patterns it would be current ones
thanks for the advice :D LachlanTansey45566788765444332 (talk) 20:31, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
thanks for understanding the issue and reverting your own edits - also remember dont utilise/believe mirror sites for starters... JarrahTree 01:09, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please

[edit]

Do not put Perth Australia - there is no such thing, as there is another Perth in Australia. Please also clarify claims you make in editing - to WP:RS - also after having utilising mirror site(s) as a claimed source, you will have to work that little harder to clarify source of information. Take care. JarrahTree 09:14, 4 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please

[edit]

Make some sort of acknowledgement that you understand messages on your talk page, and other pages - the less you respond, the more likely you will find your editing is under scrutiny of the annoying kind.

When creating new pages - like west perth - the lack of a category, and the lack of reliable sources to verify/back the idea of the article, is what watching editors find as a suggestion that you either are not reading messages, or understanding WP:ABOUT and WP:NOT.

No active talk engagement, and expect to have a very difficult time.

If you are going to keep adding older versions of newer stations - the PTA website is not a WP:RS in that circumstance. The lack of other sources will go against your article creation. Take care. JarrahTree 11:26, 4 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article West Perth Railway Station has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The City west station is the subsequent station, and is adequately described and accommodated in that article - there is no need for the extra article as there was nothing sufficiently notable about west perth that cannot be dealt with in the city west article

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. JarrahTree 11:30, 4 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Your contributed article, Bellevue Railway Station

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Bellevue Railway Station. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Bellevue railway station, Perth. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Bellevue railway station, Perth. If you have new information to add, you might want to discuss it at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Taking Out The Trash (talk) 16:53, 4 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

W pattern

[edit]

Are you aware that the "W" pattern services on the Fremantle line timetable are actually Airport line services? Steelkamp (talk) 16:53, 4 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Also, there has never been a station called "Subiaco Oval Station" and that draft will not result in an article. You might be thinking of the third platform at West Leederville railway station which had Mandurah line services during events at Subiaco Oval. Steelkamp (talk) 17:20, 4 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Per Steelkamp's comments here, and the deletion today of Bellevue Railway Station, you really need to ensure you are doing due diligence and the articles you create do not duplicate existing articles and are actually real stations. Trainsandotherthings (talk) 19:19, 4 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Although everyone is welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, introducing hoaxes, such as Calder Park railway station, is considered to be vandalism and is prohibited. If you are interested in how accurate Wikipedia is, a more constructive test method would be to try to find inaccurate statements that are already in Wikipedia—and then to correct them if possible. If you would like to make test edits, please use the sandbox. Under section G3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, the page has been nominated for deletion. Repeated vandalism may result in the loss of editing privileges.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Steelkamp (talk) 11:09, 6 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The sole source within this article is just a timetable. Merely proving the station exists does not mean it should have an article. You should include other sources. For example, this page from the Heritage Council of WA. Steelkamp (talk) 11:14, 6 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Mundijong railway station has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No need for a separate article - Mundijong as a locality already exists - editor has been repeatedly uploading material for non notable railway stations that could be included in the articles about the localities

PLEASE STOP

[edit]

Your continued creation of totally inadequate stubs about railway stations has now got to the point where sanctions are required. The time and effort of others to 'cleanup' after you is now beyond tolerable as expected of new editors.

You appear to not have learnt from the experience of being checked by other users - there seems no reason to expect that you have any sense of what wikipedia is about.

The experience of being blocked may well be a way of seeing why your editing to date is disruptive and of little use to the improvement of the encyclopedia.

There are now sufficient differences between edits and corrections for a reviewing administrator to reasonably consider blocking from the evidence to date.

For starters - fellow editors are not moderators

For a possible resolution to the issue you might:

To volunteer on your part not start or create new articles outside of the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_creation process

And that the articles are to be reviewed for WP:Notability within the

Trains context
Western Australian context
To volunteer draft changes only to anything to do with information boxes about

railway stopping places. (ie other editors review) As this is not part of the established remedies as outlined in the processes available in the formal part of what wikipedia has available - it is being offered as an informal remedy to obviate the rather uncomfortable experience of being blocked as a disruptive editor. You are free to ignore this (as you appear to have done so with most of the messages above), however it is offering something that might prevent you being blocked. I am sure other editors might different views on how to resolve your stub constructions - this is being offered in good faith in the hope that you either change your editing style - or at least understand if others are indeed more exacting and precise in their consideration of your disruptions - you have had your problem adequately explained to you. AFD withdrawn - I think that you should go out of your way to thank Steelkamp for his rescue of the article. It was, perhaps the only stopping place on the south west railway without an article that deserved it. The word vane suggests that english is not your first language? - the word you should have used is vain - and no, your efforts are not in vain, when you show signs of learning from your mistakes, and offer up your ideas via new page review... Hello fellow Perth rail editors

[edit]

I would like to add a paragraph on the Perth Station page about "changed during the 21st Century" but I wanted to ask before doing so as when I have done this in the past I did not ask and did the edit terribly but I have learnt from my mistakes and am asking before editing LachlanTansey45566788765444332 (talk) 03:56, 29 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

What specifically do you want to add? There are already three paragraphs on the 21st century on that article, albeit not in their own sections. They could do with some expansion. Just make sure to use reliable sources for anything you add. Steelkamp (talk) 07:23, 29 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
