Amir Sarkhosh
Hi. AppoWeb has apparently tried to get around the salting of Amir Sarkhosh by creating Sarkhosh, Amir (an article in a state clearly beyond that of a newbie's capability). The user has been problematic in other ways, too, as you can see from their contribs and talk history (let me know if you want me to be more specific), and a couple people have expressed concern (including me) that this is "not their first rodeo". (Bringing this to you as you were the one to salt the page.) —[AlanM1 (talk)]— 18:37, 31 August 2020 (UTC)
- My discussion on the topic: User talk:HickoryOughtShirt?4#Sock?, and with them: User talk:AlanM1#question 2 (note they call everyone "friend"). —[AlanM1 (talk)]— 18:40, 31 August 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks AlanM1 - I have deleted and SALTed the page. The IP has aready been banned, but needs a bit more investigation. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 18:54, 31 August 2020 (UTC)
- I wasn't aware of an IP being involved. Is there anything further I need to do regarding the user I mentioned? —[AlanM1 (talk)]— 18:58, 31 August 2020 (UTC)
- They've apparently been blocked at fawiki as a sock of ArmanAfifeh. —[AlanM1 (talk)]— 19:06, 31 August 2020 (UTC)
- They've now gone. Thanks for that. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 19:25, 31 August 2020 (UTC)

WikiCup 2020 September newsletter
The fourth round of the competition has finished, with 865 points being required to qualify for the final round, nearly twice as many points as last year. It was a hotly competitive round with two contestants with 598 and 605 points being eliminated, and all but two of the contestants who reached the final round having achieved an FA during the round. The highest scorers were
- Bloom6132, with 1478 points gained mainly from 5 featured lists, 12 DYKs and 63 in the news items;
- HaEr48 with 1318 points gained mainly from 2 featured articles, 5 good articles and 8 DYKs;
- Lee Vilenski with 1201 points mainly gained from 2 featured articles and 10 good articles.
Between them, contestants achieved 14 featured articles, 14 featured lists, 2 featured pictures, 87 good articles, 90 DYK entries, 75 ITN entries, 95 featured article candidate reviews and 81 good article reviews. Congratulations to all who participated! It was a generally high-scoring and productive round and I think we can expect a highly competitive finish to the competition.
Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 4 but before the start of round 5 can be claimed in round 5. Remember too that you must claim your points within 10 days of "earning" them. If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. It would be helpful if this list could be cleared of any items no longer relevant. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Adminship request
Hello
- I have been a user on Wikipedia for a long time now. I wanted to acquire adminship to stop vandalism on particular pages that contain topics which are extremely communal in our country but are protected by extended protection. I request you to please nominate me as I gone through the Rfa guidelines and I think I am capable of being an Admin.
Thank you! Superbsic (talk) 08:17, 2 September 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Superbsic - thanks for taking an interest in adminship, but it is something where you will need years of experience and not days. I think you may have confused adminship and what we call extended confirmed, where you require 500 edits and 30 days of experience to become edit certain pages. Might I also suggest that spamming several admin's talks with requests to be nominated for adminship is not the way to go about this. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 09:11, 2 September 2020 (UTC)
- Might I also suggest not removing sourced content at Bajrang Dal against consensus and pushing a POV? Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 09:13, 2 September 2020 (UTC)

On 3 September 2020, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article 2003 World Snooker Championship, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. RfA Flight Candidate?
Hi Lee. At one point I think you hinted that you might have someone interested in running in the RfA flight. Did I get that right? If so are they still interested? Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 02:23, 3 September 2020 (UTC)

Review
Hi Lee, I know we're "in competition" at WikiCup etc, not that it really matters too much, but I was wondering if you'd be able to take a look at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/1993 Football League First Division play-off Final/archive1 for me? I do appreciate your reviews and they've been helpful in highlighting issues that I'm just now too close to the subject to see. No worries if not, busy times for us all. Cheers. The Rambling Man (Hands! Face! Space!!!!) 20:51, 3 September 2020 (UTC)
- TRM - we aren't in competition, I've resigned myself to at best second place! Sure I can look at it. I also have an FAC open at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/1984 World Snooker Championship/archive1 if you'd like to do some QPQ. Might take me a couple days though! Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 20:54, 3 September 2020 (UTC)
- Yes, no worries, I'll add it to my review list. Cheers. The Rambling Man (Hands! Face! Space!!!!) 20:55, 3 September 2020 (UTC)

Why does it bother you what is added here as long as it is helping out ?. You seem to want to run wikipedia as if you own it which you do not btw?. 80.233.81.98 (talk) 16:50, 5 September 2020 (UTC)
- I'm sorry - I'm not sure what you are asking. I believe this is about the changes to several snooker players articles regarding how we treat Power Snooker. However, this is being changed, and been reverted, so the next part of the wheel is to Discuss. We do have a discussion already ongoing at WT:SNOOKER#Career finals which is against this change currently. I ask you to describe the proposed changes there instead. Hello Lee, I'm doing some counter-vandalism and wanted to ask your opinion about this IP user's recent edits. Not sure what to make of it. I think that you should take a look to make sure its all ok. Thank you, History DMZ (talk)+(ping) 09:34, 6 September 2020 (UTC)
- 147.10.218.155 (talk · contribs · WHOIS)? I saw they made 22 edits to 2008 Summer Olympics, but I didn't see anything particularly vandal-rific. If anything it does look like good faith editing. Probably worth leaving a talk page message about using edit summaries though History DMZ! I can't say I know much about the Summer Olympics to know if there is anything particularly troubling in the particular edits. Hello
Hi, I was just curious, would you be willing to take a look at some of the GANs at Wikipedia:Good_article_nominations#Earth_sciences? NoahTalk 18:50, 22 August 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Hurricane Noah - sure. I can pick up a couple from next month (I'm planning to up my GAN intake). Sciences (and I suppose "earth") aren't my forte, but I'll do my best. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 19:07, 22 August 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you for taking a look at some articles. I know they are outside your editing area. I see you have a couple of topics you are working on. I am trying to get a featured topic accomplished for the 2018 Pacific hurricane season. Topics are not easy to complete, that's for sure. NoahTalk 13:34, 2 September 2020 (UTC)
- No issues Hurricane Noah. Snooker is no one's favourite topic! Quite happy to take a look at whatever you've got for QPQ (and I'll have things for review steadily for the next two months). Happy editing Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 15:03, 2 September 2020 (UTC)
- You should check out how large this topic would be. This is just one year of tropical cyclones. NoahTalk 17:43, 2 September 2020 (UTC)
- Only 81 articles? Clearly child's play! As an aside, I've been working on a good topic on last season's snooker results, and I'm about 70% through (like 33 articles), so there's hope! Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 17:47, 2 September 2020 (UTC)

- I haven't forgotten about the 2020 article... I will take a look this weekend. I did review the other FAC. If you would be up for the challenge, my one GAN summarizes all the storms in the topic I am working on (there were 26 official storms during the year). It isn't quite as large as Hugo was, but it should have a "non-expert" check it to make sure everything is understandable. NoahTalk 11:28, 10 September 2020 (UTC)
