List of World Heritage Sites in the Arab States[edit]

Hello! Any plan to nominate List of World Heritage Sites in the Arab States at WP:FLC? bamse (talk) 13:05, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Well of course! Anyway it would be better if you could show me the way :P. I'm still a rookie at this. Lerox-Donut (talk) 15:19, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I am new to World Heritage Sites as well, but have a little experience with featured lists. As far as I can see, the only major thing missing with the list is a decent introduction/lead. Possibly the intro of List of World Heritage Sites in Oceania could be adapted to this list. Definitely "Arab States" should be defined as well. If there is anything interesting to be said about Arab States WHS, of course it should go into the intro as well. Based on feedback from this FLC, I'd also swap the first two columns (that's what other featured World Heritage lists use), add some non-UNESCO sources and introduce a reference column. If you don't mind, I could share the work of making it ready for FLC. bamse (talk) 15:42, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I would certainly be glad if you are willing to help the list attain FL status. After all I've just entered a new semester in my university education and might be a little bit occupied to do a great amount of work in these weeks. My gratitude in advance for your efforts! Lerox-Donut (talk) 16:01, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'd start with the stylistic changes (swap of first two columns, additional ref column, joining "area (ha)" and "area (acre)" columns to save space) if I get your OK. bamse (talk) 16:29, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Stylistically it would look something like this table (not finished yet). bamse (talk) 17:05, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Looking good. Feel free to improve it, here's the OK.Lerox-Donut (talk) 04:28, 9 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Will start doing the stylistic changes when I get time. bamse (talk) 09:14, 9 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'll wait for the outcome of this discussion before I start. bamse (talk) 22:33, 10 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your edit of Xanthos on 31 July 2013 without a summary[edit]

Hi Dvl007, I noticed you edited [[Xanthos on 31 July 2013. Apparently you modified the "notes" option in the template, where you removed "{{designation list | embed=yes". This doesn't seem to have any visible effect, but I'm not sure why you did it because you didn't give an edit summary. Could you please explain your edit? --AlexanderVanLoon (talk) 08:37, 1 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Alex, I have made an earlier edit on Template:Infobox ancient site and it now has its own designation section, meaning you would no longer have to embed it in the "notes" section (so you can actually reserve it for notes and - here's the only visible differnce - putting a lone "site notes" header above doesn't look so good; call me a WikiFairy for that, but I do believe it looks better now). I should have given an edit summary but it must have slipped my mind - apologies and thanks for noticing, my friend. Lerox-Donut (talk) 11:56, 1 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, thank you for helping to improve the template! --AlexanderVanLoon (talk) 13:43, 1 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A barnstar for you![edit]

The Minor barnstar
I thought I was the only one adding Template:Infobox ancient site to dozens of articles, but now I've discovered you are my match :) Like me, it seems your interests and edits are also highly diverse. Thank you for all your edits! You don't tell much about yourself on your user page, but you do mention you're a university student. I'm curious, might you be studying something like History? I would also like to make a request to you: could you please give summaries for your edits? When I look at your "User contributions", I see you never enter them. AlexanderVanLoon (talk) 09:13, 19 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! And you are definitely right about the first thing - I do have a wildly broad range of interests, from architecture and film arts to history and geography. But I'm not a history student - I'm studying business actually, but that should never hold me back from making contributions to articles fitting my particular liking, in this case, regarding history (I'm such an avid fan of history, ever since my childhood). Finally I'd have to apologize for never getting into the habit of giving summaries - even though I was told to - and it's probably for the best when I begin to think for my fellow editors by doing this. Thanks again!Lerox-Donut (talk) 15:02, 19 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in Jessica Chastain, disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Do not add rowspans to filmography tables per WP:FILMOGRAPHY - short answer, they disrupt accessibility for screen readers. LADY LOTUSTALK 12:45, 14 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
