Hello Padres. I would consider granting your request but I notice that you haven't enabled email. It is helpful for people to be able to contact you if you are going to be making large numbers of edits with AWB, so I urge you to consider that. Thanks, EdJohnston (talk) 01:18, 24 August 2013 (UTC)

Done. Do you also recommend committed identity? Thanks. Padres Hana (talk) 11:23, 25 August 2013 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Problem

Hope you are well.

I have a problem, the pictures on Ras Abu 'Ammar and Kasla, Jerusalem are similar! Do you know which is correct? Huldra (talk) 20:28, 17 October 2017 (UTC)

Hi Huldra. Yes all the Kasla photos are wrong. Well spotted. The main picture does claim to be Kasla but the caption for the version used for Ras Abu 'Ammar mentions Beit Jala which I thinks makes it the more authentic. The first picture in the gallery is unidentifiable. The remaining four are captioned Beit Mahsir. I don't know why I got it all so wrong. Thanks again. Padres Hana (talk) 15:49, 21 October 2017 (UTC)
Yeah well, we all make mistakes! Thanks for fixing it. Could you please take a look at the remaining pictures in the commons cat for Kasla, Jerusalem, and check that they are correct? Huldra (talk) 20:53, 21 October 2017 (UTC)
PS the Hebrew version of Ksalon also uses the Ras Abu 'Ammar picture, I don't know how to fix that...Huldra (talk) 20:56, 21 October 2017 (UTC)
Heh, I just made my very first edit to Hebrew WP, and removed the wrong picture from the Ksalon article...Huldra (talk) 23:42, 21 October 2017 (UTC)

Bogus blue links

Please do not apply bogus blue links to the names of individual persons, that link to articles other than a biography of the person, as you did at Scottish Six Days Trial; this is most annoying (and misleading for the casual reader) and counter-productive to have the 'wrong' link purposely arranged.

I am grateful however to have my attention drawn to Graham Jarvis - I have images of him from a 1965 feature on his family's involvement in grasstrack racing, and in a 1987 book where his image is wrongly-related, illustrating delinquency in the Rocker (subculture). Thank you.--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 12:12, 8 November 2017 (UTC)

Apologies. Did you get them all? Padres Hana (talk) 12:31, 9 November 2017 (UTC)
Yes, thank you, I've looked through Scott and SSDT.--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 22:12, 9 November 2017 (UTC)
Plus FIM Trial European Championship, Erzberg Rodeo, and Red Bull Romaniacs Hard Enduro Rallye. I should have just started an article Graham Jarvis (rocker). Padres Hana (talk) 11:18, 12 November 2017 (UTC)

Palestine Customs flag

Hi, I wonder if you have seem a photo of the Palestine customs flag in your photo searches. There is an image at Flag of Mandatory Palestine, but I believe it is based on someone's guesswork. Here is the description from the Palestine Gazette, 1 Oct 1930, p789:

"The flag to be flown on Customs-House and Vessels in the service of the Customs shall be the Blue Ensign defaced by the word 'Palestine' within a white circular field. Vessels in the service of the Customs shall fly, in addition to the defaced Blue Ensign at the stern, a jack at the bow consisting of a square blue flag with a Union in the upper canton next to the staff, defaced in the fly by the word 'Customs'."

Notice how a "circular white field" is specified for the first flag, but not for the second. I can't prove it, but I suspect this is intentional and that "Customs" was written directly on the the background. Whoever drew the image put in a circular white field, without evidence as far as I am aware. A photo would clinch it. Zerotalk 04:41, 22 October 2020 (UTC)

I will keep it in mind. Not a thing I have paid much attention to. Thanks for the call. Padres Hana (talk) 17:42, 28 October 2020 (UTC)

Image addition on Tel Aviv article

Hi. I've noticed that you added this picture a few months ago. The problem is that section needs some space between images and there's already a picture for Tel Aviv in the 1920s right below (your images doesn't leave any space with the "1930 Survey of Palestine map" above). Could you fix that or just delete another image to make some room? I'm just trying to help. Thanks. Have a good week.--Hachan Base (talk) 13:38, 13 November 2020 (UTC)

Wikipedia Wars and the Israel-Palestine conflict...please fill out my survey?

Hello :) I am writing my MA dissertation on Wikipedia Wars and the Israel-Palestine conflict, and I noticed that you have contributed to those pages. My dissertation will look at the process of collaborative knowledge production on the Israel-Palestine conflict, and the effect it has on bias in the articles. This will involve understanding the profiles and motivations of editors, contention/controversy and dispute resolution in the talk pages, and bias in the final article.

For more information, you can check out my meta-wiki research page or my user page, where I will be posting my findings when I am done.

I would greatly appreciate if you could take 5 minutes to fill out this quick survey before 8 August 2021.

Participation in this survey is entirely voluntary and anonymous. There are no foreseeable risks nor benefits to you associated with this project.

Thanks so much,

Sarah Sanbar

I stand corrected.Padres Hana (talk) 21:09, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
Although it's unclear whether incidents where the victim was notable (Georges Besse from this removal) are covered by that, so it might be best if you ask at Talk:List of terrorist incidents before removing any more similar incidents. FDW777 (talk) 21:29, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
yes, I have acted in haste - I will revert my deletions. Just got a bit cross.Padres Hana (talk) 21:37, 1 March 2022 (UTC)

  • Hi, to evaluate drafts, I use a script and that automatically adds an invite to the teahouse if an editor has never been invited there. It doesn't check the editor's history. In this case, the script was very wrong as you are evidently a long-tile contributor. My apologies, I have struck the teahouse thing (but left it in place, so that in future this will not be repeated). --Randykitty (talk) 19:04, 14 March 2022 (UTC)
I accept all the points made. Though you haven’t pointed out that the glowing reference (not my edit) is a quote from one of the editors. But since I have 20 years worth of this publication and have started using it as a source for pages about Lebanon I think readers need to know something about where I am getting my information from. Particularly as I have now used it on dozens of pages. Or do I have to give its credentials every time I refer to it. I can do that but it will look very messy.

Lastly being identified as a new editor really hurts. I have been editing since 2008. 13,700 edits over 2,377 pages plus 2,109 entries to Commons. I have started 56 pages and this is the first one I have had difficulty with. In many ways it is the most robust that I have started. I am not impressed and extremely discouraged. Middle East International

Padres Hana, my impression is that whoever is declining to accept the Draft of your recent article, Middle East International, may be doing so because he/she does not see where the journal is cited as a reference in any Wikipedia article. Perhaps you can do that yourself, by reading through certain of the journal's entries and making the relevant citations from the journal in several Wikipedia articles, where applicable. Perhaps this will be enough to give the article its due approval.Davidbena (talk) 14:39, 25 March 2022 (UTC)

  • No, that's not correct. The problem with the draft is (according to two different reviewers) that it doesn't show why this publication is notable. But whether or not something is mentioned on WP or not has nothing to do with notability. It's in-depth independent sources that are needed. --Randykitty (talk) 14:52, 25 March 2022 (UTC)
I am having great difficulty proving MEI’s notability. Personally, having over 400 issues and having relied on it for news about the Middle East for twenty years until it ceased publication, MEI’s notability is self evident. Currently I am trying to establish some estimate of circulation numbers without success. I have found an article from MEI quoted in a book by Edward Said but I don’t see any way of incorporating it. I have had the list of remarkable contributors deleted. In desperation I have listed advertisers who bought adverts in the early editions - but that just looks silly. (Had to join the National Library of Scotland to find that out. So not entirely a waste of time). Examples where I have used MEI are Michael Aoun#Liberation war against Syria: 1989 and War of Liberation (1989-1990). So my wife has just tested positive for Covid... what is the Borgart quote about ‘a hill of beans’? Padres Hana (talk) 20:56, 25 March 2022 (UTC)
