Question about italic titles

Hi, thanks for approving the draft article I wrote. Do you know how to italicise article titles? So for example if you look at Monroe v Hopkins the title is in italics; I need this for Kirkegaard v Smith. Sheldon1567 (talk) 14:46, 18 July 2021 (UTC)

It's been done for you here; you can use {{italic title}}. ―Qwerfjkltalk 14:59, 18 July 2021 (UTC)

Request on 11:25:06, 22 July 2021 for assistance on AfC submission by Excellenc1

Let me first talk about the insufficient context sentence wise.
The Departmental Council of Gard (French: Conseil Départemental du Gard, Occitan: Conselh Departamental de Gard) is the deliberative assembly of the Gard department of France.: This simply mentions that a certain departmental council is a deliberative assembly (a meeting of members who use parliamentary procedure; a smaller version of the parliament) of a certain department in France, link to terms are given for meaning.
It consists of 46 members (general councilors) from 23 cantons and its headquarters are in Nîmes.: This says that the above mentioned council has 46 members elected from 23 cantons of the department and its head office is in the commune of Nimes.
Then comes a list of vice presidents of the council, now cited with 2 self-published reliable sources.
The article as of now has four good citations, and the article can be easily understood by anyone (although I accept the fact that some might not get what a department is). Similar articles on the topic (made by me) were also accepted. (Visit the last few departmental council links on my userpage) Excellenc1📞 11:25, 22 July 2021 (UTC)

Accepted. Please do not use the AfC.process if you have experience in creating articles; it just adds to the backlog. Thanks! ―Qwerfjkltalk 12:34, 22 July 2021 (UTC)

Qwerfjkl I am worried if I do any mistake and get my article speedy deleted, so I still work with the AfC process. Excellenc1📞 13:08, 22 July 2021 (UTC)

About you

I didn't know what do I put as the headline, so sorry if I messed up. Also I don't know if I should ask this on a talk page, so inform me if I shouldn't.
As per your userbox, you have been here for 5 months now. How did you, in this short period of time, become an extended confirmed user, pending changes reviewer, rollbacker, autoconfirmed user, Apprentice Editor (and some other titles)? I have been here for over an year, I still am an editor with just 830 edits. Is it because you knew all about Wikipedia before joining or you were too dedicated to Wikipedia for 5 months? Excellenc1📞 13:06, 22 July 2021 (UTC)

@Excellenc1 My edit count is mainly due to WP:AWB and WP:CTIOC (though that is irrelevant and doesn't reflect any experience). Rights are fairly easy to gain if you are eligible, and I have previously done large amounts of anti-vandalism work. Mostly, it comes from the fact that I spend a lot of time on Wikipedia ―Qwerfjkltalk 13:12, 22 July 2021 (UTC)

Change your award

As per the edit count here, you have made 20342 edits (in English Wikipedia). But your Service Award Progress says you have 9220 edits. Is it because you didn't update your template? Excellenc1📞 05:46, 24 July 2021 (UTC)

About making changes to the Dharampal page on Wikipedia

Hi, a few weeks ago, I had a discussion with you on a Wikipedia entry where the changes were rolled back repeatedly (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dharampal).

At that time, an analysis showed that the IP-Check-Tool on Wikipedia seemed to identify as violations, publication information (such as book title, author, etc) as well as run of the mill phrases (such as, (i) “…thinker, historian and political philosopher”, (ii) ”… of the cultural, scientific and technological achievements of Indian society on the eve of the British conquest” (iii) “Gandhiji’s call for Individual Satyagraha in October 1940”,).

In light of this discovery, it was concluded that there were no violations of IP or copyright in the changes being made. Today (and yesterday), I have made significant changes to the previous text in order to provide a reasonably comprehensive summary of Dharampal's life and work.

I am burdening you with this information as a measure of precaution intended to prevent a recurrence of a roll-back on the Wiki entry.

Thanks and sorry for the longish message and the bother.

Relisting

Your relisting contains a strange relisting comment "Consensus is on merging or deleting". If there is consensus, the discussion should be closed instead of relisted. Or if there is no consensus, you should not make that comment. Or if you agree with merging/deleting you should participate in the discussion. Marcocapelle (talk) 05:53, 25 July 2021 (UTC)

Thanks for your quick response to my latest edits of Richmond Jay Bartlett. Please clarify what in my article needs more inline citations. I believe that the direct quotes (2) and material needing a footnote have been referenced with inline citations and footnotes in the References section.

@Caribou J The sections 'Early life and education' and 'Professional life' only have one citation each. Also, please remove the external links (convert them into either wikilinks or references) per Wikipedia:EXTERNALLINKS. Thanks! ―Qwerfjkltalk 19:20, 25 July 2021 (UTC)

Dear Qwerfjkl,

I have revised and re-published the article on Richmond Bartlett. I converted the external links in the body of the article to Wikilinks, and I added relevant references to the Early life and Professional life sections, per your advice. The new text and references also bring more cohesion to the overall article between Bartlett's professional/personal life and his research accomplishments.

Thanks, Caribou J (talk) 19:25, 27 July 2021 (UTC)

@Caribou J Hi, adding some online sources would be helpful, as these are easy to verify. I added some [citation needed] tags to where citations would be helpful. Thanks! ―Qwerfjkltalk 19:41, 27 July 2021 (UTC)

I have added a citation to an online source in the two places in the article where you recommended having this. It references & verifies his retirement and death dates, along with dates of professional advancement that I included in the article.

Thanks, Caribou J (talk) 21:04, 27 July 2021 (UTC)

Hi Qwerfjkl,

Thanks for accepting this article and posting it, but I noted that after you did this, another editor removed the two figures from the revision that you posted. They really are central to the article, are referenced in the text, and illustrate key ideas of Bartlett. Can you put these back in for me, or what is the protocol on this?

Dear Qwerfjkl,

In re-reading the sections that referred to Fig. 1 & 2, I can see why Elmidae determined that they were peripheral, and I edited out the relevant text. Thanks for all your advice and help in getting this published.

"Unexplained content removal"

Hi Qwerfjkl, regarding the article about Naina Sharma, the removal of content from a BLP can usually be treated as a neutrality concern or a verifiability concern. It thus doesn't necessarily require an explanation, and reinstating the material requires verification, ideally using an inline citation (WP:BURDEN). Standard summaries like "Fixed typo" can be generated by clicking a button in the Wikipedia app, which the user has done there. That's rather laziness than malice. Question about Draft:We Plug Good Music

Hi there, thank you for your review and feedback on the page I'm creating https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:We_Plug_Good_Music

I was following the feedback given from the previous reviewer, who asked me to add more extensive coverage via independent sources, which is why we added more references from Guardian and new references from MTV as well as from Complex. I wasn't trying to do a notability bomb so I appreciate the alert to it.

Would you suggest to remove these references and find others? Or should we find other references to add to what is already cited? Any help would be much appreciated, thank you.

False citation

The changes I made to the article more accurately reflect the New York Times article used as the citation by the previous poster. The article cited DOES NOT SUPPORT the conclusions the Wikipedia entry asserts that it does. A quick reading of the article shows that there is no mention, for example, of lockdowns forcing anyone into poverty as the Wikipedia article asserts that New York Time's article concludes. This use of false citations is clearly an attempt by a politically motivated individual to portray the government lockdowns as being detrimental to the American economy and bolstering that claim by citing to a publication that is generally seen as taking an opposing political position. The problem is that the article DOES NOT state what the author of the Wikipedia page claims it does. I took the liberty of amending the statements so they more accurately reflect the content of the source cited so that I can help Wikipedia stop spreading dangerous fake news. 208.125.143.178 (talk) 14:06, 5 August 2021 (UTC)

Well then doesn't the original reference on Wikipedia have to be removed? Let's try to use some logic here. If the original reference is left on wikipedia then it must have a secondary source. Right? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.239.254.11 (talk) 12:39, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

AfC redirects, take 2

I'm finally going through my backlog of pings. I got to User talk:Qwerfjkl/Archive 2#Wikipedia:Articles for creation/Redirects and categories. It is quite annoying that declines collapse the whole box. Maybe we should recommend that if reviewers want the requesting user to answer a question or clarify something, they should use the "Comment" action, reserving the "Decline" action for hopeless requests? Enterprisey (talk!) 07:16, 9 August 2021 (UTC)

@Enterprisey Most requesting users don't check back, so it would have to be declined after an acceptable period of time. It would be preferable if a message similar to the normal AfC one could be posted on their talk page. ― Qwerfjkltalk 08:26, 9 August 2021 (UTC)

CFD closure

Hello, Qwerfjkl,

CFD closures are tricky, even for an administrator, and you closed Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2021 July 15#Category:Low-power FM radio stations incorrectly. If a category is renamed, you don't create a new page, a bot moves the old category page over so you retain the page history and the bot recategorizes all of the contents, you don't do this manually unless you are dealing with a very small number of categories (say, less than 10). Until you have a lot more experience, please do not try to handle CFD closures unless the decision is to retain/Keep the current categories. If you want more guidance, consider asking admins & editors who do lots of CFD closures for help as the process is more complicated than closing an AFD or RFD. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 16:55, 9 August 2021 (UTC)

@Liz Thanks a lot for correcting me! I will probably come back to CfD renaming later (after gaining experience), and I will be forced to continue to use the script (Cat-a-lot) instead of the bot, which I believe requires admin rights. ― Qwerfjkltalk 21:44, 9 August 2021 (UTC)

Reliable Sources

Hi Qwerfjkl,

I see you declined my draft article on Securitize citing need for reliable sources. No worries! I have already cited articles by Bloomberg (definitely a top media outlet), Forbes, and a number of other serious outlets that adhere to journalistic standards. I also believe most statements in the article are backed up by a primary citation. Can you help me understand what else is necessary in order to clear this bar? Happy to revise or wait until better sources are available if necessary. Just seems to me the current sources are already quite credible.

Thank you!

The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encyclopedia. If you have not already done so, you must read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page. In addition, please remember:

  • Be nice to new editors. They are usually not aware that they are doing anything wrong. Do make use of the message feature when tagging pages for maintenance so that they are aware.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted. Please be formal and polite in your approach to them – even if they are not.
  • If you are not sure what to do with a page, don't review it – just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Accuracy is more important than speed. Take your time to patrol each page. Use the message feature to communicate with article creators and offer advice as much as possible.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. signed, Rosguill talk 17:05, 18 August 2021 (UTC)

WikiProject SpaceX

Hi. Would you be interested in joining a WikiProject SpaceX? If you are, can you please make a WikiProject proposal for it (I as an IP, can not make the proposal cause I would be stopped when trying to create the proposal page). @Qwerfjkl: — Preceding unsigned comment added by 100.2.238.109 (talk) 13:53, 19 August 2021 (UTC)

I'm not interested in joining, but I'd be happy to propose this for you. Qwerfjkltalk 14:13, 19 August 2021 (UTC)

Okay. Thank you. @Qwerfjkl:— Preceding unsigned comment added by 100.2.238.109 (talk) 16:53, 19 August 2021 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Category:Lists of Thor launches indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself. Liz Read! HI!

Hi, it's Eldolen (talk) 07:23, 25 August 2021 (UTC)Eldolen. Thank you for providing feedback on the edits I made on Elvenking (band). This message is just to acknowledge that, yes, they needed sound referencing! :) Thank you also for suggesting how to do it, as you know I am new to the community, but I look forward to contributing to it!
