Soap, this is lawrykid. I had sent a False Positive inquiry on Feb. 28th. You said you would post my page (Pervasive DataRush), but first wanted to ensure the original creator was ok with the changes. Actually, I was the original creator but have not been active for some time and lost track of my user name/password. Consequently, I set up a new user name and password to access and update. Thank you for your assistance. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lawrykid (talkcontribs) 13:54, 1 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks[edit]

Thanks for that - what tool did you use?  7  03:53, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It's actually just "top namespace edits" on the same page (i.e. Soxred's page). For some reason (perhaps high edit count), the all-at-once tool doesnt work on J04n, but the individual ones do. -- Soap Talk/Contributions 22:22, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks - I actually tried that too, but ended up with a server timeout. Oh well.  7  22:43, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

RE:Requesting you for Adminship[edit]

Hi, I thank you for your concern, and I assure you i will be more careful and more active, for now, the closed the RFA, per WP:SNOW, but I will rerun soon, with better contributions and less huggle mistakes, and I ll be more prepared for this, thank you again MaenK.A.Talk 12:28, 8 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Participation at my RfA[edit]

Thank you for taking the time to weigh in on my RfA. It was successful, in that the community's wish not to grant me the tools at this time was honored. I'm taking all the comments as constructive feedback and hope to become more valuable to the project as a result; I've also discovered several new areas in which to work. Because debating the merits of a candidate can be taxing on the heart and brain, I offer this kitten as a low-allergen, low-stress token of my appreciation. --otherlleft 14:36, 8 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your RfA Support[edit]

Soap/Archive 9 - Thanks for your participation and support in my recent successful RfA. Your confidence and trust in me is much appreciated. As a new admin I will try hard to keep from wading in too deep over the tops of my waders, nor shall I let the Buffalo intimidate me.--Mike Cline (talk) 09:52, 12 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks you[edit]

Hello Soap. thank you for adding the note to Cinosaurs page about my adding this editor to the SPI case. I have not done much with these over the years and I was working with two windows on this one as fast as I could. By the time I got to C's talk page you had already left a note. I didn't want you to think that I was ignoring my obligation to do this. You were just waay faster tha I am. Thanks again and happy editing. MarnetteD | Talk 03:47, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Strange - I can edit the statement you added and save, but if I copy the statement and paste a second copy I get the error message. 99.150.255.75 (talk) 04:22, 15 February 2010 (UTC) 99.150.255.75 (talk) 04:22, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Weird - when I post I see a message about repeating characters (cur) (prev) 04:22, 15 February 2010 99.150.255.75 (talk) (6,329 bytes) (Template with image) (undo) (Tag: repeating characters) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.150.255.75 (talk)
Possibly because you signed twice? Sigs are seen as just being ~~~~ by the edit filter. Soap 04:26, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
That would explain it - I wish that the signbot had noticed and moved one of them down to my next unsigned post. 99.150.255.75 (talk) 04:29, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I see now that it is the "position": "fixed" (without the quotes - I can't even add position text here without the quotes ) part of the statement that is disallowed for me. I can add all of the rest except for that. 99.150.255.75 (talk) 05:00, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This produces an ugly page - maybe it should be added to the edit filter[edit]

I tried to trick the filter - it was rejecting the "fixed" command - so I added a comment in front of it. Boy does it make the page ugly - strange - my talk page looks ugly - but not yours. Maybe because I have it at the top. Anyway - adding the comment before the "fixed" text fools the edit filter

Yeah, that's one of the "loopholes" I was worried people would figure out ... if you are wondering what the purpose of this filter is for, it's because position:fixed could be used for things much more malicious than a smiley face. You could theoretically put a whole page full of black, and people wouldn't even be able to use the "view source" or "history" buttons ... in fact someone did that not long ago to a major page (even though we thought it was full-protected) and that's why this filter is so much stricter than many others. Soap 13:11, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yep - stick the div line at the top of the page and it messes the whole page up. 99.150.255.75 (talk) 05:12, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ah - anything after the div line gets stuck to the div line and put on the bottom of the page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.150.255.75 (talk) 05:13, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ah Ah! I didn't add the on there. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.150.255.75 (talk) 05:19, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No Problem[edit]

Sorry for the confusion. And yes I agree - I was kind of wondering if I shouldn't have said that name in the edit summary. :P -WarthogDemon 03:15, 25 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Re: typos[edit]

I think you are right about the first two: the quotation should read "fleeing" & "from", not "gleeing" & "form". (I went ahead & fixed them.) However, if I remember the passage correctly, Schuver was posing this as a possibility, prefixing the quotation with something along the lines of "is it possible..." -- which is why I left the question mark in. If it is distracting, I have no problems with removing it. Thanks for catching that! -- llywrch (talk) 20:55, 27 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You are just about correct, Coldplay Expert. There are lots of contributors who I think could become great admins. NerdyScienceDude :) (✉ click to talkmy editssign) 02:51, 6 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well I used to be just like you. I thought that If I make friends with everyone, I'll just be given the mop. Well if you want to be one some day, you'll need to do alot of hard work such as GA's and FAC's ect. The standards have gone up and it won;t be long until they only acept those who have a clean block log (too bad for me).--Coldplay Expért Let's talk 02:56, 6 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the offer, but I'm a little too busy right now to take on any additional duties. When and if I do feel ready, I'll let you know, but I'll probably want to go with the person who originally offered to nominate me last fall. Soap 14:32, 6 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

About the "Numbers and symbols replacing letters" deletion[edit]

My edit to satiric misspelling last seen here:[2] was one I made with my fingers crossed, hoping that it might only be trimmed (I did add a lot of links.), but afraid that it would be deleted altogether as you did. While not exactly 'satiric', that was the only place that came to mind for its placement. The use I mention and examples I give are not leet (as I pointed out in the edit), so where can it go if anywhere? Is there absolutely no place anywhere on Wikipedia for a description of the use of numbers in place of letters? How about transformation of text? (seems more like a computer text thing.) Sure is common enough to suggest a mention somewhere, eh? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 4.254.83.14 (talk) 02:38, 8 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Please help with an edit filter problem[edit]

Re your message: I figured it out, but I think it might be a bug in the Edit Filter depending upon how one looks at it. Since we are discussing a private filter, I'm going to send you an email about the problem. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 04:04, 8 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not really sure. The publications would be fine if they were reasonably longstanding (there's lots of smaller magazines that have long since folded.) I'll take a look at my print archives and see if I can find any more info. Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs(talk) 14:12, 8 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

My user page[edit]

Thanks for the attempt to tidy up my user page. Unfortunately, the change you made alters the height of the box, and this throws the whole page out of alignment on other browsers. So I have gone back to the original, slightly scrunched, version. Which browser do you use?

Thanks too for reporting the Runtshit sock. This creep is tiring, but at least he gets zapped pretty quickly. RolandR (talk) 18:24, 13 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding your email[edit]

Thanks, Soap. I nominated both Airplaneman and The High Fin Sperm Whale because they both told me before I created the RfA page that they would accept. I'm still relatively new at this time, so I still make some mistakes. I don't mind having you as a talk page stalker. Of course, I would like to be an admin myself, but I don't feel ready at this time because of my (sort of) newbie mistakes. I also think my UAA submissions are getting better. While I may have improved, there is certainly room for improvement. NerdyScienceDude :) (✉ click to talkmy editssign) 02:21, 14 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

WEll you can always be adopted by someone. Try to do some content creatino as well. We could always use more people over Wikiproject Ships!--Coldplay Expért Let's talk 02:24, 14 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
To Coldplay Expert, I have created 5 new articles. They are Ragdoll Blaster, Brick Breaker Revolution 3D, New Mexico State Road 423, The Switch Beverage, and The Moron Test. As you can see, most of my article creations have to do with iPhone OS video games. NerdyScienceDude :) (✉ click to talkmy editssign) 02:29, 14 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Too bad. I could have used you to help me out in makeing every German WWII U-boat a blue link. Have you ever thought of being adopted though? That will get you along prety far and then you could go up for admin coaching and then an RFA in December or so. Me, I'll likely never acept an RFA for me now as I don;t really need to be an admin. Maybe in a a year or so but I don;t really need the extra responsibilites (or think that I can hadle them)--Coldplay Expért Let's talk 02:34, 14 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think possibly here too. Soap 23:14, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Not exactly. As you can see the current version (Well, at time of posting this not anymore, as i corrected it) contains vandalism as well. Apparently some vandalism revision was not reverted this morning, and subsequent vandalism caused me to revert back to that version. I reverted a bit further back, and now the article should be A-Ok. Oh, and i wish you the best! I hope you will recover from that sickness soon. Excirial (Contact me,Contribs) 23:28, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is List of names in English with counterintuitive pronunciations. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of names in English with counterintuitive pronunciations (3rd nomination). Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:04, 25 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
