Siditious

Hi, I noticed you deleted my page a while back and marked blatant copyright infringement. This is interesting since I wrote an article about myself who is a registered artist through ASCAP and I have published CD's as well as books and poetry. There are reviews of my CD available on newspaper websites that I can use as a published reference for my material. My newly published book called My Hyphy Life in Rhyme includes 356 sequentially poems which compose a story and were originally posted as a popular blog. The reason this is significant is because it marks the single largest rhyming autobiography ever written and possibly the longest single epic of all time.

Thanks for assuming I was trying to infringe myself. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Siditious (talkcontribs) 20:27, 15 May 2009 (UTC)

Geek Central

Hey, I noticed that you removed the geek central page that I added just a short while ago. I tried to do the hangon thing but that didn't work! It says that it was deleted because it doesn't indicate any significance or important... I think it's important that students know what their priviliages will be when they move up the school system. Is there anything I can do so that it doesn't get speedily deleted, and kept on?! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.159.117.118 (talk) 17:55, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the note. In general, probably not. Wikipedia is not really a collector of all facts, articles have to have some level of notability (a good rule of thumb is significant press coverage). This is both to focus in on what can be collaboratively contributed to (things which are of some broad interest) and because everything has to be verifiable (independently reported on in a published source). Most high school clubs and organizations do not qualify. I can appreciate that writing the article was a lot of work (we certainly always can use additional writers, so it would be a shame to lose you), but I don't see how Geek central can meet that standard. See also my reply on your talk page User talk:Ptptaylor. Thanks, --TeaDrinker (talk) 18:43, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the understanding, i can see how it isn't in the interest of wikipedia to be on there. Hopefully it won't put me off doing anything else!
cheers again! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.159.117.118 (talk) 08:11, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
I certainly hope to see you around in the future! Thanks, --TeaDrinker (talk) 18:33, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

Santa56 has been vandalizing

Hi TeaDrinker. A user named Santa56 has been vandalizing the articles of high schools in Utah, like changing the American Fork High School's mascot from Caveman to slug, the Logan High School's from Grizzwald to puma, and Timpanogos High from Timberwolf to cow. All of these edits are incorect, as I live near them, and know a little about them. I know how to undo the edits, but I don't know what I should do after that, so I trust that you can help me. Thanks. --Webdog1000 23:08, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the note, I have blocked the user. For a quicker response to this sort of petty vandalism, you might try administrator intervention against vandalism. Thanks again and keep up the great work! --TeaDrinker (talk) 18:32, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

Would you please

Could you delete these as well? Thanks. --evrik (talk) 16:40, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

Nice how you jumped right on the article supporting a manmade global warming consensus, but not on the article opposing this view. Did someone contact you about reviewing this article for deletion?--THE FOUNDERS INTENT TALK 01:21, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

I'm not sure what second article you are referring to. I have Scientific opinion on climate change on my watchlist since it is a frequent target for vandalism, but to answer your question, no one contacted me (such a practice is usually frowned upon; if you have come across it elsewhere please let me know). If you have further questions don't hesitate to send them my way. Best, --TeaDrinker (talk) 01:27, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

Ummmm, i just started?

I was not finished, i thought that we had more then 1 hour to add more to it. Can't i take a nap and come back or something??? Sheeshe... Also, the notability requirements say "Failing to satisfy the notability guidelines is not a criterion for speedy deletion.", and "note that the failure to meet any of these criteria does not mean an article must be deleted", and under the conditions for qualifications it states ""Has become the most prominent representative of a notable style or of the local scene of a city"". A full length album is being released, and there HAS been publicity of the works via the local club scenes. A lot of the underground clubs in the Cincinnati area are playing this music, and also it is catching on the net. It doesn't really matter i guess, because it's already been deleted... Anyway, i would like to just say that there is a band called Violent Work of Art, who could never get a record deal, and never was -- and never WILL BE -- played on the radio, but they're one of the biggest underground bands in Europe (and many other parts of the world), so, maybe some of you guy need to re evaluate what you should consider 'notable'. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Alex-Grim (talkcontribs) 01:17, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

re:Manhwa

Hi, TeaDrinker, I already went to WP:RFP, but my request was declined. And the vandal(s) is(are) likely a banned Japanese user whom I've known well (because I've reported to RFCU and they's been indefintely blocked for their wrongdoings) of per the tendentious same disruption at the article over months, and of course, I've tried to talk with them (him), but nothing ever returned. As you see, I started a discussion at the talk page, also nothing returned. So I sincerely request to make the article under semi-protection. Regards. --Appletrees (talk) 01:26, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for your spending time and effort for me. Sure, the above banned users that I suspect the anons are the same editors have great interest in any manhwa and manga related articles. They too know well that I care about the former (because I and Koreans or any editors who edit that they don't like have been watched by the biggest off-wiki Japanese forum, 2channel over for me 6 months but for others 4 years, and they know what articles I edit, and why I submitted many RFCU files on them). They've tried to corner me to violate 3RR rule over and over......More than 7 vandals and countless IP users are banned due to their stalking and harassing me as well. So could you put the article on your watchlist for the future? Thanks..--Appletrees (talk) 02:07, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

Hi
You removed my request of deleting User talk:Thermonuclear fission12 speedily, saying that WP:CSD#G1 doesn't apply to userspace. I disagree, and not only does WP:CSD#General_criteria explicitly say that it applys to all namespaces, there's also a lot of precedence for it, in particular a previous speedy deletion of the same user's page due to WP:CSD#G10.
The current users page is also similar to his recent vandalism (or unconstructive edit, or maybe even edit of a sockpuppet's page judging by the similar nonsense style?) of User:Darthchocolate14 (which was deleted in the meantime, but you should be able to still see it I guess?) and his vandalism of 12 (number). Because of that, I'd rather be strict with that user and still recommend speedy deletion, even if the current page is obviously not as harmful as an attack page. Cheers, Amalthea (talk) 09:53, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Hey, remember me?

I think we've met before. You were one of the people who thought I was just a one-time user. It was originally planned that way, yes. But I saw some things I wanted to change or improve here. Anyway, just wanted to say hi. Festering Rat Corpse (talk) 16:12, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Hi, TeaDrinker, I think I have put up with the Japanese OCN vandal's continued vandalism too much. I've tried to talk to the anon, requested to RFC but nothing but just vandalism on Zombie Hunter and Blade of the Phantom Master. These can be viewed as content disputes, but the two works are clearly created by Korean manhwa artists, and the anon keeps removing manhwa category (I don't delete manga category, but present a compromised edit). I think administrative action would be needed to the anon's behaviors. Also WP:3RR violation with obvious sockpuppetry account. Can you take a look at this case, especially at Blade of the Phantom Master and the talk page? Thanks.--Appletrees (talk) 23:47, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

These are the ip addresses with the same ISP at the articles. Also please take a look at this. Thanks.

--Appletrees (talk) 00:24, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for the kind care. Your comment is always thoughtful and warm. I can feel the warmness in this beginning of the summer(?). :) Have a great day or night!--Appletrees (talk) 04:56, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

Can you look at this 3RR violation?

Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/3RR#User:Jazz81089_reported_by_User:Appletrees_.28Result:_.29

The semi-protection does not seem to work, because an obvious sock account, Jazz81089 (he return after his 8 months break and did the same thing on the article back then) also keeps revering. Judging by the ongoing circumstance, I think the anon/account clearly violated 3RR rules twice, WP:RFCU did not work because the total number of Jazz81089 (talk · contribs) are under 15. (see the Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Case/KoreanShoriSenyou). I feel frustration on this matter because he does not seem to care about consensus and discussion. Block might really needed for him. Thanks.--Appletrees (talk) 17:06, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

Victoria Manor

This page is more relevant than most pages about nothing on Wikipedia. Their are pages about administrators which no one knows about. If an encyclopedia tells people about past events let this one be told instead of trying to delete it. This is NOT a "sand box" project or irrelevant page. Please leave this page along. Wikiedia would not be what it is if you kept deleting pages out of it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by FutureAirways (talkcontribs) 02:18, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

Hey, same IP vandal on manhwa

Hi, TeaDrinker, I come to ask you for another round to semi-protection of manhwa. I guess the IP vandal seems to try to evoke my feeling over and over. Same ISP and same edit for one year. The anon obviously appears to have no intention to develop the article with reliable source or discussion. Well, I don't want to do the same thing repeatedly and be dragged into edit warring or near 3RR limitation, so can you semi-protect the page? Thanks. --Caspian blue (talk) 01:52, 28 June 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for your message TeaDrinker. Although I have been around wikipedia for awhile I have never nominated an article for deletion before. I chose the tag name that I thought applied but was in error. I was hoping that my post on the talk page of this article would help any admin who came upon it, especially the part that mentions that this lady is not mentioned in any of Wilde's bios. Thanks for putting the proper tags on. Should I change the message that I have posted on the talk page for the editor who created this page? Thanks again for your help. MarnetteD | Talk 00:55, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

Hello again. I have been offline for a bit and only just saw your note. I have already contacted User:Lepetitoiseau‎ at his/her talk page. I left the "nonsense tag" notification. I was wondering if I should change it to something else. Is there a "hoax tag"? I have a feeling that we may not hear from this editor again since their only editing is [1] on Wilde's page and creating this article. I know that AGF is important, but, it seems a shame to me that this page needs to wait five days before removal. But that is just my opinion. Thanks again for helping me with this process. MarnetteD | Talk 03:35, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
Hello again TeaDrinker. The five days is up and this hoax has not been touched. I am just wondering what the next step is to remove this article. The creator of this page has made no edits since July 16th and I just hope that he/she has not been having too big a laugh at our expense. Please let me know what should be done next and I will be happy to do anything that is needed. Thanks and cheers. MarnetteD | Talk 08:28, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
Just thought that I would update you that admin JIP deleted this page. I notice that you have not edited for several days. I hope that you are okay and just on a vacation. Good luck and take care. MarnetteD | Talk 15:19, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

Interview?

Hello, we met at the fifth Seattle Meetup, I'm one of the computer science grad students doing some wikipedia research. We're kicking off a study on dispute resolution and were looking for a couple people in the Seattle area who might be interested in being interviewed. Would you be interested? (on a different note, we should talk further anyway, as I'm going to be carrying out some larger scale studies relating to things like the effect of welcoming on user participation.) Let me know!!! If not, do you know other Seattle Wikipedians that might be interested? Thanks, Leafman (talk) 21:49, 31 October 2008 (UTC)

List of Forgotten Realms characters

Hello.

I'm trying to build List of Forgotten Realms characters as a proper character list. Could you please restore the edit history of Belhifet for me, and redirect it to the list so that we can merge the content in? Thanks! :) BOZ (talk) 04:55, 10 December 2008 (UTC)

Thanks, and no problem. :) Maybe if some of the other admins don't reply after awhile, you'd be willing to restore some more? BOZ (talk) 05:07, 10 December 2008 (UTC)

Oops

I'm so sorry, but it appears that I lied during my last AIV report [2]. I said that it was fresh off of a block, but I misread it. It said December 1, I thought it said December 10 [3]. That's what I get for editing when I should be sleeping. If you feel you need to unblock, feel free to mention me and my blunder in the summary, but this user has a long history of the same disruption (virtually all of their edits). I apologize for this, I wasn't trying to mislead you. Apparition11 (talk) 04:17, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

Cool, thanks. Usually when I manually report somebody, by the time I click save, somebody else has already reported them because I always double check my facts. Of course the one time I don't... :) I thought it was still a good block, every edit since coming off that block has been the same thing that got them blocked every other time, but I just wanted to make sure you noticed it. Thanks for understanding. Now I'm off to bed :) Cheers! Apparition11 (talk) 04:34, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

  • I don't think the person is completely rational and is certainly not accessible to discussion and reasoning. I'm also guessing that he/she may have had a username in the past, and won't work from one now because of prior blocks (you cannot behave that way for long without earning a long block). There's also the issue of language: should someone who writes unintelligible sentences be editing the English wikipedia? ► RATEL ◄ 23:59, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
You may be right, certainly the user's disruptive editing is frustrating. I am hopeful we can resolve the issue without blocks or protection. It is perhaps annoying to have a poor version displayed at a particular time, but the important thing is to get to the right version in the end. If this keeps up much longer, I will ask another admin to become involved. Many thanks for your patience. --TeaDrinker (talk) 02:33, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

Scientific Opinion on Global Warming

Hi there,

I added a little paragraph to the page Scientific Opinion on Global Warming, simply stating that there is not a complete agreement among scientists about the 'climate change'. It was deleted citing that it vialited the nuetral point of view policy, but I think it reinforces it because the whole page says that there is a 'consensus' and 'agreement' among scientists and organizations when there clearly is not. I think it is fair to present both sides of the argument and let people decide where they stand, and I do not think this article shows the whole debate. Thanks. (talk) 21:43, 24 Februrary 2009 (UTC)

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on User talk:Saffronbroadcasting, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because User talk:Saffronbroadcasting is blatant advertising for a company, product, group, service or person that would require a substantial rewrite in order to become an encyclopedia article.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting User talk:Saffronbroadcasting, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. To see the user who deleted the page, click here CSDWarnBot (talk) 14:39, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

it was a speedy delete (I believe a CSD A7) by another admin maybe 2-5 mins before I saw it was recreated with no changes.--Bhockey10 (talk) 06:05, 2 March 2009 (UTC)

I may have an explaination, just looked at the article and re-searched the name and came up with some sources such as IMDB and others, I think the first article was short, unreferenced. It might have been spelled wrong, which is why there was no info earlier and possibly why you can't find the previous deletion.
thanks for all your work as well, have a good night! --Bhockey10 (talk) 06:26, 2 March 2009 (UTC)

It wasn't a question it was a statement of fact. And it had the desired effect. The page is now more accurate and the page was amended immediately. I'm not new to facebook, I just don't bother to log in very often. Thanks for your input. My favourite hobby here is correcting bad English and editing out bias which I do anonymously, as it's non-controversial and almost always nearly invisible. I couldn't let Sao Paulo go on claiming to be the largest metropolitan area in the Southern Hemisphere when its not any more. I can live with the current wording because it uses the word "city" which is up for debate too, but not yet provable in the case of Jakarta due to a hugely transient uncounted migrant population. OK bye.

Mary E. Black deletion

The text which is on the Nova Scotia Archives website was in fact created by me for the Archives. I inquired of the Archives whether it was acceptable to them for me to use the text for a Wikipedia article -- "Hi Lois. I have been thinking about ways to promote the Mary Black site and would like to create an entry on Wikipedia. Wikipedia entries always show up at the top of Google searches and a lot of people use it to get background information. I think ASH should be the ones to create the entry. However, I would like to use some of the same content on her life and work that we provided for the NSARM site. Do you have a problem with this? Naturally I would provide a link to the NSARM site as being the main resource for people who want more information. Thanks." They replied "Hello Fran:-- Sounds like an excellent idea! We have no problem with this at all, and will be pleased to have the prospect of additional traffic to our website."

I have both emails which I can forward. Should I put a comment on the article to indicate that the text is used with permission of the Archives? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Weaverfran (talkcontribs) 23:00, 23 March 2009 (UTC)

Mary E. Black deletion continued

Thank you for your response. I have been in contact with the Archives again and they replied as follows:

Hello again, Fran:--

I've had a good look at the Wikipedia draft article and at the directions provided by Wikipedia themselves.

1) The text you're proposing is verbatim (I think) from the ASH brochure produced to publicize MEB. ASH is the creator of that brochure....and holds copyright and intellectual rights. 2) The text you're proposing, i.e. the contents of the pamphlet, is on the MEB Website now as the 'Biographical Essay'. 3) The Crown Copyright can't be removed. It's a requirement for the footer on all pages of all Province of NS Websites. 4) Plan A would be to add a line to the bottom of the online Biographical Essay, inside the text box: '[copyright symbol displayed here] Used with permission from Atlantic Spinners and Handweavers, Halifax, NS'. A little clumsy -- double copyright, with ASH rights taking precedence on that page -- but might do the trick. 5) Plan B would be to authorize ASH to use the text in much the same way we authorize commercial use of images found on the NSARM Website -- a Rights Declaration Notice, signed off by us. 6) I think both, combined (Plan A and Plan B), would satisfy Wikipedia. 7) Please remember that if you want to include an image of MEB in the Wikipedia article, and if you select one from the NSARM Virtual Exhibit, we will have to authorize its use (via a Rights Declaration Notice).

Feel free to continue the dialogue!Best, Lois Yorke

The brochure that she refers to is not available online. Would it help for our group to make it available that way so that it is clear we have the copyright and therefore the permission to use its content in the article? If the Archives also added that statement "used with the permission of ..." to their page, would that also take care of any other concerns? Thank you. P.S. is there a way to continue a previous talk thread? I wasn't sure if I should start a new section or not. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Weaverfran (talkcontribs) 15:20, 26 March 2009 (UTC)

My edits to this article were constructive to the article and were very much NOT vandalism. I would appreciate it if you would discontinue from reverting my work. Thank you, 24.18.115.169 (talk) 03:20, 31 March 2009 (UTC)

Lawvolution.com

OK, I saw your note, but I don't see how this site is any different than Medopedia or many of the other sites on List of Wikis Wikepedia Site. In fact, my still very barebones wiki site on wikipedia was much more developed than the medpedia site. Also, would you mind sending me a copy of the code in the site you deleted so I can improve on it. I'd rather not waste my time trying to recreate it from scratch.

Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lawvolution (talkcontribs) 05:16, 4 April 2009 (UTC)

Lawvolution.com

Actually, the wikipedia page I created was just a start. If I have to build something like that and get an "independent source" (i.e. "someone else" with a different IP, wink wink) to submit it, I'll do that. You still didn't answer my question about obtaining the source of the wiki page I just started, so I can work on it some more. Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lawvolution (talkcontribs) 05:44, 4 April 2009 (UTC)

Invitation to Meetup/Seattle6, a focus group

Hello. I'm part of a research group at the University of Washington (Seattle campus), and my group is reaching out to Wikipedians in the Puget Sound area. We're hosting a focus group designed to gather information on what Wikipedians would like to know about each other when interacting on Wikipedia. Our end goal is to create an embedded application that helps people quickly know more about others' history and activity on Wikipedia, and we feel our design will be much more useful if it's based on insights of users like you.

I'm hoping that the chance to help out local researchers, to engage in lively face-to-face discussion with other Seattle Wikipedians, and to contribute to Wikipedia in a new way will entice you to join us. The session lasts 2 hours and snacks are provided - one is April 8 (Wednesday) starting at 6 pm and the other is April 18 (Saturday) starting at 10 am. (Sessions will be held on UW Seattle campus - directions will be sent after registration.) Your contribution will be greatly appreciated!

Willing and able to help us out? RSVP here. Want to know more? Visit our user talk page . Please help us contact other local Wikipedians, too! Commprac01 (talk) 17:39, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

Shawn Moon Deletion

TeaDrinker-- A page recently created by me was deleted within a matter of hours, and I am wondering if there is any way to bring it back. The page gave information about a published author, and well known business man in the state of Utah. I completely understand why this page may have appeared to be trivial, or unimportant, but I assure you, this is not the case. The person the page was about, Shawn Moon, is a highly sought after and searched for individual, especially in the Salt Lake City area, for two reasons. Reason One: He is a published author, with a book that is scheduled to hit stores within the next two days (April 7, or 8). While I do acknowledge that this book coming out is targeted at an LDS audience, I would like to point out that Wikipedia has other LDS authors in their database, and also, Mr. Moon has already begun work on his second book, which is a business book and will be targeted to a mass-audience, not just Mormons. Reason Two: He is a successful executive for a major company, FranklinCovey, with offices around the world. In this role, he is also a highly sought after Key-Note speaker for corporations of all kinds including Fortune 500 companies and particularly with the US military (Navy and Army). The page was created simply in order to provide more information on Mr. Moon to his readers, who may wish to research him further. I sincerely hope you will reconsider the deletion of this page. Thank you so much for taking the time to read and consider my argument. -mmcmm —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mmcmm (talkcontribs) 02:32, 7 April 2009 (UTC)

Shawn Moon
TeaDrinker- I received your reply, thank you for shedding some light on the reasons for the deletion of the page "Shawn Moon." I understand the need for references, and am happy to revise the page and add the needed references. However, being new to Wikipedia I am not exactly sure how to go about this. I am guessing you will reestablish the page to me, thus allowing me to work on it. (???) Please let me know what exactly to do in order to add the necessary changes, specifically references. Thanks again, -Mmcmm —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mmcmm (talkcontribs) 22:44, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
TeaDinker, I apologize for being such a pest! Clearly, I am new to Wikipedia because somehow when I wrote my last entry on your talk page, just a couple minutes ago, I must not have done it right because it appeared at the very top of your page just below the page summary and above the internal links box. I know this isn't where it should have been placed, so I am very sorry for the mis-step. Thank you again for your time, -Mmcmm

TeaDrinker-- I have gone in and added references to the page 'Shawn Moon' as well as a few revisions, most of which were details taken out that I felt were not needed. I hope the changes help. If there is anything else you feel could or should be done to the page, please don't hesitate to let me know. Thank You, -mmcmm —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mmcmm (talkcontribs) 16:22, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

Deleted??

I spent quite alot of my time tonight creating a page for The Victorian Transport plan. It is a scheme made by the Victorian Government which obviously, is a release into the public, and I am making it connect with articles. I wanted the article to be similar to this: [5], a similar scheme released by the Victorian Government 20 or so years ago. So please, If there is criteria that needs filling, could you please re-instate the article, but edit it to suit the whole copyright thing. It gets annoying when time is stupidly wasted just by a mistake. Forthevline (talk) 11:28, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the reply: I got my sources from this site: http://www4.transport.vic.gov.au/vtp/about/highlights.html Also, from the actual Transport plan: http://www4.transport.vic.gov.au/vtp/pdfs/vtp-01-intro.pdf It's a long term project and I think that it plays a signifigance for what's happening to transport in the next decade or so. Cheers. Forthevline (talk) 01:30, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

I slightly understand. Those other websites may have copied from the transport plan for information, with the same goal as my article, so they really don't own any rights to the plan- only the Victorian Government does. I also copied and pasted, but I was going to Cite my references, but dinner came up and I had to use the "hangon". Those are just my thoughts, Cheers.Forthevline (talk) 03:10, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

IPCC

Hi, IPCC in the UK is widely known as the Independent Police Complaints Commission. So I hope to change IPCC into a disambiguation page. Menwith (talk) 22:42, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
