My RfA

Thank you for your support during my RfA! It has decided to postpone making me an administrator based upon recent consensus (or lack thereof). Thanks for the kind remarks and I hope to continue to see you arount the project. Cheers, ZsinjTalk 08:34, 4 March 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for reverting vandalism on my page. Keep up those sharp reflexes! СПУТНИКССС Р 00:58, 5 March 2006 (UTC)

Shacknews article

Thanks for blocking 68.57.158.115 from vandalizing the Shacknews article repeatedly. He has been doing so for months now, much to chargin of many contributors to that article. Thank you :) sikander 03:25, 5 March 2006 (UTC)

Your opinion is needed..

On whether or not someone should get unblocked or not.

69.137.234.44 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log) was blocked a while back for persistant vandalism for a month. But it appears a good-faith editor, User:OsFan, has the above IP shared with someone else. OsFan has been blocked from editing for another 8 days. OsFan has requested to be unblocked so he can resume editing. I was wondering if we should lift the block on the IP so OsFan can edit? Moe ε 01:58, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

Lifted, as it is collateral damage. Sorry for the delay. Titoxd(?!? - help us) 23:47, 7 March 2006 (UTC)

Hi. I saw that you put the alternate "undeletion" template here as opposed to {{tempundelete}}. I see the advantages of not making them look at the history, but the one you used says "You are welcome to edit this article..." Which in fact I almost did to correct the broken ref tag before I noticed it was actually protected. Do you think that the underlying template should get edited to reflect the "we protect these while on DRV" thing? I've also proposed the page protection policy be explicitly extneded to cover this, since we do it all the time and it's been pointed out it is contra-policy. - brenneman{T}{L} 12:15, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

anon vandal

IP 212.138.47.18 should probably be banned. (talk) See [1], [2], [3], and [4] (changing the link to bad link). He does have some useful edits, but some of his vandalism is of the sneaky kind. You warned him about his behavior on Feb 12, but he's continuing. Thanks. --Fang Aili 18:42, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

WP 1.0

Hi Titoxd, Thanks a lot for signing up for WP1.0, and for getting involved already. I've already appreciated the pioneering activities of the tropical cyclones folks in organisation & assessment, so I'm really pleased to see you getting involved. I wanted to ask a couple of questions -

  • What area are you most interested in? Since I got to "know" you through the WikiProjects section, and since I coordinate that, I'd naturally encourage you to consider helping us there - but involvement in any part of the project would be great.
  • Where do you see the WP1.0 project going? That may seem a strange question to ask a newcomer, but I would like to reorganise the main project page in the next week or two, to reflect the fact that we are moving beyond the "Let's start this project" stage into a new phase. I put my thoughts here on the talk page, but I haven't had much feedback. One frustration on this project is that many of the participants are crazy overloaded Wikipedians who never get time to work on the project much! As an organic chemist I'm also someone who likes to lay all the issues on the table together, but I suspect many others prefer to discuss things one issue at a time! Having talked with the more active people like Gflores and Maurreen, I think we're moving towards a mini-consensus of focussing on the major topics first, and probably doing a trial version (WP:0.5?) later this year of perhaps 1000 articles that we have checked are decent. We would presumably expand the number before a full release were made, allowing us to bring in lists from the WikiProjects and FAs/GAs. Do you think this approach would work well, or do you think differently?

By the way, do you take your user name for Titanium dioxide? I uploaded the pic for that page!

Thanks again, I really appreciate your involvement, Walkerma 15:47, 9 March 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your reply and your postings. You have a lot of good ideas, I really appreciate the input. Walkerma 04:32, 14 March 2006 (UTC)

Admin Coaching

Hey Tito! How have you been? I don't want you to answer or do anything about admin coaching until you answer that! Now down to business, Bugs pulled out, see my talk page, and Ian13 has been made an admin, so if you could address that for me I will be much obliged. Also can coaches request trainee's? Ones that we know, and are on friendly terms with. It might more efficient with regards to giving advice and helpful pointers. Either way cheers, and I hope to hear from you soon! KnowledgeOfSelf 00:28, 11 March 2006 (UTC)

Indeed, I doubt Ben's ever coming back, and Redvers is currently being assessed for a nom (see his talk page), so if we could request trainees, that'd be good. NSLE (T+C) at 00:36 UTC (2006-03-11)
Thanks for the quick reply Tito! (sarcasim) :P KnowledgeOfSelf 00:46, 16 March 2006 (UTC)
No problem, I'd like to coach pschemp. I am familiar with her and her work. Also she is second in line. :D KnowledgeOfSelf 01:12, 16 March 2006 (UTC)
Indeed, thanks for getting back to me so quickly :P Originally Terence asked me to coach him, but since he's doing quite well at RFA I don't really mind being assigned one now. NSLE (T+C) at 01:24 UTC (2006-03-16)

My RFA

Thanks for participating in my RfA. It passed with a final tally of 98/13/10, just two short of making WP:100. If you need my help with anything, don't hesitate to ask.

Ban me

Since you are an administrator, I'd like to request that you please ban this account (User:Michelle T) because I changed my username and I don't want anyone taking this one and impersonating me. Also, please protect my user and user talk pages so the redirects to my new name don't get changed by someone. Let me know on my proper talk page, which this page redirects to (that's my new name). Thank you. Michelle T 19:40, 14 March 2006 (UTC)

Yes, the above is true. I did change my name. I am posting this message to confirm that no one is impersonating me. Remember, Ban the Michelle T account, not this one. BTW, your talk page has a pretty colour scheme. Thanks again. Miss Madeline | Talk to Madeline 19:46, 14 March 2006 (UTC)

My RfA

I'm extremely honoured. I just wanted to note that I have two Featured Lists and one Featured Article (instead of 3 FAs) and that I'm not so much of a regular in AfD anymore. You may also mention that I help maintain Portal:Mexico with User:Fito :-D

I also have a "no objection arguing" policy in RfAs (and have even opposed nominations on that basis) so if it comes to that I kindly ask you to deal with that. I would help you with that, of course, but that would be via normal talk page discussion. Needless to say, I would reply to questions asked to me directly. Please let me know if this is alright with you. -- Rune Welsh | ταλκ 13:05, 15 March 2006 (UTC)

Forgot to add. I'll accept the nom after your reply. I already answered the questions, though. -- Rune Welsh | ταλκ 14:03, 15 March 2006 (UTC)

Encephalon RFA

I know that you have been trying to get Encephalon to run for administrator probably almost as long as I have. I got lucky and caught him at a good time, but I don't wish to hog all the fun. If you wish to co-nominate, you may do so at User:Knowledge Seeker/Encephalon nomination. I have been drafting my nomination statement and it is nearly finished. I think we're planning to go live this weekend. — Knowledge Seeker 07:17, 17 March 2006 (UTC)

Good! It seems only fair. Any suggestions for changes? Do you think it's good enough? Regarding my signature, it's a letter in Bengali, the language of my people (see Bengali script). It's a beautiful language, with a beautiful written form as well. — Knowledge Seeker 03:58, 19 March 2006 (UTC)

Ok the weekend has come and gone. If you guys don't hurry up, I will nominate Encephalon myself. Paul August 05:54, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

Successful RfA

Thanks for your support and kind words on my recent RfA, which I am pleased to say passed with a final tally of 80/1/1. If you ever need any help, or if I mess something up as an admin, please let me know.

Cactus.man 08:08, 17 March 2006 (UTC)

Wikitest

I think you missed the point. Such a high score is a sign you need help. A lower score is what should be desired. You should not be proud of a 602. You need to check yourself in to a mental hospital somewhere. Really. I don't want to have to read here, someday, that you've gone and killed yourself. That's where you're headed, man, if you don't quit.

Admin Coaching

Hi Titoxd, since my RFA is not doing that well, I would like to be assigned to be an admin coach even if I succeed this RFA. Could I still have my original request? --Terence Ong 14:32, 17 March 2006 (UTC)

Once again, I have found two volunteers from the list who are willing coach me. They are NSLE and Jareth. Anyway, I've withdrawn my RFA. --Terence Ong 05:58, 18 March 2006 (UTC)
Confirmed. NSLE (T+C) at 07:39 UTC (2006-03-18)
You can add me as a third coach, if you wish. :) - Cheers, Mailer Diablo 15:34, 18 March 2006 (UTC)
Once again, I confirm the request for admin coaching. --Terence Ong 12:38, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

We have problems

--Taichi 10:05, 19 March 2006 (UTC)

I was wondering if I met most of the objections (or holds), since it is pretty much agreed that the copyright situation is a myth. While I felt the need for that to be there, we should use the article to help "myth-bust." User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 00:47, 19 March 2006 (UTC)

Tito, are you online? Do you think you could delete this page, so that Seeker's subpage can be moved properly to it? I've already moved the old page here. I'll go edit Seeker's subpage now, while trying not to die of embarrassment. ;-) Thanks —Encephalon 06:02, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

Thanks, Tito. 'Tis done. Shall I add it to the main board? —Encephalon 06:48, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
Wow. That was nightmarish. My wireless got disconnected four times, and I was sitting there twiddling thumbs, knowing the time/date line hadn't been adjusted per the history. Thanks for correcting it, Tito—one of the few times I've been relieved to be edit conflicted, because I knew you must have seen it. The pacific best-track can be downloaded from the NHC in the obnoxious "hurdat" format [5]. THe Atlantic best-track is available at [6] in many different useful forms, and I suspect the Pacific data has a similar "homepage" somewhere else with the easy-to-read and tab-separated forms. However I don't know where. — jdorje (talk) 08:25, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

Tawkerbot2

I've talked to Tim Starling and he made a change to the IRC feed which I think will stop the false blamings, I've asked Shanel to unblock whilst its in non commit (eg non editing / non warning / debug) mode. Just so you know, you can use "ctawkbot norevert" on the irc channels and it will stop the bot from editing only pages. A reply - Cyclone Larry

Hi Titoxd. Thanks for your message. I entirely agree that TydeNet's comments were inappropriate, that they were in breach of WP:NPA, and that personal attacks shouldn’t go unchecked. I don't think that anybody disagrees on this point. TydeNet has himself apologised (see the bottom of this page). I’ve gone back and read the archive and realised that you weren’t as involved in the discussion as I had assumed so I apologise for making that assumption and for reading your comments as a threat. . I felt that your warning could have been worded a little more directly to make it clear that it was a warning. I acknowledge that you intended your comment to be a warning, but it could have been read as a contribution to the debate (and from TydeNet's subsequent comments, it is clear that he did read it that way). I think it would have been better to clearly state that "your comments above constitute personal attacks. This is a warning that if you continue personal attacks you will be blocked". A similar warning should also have been placed on TydeNet's talk page. Mentioning the need to cite sources seems to have been read by TydeNet as a further contribution to the debate. I realise that it is a fine line, but to avoid confusion I think its just best to keep things clear. Whether or not your warning constituted a proper warning or was read as such, NSLE still shouldn't have been the admin to place the block and 31 hours was (in my view) excessive. He should have asked somebody else to look at it, and that was essentially my issue which I raised with him on his talk page. He chose to reply by focusing on the issue of your warning and ignoring the other issues I had raised. I think people are generally a bit tired of this debate and I think we’re probably at the point where we can move on. When NSLE returns from Wikibreak I’ll try to resolve my differences with him without causing him any more wikistress. I hope that everyone can take some lessons from the whole thing and move on. -- Adz|talk 03:20, 25 March 2006 (UTC)

Esperanza Newsletter, Issue #1

Reach out is a program aimed at allowing users to bring issues that they have had in Wikipedia to a listening, sympathetic and caring audience:
"No one can know how we feel if we do not say. We cannot expect to get understanding if we do not ask for it. No one will dispute that sometimes life's issues are too much for one person. It is fair to say that sometimes Wikipedia's problems fall under the same heading. This is a place where you can bring the bruises that can sometimes be got on this project for attention."
The Stress alerts program aims at identifying users who are stressed, alerting the community of thier stress and works in tandem with the Stressbusters at trying to identify causes of stress and eliminating them.
Note from the editor
Welcome to this new format of the Esperanza Newsletter, which came about during the last Advisory Council meeting - we hope you like it! The major changes are that each month, right after the Council meeting, this will be sent out and will include two featured programs and a sum up of the meeting. Also, it will be signed by all of the Advisory Council members, not just Celestianpower. Have an Esperanzial end of March, everyone!
  1. Future meetings are to be held monthly, not fortnightly as before.
  2. Bans and Access level changes (apart from autovoice) in the IRC channel are to be reported at the new log.
  3. In the IRC channel, there is going to be only one bot at a time.
  4. The charter requires members to have 150 edits and 2 weeks editing. Why this is the case will be clarified.
  5. A new Code of Conduct will be drafted by JoanneB and proposed to the Esperanza community.
  6. The NPA reform idea is to be dropped officially.
  7. Charter ammendments are to be discussed in future, not voted on.
  8. The Advisory Council is not going to be proposed to be expanded by the Advisory Council themselves, if others want to propose it, they will listen.
Signed...

Hi, I was wondering if you wouldn't mind lending your opinion to a content dispute that I am currently involved in on University of South Carolina. USC has a strong athletic rivalry with Clemson University. I feel that the athletics section of the article should discuss this rivalry, and I feel that this discussion should include a reference to the overall record between the two schools in various major sports. Other editors have disagreed, and feel that the record should not be mentioned. As it happens, Clemson leads in two of the discussed sports and USC leads in the third. I would appreciate it if you would consider lending your opinion on this issue on Talk:University of South Carolina. Thanks! Ëvilphoenix Burn! 00:47, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

I certainly agree that the coaches shouldn't be overloaded, but I think maybe a few of the people at the top of the list might be finished with their coaching. I'll try to do some leg-work and fill in for you a bit in that department. Enjoy your Wikibreak! EWS23 | (Leave me a message!) 03:55, 5 April 2006 (UTC)
Absolutely I'll contact the coaches before making any actions whatsoever; communication is the crucial thing. (BTW, when you get back you'll have 13 new admin coachees. ;o) ) EWS23 | (Leave me a message!) 04:00, 5 April 2006 (UTC)

My (HereToHelp’s) RfA

Thank you for supporting my RfA. I’m proud to inform you that it passed with 75 support to 1 oppose to 2 neutral. I promise to make some great edits in the future (with edit summaries!) and use these powers to do all that I can to help. After all, that’s what I’m here for! (You didn’t think I could send a thank you note without a bad joke, could I?) --HereToHelp 13:20, 1 April 2006 (UTC)

Thank you

Hello Titoxd, how are you? Thanks for your support in my RFA. The final vote count was (88/3/1), so I am now an administrator. I am very humbled by your comments and your vote of support. Please let me know if at any stage you require assistance, or if you have comments on how I am doing as an administrator. Once again thank you and with kind regards Gryffindor 18:57, 2 April 2006 (UTC)
