Idea to Proposal?

[edit]

Hi,

I was just wondering if you planned on moving your idea for the great set of protection symbols to village pump:proposals? Other than one good pending suggestion for a tweaked semi-protect symbol it's fairly steady so, other than that, it just needs shifting to proposals.

Not sure how time consuming that 1.5 things is, but it would be great to see it in progress since the discussion could take a while.

Hope school et al is well.

RfC formatting

[edit]

I don't know if it was intended, but this edit removed the time stamp that I put there to limit the RfC listing to the concise question. The listing pages should not be flooded with the "whole story" – or even close to the "whole story" – for each RfC. Interested editors will read the concise entry and click to go to VPR to read the background. See WP:RFCST item 3 and Wikipedia:Requests for comment#Statement should be neutral and brief. ―Mandruss  00:35, 26 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Mandruss: Sorry! I wasn't aware of the use of that timestamp and was trying to replace the sentence with the tl;dr one. XYZt (talk  |  contribs) – 00:38, 26 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

What do you think?

[edit]

I created File:Interface-protection-shackle.svg for interface protected pages. Since you did the others, any suggestions? Bellezzasolo Discuss 11:59, 13 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Bellezzasolo: looks good! The color is a bit too close to Full protection though and could be changed to orange/red. XYZt (talk  |  contribs) – 15:46, 13 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@XYZtSpace: I've recoloured it. I didn't go full out red due to history with REDLOCK and ORANGELOCK. Bellezzasolo Discuss 16:10, 13 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure what your reversions were about - the current record of his team, as of about 7 pm this evening, is 9:3. I think maintaining a week-by-week update is ludicrous, but if it's going to be updated at all, it should be updated to the current numbers. Regards, Tarl N. @Tarl N.: Sorry. Apparently the source I was basing my edit on wasn't updated with the latest stats. – XYZt (talk  |  contribs) – 05:13, 3 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, yes. Exactly why trying to do weekly updates is ludicrous, sources get updated at different rates. And Wikipedia isn't a newspaper :-). pro-football-reference probably doesn't get updated until tomorrow. The official source which gets updated within minutes is https://www.nfl.com/standings . Your edits to our periodic table colour scheme

[edit]

Hi, and sorry for reverting your colour changes. At WT:ELEM we've been aware for a while that there is a problem, and we've been having some discussions at User talk:DePiep and User talk:R8R to come up with an all-new better colour scheme (see User:R8R/PT search for colors for one of our attempts). However we're not really ready yet (especially since we'd need to keep everything consistent – the micro table in the navboxes currently has the same colour scheme as all the other periodic templates colouring categories), and your input would be highly appreciated! Recommend moving back NGIS page to Orbital ATK

[edit]

Reaching out to you as the originator of the move request of Orbital ATK -> NGIS in August 2018

The Article as currently written is factually incorrect:

  • the "Key People" listed in the box were relevant only to Orbital ATK and not to the Northrop Grumman NGIS sector
  • Article states that NGIS was the "aviation division of parent company Northrop Grumman" . This is absolutely false. NG had aviation in other sectors (see B2 and B21 bombers). NGIS did more than aviation (rockets, satellites, munitions)
  • The three groups listed in the article were named as "groups" only under Orbital ATK and got renamed to divisions under Northrop Grumman

The article as written is really about Orbital ATK and was attempted to be retrofitted into an NGIS article. None of the other divisions (or sectors) of Northrop Grumman have standalone articles. Conversely other companies that were absorbed into Northrop Grumman retained their original article (see Grumman). Further complicating matters, as the article states NGIS ceased to exist in 2020 due to a company reorganization.

Since the article really is about Orbital ATK, the historical company, and not about NGIS, the now defunct sector of Northrop Grumman. Recommend renaming back to Orbital ATK and retaining the historical focus of the old company, especially as the NGIS division existed for even less time than the original company.
