Contributors

[edit]

Antoinette (Chanteuse, Writer), Clark Bachelor (Director, Writer, Performer, Recordist), Se’an DeCastro (Writer, Operations Manager), Tracy Lovelace (Non-performing Writer and Musician), Spenser Michaels (Writer, Performer), Missing Lynx (Non-performing Musicians), Rising Sun Ave. (Producers), Marques Wayne (Writer, Performer, Musician), and a rotating lineup of collaborators.

History

[edit]

Infamous for being evasive to the point of invisible, they’ve stayed off the radar not only of the general public, but also of the most attuned underground eye. “We’re under the underground” 1 is how they described it in the liner notes of their 2000 – 2001 release “CITY VIEW.” They’ve politely turned down every offer ever suggested to them, no matter how prestigious or lucrative. Despite their tendency to play live shows under an alias, and usually playing very little actual +++GRAND GRAND GRAND+++ material, and with no promotion whatsoever, +++GRAND GRAND GRAND+++ has never stopped producing and performing music.

+++GRAND GRAND GRAND+++’s maverick path began when Director, Writer, Performer and Recordist Clark Bachelor was shopping their debut release “SOMEONE TO WATCH OVER ME” (1998 – 1999) to various record labels. He was, as he said in that year’s liner notes, “Disgusted by the abusively inhuman treatment of the artists at the large labels.” He went on to say, “I will not allow our artistic team to suffer the same fate.”1 Mr. Bachelor started a business for the sole purpose of funding +++GRAND GRAND GRAND+++ with the profits. And so they remained an oasis.

He first provided instruments to the musicians, and then recording equipment to the producers and recordists. Finally came duplication and distribution. As they became more and more independent, +++GRAND GRAND GRAND+++ began to mature artistically. They continued on in this fashion, up until the 2008 release “EVERYTHING ELECTRIC;” at this point Mr. Bachelor surprisingly granted one interview, with a fan sight based out of Leeds, England. With this came an announcement: “Yes. We are currently listening to offers of all sorts and we have agreed to become a substantially more visible public event.”

When asked the obvious question, “Why now?” the only answer given was, "Well, we noticed that fellow recluses Jandek and My Bloody Valentine were both on tour, so we took it as a sign.” 2

They are currently compiling the two-album ten-year retrospective “Assorted Years Assembled” (Vol. 1 and Vol. 2), due for a December 2008 release.

Gold Cup

[edit]

Can i start a wiki page about a new drinking game called gold cup that is spreading across universities nation-wide. There are no sources because it was just recently created. --Patriots427 (talk) 23:25, 15 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there and welcome to Wikipedia! While I am sure this is a very fun drinking game, you've said in other posts that this is a game that you and your friends have invented and that there are no sources as of yet. The fact is that Wikipedia is not for things made up one day, when you read that guideline make sure to get down to the part about Scrabble. When you create an article in our encyclopedia you have to be sure to establish the subject's notability in the article by verifying the information with citations to reliable sources, preferably by using footnotes. Articles that don't establish their subject's notability may be deleted. You may want to explore some alternative outlets to use to post information about your game. Thanks again for writing and be well. —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 07:23, 16 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and Welcome to Wikipedia! This particular article would be governed by the notability guidelines on companies. The rule of thumb here is noting whether the company has received significant or widespread coverage in secondary sources that are reliable and independent of the company (excluding company PR releases and information solely available on the company website—these sources may be used for additional information after notability has been established by secondary sources). All material must be attributable.
If you are able to assemble necessary sources to assert notability, you may certainly create such an article, although if you are closely associated with the subject, our conflict of interest guideline strongly recommends that you do not create or edit the article yourself, but instead consider proposing its creation at requested articles or at a related article or relevant WikiProject. If you do choose to write the article in such a case, you'll want to be particularly careful to approach it neutrally and without undue promotion.
Before establishing the article, please search Wikipedia to make sure that an article does not already exist on the subject. Help:Starting a new page should give you all the guidance you need, but you might also look at Wikipedia:Your first article and Wikipedia:How to write a great article. Please consider taking a tour through the Wikipedia:Tutorial so that you know how to properly format the article before creation. Good luck, and happy editing. :) Moonriddengirl (talk) 11:20, 16 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Adia McKenzie - Author

[edit]

Adia McKenzie was born in Chicago, Illinois and is of Caribbean descent. At age four she moved to Miami, Florida with her mother and older sister making Miami the place she considers home. At an early age Adia took an interest in the arts, writing in particular. She was a member of her middle school’s yearbook staff, as well as the yearbook staff of her high school and the high school’s newspaper staff. In the years following her graduation from high school, Adia continued to write for recreation until 2004 at age 22 when she began to write publicly.

Although amateur in style, Adia’s first published work was an excerpt in Midnight Expressions in the Erotic Zone, (R.O.G. Publishing) a book that also included pictures of the author. Shortly after that she became a contributing writer with Success South Florida and MIA magazines on a continuous basis. In the midst of writing for these publications part-time and working in South Florida’s booming hospitality industry, Adia took the time to pen her first novel entitled, Ana’s Magic, How far would you go for your Dream?

After spending a year and a half shopping for a publishing deal and an unsuccessful contract to be published through an established publishing company, Adia still had faith in her project. In 2007 she incorporated Pink Publishing Inc. and published Ana’s Magic, How far would you go for your Dream? herself. In April 2008, her first novel became a tangible reality.

Adia still works full time in the hospitality industry and is a college student in South Florida, working towards a degree in Marketing Management. She has also completed her second work of fiction, available spring 2009.

Adia McKenzie's books can be purchased at www.pinkpubinc.com —Preceding unsigned comment added by Adiak (talkcontribs) 19:01, 16 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, and Welcome to Wikipedia! :) In order to create an article about that person, you'll need to be able to assert notability per Wikipedia's notability guidelines on biographies, which will mean utilizing reliable secondary sources, like newspaper articles. We have a specific section with some criteria for writers, here. An article of this sort would be covered by Wikipedia's guidelines on "biographies of living persons", which in part urges editors to be extremely careful not to include any information that isn't sourced, even if it's true, and also reminds us that biographies particularly must be written from a neutral point of view.
I don't see anything in the above to suggest that this individual currently meets those guidelines, but if you read over those guidelines and can demonstrate that she does, you may choose to create the article yourself, although if you are closely associated with the subject, our conflict of interest guideline urges great caution, particularly with neutrality and not adding information you know to be true but cannot verify. It is strongly recommended that you do not edit an article on a subject with which you have a conflict of interest but instead consider proposing its creation at requested articles or at a related article or relevant WikiProject. Gold Cup cont.

[edit]

While I completely understand that gold cup might not be notable because it has no references, but then why does a game such as land mines have a wiki page even though it does not have any sources.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Patriots427 (talkcontribs) 01:34, 17 October 2008

You may note now that Land mine (drinking game) has been nominated for deletion along with several other game articles. Thank you for bringing it to our attention. —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 10:53, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
WP:OTHERSTUFF, though specifically for deletion debates, may help clarify that. Basically, the existence of article x is not always helpful in determining the fate of article y, since articles are developed independently and article x may not meet guidelines and/or policies itself. Articles that have gone through review processes such as Wikipedia:Good Articles or Wikipedia:Featured Articles may be good templates to emulate, but even then it's always good to review the relevant policies and guidelines in case there is a subtle distinction that isn't immediately obvious. (Just as an example, Alice in Chains is a featured article and a person wanting to write an article on a band could find worse articles to model, but if the band in question doesn't meet WP:MUSIC, it won't matter.) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 10:58, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

911 attacks, the financing and motives

[edit]

Former Pakistani Intelligence,(ISI),Chief General Mahmoud Ahmad has been firmly linked to Ahmad Umar Sheikh, who was, in turn directly linked to a wire transfer of $100,000 to alleged lead hijacker Mohammed Atta. This transfer of funds took place in the weeks before the 911 attacks at the direction of General Mahmoud Ahmad. This critical aspect of the 911 attacks was deliberately ignored by the 911 Investigative Commission. http://www.globalresearch.ca/articles/CHO206A.html

As a result of this discovery, General Ahmad was relieved of his duties as Pakistan's Intelligence director, but no record exists of a desire by any US law enforcement agency to interview him regarding this fundamental aspect of the 911 attacks. There is evidence that shows Ahmad was fired at the request of the FBI after the agency confirmed his role in the wire transfer through independent sources.

The US support of the State of Israel's policies, methods and actions in it's treatment of it's Palestinian neighbors has been widely recognized as the motivating factor behind the 911 attacks, yet this aspect of the mass murder has been systematically ignored by the 911 Investigative Commission and the mainstream media. —Preceding unsigned comment added by ScaryTruth (talkcontribs) 23:09, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I'm not sure what you're proposing here by way of writing a new article. There is already an article on Mahmud Ahmed. There is already an article on 9/11 Commission. Any of this information, if properly verified by reliable sourcing, may be appropriate for inclusion in one of these, though it may be necessary to determine consensus for that at the talk pages of the relevant articles. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:00, 21 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. The governing notability guideline here is WP:WEB. The basic question is whether the website has received widespread coverage in reliable sources that are independent from itself. (PR releases, for instance, do not help establish notability—these sources may be used for additional information after notability has been established by secondary sources.) (Other factors may also help determine if the website is notable; you can read them by following the first link.)
Ravan/ Ravana/ Rawana/ Rawana

[edit]

Ravan is considered as a greatest villian in the history of hindu mythology. But in fact he was not villina at all. He was simply trying to protect his family and his kingdom. His birth was planned by his grand father. His grand father who was once King of Lanka(now srilanka) was over thrown by indra and Bishnu. Lanka was rich in Gold mines which every body wanted to use it. It is believed that mankind was divided into 3 groups- Rakshas, Dev and mansih. Dev were talented, rather they were genius. Rakshas were powerful and strong for battle. And manish were local human average in all. And Ravan belonged to rakshas whereas, Indra and Bishnu belonged to dev. They cheated rakhas and attacked them. Grand father of Ravan was living like refugee. Then oneday he got an idea; idea to mix the intellegence of dev and power of Rakshas. He sent his daughter to marry one of the great inteligent thinker and father of Kuber who was ruling Lanka in behalf of Indra.Then he agreed thinking to end up the war between Rakshas and Dev. Ravan was borned along wid two other brothers and a sister. Since his childhood he was against poverty, against the domination and every those things for which people are fighting for these days. But at that time he was proved wrong by every one. He was talented and strong as both of them were in his blood. He was trained both by his father and his grand father. Finally he became strongest person in the world and it was obvious he attacked his step-brother to get back his kingdom.

Hi, and Welcome to Wikipedia! :) In order to create an article about that person, you'll need to be able to assert notability per Wikipedia's notability guidelines on people, which will mean utilizing reliable secondary sources, like newspaper articles. An article of this sort would be covered by Wikipedia's guidelines on "biographies of living persons", which in part urges editors to be extremely careful not to include any information that isn't sourced, even if it's true, and also reminds us that biographies particularly must be written from a neutral point of view.
It does not sound as though this individual would currently meet our notability guidelines. If he does not, an article on him would be inappropriate. There are many web providers on the internet that host personal web pages which might be more appropriate for hosting this content.
If you are able, though, to assemble necessary sources and if your subject meets the notability requirements, you may choose to create the article yourself, although if you are closely associated with the subject, our conflict of interest guideline urges great caution, particularly with neutrality and not adding information you know to be true but cannot verify. It is strongly recommended that you do not edit an article on a subject with which you have a conflict of interest but instead consider proposing its creation at requested articles or at a related article or relevant WikiProject.

Ring Of Scars

[edit]

Metal band from FL since 2003. Based around several concepts branching from math to science to human nature and emotion. Since it's inception, the bands line-up has changed several times, having passed through 10-12 members and having stopped at a resting point at the current 5 piece line-up.

The debut album, "...Things of the Past Vol 1", released on Corrupted Media (a small recording studio/management company also from central FL), was the culmination of the first 3 or so years of songwriting (predominantly songs created between the core of the band, Brad Thiboult and Shane Bryant).

The second release, 2008's "Symptom EP" is slated for release on Halloween (Oct 31 2008). This disc is a collection of material that represents the past and future of Ring of Scars. 3 Never-released songs in demo form, and 3 remixes of songs from the original cd. The EP track layout follows the Fibonacci sequence, and the "in-between" tracks are a collage of edits using sound files from the bands other musical projects (demos, live recordings, samples).

Ring of Scars has gone from a sound that would have been considered Nu-metal in the early days to a now more refined "True Metal" sound. Having added a second guitarist the band now seems to focus on better songwriting, a more heavy dual guitar approach, and at times up to a 4 part harmony on vocals.

The band started becoming known for an unmatched live performance in smaller venues in FL, and has now become popular for building a rapid fan base online which seems to have started in Jacksonville FL. Out of nowhere, the band found a hardcore following and has begun gorilla type strategies with fans sending one-by-one emails to earn new fans - and it has worked. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Btbolt (talkcontribs) 01:56, 20 October 2008

Hi, and welcome to Wikipedia. The notability guideline to look at here is WP:MUSIC. Lacking clear indication (like a charting single, for instance), the basic rule of thumb requires widespread reliable, independent sources to verify that the band is being talked about. Reliable sources would be such things as newspaper articles or reputable industry websites. It would not include such as fan blogs, as these are not reliable by Wikipedia's definition, or any release by the band or its label, as these are not independent.
The Phi Symbol

[edit]
The Phi symbol, in the Greek alphabet, is an I and an O.

The symbol has been slightly modified for use within Ring Of Scars, and has become the all encompassing visual representation for all things RING OF SCARS - Past, Present, and Future. The symbol in math refers to the Fibonacci sequence or, what is known as the "Golden Ratio". In modern times it has come to represent the digital language, the numbers of the binary code, 0 and 1.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Btbolt (talkcontribs) 01:56, 20 October 2008

For this one, we already have an article. See Phi (letter). If the band above meets notability guidelines, it might be appropriate to mention this within that article, though it would probably not be appropriate to mention it in the article of the letter itself. If the symbol can be documented through reliable sources to have become broadly associated with this band, it may be appropriate to mention the band at the disambiguation page, Phi. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:41, 21 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I'm not sure if you're positing this as an article about a real person with a fictional history or about a fictional character. If the former, the governing guideline is WP:BIO. If the latter, we use the general notability guideline, although there is some additional information that may be of use at Wikipedia:Notability (fiction). Either way, you're going to need to assemble reliable, independent sources to verify that the subject meets the relevant guideline. These sources can't come from the subject or any entity that has an interest in promoting him/it—for example, press releases or official websites. These can be used to add detail to articles, but not to verify notability. It will be necessary to differentiate between the real-world aspects of the subject and the fictional ones. An article such as the above would probably be immediately deleted as a blatant hoax.
If you are able to assemble necessary sources and if your subject meets the notability requirements, you may choose to create the article yourself, although if you are closely associated with the subject, our conflict of interest guideline urges great caution, particularly with neutrality and not adding information you know to be true but cannot verify. Kryon Source

[edit]

Who is Kryon Source?

Kryon Source Source is a consciousness that pervades all universes. Kryon Source is rather like a committee that has the ultimate understanding of what happens on Planet Earth, and of what goes on everywhere else. He is everything within this solar system. However, not only in this solar system, but also galaxies beyond.

Kryon Source is everything that is, and everything that is not. Kryon Source is God in a state of detachment from Mother Earth. Kryon Source is detached from Mother Earth in order to see and to understand clearly what is happening here.

Planet Earth has been through a special experience is the last few thousand years: - the separation from God. Kryon Source is here to take you on the journey home, and to connect you with your inner divinity, for you are all magical beings of this universe, magnificent beyond your comprehension.

In prior channeling, a step-by-step way for emotional clearing has been explained. Being emotionally unbalanced is like driving a car with a dirty windscreen, or sailing a ship whose anchor still holds fast at the bottom of the sea. Until you achieve emotional clarity, your lives are going nowhere.

The Kryon Source energy comes to you in love and honesty, and brings specialist information and knowledge from all corners of the universe to assist you in the ascension process. There is not one entity or specialist group of knowledge and understanding that cannot be contacted through Kryon Source. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dhananjaykhare (talkcontribs) 08:42, 20 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, and welcome to Wikipedia. I presume that this may be connected to Lee Carroll? If so, a separate article on Kryon has been previously deleted following an "articles for deletion" debate, here. At that time, it was found that the existing article constituted "original research" and lacked reliable sourcing to verify information. A new article on the subject will need to remedy that. It would also need to be written neutrally, and all "opinion" statements would need to be attributable. It would be fine, for instance, to say, "The Kryon Source, according to Whatever This Faith Is Called, is a consciousness that pervades all universes." We can't say "Kryon Source is a consciousness that pervades all universes" ourselves, because we can't verify that. (See, for example, Shiva.) As an encyclopedia, Wikipedia does not proselytize, and we need to be careful that our articles are written from an objective perspective. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:12, 21 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, and welcome to Wikipedia. The first and most serious problem with the above (which I've removed) is that the site you've duplicated carries a prominent copyright notice. Material cannot be copied to Wikipedia from any other source unless it is public domain, licensed compatibly with GFDL or unless we receive explicit permission from the copyright holder through one of the processes set out at WP:Permission. Because we do not require identity verification at account creation, we need this external permission even if the material is placed by the copyright holder him or herself. Because we cannot legally display the text without that on any space in Wikipedia, I've removed it from this page.
Even with permission verified, though, the text which was above (and can be found at the link, obviously) is inappropriate for Wikipedia because it is promotional. This is completely understandable at the company's website; after all, promotion is part of their purpose. :) Here, it would be regarded as advertisement and probably quickly deleted under criterion WP:CSD#G11. Articles here should be factual descriptions of their subjects and should not include text like, "Creating a new account is easy, safe and free. Why not register today?"
Those two concerns can be easily overcome by rewriting the material in your own, neutral language. But before doing so, you should probably look over WP:WEB, our guideline for inclusion for web-related materials. If the subject does not meet that guideline, it may also be quickly deleted, under speedy deletion criterion WP:CSD#A7. In order to avoid that, you need to be able to indicate in the article what makes this game of encyclopedic significance (which is different from popularity, although sometimes there is certainly overlap). You can best secure the article from deletion by providing reliable sources to verify that the game has received widespread coverage independent of it and its creators. Reliable industry websites and publications or general newspapers may be best for this. Blogs are seldom usable for this purpose (you can read more about when they are at the linked policies above). --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:25, 21 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I see that you went on from here to create an article on the forum and that it has already been speedily deleted for notability concerns. Articles on certain topics—including individual people, companies, groups, bands & web content—must indicate in the article what makes their subject of encyclopedic significance. Without this indication, these articles may be deleted at any time. Even with this indication, though, the articles may be deleted by other processes if they do not include reliable sources to verify that their subjects meet the relevant notability guidelines, in this case WP:WEB. Judging by your reference to a competition, it seems that you may have placed the article as part of some sort of promotional scheme, which can be a problem as it may create a conflict of interest between Wikipedia's goal of producing a neutral compendium of information on notable subjects. Looking at the deleted text, I suspect that if it had not been deleted for notability concerns, it would have been deleted as advertisement. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:31, 21 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Maddow's Law

[edit]

Maddow's Law is a corollary of Godwin's Law, as proposed by Rachel Maddow on "The Rachel Maddow Show" on 10/20/2008

The Law states that:

"The longer it's clear that liberals or democrats are winning an argument or an election, the more likely it becomes that they will be called a socialist or communist."

It is in reference to the U.S. Presidential Candidate, Barack Obama, being accused of having socialist ideas in his tax plan.

Hi. Depending on consensus of contributors there, this may be notable for reference at The Rachel Maddow Show, but it's unlikely at this point to warrant a stand-alone article. See Wikipedia:Avoid neologisms. As that guideline notes it might be appropriate if there are sufficient widespread reliable sources to substantiate an encyclopedia article about it (and also to verify that the term is widely used), but given that the term was apparently coined a couple of days ago, it seems doubtful that such widespread sourcing currently exists. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:05, 22 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. From what you write here, that sounds like it might be a good definition to log at Wiktionary (but be sure it's all in your own words; I'm not sure from the above if it is). If all the article would consist of is a definition, though, it's probably not appropriate here. We have a policy page, Wikipedia:Wikipedia is not a dictionary, which includes some pointers on how to distinguish between an encyclopedia article and a dictionary reference. If you choose to try to develop an encyclopedia article on the topic, you may find it useful to read over that to see how to develop such an article here. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:09, 22 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Articles here should be factual descriptions of their subjects and should not include text like, "We invite you to join us in giving opportunites to the poor."
Those two concerns can be easily overcome by rewriting the material in your own, neutral language. But before doing so, you should probably look over WP:ORG, our guideline for inclusion for for-profit and non-profit organizations. If the subject does not meet that guideline, it may also be quickly deleted, under speedy deletion criterion WP:CSD#A7. In order to avoid that, you need to be able to indicate in the article what makes this organization of encyclopedic significance, that is what makes it important. For example, has had it extensive media coverage? Has it been highly successful in its mission? Is it well-regarded among similar organizations? These kinds of details can help assert that the subject meets our guidelines, though it can be a challenge to show importance without crossing the line into promotion. It helps to attribute such claims to uninvolved sources. You can best secure the article from deletion by providing reliable sources to verify that the organization has received widespread coverage independent of it and its creators. Reliable industry websites and publications or general newspapers and magazines may be best for this. Blogs are seldom usable for this purpose (you can read more about when they are at the linked policies above). Official websites can be used to add detail, but cannot be used to substantiate notability.
If you are able to assemble necessary sources to assert notability, you may certainly create such an article, although if you are closely associated with the subject, as your username suggests, our conflict of interest guideline strongly recommends that you do not create or edit the article yourself, but instead consider proposing its creation at requested articles or at a related article or relevant WikiProject. If you do choose to write the article in such a case, you'll want to be particularly careful to approach it neutrally and without undue promotion. In fact, you should probably first begin by changing your username, as names that are connected to real world companies are problematic with respect to our username policy. If an account with this username creates an article on the subject, it may wind up being blocked as promotional. You can read about changing your username here.

I am not familiar with the Great Indian Laughter Challenge, but if it's a notable contest, that should help find press coverage of the man. It seems as though it may be; we have an article on the show, here, that suggests it is, but as that article is unsourced I can't tell. :) My observation at deletion debates suggests that reality show contestants, even highly placed ones, are not necessarily inherently notable, but coverage in media may make that clear.

Rosaline (band)

[edit]

Rosaline is an American post hardcore/indie band from Chicago Illinois.

Rosaline was formed in 2004 by Madison Stolzer (ex Emarosa) as guitarist, screamer, and song writer. Between 2004 and 2006 Rosaline gained fans across Illinois and the surrounding states by independently releasing their debut release "We're all Just Passing Through". In early 2007 Rosaline signed to independent label Standby Records and began working on a follow-up EP entitled "A Constant North". After completing half of the tracks Rosaline went on an indefinite hiatus due to unknown reasons.

In early October 2008 the band announced via their myspace that the "revival of Rosaline" was imminent. Rosaline has announced they will begin playing shows again before 2009, and has plans for a new release. Whether the release will be "A Constant North" is unknown. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Natesteinheimer (talkcontribs) 03:28, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, and Welcome to Wikipedia! :) In order to create an article about that band, you'll need to be able to assert notability per Wikipedia's notability guidelines on musicians and music groups, which will mean utilizing reliable secondary sources, like newspaper articles. An article of this sort would also be covered by Wikipedia's guidelines on "biographies of living persons", which in part urges editors to be extremely careful not to include any information that isn't sourced, even if it's true, and also reminds us that biographies particularly must be written from a neutral point of view.
There are generally some specific elements Wikipedia's editors look for in bands in helping determine if they meet our inclusion guidelines. From what you say here, it doesn't sound as though Rosaline would necessarily meet those specific criteria, and they might have to verify notability instead through the general rule of documenting widespread coverage in reliable sources that are not connected in any way to the band. For this, you'd generally look for things like newspaper or magazine articles or coverage at reliable industry websites, like Rolling Stone (as one example).
If you are able to assemble necessary sources and if your subject meets the notability requirements, you may choose to create the article yourself, although if you are closely associated with the subject, our conflict of interest guideline urges great caution, particularly with neutrality and not adding information you know to be true but cannot verify. Removed text: duplicates [9], Conóceme section [1]Jqmedia (talk) 09:09, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, and welcome to Wikipedia. The first and most serious problem with the above (which I've removed) is that the material is already published here, and it bears a copyright notice. Material cannot be duplicated to Wikipedia from any other source unless it is public domain, licensed compatibly with GFDL or unless we receive explicit permission from the copyright holder through one of the processes set out at WP:Permission. Because we do not require identity verification at account creation, we need this external permission even if the material is placed by the copyright holder him or herself. Because we cannot legally display the text without that on any space in Wikipedia, I've removed it from this page. If you choose to create an article on this duo, you'll need to either verify permission or rewrite the text in entirely new words. (You would have to rewrite some of it anyway, as some sections do not meet our neutrality policy. We may quote newspapers or magazines, for instance, that say things like "The chemistry was obviously perfect between the two", but we don't use such text in articles ourselves.)
Aside from the copyright issue and some promotional language, the material I've removed does indicate the encyclopedic significance of the subject, but it does not contain the kinds of sourcing that we look for. WP:MUSIC is our notability guideline for musicians and bands. It's important to include reliable sources to verify how the duo meets that guideline. These sources can't be connected to the band or any entity that has an interest in promoting them (such as commercial sites, like CD Baby). Information can be added from official band publications, but notability has to be verified through unconnected sources.
If you are closely associated with the subject, our conflict of interest guideline urges great caution, particularly with neutrality and not adding information you know to be true but cannot verify. It is strongly recommended that you do not edit an article on a subject with which you have a conflict of interest but instead consider proposing its creation at requested articles or at a related article or relevant WikiProject.
Let me also point out that your username may become a problem. Wikipedia does not recommend using the name of an actual company, such as JQ Media, as your username in part because it may lend to an impression that you are attempting to promote the company or its products on the encyclopedia. As our username policy explains, it can lead to your account be blocked. You may wish to consider changing your username. (It can also be a problem if the account is meant to be used by more than one person, as shared accounts are against policy.)
If you do choose to write an article, Help:Starting a new page should give you all the guidance you need, but you might also look at Wikipedia:Your first article and Wikipedia:How to write a great article. Hi, and Welcome to Wikipedia! :) In order to create an article about that person, you'll need to be able to assert notability per Wikipedia's notability guidelines on biographies, which will mean utilizing reliable secondary sources, like newspaper articles. An article of this sort would be covered by Wikipedia's guidelines on "biographies of living persons", which in part urges editors to be extremely careful not to include any information that isn't sourced, even if it's true, and also reminds us that biographies particularly must be written from a neutral point of view. It's okay to refer to hm as "one of the most powerful youth activists in the country" if you have an external source that has said so and you note who and where that was. Otherwise, we would describe him more neutrally as "a youth activist", without passing any particular judgment on his power.
If you are able to assemble necessary sources and if your subject meets the notability requirements, you may choose to create the article yourself, although if you are closely associated with the subject, our conflict of interest guideline urges great caution, particularly with neutrality and not adding information you know to be true but cannot verify. It is strongly recommended that you do not edit an article on a subject with which you have a conflict of interest but instead consider proposing its creation at requested articles or at a related article or relevant WikiProject.
If you choose to create it yourself, once you have registered, please search Wikipedia first to make sure that an article does not already exist on the subject. Help:Starting a new page should give you all the guidance you need, but you might also look at Wikipedia:Your first article and Wikipedia:How to write a great article. Please consider taking a tour through the Wikipedia:Tutorial so that you know how to properly format the article before creation. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 20:51, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Mina. Welcome to Wikipedia. :) If the company has been around for 80 years and has a huge audience, it shouldn't be impossible to verify its notability under the organization guidelines. Unfortunately, the sources you list wouldn't help with that, because none of them are independent of the company. They may be able to add details to the article, but to verify notability, you need reliable sources that are not "primary", or connected to the subject. What you've listed about is the company's website and three press releases. I get 311 hits in "google news" for Leon Levin (not all of these are related to the clothing line). Perhaps among them there will be the kind of things we usually look for. Best option would be a few extensive profiles of the company written by a major newspaper. :) In the absence of that, smaller references will help as long they can help clarify that the company has received widespread coverage in reliable, independent sources. Trivial references won't help here. (I'm trying to think of what might constitute a trivial reference in this case, but I'm not coming up with one. Perhaps a listing of the name among a lengthy catalog of clothing manufacturers displayed at a department store sale?)
If you are closely associated with the subject, our conflict of interest guideline strongly recommends that you do not create or edit the article yourself, but instead consider proposing its creation at requested articles or at a related article or relevant WikiProject. If you do choose to write the article in such a case, you'll want to be particularly careful to approach it neutrally and without undue promotion. All editors, of course, are supposed to write neutrally and without undue promotion. But we've come up with the guideline because we find this to be a particular challenge for people who are closely connected to their subjects. :)
Before establishing the article, please search Wikipedia to make sure that an article does not already exist on the subject. (It doesn't now, but in the Wikipedia world that could change in a minute.) Help:Starting a new page should give you all the guidance you need, but you might also look at Wikipedia:Your first article and Wikipedia:How to write a great article. Hi, and Welcome to Wikipedia! :) The first question to answer in any biographical article (or article about a company or band) is whether or not it indicates that something makes this person (company, band) important or significant. There's nothing in the fragment above that seems to do that. Has he worked with notable musicians? Notable television properties? The article should say. Without that, it may be deleted swiftly under WP:CSD#A7, which is the procedure that is used for such articles that don't suggest that their subjects may be out of the ordinary. Some administrators would likely regarded his stated profession as enough, but many would probably not.
Even if you answer that question, in order to sustain an article about that person, you'll need to go a bit further and assert encyclopedic notability per Wikipedia's notability guidelines on biographies, which will mean utilizing reliable secondary sources, like newspaper articles. Information from the person's webspace or from any companies with which he may be associated can be used to add details to an article, but not to verify notability. "Independent" sources must be used for that. An article of this sort would be covered by Wikipedia's guidelines on "biographies of living persons", which in part urges editors to be extremely careful not to include any information that isn't sourced, even if it's true, and also reminds us that biographies particularly must be written from a neutral point of view.
If you are able to assemble necessary sources and if your subject meets the notability requirements, you may choose to create the article yourself, although if you are closely associated with the subject, our conflict of interest guideline urges great caution, particularly with neutrality and not adding information you know to be true but cannot verify. (You might also wish to read WP:Autobiography, if you are the individual.) It is strongly recommended that you do not edit an article on a subject with which you have a conflict of interest but instead consider proposing its creation at requested articles or at a related article or relevant WikiProject.

About Kullman Buildings Corp.

[edit]

Kullman Buildings Corp. is the leading worldwide offsite builder of permanent steel and concrete multi-story buildings and Kullman Bathroom Pods™.

Since it’s founding over 80 years ago, Kullman has grown to become one of the most innovative offsite construction firms in the world. Kullman constructs buildings that are superior in quality, style, and flexibility for a broad range of markets including education, healthcare, telecommunications, hospitality, government and others.

Since its purchase in 2006 by Avi Telyas, the company has accelerated its construction methodology through the implementation of Toyota’s Lean Manufacturing techniques and Lean Construction project delivery systems in its 180,000-square-foot factory in Lebanon, N.J. Kullman’s offsite construction methodology reduces overall project schedules by up to 50 percent over conventional construction methods, and virtually eliminates long-term site disruption.

Kullman’s techniques are a mix of modern technology, including 3D and 4D design modeling, computerized project control systems combined with a Lean project management delivery system, with old-world craftsmanship taking place in a climate controlled facility that is never affected by inclement weather. This combination generates proven, long-lasting results, on time and on budget.

Kullman works as a strategic partner with top architects and construction management firms offering design-build services that deliver architecturally robust buildings satisfying the most discerning clients. Unlike other companies in the industry, Kullman sets every building and completes all mateline work.

Bridging the gap between offsite construction and the manufacturing industry, in 2008 Kullman expanded its list of offsite construction services with the launch of GRP Bathroom Pods — fully functioning bathrooms encapsulated in a outer shell constructed of glass reinforced and connected to a steel based frame. Completed Bathroom Pods are delivered to the project site, hoisted and set in place. Available in a variety of designs and styles, Bathroom Pods are regularly manufactured for multi-story living spaces, hospitals, and hotels.

For Kullman, its continued success and growing demand as a premier construction provider is reflected in a dramatic 166 percent growth in company revenue since 2006, and total projected 270 percent growth in revenue by 2008.

Kullman employs more than 190 professionals who perform many of the usually subcontracted trades in-house, including: customary cabinetry, shielded MRI rooms, full brick facades, blast resistant walls, and other building components. The company’s executives and project managers bring over 200 years of offsite construction experience to projects and jobsites. For more information on Kullman, call (908) 236-0220 or visit www.kullman.com. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kullman Buildings Corp (talkcontribs) 18:23, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and Welcome to Wikipedia. There are a couple of issues with this that seem worth discussing. First, your username suggests that you are probably affiliated with the company. Our username policy strongly advises against using a company name, and when this company name is used to edit articles about said company, there is a real chance that you will be perceived as having a conflict of interest which could lead to your account being blocked from editing. You may want to consider changing your username to avoid this problem. Also, please note that if any username is being used by more than one individual, the account may be blocked, as shared accounts are not permitted.
Even after you have changed your username, you should carefully consider the advisability of your contributing an article on this company. Our conflict of interest guideline strongly recommends that you do not create or edit the article yourself, but instead consider proposing its creation at requested articles or at a related article or relevant WikiProject. You can read more about this at our business FAQ. If you do choose to write the article in such a case, you'll want to be particularly careful to approach it neutrally and without undue promotion. Even if the article is not considered "advertisement" to the point of being immediately deleted as promotion, it might be tagged with a prominent notice warning our readers that a contributor to or creator of it has a conflict of interest, which might put the company in a negative light to those who read about it here. I'm sure all this sounds dire, and I'm really not trying to dissuade you from contributing to Wikipedia or even this article altogether, but I do hope to warn you some of the common pitfalls these types of articles face.
All that out of the way, this particular article would be governed by the notability guidelines on companies. The rule of thumb here is noting whether the company has received significant or widespread coverage in secondary sources that are reliable and independent of the company (excluding company PR releases and information solely available on the company website—these sources may be used for additional information after notability has been established by secondary sources). All material must be attributable. The text itself makes it sound as though the company is probably notable, but you would need to assemble sources to verify that.
If you do choose to create the article, please search Wikipedia to make sure that an article does not already exist on the subject. Help:Starting a new page should give you all the guidance you need, but you might also look at Wikipedia:Your first article and Wikipedia:How to write a great article. Please consider taking a tour through the Wikipedia:Tutorial so that you know how to properly format the article before creation. You might want to consider first writing a draft of the article, with appropriate sourcing, in your userspace (See this for more) and requesting feedback on it before moving it to article space at the conflict of interest noticeboard. It wouldn't, however, be appropriate to host this on your "user page", as our userpage guidelines disallow "Advertising or promotion of a business or organization unrelated to Wikipedia." --Moonriddengirl (talk) 21:27, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and Welcome to Wikipedia! The first thing you'd need to do is indicate somewhere in the article what makes this website important or significant from an encyclopedic standpoint. Why might it be covered in a reference book? We have some notability guidelines on web-hosted material that can help you here. While there are a few specific possibilities (awards, etc.), the basic rule of thumb here is noting whether the website has received significant or widespread coverage in secondary sources that are reliable and independent of the site (excluding PR releases and information solely available on the website—these sources may be used for additional information after notability has been established by secondary sources). All material must be attributable. Lacking that indication of importance, the article is likely to be swiftly removed under criterion A7 of the speedy deletion process.
Before establishing the article, please search Wikipedia to make sure that an article does not already exist on the subject, possibly under an alternative name. Help:Starting a new page should give you all the guidance you need, but you might also look at Wikipedia:Your first article and Wikipedia:How to write a great article. Hi, and welcome to Wikipedia.
Let me also point out that your username is likely to be a problem. Wikipedia does not recommend using the name of an actual company as your username in part because it may lend to an impression that you are attempting to promote the company or its products on the encyclopedia. As our username policy explains, it can lead to your account be blocked. You may wish to consider changing your username. (It can also be a problem if the account is meant to be used by more than one person, as shared accounts are against policy.)
Given your username, I should also point out that if you are closely associated with the subject, our conflict of interest guideline urges great caution, particularly with neutrality and not adding information you know to be true but cannot verify. It is strongly recommended that you do not edit an article on a subject with which you have a conflict of interest but instead consider proposing its creation at requested articles or at a related article or relevant WikiProject.
That said, an article with only that text would undoubtedly be swiftly deleted for insufficient information. To establish an article on a company, you would include substantial content. Wikipedia:Your first article and Wikipedia:How to write a great article might give you some ideas. One thing you would definitely want to include is some indication of why this record company is significant from an encyclopedic standpoint. Why would it be covered in a reference book? We have a notability guideline for businesses, here. There is also some guidance at our notability guideline for music-related topics, which indicates that indie labels are likely to be notable if they have "a history of more than a few years and a roster of performers, many of which are notable." You will need reliable sources that are not connected to the label to verify its notability.
Good luck, and happy editing. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 11:06, 25 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Page Idea: Jewish Cemetery in Khotyn

Introduction

[edit]

This page describes the Jewish cemetary located in Khotyn, Ukraine.

Background Information

[edit]

The city of Khotyn is located in the Chernivtsi oblast of Ukraine. According to the Encyclopedia of Ukraine, during the late 19th and early 20th

centuries, the town was almost entirely Jewish or Russian. This created a uniformity of culture that endured throughout the different occupations of Khotyn

(Bessarabia in the late 1800's, Austria during the 1910's, the Soviet Army in June 1940, Romania in 1941, and the USSR in 1944). The town in 1930 was

composed of 38% Jews, and roughly the same percentage of Russians and Ukrainians. However, after the 2nd World War, the Jewish percentage of the population

fell to 8%.[2] The current Jewish

population of Khotyn is small; residents estimate the community at 10 people, and the US Commission for the Preservation of America's Heritage Abroad

estimates the population at 11-100.[3]

The Cemetary

[edit]

The US Government organisation "Commission for the Preservation of America's Heritage Abroad," cited above, provides an excellent reference for the Jewish

cemeteries of Ukraine. The International Jewish Cemetery Project cites this source for its information.[4] The document includes the following information about Khotyn:

KHOTIN: US Commission No. UA25060101

The last known Hasidic burial was 1990. No other towns or villages used this unlandmarked cemetery. The isolated suburban flat land has no sign or marker.

Reached by turning directly off a public road, access is open to all. A broken masonry wall with no gate surrounds site. 501 to 5000 stones, most in original

location with less than 25% of surviving stones toppled or broken, date from 19th to 20th century. Location of any removed tombstones is unknown. Some

tombstones have traces of painting on their surfaces, portraits on stones, and/or metal fences around graves. The cemetery contains no known mass graves. The

municipality owns the site used for Jewish cemetery only. Adjacent properties are agricultural. The cemetery boundaries are unchanged since 1939. Rarely,

Jews or non-Jews visit. The cemetery was not vandalized in the last ten years. Local/municipal authorities cleared vegetation. Now, occasionally, individuals

clean or clear. Within the limits of the cemetery are no structures. Vegetation overgrowth is a constant problem, disturbing graves. Water drainage at the

cemetery is a seasonal problem. Serious threat: vegetation. Moderate threat: uncontrolled access, weather erosion and pollution. Slight threat: vandalism,

and existing nearby development and proposed nearby development.

The cemetery can be reached easily by taxi from the Bus Station. The report suggests that the cemetery contains no mass graves; in fact, the location

includes a monument to those Jewish citizens killed in the 1941 occupation.

Well, this one's a bit of a puzzle for me. I'm not familiar with cemeteries in terms of their encyclopedic notability, so it's difficult for me to give an opinion on whether or not this one verifies that it meets notability guidelines for inclusion. It certainly wouldn't hurt to include a few more references to the cemetery, since it's hard to tell if that "further research" (we'd generally call that "Further reading"--see WP:LAYOUT, and also note that only the first word is capitalized in the subheader unless it is an official title) is specifically related to this cemetery or not.
Notability aside, the best suggestions that I can offer you are related to style. We do not use an "introduction," but a lead section, which should briefly explain what the subject is about and why it is important. (Follow the link under "lead section" for more formatting information.) You should not double space as you have done; among other things, this would cause problems for viewers whose browsers are set to display differently than yours. Run the text together, and it will wrap according to individual need. You might also want to look at Wikipedia:Your first article and Wikipedia:How to write a great article. Please consider taking a tour through the Wikipedia:Tutorial, which might help you with other issues related to formatting the article before creation. Mirror Foundation

[edit]
Extended content

Mirror Foundation (formerly known as Mirror Art Group) is an NGO (non-goverment organization) based in northern Thailand in the Chiang Rai provinces' sub-district of Mae Yao. The organization's aim is to help the hilltribe people around the area with issues such as citizenship, drug abuse, erosion of culture and the trafficking of women and children through several projects.

The Foundation has successfully promoted the rights of the hilltribes and through its bannok.com website, it has recruited local volunteers to help out at the hilltribe villages. The website has also been successful in soliciting donations in support of the foundation's programs.

On-going Projects

[edit]

Thai Citizenship Project

[edit]

The foundation mediates the process of applying for Thai Citizenship between the hilltribe people and the government. [1] [2]

Back to Home Project

[edit]

attempts to locate and re-unite missing persons with their loved ones. Most of the missing persons are victims of human traficking. [3]

Project to Combat Trafficking in Women and Children

[edit]

This project helps raise awareness in both the hilltribe women and children and also the public. One of the on-going campaigns is raising the public's awareness that giving money to child beggers actually fuels crime as most of the child begger operations are conducted by people who exploit the children for their own gains. [4] [5]

www.ebannok.com website

[edit]

This is the website where the hilltribes around the area could sell their arts and crafts online. [6]

ICT Project

[edit]

teaches computing skills to local hilltribes around the Chiang Rai region and also to the people affected by the tsunami in late 2004. [7]

The Hilltribe Life and Cultural Centre at Ban Jalae and Virtual Hilltribe Museum at www.hilltribe.org

[edit]

Both the physical and virtual museum serve as vessels to preserve the culture of the hilltribes for future generations. [8] [9]

Past Projects

[edit]

Tsunami Volunteer Centre (TVC)

[edit]

This centre was set up in 2005 in collaboration with the Thai Health Promotion Foundation in Phang Nga to help with the relief and rebuilding efforts in support of the people and area affected by the Tsunami in late 2004. [10] [11]

Scooterguy (talk) 09:54, 21 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Scooterguy, and welcome to Wikipedia. :) First let me note that I'm getting a "page load" error at http://www.mirrorartgroup.org/ and http://www.p2pfoundation.net/NGOs_in_Thailand is giving me nothing at all. The only page I can view is http://www.humantrafficking.org/organizations/243.
I'd have to say in response to your hidden question, "Is this ok for a first submission?", that it depends. Some article types on Wikipedia must indicate why they are important from first submission to avoid deletion. Articles about people and groups of people (including organizations) are among these. You can read more about that at WP:CSD#A7. This is not supposed to be applied to controversial topics, and there are some people who would probably regard an NGO as inapplicable. There are others who would not. If it were my article, I would add more to be sure that it escapes speedy deletion as well as to minimize the risk that it will be deleted by other processes. (Those can be read about at our "deletion policy".
Organizations, whether profit or otherwise, are judged for inclusion by our notability guideline on organizations. You'll probably want to read over that, but the basic rule of thumb there is that an organization is considered "notable" for inclusion if it has been covered by independent reliable sources. (There's more about sourcing at our verifiability policy.) "Primary sources"—such as press releases or sources from sister organizations—can't be used to verify notability. The best sources for this are usually newspaper or magazine articles or respected industry publications. I tend to be rather conservative myself, and I usually aim for 4 or 5 good sources on new articles. Sometimes, if a source is stellar, I'll run with less. In this case, I'd be looking for newspaper articles talking about the organization's work. I see some potentially useful articles here, but I can't get at most of them because they are subscription only. There's even more material here. As an article writer, I'd be very pleased to find a few book references, here, and I am especially excited about this one, as it seems to perfectly fit the bill, and it contains an assertion of significance right there, as it says that the website of the group is "one of the country's most popular Web sites".(Rahman, Hakikur (2006). Empowering Marginal Communities with Information Networking. Idea Group Inc. p. 138. ISBN 1591406994.) It also provides some overview information from an unconnected source, focusing particularly on it as an example of good use of internet technology to support indigenous people. Good stuff!
Back to your hidden question. :) It might be ok, or it might be deleted speedily by an administrator who doesn't think it should be excluded from A7. If it's not, it might be brought up for deletion debate. I think it would survive, but it would almost certainly survive (and even escape the threat of extinction) with a few more sources. My quick search suggests to me that it should be no problem to add reliable sources from the above and probably through a more general google search.
Please let me know here or at my own user talk if you'd like more feedback specifically from me. You may get it more quickly from my own user talk, as I generally check in here only ever several days. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:51, 21 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much Moonriddengirl for your comments and your help with the references. They have really helped. I have edited the article and added projects by the foundation which I could find external references to. I did not include those which do not have references for the sake of neutrality. Could you please have a look and see if the content and formatting is ok? Thanks in advance.

117.47.230.180 (talk) 03:37, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oops ... I forgot to login when I edited the article. Just logged in and added the signature to show that its actually me.

Scooterguy (talk) 03:41, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's in the right direction. It will be easier to work on formatting issues in article space or userspace. But I would strongly suggest that you get the assertion of significance right up there in front, with an inline citation. To that end, I would go with this:
...through its bannok.com website, it has recruited local volunteers and donations to help out at the hilltribe villages. The organization and its website, which is among "the most popular" in Thailand according to the 2006 book Empowering Marginal Communities with Information Networking, are cited as an example of the effective use of the Internet to "facilitate indigenous peoples' access to the political arena and...raise awareness about indigenous peoples' issues at the national level."[12]
Why don't we move this to "sandbox" space? (You can make your own personal subpage here on which to work on articles.) If you follow this redlink (User:Scooterguy/sandbox), you can paste your article there so that we can more easily develop it. When it is ready, which should be pretty quickly, I would think, it can be moved into article space. It will be easier to discuss development there, and I can implement changes directly into the article. :) If that sounds like a good idea to you, just let me know at my talk page when you've done so, and I'll head over to see if I can help. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 12:10, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Northgate, Sacramento, California

[edit]

Northgate is a neighborhood in Sacramento, California. It is located north of the American River bordered by Northgate Boulevard and Gardenland to the east, San Juan Road to the north, Garden Highway to the south and Northgate Park and South Natomas to the west. Developed in the 1950's on tomato and corn fields, it grew to become a prosperous community. In the early 1970's Bridgeford Drive and the Larchmont homes west of Rio Tierra Junior High School were built, adding on to the population and again another growth in 1980 with the further addition of the new homes on the corn field creating Sotano Drive.

Back in the 1970's Northgate had a high hispanic population resulting in many lowrider cars to the area. On any given Summer day they would ride up and down Northgate Boulevard displaying their custom made vehicles.

Three schools are located in Northgate: Alethea B. Smythe and Hazel Strauch Elementary K-6, and Rio Tierra Junior High School grades 7-9. These schools provide services to residents of both Gardenland and Northgate, while Rio Tierra also serves children living in nearby neighborhoods of Robla and Dos Rios.

Notable Natives from Northgate:

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Useful here might be Wikipedia:Places of local interest. This is a contributor created essay that offers some valuable tips on creating articles about places, including neighborhoods. The core question, as the essay points out, concerns what kind of reliable sources exist to verify that the neighborhood is notable. Best sources might include things like newspaper or magazine profiles. Sources connected to the neighborhood, like homeowner's association websites, may not be useful for this, although they can be used to add details to articles.

Mr.Milticket-Mack2Millions Records

[edit]

Born Brian K.Lee August 24,1976 in Sacramento,California to Willie Lee II and Ruthie Lee. He has two brothers Jason Lee and Maurice Lee and a sister Brandi Lee. He moved to Reno,Nevada when he was 5 years old. In Reno,Nevada he had his Grandfather,Grandmother,Aunts,and Uncles. He went to Glenn Duncan Elementary School this is where all of his talents came to life. His first talent was first recognized by Reno Gazzette Journal as he played Martin Luther King in a school play,but that wouldn't be the last article on him. He also was photographed playing Tetherball and doing back flips in Trainer Middle School.

Trainer Middle School is where Brian developed the skills of rappin and dancing. He and friends would do this thing they called "rap cap" which is described as playing the dozens. That's when he started getting his recognition as a good rapper. Being brought up in the ghetto of Reno in the late 1980's Brian started to rap about what was taking place around him,drug dealing,prostitution,sex,money and murder. This is when he made his official first demo in his bedroom on two boomboxes,one playing the music and the other one recording over One Way "Cutie Pie". After letting people listen to his demo he was always asked to rap at house parties,school dances,and talent contest.

By the time he was a freshman in high school in 1990 he was known as one of the best rappers in Reno. In the ninth grade Brian found religion and was baptised at First Baptist Church Of Blacksprings Nevada. This is where his second talent of acting was re-introduced in a gospel play called "Make Up Your Mind". He traveled with the church to many different cities and was one of the highlights of the show. Never letting go of his first love "music" he went on to record songs with various friends. In Reno he was known for making the first banging on wax song with friends Leonard "Bang" Smith,Clifton "Toot" Neal,and longtime friend Bryce "Killa Clown" Johnson which he was out number 3 to 1 and he still held his own. After doing several demos it was time for him start getting serious about this gift. He hooked up with friends Clifford "Young Peezy" Porter and MacArthur "Mac Adou" Wrights. Young Peezy and Mac Adou would make the beats and sing back ground while Brian would drop the dope lyrics. After buying equipment,mastering beat making and rhyme writing became a fulltime job outside of school. They formed a group called "Explicit Game" which consisted of Brian,Young Peezy,Mac Adou,and some new artist named Shorty-T,and Killa YG,that's when Brian adopted the name "Mr.Milticket". They began doing local shows and hosting many parties around town.

When his senior year of high school rolled around he was all about music and decided to leave school to chase his dream of doing music. By this time he had opened up shows for bigger artist like Mississippi Pezo,Dru Down,Mob Figgas,Dj Quik,etc. People really started to see the talent within him and wanted to try to help him further his career. He was offered contracts by many different indie labels but never would sign. Instead he would do shows for them or record with there other artist. After being introduced to a man named Big Worm threw his brother Jason,Milticket was offered the chance to go meet a successful rap artist named "Too Short" and possibly work with him on some music in Atlanta,Georgia. Accepting the offer Milticket was flown to Atlanta to start his new mission of life. Going out to Atlanta was the real gift.Now living in Decatur Georgia this is where he was exposed to the FreakNik and also learned the other side of the music industry the contract,buying beats,recording cost,and just because you know somebody does not mean you are all in. Milticket would be in Georgia for 6 to 8 months out of the year, then would go back to Reno to visit.

After going back and fourth between Reno and Atlanta Big worm and Milticket decided to cut down recording cost and sent for Young Peezy who owned his own equipment. Thats when they began to shop the name Mr.Milticket all around Georgia. A couple of weeks went by and Peezy went back to Reno,so Milticket sent for his second secret weapon "Shorty-T". The two of them together would form a group called "Fortune and Fame" that created a strong buzz around Atlanta. This is when the buisness got bad,Big Worm wanted to sign Mr.Milticket to a 7 year deal. When Milticket refused to sign to Big Worm records he and Shorty-T was kicked out of Big Worms apartment. With no where to go they headed back to Reno to continue there journey. Now known as local celebrities Milticket,Shorty-T,and Young Peezy reunite dropping hit songs like "You Can Have My Bitch" "Haterz" and "Ridahs". Milticket goes on to do shows and opens his own record label called "Mack2Millions Records" in 2002. Continuing to further there careers they opens shows for artist like E-40, Richie Rich, Dollars and Spence,and Too Short in Portland Oregon.

When Milticket returned back to Reno he began to work on his solo project and produced "Ride For Mines". He knew he had to step up his game so he bought his own equipment and began recording his self. He created a buzz around the town with his new songs. Eventually Milticket would hook up with relatives and put together what he calls a hiphop classic called "Game On Consignment" in 2006 with hit songs like "Da Smash" "Small Time" and "Rep Ur Set" that was financed by his cousin Michael "Spike Da Mike". The first week out the album sold 300 cd's on the streets and 200 cd's in Tower Records. He then hooked up with local artist/concert promoter "Guitly One" he was able to open shows for artist like "Turf Talk" "Celly Cell" "Mistah Grim" and "Young Droop".

In 2009 Mr.Milticket will be dropping another album called "The New Epidemic" with hit songs like "Mack'N'Roll" "Bad Infleunz" and "Candy Bowl" that is expected to go gold for the first time. Milicket has paid all the dues,done all the research,and has studied the music industry to further the success of this upcoming album. He also has a Mixed Tape album called "Fully Injected Wit Game" featuring artist like "Yowder" "Shorty-T" "Red2Da-B" "Young Peezy" "Young Baca" and many more. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Milticket (talkcontribs) 09:34, 27 October 2008

Hi, and Welcome to Wikipedia! :) In order to create an article about that person, you'll need to be able to assert notability per Wikipedia's notability guidelines on musicians, which will mean utilizing reliable secondary sources, like newspaper articles. All information should be verifiable. An article of this sort would be covered by Wikipedia's guidelines on "biographies of living persons", which in part urges editors to be particularly careful not to include any information that isn't sourced, even if it's true, and also reminds us that biographies particularly must be written from a neutral point of view.
If you are able to assemble necessary sources and if your subject meets the notability requirements, you may choose to create the article yourself, although if you are closely associated with the subject, as your username suggests, our conflict of interest guideline urges great caution, particularly with neutrality and not adding information you know to be true but cannot verify. It is strongly recommended that you do not edit an article on a subject with which you have a conflict of interest but instead consider proposing its creation at requested articles or at a related article or relevant WikiProject. (You may also want to read over Wikipedia:Autobiography.)
If you do wish to create the article, you will either need to register an account, which has many benefits, including the ability to create articles, or post it at Wikipedia:Articles for creation, where other editors will review it to be sure it meets policies and, if so, create it for you.
If you choose to create it yourself, once you have registered, please search Wikipedia first to make sure that an article does not already exist on the subject (perhaps under a variant name). Help:Starting a new page should give you all the guidance you need, but you might also look at Wikipedia:Your first article and Wikipedia:How to write a great article. Please consider taking a tour through the Wikipedia:Tutorial so that you know how to properly format the article before creation. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 17:05, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Any interest in an article about a hostage take over in Beverly Hills, CA from over 20 years ago?

[edit]

Like the title says. I am former law enforcement, and no longer affiliated with either agency that was involved with this scenario.

Procedures, tactics and techniques were embryonic then, and mistakes were made. Three hostages died because of Lividitas, an unstable drifter with a fantastical robbery scheme. However the robbery when initiated, immediately turned into a hostage take-over scenario, when a salesperson tripped the silent alarm and a motor officer by chance, was immediately to the front of the store when Lividitas simultaneously discovered the police had been notified. The jewelry store was and is an impregnable fortress, and Lividitas immediately barricaded himself and his hostages. Three innocent participants died; one arguably by his own action-verbally provoking an unstable man, and two others due to mistakes attributable to both "target identification" and inappropriate negotiation and intelligence dissemination.

Enough time has passed that I feel this information should be made available for future public anaylsis, and involved parties do not now have to worry about negative civil action or reputation. Only the victim's names and the perpetrator's name will be used. Survivor's and law enforcement officers past and present will be given alias.

I have some supporting documents, but I had to return newspaper clippings and pictures, including crime scene and autopsy photographs back to my agency upon leaving.

This is not a flame article. The intent is to educate interested parties on the dynamics, pressure and intense nature of these situations, and how one metropolitan police department and a sheriff's agency reacted when it happened to them.

Here is an excerpt from the draft article I am composing:

...SEB officers initiated the assault with two KillGore flash-bang stun grenades. Two tremendous blasts occurred; the hostages and hostage taker Lividitas are completely stunned and scattered...One female hostage literally had a breast ripped from her torso by the intense force of the blast; these were early model and powerful stun grenades. Skinner sits up stunned from blast, his pockets forcibly stuffed with jewelry and watches, points at Livaditas...is incorrectly identified as the hostage taker...SEB Sniper X takes aim at Skinner dialing up to 9 power magnification on his Ziess rifle scope. He fires one shot from his Heckler and Koch G3SG1 sniper rifle, aiming center of mass-at a distance of less than 100 yards, including the elevation difference from his roof top hide position…

Well what do you think? Does this belong in Wikipedia?

```` —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wildweasil2000 (talkcontribs) 10:25, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, Wildweasil2000, and welcome to Wikipedia. :) It may belong; there are several factors to consider.
First and foremost is whether or not it meets our notability guideline. The basic rule of thumb there is whether the material has widespread coverage by reliable sources, like newspaper articles and magazines. (Even if you no longer have the newspaper clippings, as long as you have enough information to cite them, they'll count.) We have a general policy against including news stories at Wikipedia; if this were a breaking crime, it would go to Wikinews instead. Since it's not, what you need to think about is "historical significance." Is there something of lasting impact about this robbery gone bad? Did it continue as a subject of interest after the immediate uproar dies down? If so, and there are sources to support that, it probably belongs on Wikipedia. If it was only relevant at the time, it may not. That's not a question that can be definitively answered in advance, as if its lasting notability is challenged it would likely be decided through a "deletion debate", where the community would consider the individual merits of the article in determining whether to retain it or not.
Another point to consider is the degree to which your personal involvement might be problematic for you. The big pitfalls here are "original research" and neutrality. If you know first-hand what happened, it may be difficult for you to stick to published sources, but I'm afraid that's what Wikipedia would require. Wikipedia, as an encyclopedia, strives to be a compendium of previously published information. We are not a source of primary material, such as firsthand witness accounts. As far as neutrality is concerned, I would of course have no idea if this would even be a concern, since I am unfamiliar with the case. But, for example, you mention "inappropriate negotiation and intelligence dissemination". Neutrality requires that mention of this be supported by source that verify that this was the dominant view of reliable sources. Significant minority views must also be covered. If sources do not document that this is a dominant view, then inclusion of that here would be non-neutral (and, again, "original research").
You probably would also want to pay attention to the style and tone. The excerpt you provide seems a bit lively for an encyclopedia. :) (See Wikipedia:TONE#Tone.) Events that take place in the past are described in the past tense, for example. And we don't change names in articles. It is very appropriate to omit them to protect the privacy of individuals (read more about that at Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons), but what's written should be verifiably accurate, and pseudonyms don't meet that goal.
These are the factors I'd suggest you consider prior to submitting an article on the subject. Good luck with your article, whether you ultimately decide that it belongs on Wikipedia or elsewhere. It sounds like an interesting work. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 17:33, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Educational Malpractice
[edit]
Educational Malpractice is not a legal cause of action in many states in the USA. See Alsides v. Brown Institute, Ltd. (Minn. Ct. App. 1999) See also http://www.student-b-warned.synthasite.com
The result is these immune institutions can't be sued for anything done to their clients (students) under the guise of "professional judgment" or "administration of programs".
Colleges are featured in Wikipedia and those that are immune from Educational Malpractice should be linked to an article that explains this in the interest of consumer protection.
I have created a subpage in my user space for this article. You are invited to contribute.
Goot Edrze (talk) 18:45, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. I don't see any sign that you've actually contribute content to an article on this subject. :) The drawing board is a place to discuss ideas for an article that you intend to write. If you want to suggest an article and invite collaboration, you may have more success approaching an interested wikiproject, like Wikipedia:WikiProject Schools, Wikipedia:WikiProject Universities or Wikipedia:WikiProject Law. You may get more takers if you bring along some references to reliable sources to help verify that this is a notable topic for concern. Hello, and Welcome to Wikipedia! Articles on web material (like articles on people and groups) need to indicate straight out the gate what makes them special or notable, or they may be subject to "speedy deletion". In the lead of a such an article, you should explain what makes this new forum the kind of thing that might be written about on an encyclopedia. To give you an idea, you might want to look at the notability guidelines on website. There are a few specific factors that might make the site notable. If it doesn't meet these (for example, if it hasn't received a notable award), the general rule of thumb is noting whether the website has received significant or widespread coverage in secondary sources that are reliable and independent of the website (excluding PR releases and information solely available on the website—these sources may be used for additional information after notability has been established by secondary sources). All material must be attributable. Lacking secondary coverage, even if the article does indicate what makes its subject important, it may be deleted by other processes. It's always a good idea to address that from the start.
If you are closely associated with the website, our conflict of interest guideline strongly recommends that you do not create or edit the article yourself, but instead consider proposing its creation at requested articles or at a related article or relevant WikiProject. If you do choose to write the article in such a case, you'll want to be particularly careful to approach it neutrally and without undue promotion. These policies affect editors who do not have a conflict as well, but they've been noted as particularly problematic where conflict exists. An article that is too promotional will also be speedily deleted (just as would one that is too negative).
Before establishing the article, please search Wikipedia to make sure that an article does not already exist on the subject, perhaps under a variant name. BiographyPROF.K.L.NARASIMHAM 1907–1981
[edit]
PROF K.L.NARASIMHAM 1907–1981 (Contributed by PROF.K.NARASIMHAM’s son ‘KASTURI’ Radhakrishna) 10/27/2008 [text removed; asserts prior publication, no verification of permission --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:39, 29 October 2008 (UTC)] Reference: This biography was written at the time of the Prof Narasimham Memorial Lecture on 18 Dec 2002. Dr P Chidambaram, Principal Scientific Advisor to Govt of India, delivered the lecture. —Preceding unsigned comment added by KRR (talkcontribs) 27 October 2008[reply]
Hi. Lacking reliable sources to verify, I can't be sure, but it looks as though your father may meet our guidelines for inclusion for academicians. The text I've removed, though, is a problem, since you indicate it was previously written in 2002. Unless it was written by you, the copyright to it is held by somebody else--Dr. Chidambaram, perhaps?--and we can't publish it here (not even on the Drawing Board) without permission. Wikipedia is hosted in the United States, and we are governed by United States' copyright laws in what we can publish. We can use previously authored material as a source of ideas, but not as a source of sentences. (See our copyright policy for more on that.)
An additional matter of concern is your relationship to him. Since you are his son, you are considered closely connected. Individuals who are closely connected to subjects are strongly advised not to write articles about them. It isn't impossible, but it does require special care to remain neutral and to avoid adding information you may know to be true but cannot verify through published sources. See our "conflict of interest" guidelines for more. I have seen people draft articles on subjects to which they are closely connected in a usersubpage and then seek feedback at the appropriate noticeboard before moving it to article space. This may be a good idea, as otherwise the article could be tagged "{{COI}}", which not only mars its appearance but also suggests that the article is not neutral, which may mislead our readers into thinking that you are exaggerating your father's accomplishments. In my experience, it's best to avoid that from the start.
If you wish to write the article anyway, my suggestion would be to do so in userspace, drafting an article in completely new language with citations to appropriate sources to verify how he meets the notability guideline. Once it is complete, I would bring it up at the noticeboard I linked above and ask a contributor there to help you evaluate it for neutrality. This shouldn't be a problem, as long as you are relying on appropriate sources. You might also look at Wikipedia:Your first article and Wikipedia:How to write a great article to get some information on how to format and organize material. Please consider taking a tour through the Wikipedia:Tutorial. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:39, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Professor Googenheimershloganlofer
[edit]
Professor Googenheimershloganlofer was born on Yoogen 46, 3019 in the Floating Gorgan Hospital on Vexus 9.Professor Googenheimershloganlofer aged quickly, being 16 years old, by the time it takes a normal person to be 3. Therefore, by the time his brother was 10, he was about 53 years old. This fascinated most yellow sponge cakes. In fact, the yellow sponge cakes had been forming an army, that then attacked Professor Googenheimershloganlofer. He survived, by eating his way through. President Leckler was furious at that time. A quote from his famous speech said, "Professor Googenheimershloganlofer is an outrage to America, eating those poor sponge cakes, we should fight! This man thinks he could kill innocent sponge cakes... How do you think Spongebob feels?" (Keep in mind that Spongebob turned out to be a real creature, living in the deep depths of the Indian Ocean.
Sadly President Leckler did have declare an attack on Professor Googenheimershloganlofer, which most people claimed barbaric, stated that you couldn't declare an attack on a single person. President Leckler didn't pay much attention to these comments and continued on with his attack. It was named the most pointless battle of all time. President Leckler sent 60,000 Gegler tanks, 94,000 Wakeyhoos, and 345,834,443,379 SWAT forces to the scene. Historians later described that Professor Googenheimershloganlofer was sipping a cup of tea when he heard a knock at the door. He answered it, dropping his tea as he took in all that went on outside. All the Gegler tanks, the Wakeyhoos, and the SWAT forces attacked, and 100% of them missed. (Also Look Up Epic Fail)
Professor Googenheimershloganlofer was VICTORIOUS!
Too bad for those sponge cakes though.
Hello, and Welcome to Wikipedia. This particular article would be governed by the notability guidelines on companies. The rule of thumb here is noting whether the company has received significant or widespread coverage in secondary sources that are reliable and independent of the company (excluding company PR releases and information solely available on the company website—these sources may be used for additional information after notability has been established by secondary sources). All material must be attributable.
I advised a contributor above that he might wish to create an article in user subpage and request feedback at the conflict of interest noticeboard prior to moving it to article space. This may be a good option for you. However, given the similarity between your username and the company you wish to write about it, it is possible that your article and account would be identified as promotional, in which case, an article might be speedily deleted under criterion G11--advertising. The use of a company name is also strongly discouraged under our username policy. This is particularly a problem if the username is intended for more than one individual, as group accounts are not allowed. While we greatly appreciate that your use of a such a name demonstrates your honesty about your connection, you may wish to consider requesting a name change. If your name is perceived as promotional, the account may be blocked from contributing to Wikipedia.
Norman Craig
[edit]
Norman Craig (RIP) was a hero of the N. Ireland troubles. He bravely confronted sectarianism in Belfast during the 1970's and 1980's by creating a soccer team called Ballynafeigh Youth FC which comprised Catholic and Protestant boys. This was very unusual for this time period and teenage boys did not normally mix with each other never mind play as team members in a sporting team
Unfortunately Norman's life was cut short by Cancer but his impact on the lives of hundreds of people in Belasf lives on. It would be a fitting tribute to his short life to start a wikipedia page about him. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ballynafeigh (talkcontribs) 28 October 2008
Hi, and Welcome to Wikipedia.
First let me note that Wikipedia is not for tributes, but that doesn't mean that an article about him doesn't belong. :) In order to create an article about that person, you'll need to be able to assert notability per Wikipedia's notability guidelines on biographies, which will mean utilizing reliable secondary sources, like newspaper articles or magazine profiles. Basically, you want to be able to demonstrate that he is "notable" because other sources have already "noted" him. A couple of really good sources can do it. Best possible option would be a healthy interview or profile in a newspaper or two. Lacking that, multiple sources might serve.
Your username suggests you might be closely associated with the subject (though maybe not). If you are, our conflict of interest guideline urges great caution, particularly with neutrality and not adding information you know to be true but cannot verify.
Help:Starting a new page should give you all the guidance you need to get an article going, but you might also look at Wikipedia:Your first article and Wikipedia:How to write a great article. Bleron Baraliu
[edit]
Bleron Baraliu (born 30 March, 1977, Kosovo) is an Albanian hedge fund manager and trader in Wall Street. In 2007 he was selected by Trader Magazine as one of the "Top 30 Under 30 Traders" in Wall Street [15].
In 1994 he migrated to the United States and completed his education (BA, 2000 and Masters, 2003) at Columbia University in New York CU page. Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! It looks likely that this individual meets our inclusion guidelines for biographies based solely on the above. Some of those sources may not be the best, though. This one looks like a self-published source, for instance, which is not usable to verify notability. The Trader Magazine listing is good. This one might be, although I wouldn't know. :) It looks like it has his name in the headline and hosts an interview with him, though, which are good signs. I've found a few other sources that could help to demonstrate that he has widespread coverage: this looks usable (whatever it may say; it seems to be a recent interview), this could be usable. Additional press coverage could only help—newspaper or magazine articles that supply more than trivial coverage on the individual are perfect.
An article of this sort would be covered by Wikipedia's guidelines on "biographies of living persons", which in part urges editors to be extremely careful not to include any information that isn't sourced, even if it's true, and also reminds us that biographies particularly must be written from a neutral point of view.
If you are closely associated with the subject, our conflict of interest guideline urges great caution, particularly with neutrality and not adding information you know to be true but cannot verify. It is strongly recommended that you do not edit an article on a subject with which you have a conflict of interest but instead consider proposing its creation at requested articles or at a related article or relevant WikiProject.
Matunga being the new paradise, created by Lucifer as he was tossed out of heaven for his betrayal of god. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.251.66.61 (talk) 01:34, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
of the nine spheres of hell (the planets)
[edit]
in the beginning god created the hells. Each of these hells, for the unholy and traitor angels, was made and placed in no particular order from the sun. the sun being, Lucifer first, and Illumine second, provided light and heat for the universe.
Mercury-closest to the sun was the hottest of all, in which angels sent here were burned for a thousand years until their eventual death
venus- being second was a more brutal version of the first. in this planet the angels lived longer and did not burn but melted in their own skin. It is said that before they die their acids and blood would boil until finally they would melt to the floor becoming the very earth another angel would later receive
Earth- the worst of all hells, for god created this earth for the most evil angels, in this hells of hells the angels could breathe yet the air was like broken glass to their lungs, the water was always boiling to their touch yet it rained often, and the winds tore their skin, god created this hell for angels not to die but to live eternally
Mars- the frozen lake bed, in this hell a giant holds the angels beneath the frozen waves for decades. after one decade the giant raises the angel and slowly peels off the pruned skin
Saturn: in this hell it is said the storms rage forever yet the climate is never the same. each day of the week is a new storm. Water, ice, fire, iron, rock, thunder. The angel in this hell must survive 3 weeks without kneeling in pain or else the trial would start again.
Jupiter- in this heck are drawn insane by reminders of the heaven lost. the angel would witness the events leading to his demise over and over again until eventually the angel would try to kill itself. But finding no item for the dead, most angels resort to finally ripping off their own flesh to bleed to death
neptune- in this hell meteorites rain toward the hell day after day. Most angels never get struck and resort to thrusting themselves toward the rocks
to be continuesd —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.251.66.61 (talk) 01:53, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Do you have sources? If there are widespread reliable sources verifying the notability of this concept, then it may be appropriate for an article on Wikipedia. Otherwise, it probably isn't. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 20:13, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, Cjhowe1992, and welcome to Wikipedia. :) At a glance, it does not look as though this person (you?) yet meets our inclusion guidelines for biographies, though he may once he gets a film career going. (You can read them tucked behind the colored text.) At that point, though, you probably wouldn't want to be the person to write it. Wikipedia strongly discourages conflict of interest editing, and especially autobiography. Meanwhile, maybe you could contribute information to some of our other articles that interest you. I'll place a "welcome" notice on your userpage that includes some information you might find useful if you'd like to pitch in. Most of the core information you need to know can be found right here. Thanks, and happy editing. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 20:23, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
How do I get myself on Wiki
[edit]
I am a Professor at USC and I have almost 1000 hits on google (2300 on Yahoo) and I have been asked by friends why I dont have a wiki page. I used to run a major homeless agency and have been interviewed on tv, newspapers, radio, etc. Is this something that a person does?
Thanks.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Changelives (talkcontribs) 29 October 2008
Hi, and welcome to Wikipedia. It sounds very likely that you would meet our notability guidelines (there are two here worth looking at: our general notability guidelines for people and our notability guidelines for professors. If you've been interviewed in multiple formats, you likely meet either of them.
However, Wikipedia strongly discourages autobiography (or any other "conflict of interest" editing) for several reasons. Chief among them is that it can be challenging to write neutrally about a subject near and dear to us. Also it can be hard to stick with verifiable information, but policy requires it. You can't write something in your biography that you know to be true if it is not verifiable by a published source. This one can be frustrating for all of Wikipedia's contributors, I imagine, but it's one of the checks and balances we have in place to be sure that our readers get the most reliable resource they can, given that we allow anyone to contribute. We can't speak to the qualifications of our authors, so we focus strongly on the transparent reliability of our sources.
The official recommendation here is that you request the article at "requested articles" or at the talk page of a related article or Wikiproject (Wikipedia: WikiProject Universities, Wikipedia:WikiProject California, for example.) This may or may not be effective, because, honestly it depends on who is around at a given moment and what they feel like working on. I've mentioned to several contributors above that I have also seen contributors create article in user subpage and then request feedback at the conflict of interest noticeboard. Occasionally, this works—a friendly contributor there will look over your article in subspace, approve it, and move it to the article space. Occasionally, though, you might run into one of our more paranoid volunteers. There are some individuals on Wikipedia who have missed the fact that we "strongly discourage" "conflict" editing, but don't disallow it.
This is one of the main reasons why I urge caution in creating or editing an article about yourself. Even if your edits are well-intentioned, other editors may respond to it with some suspicion and even hostility, considering it overly promotional, tagging it with a {{coi}} warning which not only looks ugly, but also raises suspicions to readers that you're up to something. Not that I'm trying to dissuade you altogether from editing such an article. I just think it's only fair that you go into it eyes open. :) If I were going to place an autobiography on Wikipedia for some reason, I would make sure it is scrupulously neutral and scrupulously sourced, and I would still get a disinterested editor to sign off on it. And even doing that, I would brace for challenge.
Your best bet might be to tell you friends when they ask why you don't have an article yet, "Because you haven't written it." Provided, that is, they aren't so very close to you. They might also have a COI. :) Even if they don't have an account, they still might be able to write an article about you. For unregistered users only, we have a forum called "articles for creation" (AfC), where unregistered users may submit an article that experienced Wikipedians will evaluate. If those articles meet guidelines, they'll be published.
From this point, the procedure is the same whether you write an article in article space or subspace or one of your acquaintances does it, here or at AfC. Help:Starting a new page should give you all the guidance you need, but you might also look at Wikipedia:Your first article and Wikipedia:How to write a great article. Please consider taking a tour through the Wikipedia:Tutorial so that you know how to properly format the article before creation.
If you have additional questions or would like further feedback from me specifically about this, and you don't happen to return within the next day or two, you may wish to check with me directly at my talk page. This forum can be very busy, and messages left in older sections can be overlooked. Good luck, and happy editing. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 20:45, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, and welcome to Wikipedia. The serious problem with the above (which I've removed) is that it is copied verbatim from external sites. Material cannot be copied to Wikipedia from any other source unless it is public domain, licensed compatibly with GFDL or unless we receive explicit permission from the copyright holder through one of the processes set out at WP:Permission. Because we do not require identity verification at account creation, we need this external permission even if the material is placed by the copyright holder him or herself. Because we cannot legally display the text without that on any space in Wikipedia and because the site is clearly not public domain or licensed compatibly (see this), I've removed the text from this page. Wikipedians can use external sites as sources of information, but not as sources of phrases or sentences. Brief quotations may be used if marked and attributed under some circumstances; see our non-free content guidelines for more.
Aside from the very serious matter of copyright, the question would be what reliable sources you might have to verify the "notability" of this plane. (As a product, it is covered under our notability guidelines for organizations and products.) Essentially, what you should be looking for here is widespread coverage in newspapers, magazines, respectable industry websites. These must be unconnected to the subject; material at an official website, for instance, can be used to add detail, but not to verify notability.
If you have such sources, then there should be problems with creating this article. You might want to take a look at existing article Sukhoi Su-33 to get some ideas on how to format it. (Please note, strange as it may sound, that even if you copy material from within Wikipedia, you have to note where it came from. Usually, we do that by linking in the edit summary. For example, if you wanted to base the first sentence of your article off of this: "The Sukhoi Su-33 (NATO reporting name ‘Flanker-D’) is a carrier-based multi-role fighter aircraft produced by Russian firm Sukhoi beginning in 1982", you could do so just coping in your "edit summary" a note like "Some material copied from Sukhoi Su-33". If you decide to do that and want help, please let me know at my talk page. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 19:09, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, and welcome to Wikipedia. I'm not sure what you propose to do with this material, as it doesn't seem to be an article in Wikipedia's sense. Without more, I can't be sure, but it looks like you might be thinking of crafting a guide to decoration. If so, it is unlikely to be appropriate here, as Wikipedia does not host guides. We do have a number of existing articles on interior design, where a section on "eclectic design" might be appropriate, with reliable sources to verify information. If "eclectic design" is a widely enough utilized concept in interior design, it may warrant an article on its own. (See our notability guidelines to get an idea.) Such an article should be a straightforward presentation of facts about the concept, though, and not a "how to". See Pueblo Revival Style architecture as an example. You might document, for example, the emergence of it as a specific design concept, its prevalence, etc. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 20:01, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm afraid that neither of the links you have provided are enough to establish the notability of the subject. You need to find articles that are actually written about the subject; trivial mention in passing while discussing another subject is insufficient. When an article is created for our encyclopedia, the authoring editor(s) need to be sure to establish the subject's notability in the article by verifying the information with citations to reliable sources, preferably by using footnotes. Articles that don't establish their subject's notability may be deleted. personal ethics
[edit]
Personal ethics are some how what we think its right to do.They are not being enforced by anyone but what you see as right to do may not be neccesarily be right for someone else.They differ from one person to person. On the other hand professional ethics are limited in capacity as they are useful in the work place and they are enforced by code of conduct and if you are not following them. You can be punished.
Professional ethics are the only ones that have any legal significance. They are contained in your state's rules of professional conduct for lawyers.On the other hand for personal ethics lying, cheating and stealing are out, as are all other offenses of moral turpitude and dishonesty. Abusing others is out. Filthy language is out because it offends people. Disobedience to lawful authority is a sign one is ethically challenged. Using dope and tobacco, drinking to excess and gambling are signs of louche living and disclose a tendency to skate close to the line, and a lack of self control...if your personal ethics are pegged to "I'll do what I please as long as I think nobody's watching" that's a red flag. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rohit88 (talkcontribs) 13:43, 31 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hello! Welcome to Wikipedia and thanks for writing! Ethics in most modern usage pertains to the codes of conduct of an external group, such as have been written about in our Professional ethics article. Personal ethics, on the other hand, are usually considered to be synonymous with Morals. You may wish to contribute to those and related articles. However, if you do wish to start a new article, you need to be sure to establish the subject's notability in the article by verifying the information with citations to reliable sources, preferably by using footnotes. There are a lot of sources out there for an article on this magazine, and it would be great to put an article about this magazine in here. I don't know if more sources would be necessary, or other sources would be required. I think that because of the inherent COI, that someone else should take on the editing of this article, but I feel it should be added. Eventsolutions (talk) 18:38, 31 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. The thing to do, to request that somebody else write the article, would be to either list it at requested articles, which can be a slow process, although sources should help, or to request it at a related Wikipedia:WikiProject. With respect to your sources, some of them may be better than others. Things to look out for include self-published sources, like blogs (unless published by notable industry professionals), and promotional sources, including PR releases and sites that sell the magazine. Best for our purposes are secondary sources, like profiles in newspapers or other industry magazines. I'm trying to think what might make a good WikiProject for this--Wikipedia:WikiProject Media, perhaps? We don't have one that I know of specifically for events. You might also ask at the talk page of a related article, but depending on how heavily monitored the article is, you may not attract much notice. Talk:Event planning, for instance, is extremely quiet. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 19:07, 31 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
