Founded in 1947, Star Micronics Co., Ltd is one of the world's largest Japanese printer manufacturers and has facilities for worldwide production, marketing and support. Although Star is large enough to feature on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, it is still a family run company. Star’s history began with the precision processing of miniature components. Thereafter, it expanded into CNC Swiss-type automatic lathes, printer, micro audio components, and other fields, in line with the shifting demands of the times. [2] Employing over 2500 staff in multiple countries and achieving turnover in excess of £267 million [3][4] Star Micronics makes POS thermal and dot matrix printers and mechanisms, designed for barcode, ticketing, receipts and labelling. Star's technology is also being used to develop reader/writer systems for visual/smart and magnetic stripe cards and to install print mechanisms in multimedia kiosk environments. The Star Micronics' range is available internationally via a distribution channel comprising distributors and dealers.
