Today is Friday, March 9, 2012, 06:10 (UTC/GMT).
There are 3,892,188 articles on the English Wikipedia.

My bot, EditorBot, was for approval at Wikipedia:Bots/Requests for approval/EditorBot, but it failed. The Bot account is reserved, however, and whether or not it will ever be used remains a mystery.

Welcome to my user page. You really should be editing right now. So why are you wasting your time reading this sentence? I could just go on an on about myself, but why should I? Since you are still here right now, I will welcome you under this comfy blanket.

Apparently only 56 Wikipedians have created more articles than me.

I started editing under this account shortly after the New Year, 2008, after editing under an IP for a while. My username is derived from that of User:Destroyerofthewiki, a sockpuppet of User:DavidYork71. Instead of destroying the wiki, I want to edit it, and I would have chosen a better username, but all the good ones are taken. I think that I did quite well with what's left, don't you think?

My 1,000th edit was an edit to User talk:Friday on February 13, 2008 about my Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:Proposed deletion‎ (which closed as snowball but I decided to give it a shot).

I am an active member of Wikipedia:WikiProject Earthquakes. I don't really have much of a liking of these destructive ruptures, in case you're wondering. They are pretty fun to write about however. My time there has not been wasted: I basically wrote FA 2002 Bou'in-Zahra earthquake (with some copyediting help and some small additions, mostly from from User:LordSunday) and GA 1992 Nicaragua earthquake (also written from scratch--this was speedied while a stub!).

I will tell you nothing about my personal life, since I don't know who you are, except I am a male human from the Planet Earth who was born sometime in the 20th century.

I am a bit of a linguist, as demonstrated by my languageboxes below:

Becoming an Administrator

Any user can become an administrator (AKA "sysop"). Admins have no special rights over the content of Wikipedia; they are like janitors. An admin can delete pages (in accordance with Wikipedia:Deletion policy), protect them (in accordance with Wikipedia:Protection policy), and block vandals (in accordance with Wikipedia:Blocking policy). All of these actions can be undone by any sysop. If you have been active on Wikipedia for some time (four to six months with at least 3000 edits is a good guideline), apply for adminship today if you want to help with the housekeeping.

Claude grahame-white on aeroplane.jpg

The 1910 London to Manchester air race took place between two aviators, Claude Grahame-White (pictured) and Louis Paulhan, who each attempted to win a £10,000 prize for flying from London to Manchester in under 24 hours. Grahame-White was the first to make the attempt, on 23 April 1910, but engine trouble forced him to land near Lichfield, where he had to give up because of inclement weather. Several days later Paulhan began his flight, with Graham-White, his aeroplane only just repaired, following several hours behind. Despite Graham-White's best efforts, Paulhan arrived in Manchester on 28 April, and won the prize. The event marked the first long-distance aeroplane race in England, the first take-off by a heavier-than-air machine at night, and the first powered flight into Manchester from outside the city.
