File permission problem with File:Asoka Hewage.jpg[edit]

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Asoka Hewage.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the GFDL or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. (ESkog)(Talk) 14:47, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Media Circle[edit]

Ambox warning pn.svg

A tag has been placed on Media Circle requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.) or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Please do not replace Wikipedia pages with blank content, as you did to Bodhgaya. Blank pages are harmful to Wikipedia because they have a tendency to confuse readers. If it is a duplicate article, please redirect it to an appropriate existing page. If the page has been vandalized, please revert it to the last legitimate version. If you feel that the content of a page is inappropriate, please edit the page and replace it with appropriate content. If you believe there is no hope for the page, please see the deletion policy for how to proceed. Alan (talk) 06:17, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

Verifiability[edit]

Re. D. S. Senanayake College

You cannot use your personal experience as a reference.

To quote from the verifiability policy, "Articles should be based on reliable, third-party, published sources with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy. Reliable sources are needed to substantiate material within articles, and citations are needed to direct the reader to those sources to give credit to the writers and publishers.".

All facts need to reference an appropriate reliable source - such as a published book or a newspaper article. Any information that lacks such a reference may be removed.

Please could you remove the unsourced information from that article.

In addition, you clearly have a conflict of interest, so I suggest that you read about appropriate ways of editing such articles.

Thanks, Smappy (talk) 18:20, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

Reply to your question

If there is no reliable source for information, then it is not verifiable, and therefore doesn't belong on Wikipedia.

The reader should be able to check the facts for themself, by looking up the reference (either online, or books/newspapers) to verify that it is true.

This is one of the principles of Wikipedia.

It is also one of the reasons that editing with a conflict-of-interest is so strongly discouraged; it is easier to make sure that all information is well sourced if you have no connection with the subject.

Bottom line: If the 'facts' are not published in an appropriate reliable source, then they should not be used. Smappy (talk) 15:02, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

Your recent edits[edit]

Stop hand nuvola.svg Your addition to Royal College Colombo has been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other websites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of article content such as sentences or images. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Another editor has therefore removed the text of the Coat of Arms section because you had obviously taken it from this website. De728631 (talk) 17:19, 23 August 2010 (UTC)

Your help is very welcome but next time please try to write your own text with information from the sites you'd like to use. That would really be helpful. De728631 (talk) 16:23, 25 August 2010 (UTC)

Hello[edit]

Hi Pasanbhathiya2, I just wanted to let you know that I tood a look at your recently created article Shihan Mihiranga Bennet-- The information is presented clearly and is easy to understand. However, I think the article seems to contain a few errors: the article currently does not have appropriate sections and headings. It would be great if you could also Wikify the related article Shihan.

It's always nice to see users contributing to make Wikipedia better!Jipinghe (talk) 21:50, 15 September 2011 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Shihan Mihiranga Bennet[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Shihan Mihiranga Bennet requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Ravendrop 03:41, 6 October 2011 (UTC)

2013[edit]

Today onwards, I will be a very knowledged Wikipedian. I have been away from the editing for a long time, and has made several mistakes in the past having no clear idea on copyright issues and conflict of interest issues. I will not clean this page, and anyone can see my past mistakes and I will try my best not to do them again. :) thanks Pasanbhathiya2 (talk) 13:07, 27 May 2013 (UTC)
