Thank you!

Thank you for reviewing my newly created articles!

Im new at wiki, and am taking bold steps to try to add and improve content, while staying within wiki guidelines and criteria. I appreciate the support of more long-term editors! I'll keep my eye on notability, and putting focus on value (although I geek out on science articles that have 4 daily readers also : - P).

I wonder, if I have your ear, can you tell me if you're able to see the status of this article, which was re-submitted for review in April? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Philbert_Maurice_d%27Ocagne

For that one, I found an additional source to reference the content from, so it wasnt just a translation from the french wiki article. I cant tell if it is in an approval queue, or if it might be deleted after some time. Thanks so much, and good day! January2009 (talk) 22:36, 1 May 2014 (UTC)

Deletion of Andrew Stanley

Hi there I noticed you recommended deletion of the page for Andrew Stanley as it not having any references. I have added a reference but was wondering how many are needed for the deletion to be cancelled?

Thanks for reviewing Tandi (given name)

The main reason I am thanking you is because you didn't automatically tag it with an {{Unreferenced}} or {{Stub}} tag. Well, long story short, if you look at the edit history of Tandi (given name), you will see what I'm talking about. Thanks again! Steel1943 (talk) 18:20, 2 May 2014 (UTC)

I wish you didn't delete the Alejandro Valleneuava (American Football) article

I worked really hard on that article bud to make it look as professional as possible instead of the other one that you pointed out for me on my talk page but whatever, it was the first time I've ever "created an article" so I understand that I should leave things like that to the pros at this site I guess.

I'll just stick to article editing since I tried to find the article before creating that one but like I said it's ok. :(

but hey, for the first time you gotta give me a little credit there. that did look WAY more professional than the one that already exists hopefully someone will edit it with an infobox and a military infobox to make it stand out on the page to look more professional — Preceding unsigned comment added by Codreezy (talkcontribs) 00:14, 6 May 2014 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Jacques Maumont, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Sound editor. Hello Wgolf,

Thanks for reviewing my recently submitted article in respect of Roy Summersby. I note that the article is now rated as “stub” class whereas upon acceptance earlier the same day it was rated as “start”, (as per notification on my talk page). I do not know whether either category is right or wrong or even if it is just an arbitrary decision in the mind of the reviewer? The article contains more information than some I have seen rated as “stub”, which are just a very few lines with virtually no career details, or infobox & often lacking references. I’m not disagreeing with you per se but am interested to obtain more information generally. Thanks. Eagleash (talk) 11:52, 30 September 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion tag on Dr. Pavithran

Hi Wgolf,

There is a speedy deletion tag placed on my article Dr. Pavithran by u claiming that already a page called V. K. Pavithran exists. Let me clear the air first. Dr. Pavithran and V. K. Pavithran are two different personalities in Malayalam movie industry. V. K. Pavithran a.k.a Pavithran is an award winning director who directed 5 Malayalam movies whereas Dr. Pavithran is a lyricist who has penned for around 50 movie songs and did dialogue, script and story for 20 movies. IMDb also mistook these two as a single person and put together their works.

This is the profile of V. K. Pavithran in MSIDB and malayalachalachithram http://en.msidb.org/displayProfile.php?category=director&artist=Pavithran http://www.malayalachalachithram.com/profiles.php?i=2311

This is the profile of Dr. Pavithran in MSIDB and malayalachalachithram http://en.msidb.org/displayProfile.php?category=lyricist&artist=Dr%20Pavithran http://www.malayalachalachithram.com/profiles.php?i=405

I hope its clear now. Please remove the speedy deletion tag if everything is clear.

I was just passing by, and have removed the tag. --Paul_012 (talk) 07:03, 2 October 2014 (UTC)

Redirections at AfD

Re: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Masta Blasta (The Rebirth), if an article can be a reasonable redirect, it shouldn't be brought to AfD unless the nominator (you, in this case) believes the article topic has a chance of being deleted outright. Articles about songs of notable bands typically make good redirect targets, and can either be discussed on their article talk pages or just done boldly. In any case, they need not go to AfD if deletion is not actually on the table. czar  07:59, 25 October 2014 (UTC)

Richard Gareth Davies

It's wrong to say that Richard Gareth Davies does not have references. They don't appear in a reflist, but three books authored by him are in the text. To satisfy the "letter of the law" I can duplicate the information as actual references, but this seems pointless to me. Peter coxhead (talk) 10:59, 30 January 2015 (UTC)

I have added additional material, but my original objection to your listing for deletion stands. Peter coxhead (talk) 12:39, 30 January 2015 (UTC)
Thank you Peter coxhead; I was beginning to wonder whether it was only me. So let me run this one by you and Wgolf while I have the attention of both. I created the article partly because the notability of RGD seemed to me adequate anyway, but equally because I wanted to avoid red links; in other words, there was a need for such an article and there are a few references to the article already. Persons working in this field might very well want to look up this name, either in his own right, or as referred to in the Imms and Richards articles among other places. As I see it this is already adequate justification for such an article.
However, there is a deeper problem as I see it. One gets stubs and small articles and full-sized studies, and I urge that even the original stub article, that barely mentioned the name, d.o.b. and the cited fact that he was an entomologist, could have justified its inclusion and retention. It might not have satisfied what a user might want to know, but it would have provided both a starting point and a perspective for further reference searches, and might in fact have been enough for many purposes.
So: what is the substantial basis for such proposed deletions, or the justification for any WP rules behind them? In my personal use of the encyclopaedia (and other reference sources) I have encountered stubs with less material content, without any sense that they did not belong in an encyclopaedia. My general impulse was to expand them where I could, not delete them. A Swedish member of the WP actually has written a stub generator that had added thousands of stubs to the Swedish WP, and IMO, he has performed a service, not sabotage. I would appreciate clarification of this point. JonRichfield (talk) 13:43, 30 January 2015 (UTC)
happening to come by, JonRichfield, stubs are certainly acceptable here. They don't in general even need a reference, except for BLPs. But even for BLPs without references, the appropriate method of deletion is WP:BLPPROD, not speedy. All that is necessary to pass speedy is an indication of plausible importance, and listing the books was sufficient to do that. The A7 tag was not appropriate--saying someone has published books (other than self published books) is an indication of significance, tho it may or may not be enough to pass WP:NAUTHOR. As for BLPPROD, technically, the ISBN numbers are a sufficient reference, but it is good practice always to add something in our usual reference format to avoid questions. DGG ( talk ) 06:19, 1 February 2015 (UTC)
@ DGG many thanks. I wasn't aware of those policies. There is a mountain of them of course, and I confess that I keep falling foul of them myself, so I emphatically am in no position to bite Wgolf for any arguable interpretations of the finer points. Anyway, it at least forced me to dig up some material on Davies, and of course I must thank Peter coxhead again for the material that he added. JonRichfield (talk) 12:36, 1 February 2015 (UTC)

Templating the user talk page is optional with Twinkle. Just un-tick the wee box. Sometimes it's better to not template, or to do a hand-written note instead. Too many templates, and the user will not see the hand-written notes, which may in fact be more important and/or more helpful than the templates. I'm just guessing, but I think that, at the very least, if you see that a page has a contribution by CorenSearchBot in its history, you should probably check that the problem has been fixed and been marked as fixed at WP:SCV, before you OK it (it doesn't matter if the notice is still on the article on not, people often just remove them without doing anything to fix the problem). What would probably be better, but more time-consuming, would be to run this useful tool on each article before giving it the thumbs-up. Regards, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 20:08, 14 February 2015 (UTC)

Okay-well I didn't see the copyright violation was the thing so thanks for the heads up. Wgolf (talk) 20:09, 14 February 2015 (UTC)
(the above moved here from my talk) I assumed as much. That's why I suggested making a habit of looking out for an edit by CorenSearchBot in the history; it's usually but not always the second edit to the page. Regards, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 21:01, 14 February 2015 (UTC)

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to David Harris may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:
  • * [[[K. David Harris]], former American justice of supreme court in Iowa

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, BracketBot (talk) 22:09, 15 February 2015 (UTC) I changed it. I'll need to go round again on Blind Willie's songs, I keep finding new reliable-looking sources. Narky Blert (talk) 23:54, 4 February 2015 (UTC)
Have you any insights on the term Amen Corner? I had long suspected that it was older than almost anything if not everything in WP - and working on God Don't Never Change reinforced those suspicions. (The next time I meet online my Christian friend Tom in OK, born c.1940, I'll be asking him too.) Narky Blert (talk) 00:14, 18 February 2015 (UTC)

I just wanted to let you know I have reverted your CSD on the above article because it has already survived an AFD. Since it was a non admin close you can try a 2nd nomination but I imagine it will come out that same at this point.- McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 02:57, 18 February 2015 (UTC)

This article originated as a translation of this version of its counterpart in the Italian-language Wikipedia.

Hello there!

Hello Wgolf, I've noticed that often both of us are simultaneously working at New Pages Patrol! Just wanted to thank you for your work around here. Keep it up! smileguy91talk 23:27, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

Hello Wgolf

Wow that was fast, your stub notation on the NB Boat Festival page was in under 120 seconds of the pages creation. That was impressive. Thanks for the patrol and it is just a start FYI. Cheers! --talk→ WPPilot  03:23, 28 February 2015 (UTC)

They do have a tendency to sneak in, don't they? I never notice, as I don't tend to keep an eye on my own articles, honestly...I'll take a look when I can, though. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 22:04, 28 February 2015 (UTC)

Surviving Evil

I'm creating "Surviving Evil (book)", and I created a disambiguation page that got reverted. If you want to speedy delete the movie page ( which I'll redo when the book is done) then it's kind of a waste of time. But go ahead.

Hi Wgolf. Thank you for the welcome. I have been wanting to edit Wikipedia for a long time, but the occasion that motivated me is the upcoming Wikipediathon hosted by the American society for Eighteenth Century Studies in honor of Adrianne Wadewitz. I'm finding the experience of editing pretty cool, and I hope to get my students to try it once I become easy with it. Cheers! LLRungegordon (talk) 18:29, 4 March 2015 (UTC)

Patrolling Pages.

Hello and good morning/afternoon. Question for you. I am still a newbie around here and was wondering if you could explain what it means when you mark a page as patrolled? You recently patrolled 2 pages I had created and was just curious what it meant. Also, if you have any feedback for me on those pages, I am all ears! Hoping you are well. --Zackmann08 (talk) 19:17, 4 March 2015 (UTC)

Youth revealing personal information

Thanks for posting there. If you see such content at a userpage, please also blank it and contact an admin to delete it. The admin will then delete it and ask for oversight to suppress the page. Many thanks, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:02, 4 March 2015 (UTC)

Actually, better may be to blank the userpage and mark it as patrolled. Then notify Wikipedia:Requests for oversight. They will suppress the information and caution the user. Many thanks. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:26, 6 March 2015 (UTC)
Hello, my friend. I think you may have missed the above post (00:26, 6 March). I was discussing things with other admins and we feel that it may draw too much attention posting at admin pages. They are very watched. All the best. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:15, 6 March 2015 (UTC)

I don't prod articles generally; more specifically, I assumed that more work would be done on it today, given the Art and Feminism Wikithon in New York. So I figured whoever had started it was going to come back for more. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 21:11, 7 March 2015 (UTC)

I deleted those two pages, but if you don't mind, when you are reporting stuff like that, can you make the section heading a little more subtle. Thanks, --kelapstick(bainuu) 21:55, 7 March 2015 (UTC)

Hi, you moved this while a new editor (who created the article in an edit-a-thon) was actively editing. I've had to do a history merge, to save all of her work, but that means some of the improvements you made are no longer extant. If you could wait until after this hour before editing the article again, the edit-a-thon event will be over, and the new editor not actively working on it. I'll also keep an eye on it, and will do cleanup work. Thanks for understanding. LadyofShalott 22:09, 7 March 2015 (UTC)

Kuriakose enjoyed his Golden Jubilee Celebration in April 2014.[2] He's old, not dead. However, the ease with which I located this source suggests he likely passes our notability standards, so I won't be restoring the prod template. Regards, VeryCrocker (talk) 18:43, 11 March 2015 (UTC)
