You're correct, I'd forgotten about the GFDL matter. On second thought, I'm not going to make any more changes to the article as I suspect this is going to flare up into yet another unproductive Wikipedia shitstorm. [[User:Bumm13|Bumm13]] 16:01, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

Contacting Deskana
  • Contact me on IRC. I'm usually in #wikipedia-en and #wikipedia-en-admins. Just say "Deskana" in a message to get my attention, since I use a wide variety of nicks.
  • Add a note on my Talk Page. Please read the rules below.
  • Email me

Deskana's Talk Page

  • If you wish to comment here, please sign your comments with four tildes ~~~~.
  • Please add new comments to the bottom of the page.
  • If I leave you a note on your talk page, you can reply either here or there, as you prefer. I tend to watchlist talk pages I comment on, but you can reply here if you prefer.
  • If you comment on my talk page, I could reply either here or on yours, depending on how important the reply is.
  • Be civil, don't attack me or anyone else, and I will do the same.

  • I reserve the right to ignore/remove comments without prejudice, especially insults/uncivil comments per the above. I may or may not give a reason for the removal.

Is this better?

By the way, Your talk page is incredibly long. I can't even see the letters I'm typing right now, which is what happens on very long pages. Could you please archive or something? Thanks.~~

Hope this works, but I'm still not happy with it.{{SUBST:user2NinaEliza}} 15:21, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

What exactly are you trying to do there? --Deskana (talk) 15:22, 23 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I saw the template thingy a while back, is it better? I haven't tried it. I thought the 2 would do something.{{SUBST:userNinaEliza}} 15:24, 23 December 2006 (UTC)Specifically, I want to have talk and logs, and contribs only - is that cool? Stick a fork in me, I'm done.NinaEliza 15:26, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

No such template exists. You're trying to subst Template:userNinaEliza which as you can see from the red link doesn't exist. Were you to try to subst User:NinaEliza you'd end up substituting your userpage onto every talk page you sign! If you can't figure out the syntax I'd suggest you try just going with a normal signature. Your new signature would work better if you turned Raw Signature off. --Deskana (talk) 15:27, 23 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Barnstar

I awarded it because you have helped other people, not me. It's not just the victim who can award them... E9

I am aware of that, what I was asking was who in particular I helped that made you award it? --Deskana (talk) 17:22, 24 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Everyone, I noticed that everyone was happy that you had helped them so I checked your contributions and decided to award you the RAOK. Also, I think it's only fair to give everyone a Barnstar and you fit the description for that one. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by E9 (talkcontribs) 17:28, 24 December 2006 (UTC).[reply]

I have had enough of talking to you. --Deskana (talk) 20:08, 24 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Removing messages

See my talk page. It seems the consensus on talk pages is that they're public property and while it's acceptable, messgaes should not be removed unless they are vandalism. GOD you must think I'm suicidal to say this to an admin... but I am in favour of WP:AGF and must therefore assume you don't know the policy. Sorry. E9

If you're talking about the message I just removed, it was from a guy who is now indefblocked as a sockpuppet. So if you've quite finished getting your kicks out of warning experienced administrators, I would appreciate you taking more care before you go warning people. --Deskana (talk) 17:46, 24 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Have you read the article on yourself lately? Wikipedia:Administrators... E9
You are no position to lecture me. If you're just here to try to antagonise me, just leave me alone. --Deskana (talk) 12:56, 25 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You think I'm lecturing you. I didn't write it. I'm assuming you actually clicked the link, of course. And if you win this argument by blocking me, at least I will have gained the victory of you not having thought of an answer. I'm not trying to antagonise you but (1) It says at the top you will remove messages and (2) Administrators must not use their superior rights to resolve disputes. Therefore if you block me you'll also be in the wrong. And do you think I like arguing and antagonising people? Actually I'm trying to get an experienced administrator to read the policies of the site he's an administrator of. Call me abusive, block me, fine. You have no right to and I have no reason to come back to Wikipedia - or at least contribute to it - if the people responsible for running it don't obey their own rules.
Where on earth did you get the idea that I'd block you? I am well versed in the rules, and understand what is expected of me. I don't need you, a user with collossal 7 edits in the article namespace (the thing that actually makes Wikipedia) to lecture me on standards (especially since you've decided it's alright to ignore a standard yourself, WP:SIG). If you don't like me and want to leave Wikipedia for that reason, it's a shame, but it really is your loss. I have nothing further to say on this matter, so do not expect a further reply to anything you say. --Deskana (talk) 15:23, 26 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't mean to ingore that one. If my signature is still that big, I apologise. I thought I'd changed it back to default. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by E9 (talkcontribs) 17:54, 4 January 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Doesn't matter. Turns out it was Taracka. As much I missed his totally over the top drama style of talking, I prefer to think of him as totally silenced. --Deskana (talk) 22:30, 24 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I mean you're a well-respected admin who is highly influential in his actions because of it. Once again, that's in my eyes alone, but perhaps it's also true in the eyes of others. My little attempt at being poetic was a gentle reminder of that, and a small comment about being terse, and sometimes a little intimidating. I've been here two months, so what do I know. WP:RfA and my signature

Dear Deskana,

I understand my signature is a little bit awkward. In fact, I had only put this signature for a test drive and attempt to receive comments from others. However, until your comment comes, I had receive no comments complaining about my signature. The only ones are positive. After all, I think it is unfair to judge someone by their signatures, especially they are in a test drive.

--Smcafirst or NickSignChit-ChatI give at 00:09, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That signature is ridiculous. End of discussion. I tried putting it nicer but you didn't seem to understand. --Deskana (For Great Justice!) 00:31, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Could you review my non-admin AfD closure, please?

I closed this AfD as non-admin speedy snowball keep. If you have the time, could you have a quick look and tell me if I did it right? Cheers! Yuser31415 06:11, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Admin abuse

User:ohnoitsjamie has been blocking users indefinitely without warning. I have recieved neumorous reports of this as well as being blocked for adding false information. I wasn't aware the information was false but was blocked indefinitely anyhow. I have reported this to several other administrators. This user refuses to admit he is blocking people without cause. I was told to post on the Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents page. Any help you can provide will be appriciated.

Protecting WP:ANI

Thanks. The IP vandal on WP:ANI is 99.9% likely User:Marshal2.0 aka User:Marshalbannana aka User:Jacknicholson. Another editor resolved the issue which caused me to add the WP:ANI entry (WP:ANI#Retributive sockpuppet accusation). — jesup 22:03, 8 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You can probably unprotect WP:ANI now; the case Marshal2.0/etc (as anon-IP) kept trying to remove has now been archived. Of course, he's now moved on to vandalizing my user page.... :-( That'll teach me for trying to help enforce the rules. And I was all ready to let him off the hook a couple of weeks ago (and said so on the puppet case against him at WP:Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/Jacknicholson(2nd)). — jesup 06:30, 10 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Some proof as to how User:Recoome may very well be User:Zarbon

Here. FIRST!--->If you look at the one's dated October 22nd - October 25th (or so), A User:Recoome suddenly appeared out of nowhere and reverted a DB article (it was either Dodoria's, Kiwi, or Zarbon (Dragon Ball)'s article) to a version by User:Zarbon or his sockpuppet with User:KojiDude reverting the page and saying in his edit summary (rv trolling from possible sock-puppet of banned user), and Recoome continued reverting DB articles as a WP:Troll would for a blocked/banned user and so forth up onto October 25th. Basically, I've really tried to use the CheckUser on this guy and when I do it, it comes up generally as an error. Ergo, you can easily tell that he is either a sockpuppet or meatpuppt of User:Zarbon simply by reading his: edit summaries, the way he signs his post, his talk messages, his somewhat nasty and/or uncivil comments, and maybe other similarities which I have yet to find out... So, PLEASE! using that evidence that I gave you, can ya request CheckUser on him? Honestly, I've actually tried at least three or four times, and it's SOOO complicated (with the IP, digits and numbers and all...) PL(DB) 20:37, 9 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I really don't understand the confusion that most people seem to get regarding checkuser. Watch and learn :-) --Deskana (For Great Justice!) 20:40, 9 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, while I'm doing this, can you find a sockpuppet recently confirmed to be Zarbon? Zarbon's account may be too old to check against. --Deskana (For Great Justice!) 20:41, 9 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I thought Zarbon's IP was autoblocked. Was I wrong? Yuser31415 20:46, 9 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sure. Also about (TestTemplates) you spoke of, I haven't even thrown them around to vandals recently since I've been busy updating some pages... PL(DB) 20:41, 9 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Um, did you want an IP address of his? All I got's a User:Dodoria (blocked by Darcy) and a 207.38.253.161 (which ya blocked for a week)... oh! User:Recoome has revealed on his user page that his IP address is 222.153.71.80. Will that help? PL(DB) 20:47, 9 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
So Deskana, it seems that you're an expert when it comes to CheckUser because I have no idea what you just did... But thanks! At least I didn't make a baseless accusation this time, right? Also as I mentioned earlier, 222.153.71.80 is revealed to be Recoome's IP adress according to his User page. Ya think that should be included at that complicated CheckUser you created or taken into consideration? PL(DB) 21:00, 9 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks!

Thank you :). BTW, where did the term 'forgive and forget, the Wiki[pedia] way?' come from?

Cheers! Yuser31415 21:30, 9 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the IRC invitation! I'd love to come on sometime, but not just now, if that's okay ... now I know how to get hold of you if I need to have a relatively private conversation about vandals who are being Zarbons :). I'll drop in sometime. Cheers! Yuser31415 21:41, 9 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Two Tupacs

There are two of them: Tupac (disambiguation) and Tupac. Um, shouldn't there be a deletion of one so that there's a history merge? I'm not what to request out of it. I'll let you decide that, sire. (Me | The Article) 19:02, 10 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pretty easy decision. Tupac (disambiguation) had more links on it so I just redirected Tupac to that. --Deskana (For Great Justice!) 19:07, 10 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No, no. I mean, shouldn't Tupac (disambiguation) redirect to Tupac? I don't know what the hell you just did, though. The reason being, there's no need for two of 'em since the parenthesis isn't necessary, ya know... (Me | The Article) 20:09, 10 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A history merge? That's a little over the top for a disambiguation page... perhaps a bit drastic. I'll do something else, hold on. --Deskana (For Great Justice!) 20:17, 10 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
There. Happy now? --Deskana (For Great Justice!) 20:19, 10 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oops, thanks...

Thanks for moving my warning from User:Big boy Bad boy to User_talk:Big boy Bad boy... guess I wasn't paying attention when I clicked to leave it. Regarding my blanking of my user talk page. I really wanna get this question answered and over with because I just wanna refresh it all (without ANYONE warning me for it). How 'bout this: If I do get warned, will you back me up Yuser? (Me | The Article) 03:24, 12 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Answer me this: if I archive your talk page, will you trust that I've done it the Right Way? Yuser31415 03:27, 12 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Look, I've been told that I can blank my talk page if I wanted to. But I might get warned for it. I need you guys to back me up for it. I DON'T want to archive. I WANNA refresh! Is that too much to ask? (Me | The Article) 03:32, 12 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Do you mean, remove all the comments for good, or clearing your talk page and moving the old comments to a subpage of your talk, out of the road? Yuser31415 03:36, 12 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
YES! YES! I wanna blank my entire user talk page. Besides, it'll still be on the history, right? I'll do this then, I'll archive it, and then blank it. Or should I just blank it now without archiving the rest? (Me | The Article) 03:41, 12 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Three things :)

Hi Deskana, just to ask you two things:

  1. Did I close Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Troll organization correctly, since this might be slightly more controversial than the other AfD's I've closed?
  2. When redirecting like I did, what should I do with the talk page (Talk:Troll organization)? Redirect it also or simply leave it as is?

And to tell you one thing:

  1. I have successfully worked out how to use IRC (on a very basic level, I haven't used it very much before). So if you're ever feeling like a chat or want to get hold of me privately, please let me know on my talk page.

Cheers!

Yuser31415 05:39, 13 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your reply!
  1. Yes, I will attempt to stick to (relatively) noncontroversial XfDs so as not to get into trouble with the Law.
  2. I redirected Talk:Troll organization to Talk:Troll (Internet). Hope that was the correct thing to do in the circumstances.
Cheers! Yuser31415 21:06, 13 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My userpage

Um, I didn't mean that I wanted to move/rename the page to my talk page. Can my userpage be deleted after I copy/paste every thing there to my user talk page? If deleting it isn't allowed after all this time, can I at least have it redirected to my user talk page? I will place the power levels, userboxes, etc., and everything else that is on there to my talk page. How 'bout it? (Me | The Article) 22:00, 13 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That isn't an appopriate use of your talk page. If you really must have that stuff somewhere (I don't approve of it incidentally, but ultimately my opinion matters not), then it should be on your userpage, not your talk page. --Deskana (request backup) 22:37, 13 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
So, it really isn't against any laws/policies/rules if I were to copy/paste everything from my user page to my user talk page? Is there someone else I should confirm this with? Maybe... (Me | The Article) 00:28, 14 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Your talk page should mostly consist of messages from other users. 12 sections of completely unrelated material will make it rather confusing for people who want to use your talk page. Kusma (討論) 07:35, 14 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A little problem at Talk:Grandpa Gohan

Hey, Deskana. We seem to have a little problem over at Talk:Grandpa Gohan. User:Power level (Dragon Ball) had requested moving the article a few days ago but the results ended up as keep. And today (or yesterday), User:DesireCampbell opened the same poll again. I was wondering if you would could step in and talk to them a bit. They might listen to an administrator such as yourself. Thanks in advance, no matter what your answer may be, and I hope you have a great '07! // PoeticDecay 16:58, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That is no problem, I closed the poll myself and urged them to debate in a standard manner. Yuser31415 20:01, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Um Yuser, you could have talked to DesireCampbell before ya did that again. No offense to you, but the talk page is being cluttered again with a closed poll. Isn't that bad? Power level (Dragon Ball) 20:10, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I need this moved to Get Down (I couldn't do it! I tried at least three times). I made "Get Down" a disambig. page without the parenthesis.

By the way, if ya could, can you fix up the "Get Down" page? I couldn' t tell if it was too overlinked or whatnot. Thanks! Power level (Dragon Ball) 00:43, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm guessing a history merge from the original Get Down disambig. page would be too much also? Power level (Dragon Ball) 00:59, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Please don't copy text from one article and paste it into another. This violates the GFDL, which all contributions to Wikipedia are licensed under. I know you tried to use the page move function first, which is the right way to do it, but if the page move function doesn't work for whatever reason, you should contact an administrator and take no further action.
I believe I've fixed this problem now anyway. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. --Deskana (request backup) 17:30, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your message. The revert you did (no offense) was made under an inactive guideline/policy. Could you explain why I really can't have it as I intended to? It redirects to the article anyways only if you were to click the link below. Power level (Dragon Ball) 18:35, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I explained it to you already. Just because there is no guideline that specifically prohibits it doesn't mean it's a good idea. For example, there is no Wikipedia:Administrators should not replace Main Page with Jesus but curiously I've managed to resist the temptation to do that so far. It is potentially confusing and serves no useful purpose. --Deskana (request backup) 19:41, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I looked through the users edits yesterday as per this. I deleted three future episodes with no known air date but they didn't appear to notice. I see that since then they have uploaded 24 new images incorrectly tagged. I left them a message at User talk:TSLcrazier#Problems and have warned them about their actions. In general though I think they may be a younger person, see their user page and the only 3 times they commented on a talk page her, here and here. Okay then. I closed Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Brown people as "Keep", and added the "Oldafdfull" tag to the talk page of that article. Yuser31415 20:36, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Done. I'd warn you that you can get yourself into a potentially messy situation by closing an AfD like that. Yes, I do agree with your assessment of the situation, but please do be careful. --Deskana (request backup) 20:46, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for all your work :) and the warning. By the way, how do you mean when you say "messy situation" ... (Pardon me for being WP:DENSE.) Cheers! Yuser31415 20:52, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If you don't stick to clearly unambiguous keeps, you can get people shouting a fuss at you for closing the AfD inappropriately. By clearly unambiguous, I mean near 100% keep votes. I had to do a bit of looking into the article to come to the consensus you got. Don't get me wrong, I agree with your summary of the situation, but it's my opinion that that sort of closure should come from an administrator. --Deskana (request backup) 21:05, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, I will remember your advice. In case you are interested, my RfA was exactly one month ago today. Yuser31415 21:12, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Another possible User:Zarbon...

149.68.165.196 has recently edited article pages from September to October that Zarbon once edited. I'm sure you're familiar with The Sopranos, right? Never mind that, few days ago, the anon IP edited Zarbon's userpage. I just tagged the IP's userpage and warned the person on the talk page that editing one's userpage isn't allowed without the authorization of said user. Hope I did the right thing Deskana... Power level (Dragon Ball) 20:48, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've seen that list before, it's Zarbon's. One month soft block. Thanks for the heads up. Infact, due to that, I'm now in the process of customising my favourite block template (Template:Block-reason) to accomodate banning someone for being a sockpuppet. --Deskana (request backup) 20:59, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Just wondering... you know that User:Zarbon spoke to a Mr. Darcy (another admin.) about being unblocked, right? It was apparently declined by another user (I think it also was an admin. who gave his/her opinion about the request) Anyways, were you gonna propose a community ban or somethin'? He was recently editing Wikipedia using other IPs ya know. I'm just curious about your thoughts about it, that's all... Power level (Dragon Ball) 03:20, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You could try proposing it yourself, if you like. I mean, we block his socks on sight, so perhaps formalising the process might be a good idea. --Deskana (request backup) 03:21, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Uh, it's alright. I was only gonna support the ban if you were gonna propose it. I don't feel like having all that trouble to begin it (besides, I fear that I still have enemies around and those enemies may want me blocked/banned for good as well). So, never mind it... Power level (Dragon Ball) 03:28, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'll consider proposing a ban for Zarbon. It's 3:30am here and I'm pretty tired at the minute. Perhaps tomorrow. And don't worry about people trying to get you blocked or banned, all you need to do is make sure you don't give them a reason to. Stay on your best behaviour and such. Don't worry too much :-) --Deskana (request backup) 03:29, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Wtf1.JPG)

Thanks for uploading Image:Wtf1.JPG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Hi, can ya place a {{blockedindef}} tag on that user's userpage and talk page? I mean, that account was actually blocked if ya check the block log. I know, what's past is past and I regret everything I did wrong before. Now I shall do things right from now on (as I've said already). And I believe that placing that tag there and on the talk page is the right thing to do. Correct me if I'm wrong though. Know what? For now, I'll place a {{blockedindef}} tag on Kabuto's talk page (since it's not protected like the userpage is). I did it to User talk:Kabuto Yakushi's page. One thing I'll always keep in mind: Forgive and forget, the wiki way!!! Power level (Dragon Ball) 01:46, 25 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've unprotected the page. You can do what you like to it. To be honest, I think you spend too much time trying to correctly tag the past rather than making your actions in the present be what defines you. --Deskana (request backup) 02:48, 25 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I just wanna do things right from now on. When I once said for the accounts to be deleted, this is what I meant: to place those tags on them since they were blocked indefinitely. And by the way, who deletes them after they have been tagged like that: an administrator or a bot? Power level (Dragon Ball) 02:54, 25 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Are you referring to deletion of the user/usertalk pages, or the account and all associated edits? If you're referring to the former, it's just administrators. If you're referring to the latter, accounts are never deleted in that sense. Personally I don't care how your past mistakes are tagged, "But that account doesn't have a userpage anymore because it's in the past" isn't as good as defense, as it were, as "But look at all my simply marvelous contributions now!" --Deskana (request backup) 02:57, 25 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Um, I'm not sure what you mean. I meant that when a user is blocked for good for continuous vandalism, their user/user talk pages are usually tagged with {{blockedindef}} and then a category at the very bottom of the page(s) automatically appears: [[Category: Temporary Wikipedian pages]]. Who/what deletes the pages is what I'm asking: an administrator or are they automatically deleted by a bot (a wiki-bot or something?) Power level (Dragon Ball) 03:07, 25 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Refer to my previous edit then, you're describing the former. --Deskana (request backup) 03:07, 25 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Can you please move Goliath (Bible) to Goliath? There wasn't a reason in Gilliam's edit summary why he performed the move on 15 December 2005. Also, "Goliath" redirects to "Goliath (Bible)". That automatically is redundant, isn't it? Thanks for your time! Power level (Dragon Ball) 18:10, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Probably should be moved, but if it already redirects isn't that okay? Cheers! Yuser31415 (Editor review two!) 19:27, 27 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I spent ten minutes trying to work out why my edits didn't show up in the history, before it finally clicked that null edits weren't saved! Template:Emot. It was a joke

I didn't mean anything like baseless accusations at Someguy0830. I just thought it was hilarious at first that there was actually another Someguy out there. But I take back what I said to him. I'll stop joking around like that. Actually, I didn't even think that he'd think negatively of it. I thought he woulda found it funny too. But really, I didn't mean anything personal. Sorry if I upset you about it Deskana. Power level (Dragon Ball) 22:44, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your edit showed no sign of being a joke and Someguy seemed quite annoyed about it. And don't use popups to delete things arbitrarily. --Deskana (request backup) 22:45, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Did anyone ever say that about Linux? :) Yuser31415 (Editor review two!) 23:56, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Linux is far superior to Windows in all but one way- Windows is dominant in the market. That means all major software developers develop for Windows, which means it stays dominant. A lot of my software can't be used on Linux, and I'll probably be using my PC less. I love Linux, and it's better than Windows, but unfortunately it isn't Windows. --Deskana (request backup) 00:02, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This isn't a joke or a baseless accusation this time, this is serious. 69.86.129.29 has edited pages that User:Zarbon (and his sockpuppets) once edited. Here is the explanation: this anon IP just so happened to start editing at List of Freeza related characters, then Action figure, then the person wrongfully yet purposely tagged Image:Ryan Giggs action figure.jpg with a {{ifd}} possibly because the image was released into Creative Commons (yet he still wanted it deleted) and have Image:Zarbonbanpresto.JPG (Zarbon's image) take place of the Giggs image[2]. I've already said why the Soccer image is more popular than some toy named Zarbon on the edit summaries of the Action figure history.

Anyways, I don't see a very good enough reason to tag the IP as a possible sock or meat puppet of Zarbon's as of yet. But, let's just keep an eye on the person if the user continues to insist that the Zarbon image stays, shall we? By the way, is there something I've said wrong or wierd here? Sorry if I did, I tried to explain everything the best I can... Power level (Dragon Ball) 04:25, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi PLDB. Is there anything I can do? If this needs fast action then please head to WP:ANI. Cheers. Yuser31415 (Editor review two!) 04:39, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It's not that it needs fast action. If ya want, you could report the anon IP user but I'm curious to see what Deskana has to say. Like you always say, "Cheers!" Power level (Dragon Ball) 04:42, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I won't bother reporting ATM. It's possible the IP is just a good-faith user editing. However, his or her behavior so far has not been that of which I would have expected from a completely new user - knowing how to use the IFD tag, for example. Yuser31415 (Editor review two!) 04:52, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Of course. Especially since the person wanted the Soccer player image speedily deleted and wanted to keep Zarbon's image on the Action figure article at all costs. That raises questions, doesn't it? Also, what's "ATM"? Power level (Dragon Ball) 05:03, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
ATM is internet slang for At The Moment. :P Yuser31415 (Editor review two!) 05:19, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Cool. I thought it stood for something like "At This Minute". It could mean that too, right? Power level (Dragon Ball) 05:25, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, they pretty much mean the same thing. Yuser31415 (Editor review two!) 05:30, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, in case you are wondering, that IP is not a current sockpuppet of Zarbon. I've been doing a bit of (very simple) detective work. Yuser31415 (Editor review two!) 05:45, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The IP last edited on February 1, 2007. Zarbon's IPs change within 24h. So, therefore, if the IP really is Zarbon, then his IP has changed long since; otherwise, it's probably just a well-meaning contributor trying to learn the ropes. Cheers! Yuser31415 (Editor review two!) 05:56, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I doubt that. The IP wanted the Ryan Giggs image speedily deleted so the Zarbon toy image take precedence instead. I can't help but wonder, how does Zarbon get all of these IP's to do his dirty work for him? It doesn't make sense. Does one have to hack into computers to steal their IP addresses or somethin'? Power level (Dragon Ball) 13:52, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

He's not acting like Zarbon. Knowing how to use {{ifd}} is one thing, but the user crucially forgot to list it on todays IfD page, thus meaning they don't really know what they're doing. No action is necessary. plus, he's not edited any Zarbon-like pages. --Deskana (request backup) 14:50, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Strange Behavior...

Again, this is not a baseless accusation, its just that this edit by a newcomer, 222.153.68.65, at Action figure just keeps raising questions in my head. It took me awhile to learn how to do the undo revision trick and yet this newcomer into the encyclopedia learned it (or somehow already knew how to do it) and, coincedentally, this person just so happened to also want the Zarbon toy image to stay instead of the Ryan Giggs toy without even giving a reason. Deskana, what can you make of this? Do you need more proof? Power level (Dragon Ball) 19:12, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I just realized that it wasn't an undo revision, it was a perfect: Reverted edits by Power level (Dragon Ball). I know, you must be thinking, "huh"... Power level (Dragon Ball) 19:16, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Looks really suspicious to me, but not much point in blocking. Yuser31415 (Editor review two!) 20:03, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If you think it's Zarbon, the best thing to do would be to go to WP:RFCU. I think that Zarbon was blocked recently enough for a check to take place. I'd block him just for being Zarbon, since we have a de-facto ban on him. --Deskana (request backup) 19:12, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Very well. I guess I have no choice but to force myself to learn CheckUser (again). Be right back then, I gotta eat dinner... Oh! By the way, see User talk:SUIT#Action figure for comment. Power level (Dragon Ball) 03:45, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
What do you make of this? Is this revenge for when I warned 219.88.183.189 about 3rr, because it sure sounds like it. I'm still unsure whether I should use CheckUser or not. I guess I'll just keep an eye on the person. But really, someone who had just created an account moments before reverting me and then warning me so perfectly really bugs me. Doesn't it bother you too? Perhaps tagging the new user as a possible sock of that anon IP seems appropiate here. Mind if I do? Power level (Dragon Ball) 05:06, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Did I do it right?: link Power level (Dragon Ball) 05:36, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hey Deskana! Thanks for blocking those worthless socks and meat puppets. I tagged all the right users as possible/confirmed socks which link to User:Recoome. Now I'll be keeping a closer eye on Recoome because I'm beginning to suspect that it actually is the evil mastermind User:Zarbon. I mean, who else do ya think would get obsessed over a Zarbon action figure image to stay on an article by all means on the Action figure article? I mean, really, there aren't that many obsessed Zarbon toy users out there, are there? I'm sure that you'll also keep an eye on Recoome for any more mischievous behaviour, sire? Power level (Dragon Ball) 16:45, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Deskana. That anonymous blocked user GO DBZ blanked his talk page [3]. I just reverted the edit using popups. Could you protect the talk page before he does it again? Thanks! I'll be canvassing User:Recoome's sockpuppets just in case they remove more stuff. Power level (Dragon Ball) 20:02, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Compliments"

I think you're a good administrator, its not fair what people say about you. 4kinnel 18:56, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What made you come to that conclusion, since you have all of four edits? Right now I'm toying with the possibility that you're an editor that I blocked. I'm WP:AGF by not blocking you, but if you can't explain yourself I think I'll just go to WP:RFCU. --Deskana (request backup) 19:11, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think that proves what a nice man you really are.4kinnel 19:51, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Your original statement was clearly sarcastic, and I'm not afraid to block sockpuppets. I suggest you don't keep it up... --Deskana (request backup) 21:09, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Not sure why you are being like that - perhaps you are having fun with me? I think you are the best admin, learn to take a compliment :-) 4kinnel 21:39, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
How do you know Wikipedia has administrators? Furthermore, how did you find my userpage if none of the three pages you've edited I've never edited in my life. Even more, nobody has ever "said anything about me". You're making no sense. And you didn't respond to the sockpuppet accusation like new users do. Oh I wonder why I'm suspicious... --Deskana (request backup) 21:48, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I really don't want to upset you, so I'll leave it there. WP:AGF ;-) 4kinnel 21:55, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, should I attempt a CheckUser on User:4kinnel for you? It seems that this user knew you in the past. Listen Lord Deskana, I may have an idea who it is... Power level (Dragon Ball) 16:49, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Go on then, but bear in mind that you need to state who you think it is first when doing a checkuser. --Deskana (request backup) 16:56, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Crikey! All this for telling you you are a good Admin! Isn't that really an abuse of CheckUser? If I've done something wrong, please explain it to me. 4kinnel 18:50, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You're a new user, how do you even know what checkuser is, never mind whether it's abusive or not. You're not doing this very well. --Deskana (request backup) 19:00, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
because that other bloke said it and I put 'checkuser wikipedia' into Google! Theres an article which explains very well what it means. Why are you being so hodtile to me, what have I done to you or anyone else???4kinnel 19:39, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You know, 4kinnel, we really get suspicious when a user with 4 edits and no interaction with Deskana, comes up and says "You're a good administrator, its not fair what people say about you." I'd say the same thing, but perhaps you could explain how you found him. Cheers, Yuser31415 (Editor review two!) 20:16, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yep I followed a link to his user page from the Daz Sampson talk page and skim read through the archive. I thought that although he seemed to get a lot of a abuse he was fair but firm. After this experience I don't know what to think. I really am not going to continue this conversation, I know I've done nothing wrong but I seem to have been subjected to a volley of abuse by him.4kinnel 20:27, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, considering the fact that this was added to my page only minutes before a rant from a sockpuppet of a banned user, and considering what (supposedly) "people say about me", AND considering you posted this here when I was blocking a load of meatpuppets/sockpuppets of another user, is it any wonder that I'm suspicious of little things? If you're telling the truth, you're the only case out of a billion times that a new user has said something like that on my talk page without being a sockpuppet. I'm sorry if I'm wrong, but I don't think I am. I can't prove anything either. I'm not going to stop you from editing if you'd like to prove what you've said. --Deskana (request backup) 20:57, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, have I understood you correctly? Are you saying that unless I come up with some sort of evidence that proves to your satisfaction that I've not done something wrong then you are going to ban me? This is turning into some sort of Orwellian nightmare... 4kinnel 21:14, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No, Deskana is not saying that. Go have some fun editing :). Yuser31415 (Editor review two!) 22:35, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Exactly. Go edit. Enjoy. --Deskana (request backup) 22:39, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Uh-oh... it seems that User:Recoome is fighting back once again!

This IP was just blanking the userpages of confirmed sockpuppets of User:Recoome. I'll try using vandalproof to undo these edits. I recommend a much longer block for that anon. IP user. I mean, it is quite obvious that Recoome is trying to clear his record, isn't it? Also, could you fully protect the userpages after I successfully revert the edits? Thanks, you're the best! Power level (Dragon Ball) 17:50, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I began a Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Case/Recoome to help confirm that the IP really is evading Recoome's block. Power level (Dragon Ball) 18:17, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hey Deskana. It's been confirmed. I can't believe that dense idiot Recoome did exactly the opposite of what you and I told him not to do anymore. But to my surprise, he created two more sockpuppets that were caught by CheckUser. Really, have you ever known anyone to be such a dick? My recommendation: he should be blocked indefinitely instead of having his block increased to a month or somethin'. People like that don't change no matter what you do... Power level (Dragon Ball) 20:07, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Also, could you fully protect the user pages and talk pages of his blocked indef. sockpuppets, meatpuppets, etc., but make sure they have been tagged properly by me before you fully protect them? Thanks! Power level (Dragon Ball) 20:09, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not entirely sure when Deskana's logging on next :). If I were you, I'd take this to WP:ANI, just in case. Yuser31415 21:18, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hurry Deskana, that fool Recoome's block has ended. Do something!!! ... ... ... Power level (Dragon Ball) 06:08, 13 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not up at 6 in the morning PL! And since I'm about to go out to a club that has a free bar for an hour (!!!) and will likely be absolutely hammered when I get back, I suggest going to WP:ANI. --Deskana (request backup) 21:08, 13 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Have fun at the club! I'll leave User:Recoome to you since I don't care about that jerk anymore... Power level (Dragon Ball) 23:06, 13 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't attack him, per say. I was actually reffering to the rule m:Don't be a dick, as Recoome was breaking all the way while creating his socks. I admit that I was a bit harsh, but that was because he kept creating socks during his block to remove sock templates for him. Also, I was, in actuallity, trying to comment on his actions and saying that he was "acting" like a jerk and all. I didn't really mean that he "is" a dick, jerk, etc., but it was his actions that lead to total dismay because of his redundancy. Ya know, I never call people such things because deep down, I would never want to be called that either. It's pretty much the same as saying to Recoome: "Hey Recoome, don't be a dick." Or even "Recoome, don't be dense!" I just wanted to point that out to you and, to clarify, that's what I really meant to say to him. Power level (Dragon Ball) 18:53, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I can't help but wonder, why didn't you extend his block after he created two more socks? Power level (Dragon Ball) 18:57, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Why didn't Deskana extend your block when you created two more socks? You had quite a few, from the looks of things. At least you've stopped. Yuser31415 00:52, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I can explain that Yuser: I created those worthless socks before I repented on my actions. I was the one that actually admitted and confessed that I created them when I was asking Deskana for a new start. Deskana understood what I was doing and forgave me so there wasn't a new to block me for confessing on my actions. But I never did what Recoome did so stupidly; he kept creating more puppets and used an anon. IP to edit for him while he was still banned. That, I admit, had pondered about doing in the past when I was blocked by Deskana, but thought twice before doing so. I know that we're allowed to have multiple accounts on Wikipedia but we can't use them to evade blocks/bans, etc., am I right you guys? But really, it bothers me that Deskana didn't extend his block according to this after it was confirmed that he was still evading with User:PLDB and User:Yay for you and me. Deskana, can you shed some light on why you didn't do it at least? I did ask an administrator to do it, but he didn't want to get involved in it (or somethin')... Power level (Dragon Ball) 04:03, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hello. Are you there? Been meaning to ask you something... Power level (Dragon Ball) 19:00, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes? --Deskana (request backup) 19:14, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You never answered my question: why didn't you extend Recoome's block when you found out that he created two more socks (one of the was PLDB - go figure!) and the accounts began editing the encyclopdedia while Recoome's block didn't end? Did you forget? Power level (Dragon Ball) 20:39, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That is my call and I don't appreciate being repeatedly asked the question. There have been no further edits to Action figure so I saw no need to extend the block. --Deskana (request backup) 21:34, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Happy Valentine's Day, man!

Konban-wa, Deskana-san! It seems that no one on Wikipedia has sent you a message wishing you a happy Valentine's Day, so let me be the first to do so, even though it's already over. Happy Valentine's Day! Your hard work here as an administrator, and as a contributor in general, is well-appreciated and has not gone unnoticed. Keep up the excellent work! // PoeticDecay 03:19, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Dragon Ball pages

I will try to get everyone in the WikiProject to start fixing Son Goku's page this weekend so we can finally raise it to a Good article classification, do you recomend that the page be placed under semi-protection while the edits are being made to avoid vandals from making our work slower? If we manage to reach our goal sucessfully I will propose the same for Freeza. Thanks for your time. -Dark Dragon Flame 23:52, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Um DDF, remember to read the Semi-protection policy. It basically states that semi-protection should not be used "As a preemptive measure against vandalism before any vandalism has occurred." Just a note. Cheers, and good luck editing :P. Yuser31415 04:06, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed with Yuser. --Deskana (request backup) 22:18, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dragonball Wiki

  • Hi there. I noticed you're a member of Wikiproject Dragonball, and I'm trying to recruit some people from that to contribute to the Dragon Ball Wiki. It's in terrible shape right now with pretty much no consistency or policies, and only this week have I been able to get Angela and Sannse to create some Forums for us over there. I've got a proposed Manual of Style going over there and would like some people to contribute to that to set up some policies and start making the wiki bigger, better, and more intelligible/consistent. If you're interested, please hop on over or talk to me. Thanks for the time, whether you're interested or not. Wildyoda 02:26, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If I may also comment, he says that I (Power level) am a "keeper" of main articles yet he, redundantly, redirects every single Dragon Ball character who makes at least a movie appearance to a list of characters, regardless if their main article is in good shape or not. He has been told time after time that although the character is brief in the series, the character may have the right to warrant a main article if there is enough information to write about them. Know what I mean? He, for some reason, redirects all of these articles without discussing them and I (and other DBZ fans) disagree with his actions. He needs to be notified of this Deskana, as soon as possible. Power level (Dragon Ball) 20:10, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You think after being through this around five times now, you would get it already. The rest of those characters have been merged. Those are the last three. I brought it up on the talk page to see if there were any legitimate complaints besides WP:ILIKEIT. There weren't. This is nothing new. You're just using a form of WikiLawyering (at least by my definition) to keep this going. There has been plenty of time for others to chime in by now. People have edited the project page without commenting. That shows they don't care.
Nobody besides you seems to care, so can you just let it go already? (Sorry for invading your talk page.) Nemu 20:24, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Before I can take action, Power Level, I need diffs supporting your statements. I cannot take action without them, as I simply do not have the time to research your claims. I hope you can provide them for me. Thanks. --Deskana (request backup) 20:31, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I was just clicking my way though, reading up on this dispute. Here are some diffs:
My outside, though educated perspective on this dispute is: While the articles in question are rather certainly non-notable, even from a Dragon Ball perspective, TNN ought to have proposed deletion for the articles rather than unilaterally overwriting them with a redirect. –Gunslinger47 21:21, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Gunslinger. So ya see Deskana? You have all the evidence you needed to see about Nemu's irritating behaviour. Power level (Dragon Ball) 23:52, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Brandt article

You're correct, I'd forgotten about the GFDL matter. On second thought, I'm not going to make any more changes to the article as I suspect this is going to flare up into yet another unproductive Wikipedia shitstorm. Bumm13 16:01, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
