Move to (Article) space

Dhar Mann's page has been salted for now; however, it seems like with the recent write up in the NYT Style Section and another article about him in the NYT that might meet the WP:BIO standards for notability. Here are the articles:

snood1205(Say Hi! (talk)) 20:31, 23 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi snood1205, the article at the time of your writing had very poor sourcing, definitely not suitable for main space in that shape. I'm in the process of rewriting it if you are interested in helping out. Aranya (talk) 18:03, 3 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Aranya:, I definitely agree with you that the article in its current form is not eligible to be moved to main space. I can take a bit of time to work on it over the week to make it more acceptable for article space. snood1205(Say Hi! (talk)) 21:01, 8 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sources

I noticed some of these sources may not fit policy or reliability as they come straight from the subjects Twitter and Youtube. Better sources need to be found or the information should be removed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gandalf the Groovy (talkcontribs) 17:36, 15 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Gandalf the Groovy: so the YouTube reference is automatically created by {{Infobox YouTube channel}} to source the subscribers and total views. The tweet is only used to source his date of birth in accordance with WP:DOB (part of WP:BLP). He announced his birthday on one of his very public, personal accounts, so it's definitely allowed according to policy. Aranya (talk) 18:26, 15 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Dhar Mann's name?

In the introduction his name is introduced as being "Dhar mann", yet in his infobox and early life, his given name is Dharminder Mann. Did he ever change his name? Howardcorn33 (talk) 10:42, 21 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Howardcorn33: I think some of the cited news articles use the longer first name, while most others use the short name. The shorter one is the most common name at the moment and the one he uses, so this article mainly uses that. If you can find a reliable source that discusses a name change he might have had, we can then include that info. Bridget (talk) 17:08, 14 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Tysska: you removed information about weGrow and his past legal issues in the lead, saying it "violates WP:NPOV" and "should not be duplicated" since its coverage in the article body is sufficient. Could you explain to me what part of the text you removed violates that policy? Not only is there any extensive amount of coverage of these events that is focused on Mann [1][2][3], but recent articles, notably the 2021 New York Times feature on him, also discuss these events. Bridget (talk) 16:18, 14 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hey @Bridget:, I referred to the fact that the information is duplicated and for a simple reader it would create some discomfort when reading the article, so they were not even referenced. If I made a mistake somewhere, I am open for constructive discussions.--Tysska (talk) 16:46, 14 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
According to MOS:LEAD, "The lead should stand on its own as a concise overview of the article's topic. It should identify the topic, establish context, explain why the topic is notable, and summarize the most important points, including any prominent controversies." For reasons I mentioned above, his past activities are significant enough to be briefly mentioned in the lead.
Also, if we weren't interested in summarizing the information in the lead, why add the YouTube statistics to the lead when they are already mentioned in the infobox within the Dhar Mann Studios section? Bridget (talk) 16:55, 14 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I focused on a series of articles (some of which are exemplified in the description) where information about the YouTube channel is included at the beginning of the article. But as I do not have an interest and do not want to arouse a conflict of interests, I transferred the information to the subsection Dhar Mann Studios. Tysska (talk) 17:18, 14 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure we can point to other articles to justify the information's inclusion. For Mann, the status for his YouTube channel that is apparently ranked 113th in subscribers is not pertinent to his biography and would probably be more appropriate for the lead of an article on Dhar Mann Studios. Would you be opposed to restoring his past activities to the lead and moving the statistics to the section on his channel? Bridget (talk) 17:50, 14 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not against these changes, if I'm still wrong somewhere, you can restore the text from the beginning of the article. Tysska (talk) 18:12, 14 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

YT Subscriber Count Error

Youtube subscriber count for as of now (27/10/2022 SGT) is 16.6mil. (Say it on Social Blade) Not 15.8m, my friend. Thanks. - Mrsangjunboon08e (talk) 03:33, 27 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

So, I clicked on the link and it doesn't go to where I expected, is that link correct? Jake (talk) 17:58, 17 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Jake, I just made an update in this edit since it seems the channel URL has changed. Does it work for you now? Bridget (talk) 18:09, 17 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Bridget, yes that's working now. Jake (talk) 19:11, 17 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
