History and Governance

Philomath University was established in 2021 and received its license from the National Universities Commission that same year. [2] With the establishment of the Faculty of Law and Faculty of Management and Social Science, academic activities started with just four students. In June 2022, Professor Gylych Jelilov was appointed as the Vice Chancellor of the University with Mr Yasar Aktekin as its Registrar. [3]

News

The Registrar of the university, Mr. Yassar Aktekin, gave a statement saying that the scholarship award offered to prospective students would cover up to 50 percent of school fees. Quoting the Vice Chancellor, "The vision of the university is to be internationally recognized as a university with a global perspective that educates leaders who will fashion a more humane and just world through teaching, learning, transformational scholarship, and dynamic leadership." [4]

Philomath University named a road project within the university campus to immortalize the late mother of the FCT Minister of State, Hajiya Zainab Sidi Ali, for her contribution to the development of learning and humanity. [5][6]
