Malaysia Airlines Kargo (Malaysia Airlines Cargo Sdn. Bhd.) is a cargo airline based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It is the cargo division of Malaysia Airlines and commercially known as MASkargo. It operates scheduled and charter services. Its main base is the Advanced Cargo Center in Kuala Lumpur International Airport.[1] Its tagline is Your Preferred Air Cargo Partner.

History

MASkargo was established and started operations in 1972. It became a subsidiary of Malaysia Airlines in April 1997 with two Boeing 747-200F freighters from the parent company. It has 1,092 employees (as at March 2007).[1]

MASkargo currently provides freighter services from Kuala Lumpur and Penang using Boeing 747-200SF and Boeing 747-400F freighter aircraft, to:

As of March 2007 MASkargo has three Boeing 747-200F aircraft in its fleet.[1]

MASkargo operates from Advanced Cargo Center in KL International Airport using two owned Boeing 747-400F and four leased Boeing 747-200SF aircraft. [citation needed]It also offers belly space capacity on its holding company aircraft, Malaysia Airlines.

Technology and Tracking Systems

In order to speed up shipments, various policies and state of the art system are used by MASkargo such as

  • E-Freight Programme
  • Air Cargo Exchange Information System
  • E-Commerce

Sophisticated shipments tracking system is provided in MASkargo website in order for customers to know the status of their respective shipments.

i-Port

MASkargo recently embarked on an ambitious project called i-Port, with a concept of "an airport within a seaport". MASkargo jointly with Port Klang promoted Port Klang/KLIA as the load-centre for sea and air traffic for the region. This project has expanded rapidly from one seaport to four seaport partnerships including Northport, Westport, Port of Tanjung Pelepas and Kuantan Port.

Animal Hotel

MasKargo provides a pet sitting service called "Animal Hotel".
