== Screenwriting Software Deletion ==
I know that the screenwriting software articles weren't great, but did they have to be deleted entirely? As someone mentioned, the Final Draft article WAS good at some point ... before it good cleansed of criticism, and after the initial 'marketting' spiel.

It may not seem important for those not involved in Screenwriting, but it is quite interesting to see the way the software packages compare as examples of niche software - the way the Movie Magic & Final Draft were 'the big 2' until newer upstarts like Celtx & Sophocles started eating away at their market share.

Page Deleted

Hi Jim. I was surprised that you deleted the Page for WikiJob. This page just stated the facts - what the website is. Is this not allowed? Could you please explain? Redsuperted (talk) 18:21, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

OK Jim - Please check my improvements - I can add more references if required!! ...also - our web address www . wikijob . co . uk has been blacklisted on wikipedia. Is there any way I can de-black list it? I appreicate your help and support - really. I love wikipedia - the reason I made a wiki site! - and want a page on here more than anything! Yours Redsuperted (talk) 19:04, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thats useful Jim thanks - I will no longer input links to wikijob because of the COI. However - can you tell me how I can go about returning the wikijob link to normal. It is blacklisted... how can I appeal this for the benefit of others? Redsuperted (talk) 19:48, 13 April 2008 (UTC) Redsuperted (talk) 19:49, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Jim I just saw you deleted the WikiJob page again even though I just spent an hour making it abide by every rule in the wikipedia rule book! Is it not possible for WikiJob to even have a page? That was a very well written page - what will happen now?! Thanks for your help - please explain.... Redsuperted (talk) 19:52, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Page Deleted

Hi Jim. I recently wrote a page about the Board of Certification and it was deleted on Friday. I was curious as to what I could do to improve this page. I would like something posted on Wikipedia about this topic, and I am a new user looking for suggestions. Thanks! Nmallie (talk) 15:06, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You may use warning templates

Hi Jim. Just a friendly reminder, when you warn a user, you may use user warning templates. They are a lot quicker than just typing out warnings. It saves a lot of time, and it won't be so exhausting. I have noticed that in your recent warnings to User talk:LowLester, and User talk:Westvoja. Also, don't forget to use edit summary's on your edits. Because vandals don't use edit summary's, which makes it very clear to spot on the recent changes. Just a friendly reminder. Take care. Hi there. You deleted the subject's article earlier today according to the logs. I just wanted to let you know that an Afd on the subject had (just) opened here, I went ahead and did a nonadmin close. Take care, Xymmax (talk) 15:25, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please restore page and EDIT what you think is a pitch. Completely deleting the page is not respectful; for example, the table is located on other school sites and should have been left alone. The accreditation info is factual as it other info. Thanks, Ed

Taft family

I can't figure out what happened with the Taft family page. You have left a note that it was "blatant advertising"? The Taft family is an important political family in Ohio and the United States and there were dozens of prominent historical, political, religious, and business figures linked together on that page. 149.79.35.227 (talk) 17:46, 28 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

deletion of burda:ic entry

Hi there,

you have deleted burda:ic because of blatant advertising as i see in the logs. Where was there so much advertising? It contained less adv then blizzard entertainment. The Burda:ic article was just explaining a short info about the corporation itself and had small infos about theyr games. Nothing else is blizzard ent. doing, but theyr page is not going to be deleted?

RE:User

I don't know if it's vandalism or not, that's why I consulted you. But, the image use is not allowed. Non free media is not allowed on the users page with out a fair use rationale describing why it's there. Also, the use of the complete article for one's user page should not be allowed due to the simple fact that the user is not the person he is saying he is when he copies that information to his userpage. Dear Sir, U have deleted my page S. R. Govt College for Women, Amritsar for being the adverisement, but that was actually not the case. Unspecified source for Image:Beissaoryx3a.JPG

Thanks for uploading Image:Beissaoryx3a.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 21:33, 31 March 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 21:33, 31 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jim, I am trying to create a Moving Arts Dance Wikipedia... students often request info from us for school articles so this seems like a great solution (objectified by the public forum).

You deleted it as "blatant adertising". Would you please specify? I will delete whatever material is offending this criteria. I did try to include lots of references, and based this page on other similar wikipedia articles (but obviously not closely enough). Just let me know what to delete so that it is not advertising (we have nothing to sell).

I saw a mention that bios of living persons are not acceptable as an article, should I delete that from the Moving Arts Dance page as well. And probably not even mention classes? Although part of what is unusual is that we are creating a new philosophy in the blending of a professional dance company in a community environment in order to develop dance in the entire region.

I can rewrite everything if needed. We will do whatever is necessary. Please help me understand the advertising guidelines. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Movingarts (talkcontribs) 17:31, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please take a look at this and check the new user who posted. I'm a bit suspiscious of sock puppets working on this one. Also, if you would want, voice your opinion on the AfD. It's not going anywhere and that is partly due to what I think of as a sock puppet. (the user in question has done very little edits, and has already got involved on an AfD with the same basis to keep the article as a user who had posted before) Undeath (talk) 22:34, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of Lava Studio

Hi Jimfbleak,

I noticed that you deleted the page linked in the title without citing a reason. I had declined an A7 speedy based on what I saw as a claim to notability in the article--did you delete it because you disagreed? I know I'm probably erring on the side of caution (I've had two of my declines questioned at the subsequent AfDs so far, although further discussion supported the decision in both cases), so any insight or advice you can give to a new admin would be appreciated! --jonny-mt 08:29, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

you deleted my page in less than a minute when it was created and all information was lost. Create-protecting pages

Hey there... just a friendly reminder... when you protect pages from creation using {{pp-create}}, don't slap it onto the page and create it, that was the ancient bootleg method of doing things. Now, you can salt the nonexistent page by hitting the "protect" tab after you delete it, and put {{pp-create}} in the "reason" field. I fixed a few pages you protected wrong, could you please go through and get the rest? east.718 at 18:59, April 3, 2008

After you delete the page, you have to go back to the nonexistent page. There'll be a protect tab there with a familiar interface. You can use any reason you want, but I prefer the fancy template because of some interface magic that happens if you do. east.718 at 17:20, April 4, 2008

Deletion of GuitarPort

Hello Jim,

I am asking you to please leave my article up until Friday. That is when this assignment is due. I did not take the article directly from a website and I had to include enough information on the object to cover the world limit. That is why the article seems to be promoting GuitarPort. I know there are no references and the article is not Wikipedia worthy, but I am asking you to do me favour and please just delete it on Friday and you will never hear from me or see another GuitarPort article written by me again.

Thanks

Some artistic bird pictures.

Dunno if you are aware of these Von Wright images on commons, but i personally happen to think they are very cool. (But then, I am most definitely biased, since I learned the names of all the birds in the book before I learned to talk in sentences, by these self same images.) -- Cimon Avaro; on a pogostick. Nemo problemo, I saw that they aren't linked very well into the Aves category on commons. Most likely partly because the artist is known as both an ornithologist and a painter, though being Swedish the use of "fåglar" rather than birds in the title may play a part, too. -- Cimon Avaro; on a pogostick. Deletion of SEMBA, method for Business Analysis

In your comment on the article on SEMBA as a method for Business Analysis, you judged the article on being advertising and even suspected me of illegal use of copyrights. As I am new to this medium I am just triing to understand. First the copyright thing: I did not even get the chance to upload the mentioned picture, you already deleted the article within 30 seconds so it seemed. Second you judged the article as being advertising while it is a method which is to be given to the Open Group, so that everyone who is interested is able to use it when desired. Publication on Wikipedia was meant to give background information on the method in order to share the content. Can you give me specific feedback on the parts you think need to be changed to have this article published?

Deletion of ScriptWright entry

You were the admin that confirmed the speedy deletion flag on the page I created about my screenplay software.

It is certainly true that this page was a description of my product. But it was no more blatant advertising that than that found in the wiki for Final Draft, Sophocles, Scriptware and all the other programs for screenplay creation.

However, if you consider my page spam and inappropriate to wiki, then someone should examine ALL of the entries found under screenwriting software and list of screenwriting software.

I think it unfair that my page has been removed and these remain. They are no more encyclopedic than was mine.

Thanks. GGallo (talk) 16:54, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Do you know anybody in the Private space industry? Of course not - if you did you wouldn't have deleted my entry. List of screenwriting software

I think you'll find that on the pages List of screenwriting software and Screenwriting software contain links to pages about many more than three software programs, and that all of them -- to one degree or another -- fail to rise to the level of encyclopedic. They are all descriptions of the programs, complete with screen shots, of the sort you would find on a file download aggregator.

I count 12.

Some have been deleted previously as "spam magnets." Some links don't even bother going to a wiki page, but jump directly to the external site.

Some are listed as part of the WikiProject:Films.

My point isn't that they must be deleted, just that if one such semi informative/semi promotional page is considered spam then they all should be. And if one is allowed then they all shuld be.

If they are allowed IF they are posted by a WikiProject:Films contributor, then that tag should be added rather than nuking it.

Thanks for looking into it. I can imagine it's hard to police such borderline cases. I stumbled on the list of all my competitors on Wiki from a legitimate article about film format. I felt my contribution to this field should be noted. Perhaps I can find a way to do so that falls within the guidelines. I'll study more what happens to these pages in coming weeks before (if) I try again.

Red-billed Chough

Congrats on the FA. Just a thought, now that the article is sitting at Red-billed Chough, wouldn't it make sense to have the article Pyrrhocorax sitting in the article space Chough (which is currently just a redirect?

Also, regarding the formatting of refs at Cattle Egret, I have to admit that is probably my fault. I loathe the cite template passionately because it is cumbersome and time consuming to add, and while I try to format the refs consistently I've never quite understood the importance of ndash's. No worries about the rant, thanks for your support. I was wondering if you could do another move (I'm not there yet) Oriolidae back to oriole and the genus to Oriolus? List of screenwriting software - Delete review

Hi Jim. Looks like you removed a lot of pages linked to from the List of screenwriting software and Screenwriting software pages at the urging of GGallo. To be honest, I think he was just angry that his own page got pulled... the pages that were listed before were incredibly useful.

IMHO, the top screenwriting software tools in order are: Final Draft, Movie Magic, Celtx, and Montage, so it looks like you deleted the top two. Can we re-instate those?

For full disclosure, I worked on a product that was not deleted, so my goal in this is to maintain the integrity and utility of Wikipedia for budding screenwriters, nothing more. --Orionr (talk) 20:27, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

ATN

Hi. I've added 3 external links on ATN page. Are they OK? Also, i've deleted pictures, because Fountains of Bryn Mawr (talk) did not like them.
Can you tell me your opinion? --YGelfman (talk) 10:28, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RE: List of screenwriting software - Delete review

In that case, it does sound like deleting the Final Draft and Movie Magic articles was the right thing to do. Unfortunately it means that they were poor articles to begin with, but I could have sworn the Final Draft was good at one point... In the meantime, I'll switch those links to point to external sources. By the way, is there a way for a normal user (me) to look at old revisions of a deleted article? Thanks for following up. --Orionr (talk) 17:33, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Jim - I'll take a stab at cleaning up the Final Draft article. --Orionr (talk) 20:35, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Identification

Do you known what this large bird with long curved beak is? Photo in Patagonia, Chili. Snowman (talk) 10:34, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your reply on my user page identifying it as a Black-faced Ibis. I have uploaded it to commons at Image:Black-faced Ibis (Theristicus melanopis) -Patagonia.JPG. --Snowman (talk) 11:58, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Screenwriting Software Deletion

I know that the screenwriting software articles weren't great, but did they have to be deleted entirely? As someone mentioned, the Final Draft article WAS good at some point ... before it good cleansed of criticism, and after the initial 'marketting' spiel.

It may not seem important for those not involved in Screenwriting, but it is quite interesting to see the way the software packages compare as examples of niche software - the way the Movie Magic & Final Draft were 'the big 2' until newer upstarts like Celtx & Sophocles started eating away at their market share.
