Trinity Place is a quarter-mile north-south thoroughfare in downtown Manhattan in New York City. It passes the west side of Trinity Church, a historic gothic-style cathedral. Trinity Place begins at the Edgar Street exit of the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, and officially terminates at Liberty Street, though its route continues - uninterrupted - as Church Street, ending at Canal Street by forming a "T". The Trinity Place/Church Street name-change occurs at the southeast base of the former World Trade Center (the northernmost edge of Trinity Place was severely damaged in the September 11th terrorist attacks on the WTC). Also, Trinity Place passes under the Trinity Place Bridge. Completed in 1989, the Trinity Place Bridge is a private elevated walkway connecting the Trinity Church to its parish house. The bridge is not an official New York City landmark; Trinity Church is.
