Jennifer Lopez concert chronology

The Dance Again World Tour (also referred to as simply Dance Again) is the debut headlining concert tour by American recording artist Jennifer Lopez. The tour began on June 14, 2012 in Panamá and will travel across South America.

Background

In March 2012, it was announced that Lopez would headline two popular music festivals in Brazil.[1] While promoting the announcement, the singer mentioned she would like to venture onto a world tour "at some point". Following the announcement, music publication Billboard reported Lopez was in talks to conduct a co-headlining tour with Enrique Iglesias.[2] The rumors became official as Lopez announced the joint tour on "On Air with Ryan Seacrest", April 30, 2012.[3] In 2007, the singer toured with estranged husband Marc Anthony for her first joint tour. Further details reveal famed tour director Jamie King will direct the show alongside Lopez's current boyfriend Casper Smart.[4] Lopez's Dance Again Tour started before this tour, and will resume after her co-headlining tour with Iglesias in North America.

Development

Zuhair Murad sketches for the tour

Lebanese designer Zuhair Murad designed tour costumes for Lopez.[5] Lopez has been a fan of Murad's creations, having worn them to various red carpet occasions and as her role as judge on American Idol.[6] Murad unveiled two designs for the tour on June 12; the before-and-after sketches featured an elaborate red robe over the top of a shimmering red dress.[7] Overall Murad created six new looks for Lopez's show. This included the elaborate red robe and a plunging catsuit which Sarah Bull of Daily Mail said clung to her figure, a feathered skirt and hat, a jumpsuit and two capes among other looks.[6][8] Bull commented that the skintight catsuit "bursts of diamantes to conceal her modesty."[8]

Concert synopsis

The show opens with a gaggle of dancing men with top hats as Lopez makes her glamorous entrance, wearing a feathered skirt. She then rips it off, revealing a sparkling nude catsuit, and shouts "Let's get it!" before performing "Get Right".[9]

Critical response

Commenting on one of the shows in Brazil—in which it rained—Ashley Percival from the Huffington Post wrote "Her six-pack was on show for all to see in a glittery crop top and matching harem pants." Percival stated that she "still getting her impressive bod out despite the downpour" and called Lopez a trooper.[10]
