Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Strychnine, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Rind (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Disambiguation

Your edit: (Disambiguated: Vladimir Gessen (disambiguation) → Vladimir Gessen)

We don't to this. Vladimir Gessen (disambiguation) is entered so that bots know that a disambiguation page is linked on purpose. If you enter [[Vladimir Gessen]], the bot will report "Disambiguation link notification".

See WP:HOWTODAB.

Jupiter, Florida

Your edit is still unsourced and will remain reverted without a source that supports it. The existing, cited source mentions the Hobe, but does not mention the Jaega and/or that they are the same tribe, nor does the article at Jaega mention the "Hobe". A link that says "Hobe" but targets Jaega is called an Easter egg and is not permitted here unless it can be shown that they are related (and how). The existence of Hobe Sound without a cited source that says there was a tribe with that name and/or a settlement of Jaega called "Hobe" (and that is not what your edit said) does not support your edit. General Ization Talk 16:14, 10 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Logan Paul

Hi, I saw you changed the Infobox on the Logan Paul article but didn't leave an edit summary. What was your reasoning for making that change? Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 19:35, 18 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. The infobox was broken, so I simply reverted the last change that broke it. If you'd like me to turn the infobox into a Infobox YouTube personality, I'm happy to help. Uncle Roy (talk) 20:40, 18 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, ok, that makes sense. Yes, it would be good if you could convert into a properly formatted Infobox YouTube personality. Thanks for that. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 20:52, 18 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I just went to change it, but then noticed that the existing Infobox person already contains an embedded module for Infobox YouTube personality. This allows the resulting infobox to contain much more information than if we were using Infobox YouTube personality alone. Uncle Roy (talk) 08:46, 19 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Norton

As reviewing administrator, I deleted the article, but as copyvio not promotional. It was indeed somewhat promotional, but easily fixed by changing the language a little. However, like a great many promotional articles, it was essentially a copyvio of their "about" page on their website. -- hard to detect in google ,because it is not a static page but a slide show with text. For anything like this, I normally check the organizations website as well. Copyvio is a much more important and indisputable reason for deletion, and should be used when applicable , often in combination with G11.
Thanks for picking this up. It's been here for many years. A lot of editors have made minor copyedits and the like to it, but never noticed the real problem. My guess is we have between 50,000 and 100,000 similar. DGG ( talk ) 20:44, 29 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for picking up the copyvio. But your deletion rationale was G13: didn't you mean G12? Uncle Roy (talk) 22:00, 29 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Victor Navone Article

Hi Uncle Roy!

I just wanted some clarification in regards to my article on Victor Navone. I did all the research necessary in order to produce accurate information, and I made a conscious effort to reword Victor's own blog bio (which was referenced) in order to make it different enough, but still no stray too far away from the truth of the source. However, my information keeps getting taken down, no matter how many times I reword it. So I just wanted to get in touch with you and clarify what exactly I can do in order to get this information out there as fast as possible. Thank you very much!

--Dceballos (talk) 14:09, 8 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there. You need to write the information in your own words, using a WP:Neutral point of view. Just changing a few words here and there from his own bio page isn't what's needed: please also have a read of WP:Close paraphrasing. Thanks, Uncle Roy (talk) 14:12, 8 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
So you've simply added the copyvio right back in, creating work for me and an admin to get rid of it. I've been trying to rescue this article since you posted it, and now I'm sorry I bothered trying to help. Uncle Roy (talk) 15:21, 8 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of Daniel Janies on May 9

Hi. Thanks for flagging, apparently I didn't have the time to fix his bio before it was completely deleted. Last published version had short part on Education section that was not well rewritten for lack of other possibilities to explicitly say when Dr. Daniel Janies graduated from College. Is it possible to recover deleted page and send to draft so I can address issues? At least 90% of it was not even rewritten, was new writing. Thanks, Darrieux — Preceding unsigned comment added by Darrieux (talkcontribs) 21:27, 9 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Darrieux. Ordinarily, yes: please see Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion. But if there are substantial copyright issues, then some administrators might be reluctant to undelete - you'd need to ask. Uncle Roy (talk) 00:54, 10 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Control copyright icon Hello Uncle Roy, and welcome to Wikipedia. All or some of your addition(s) to United States Tennis Association have been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. However, there are steps that must be taken to verify that license before you do. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 22:48, 10 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Strategic decision making

Please see comments I've left on the Talk page of Strategic decision making and on the Talk page of the article creator. I hate to see new editors discouraged from continuing to contribute to Wikipedia by having a delete notice slapped on their first bit or work. But I do have concerns on this need for this one. Regards Nick Moyes (talk) 09:13, 16 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Well I did wait an hour, and then improved the page a bit before adding the copyedit tag. That's not nit-picking: it really needs wholesale rewriting in places. Thanks for the ping about the talk page. That is a good way to engage a new editor. Uncle Roy (talk) 09:27, 16 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

May 17th Deletion Charles DeBarber

@Uncle Roy: Pardon me if this is the second message I sent, but wiki talk is a bit confusing and I wanted to be sure. I'm not the subject in the article and am a fan of Hunted. I have not met Mr. DeBarber personally, but did watch him speak back in late February or early March. I originally thought he might be a stolen valor situation. I've outed military frauds before, but his FOIA came back in April and he is indeed what he claims to be. I've edited the page to respect the comments previously to include removing sources from WikiLeaks, IMDB, and LinkedIn. I added publicly available records that can be obtained for free via a FOIA request. If you would like a copy of the FOIA request letter and response I can provide that.— Preceding unsigned comment added by ThemLuckyRabbits (talkcontribs)

hello uncle roy, you proposed an article about cryptocurrency for deletion, unfortunately i think you have very less knowledge about cryptocurrencies and havent read any other article before regarding them. You made no valid point why the article should be deleted as there is everything in that article which can be found in other similar articles. Please dont do that again thankyou Uncle Roy (talk) 08:26, 20 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

A1/A3

Just as an FYI: A1 is for articles where you can't tell even via Google what the article is about. Something like: Floorbeenhood: a thing that is blurple. A3 is for things that have no content like Saliya Pieris, since by the fact that it has a name, we can tell it is about a person named Saliya Pieris. We also have a de facto grace period on these articles of 15 minutes before tagging. Gives the creator a chance to write something and doesn't bite them. All the best! TonyBallioni (talk) 16:24, 20 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, the A1 must have been a Twinkle derp - I'm familiar with A1/A3. Also it was an article with the creator account name, which is often what kids do when they first create an account, just to test. It was twelve minutes old when I tagged it, and had thought the customary grace period was ten minutes, but I'll take your word for it: happy to wait fifteen instead. Uncle Roy (talk) 17:12, 20 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Not a problem. The A1/A3 grace period is 15 according to WP:NPP, which is what I go by. Thanks for the work you are doing! TonyBallioni (talk) 17:26, 20 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
