Template:Infobox Chinese-language singer and actor Zhang Jie (born 20 December 1982) also known as Jason Zhang is a Chinese pop singer. Zhang was born in Chengdu,Sichuan, China. Zhang made his debut as the champion of My Show in 2004. In 2005, he released his first album and won the Recommended annual media award by means of the signature song, Love Of The Plough.
In 2007, Zhang participated in Super Boy, which launched his career largely and made him popular with the public. In 2008, Zhang held his first personal concert. Owing to the new album, The Day After Tomorrow, he won Most Popular Male Singer. In 2010,Zhang released his 7th album, It's Love and owned his concert label. On November 28, he won Best Asian Artist in Mnet Asian Music Awards. In the same year, Zhang was invited to attend Boao Forum for Asia as the performing artist. In 2012, Zhang began his first live tour in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. In 2013, Zhang attended CCTV Spring Festival Gala for the first time. In August 2014, Zhang attended the opening ceremony of The 2nd Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing as one of singer of the theme song. On November 24, Zhang won "Best International Artist" in 46th American Music Awards. In April 2016, Zhang set up his personal label, Planet Culture. In July, he started his world tour, Sound Of My Heart, the first stop is Beijing Workers' Stadium. In August, Zhang became China film endorser of Star Trek Beyond and released the theme song, Lost In The Stars. On August 18, Zhang attended the film's premiere at Embarcadero Marina Park South. In November, Zhang released the promotion song of Allied, Give You My World. In 2017, Zhang will bring his world tour to the US, Canada, Malaysia, Australia, Italy and UK.
By the end of May 2017, Zhang has recorded 12 albums and held 34 concerts. Zhang has won the Most Popular Male Singer Award 33 times and Best Male Singer 12 times.
Biography
1982–2003: Early life
Zhang was born on the 20th of December, 1982, in Chengdu, Sichuan.
In 2000, Zhang was admitted into Sichuan Normal University.
In 2003, Zhang took part in the "MTV-Samsung Anycall National Singing Competition" and won the second place.
2004–2006: Shang Teng Universal
In 2004, Zhang took part in the 1st season of My Show. After stages of strict selection,he won the annual championship in the finals, with the original song Love of the Plough composed with GOU Wei. Then he signed with Shang Teng Universal.
In 2005, Zhang released his debut album, The First Album. This album earned Zhang numerous newcomer awards e.g. Global Chinese Music Chart Most Popular Male Newcomer award.
In 2006, after the release of his second album, Love Me Again, Zhang's music career was at stake due to changes at the top management of his record company.
2007–2015: EE-Media
In 2007, Zhang decided to take part in Hunan TV's famous show Super Boy and won the 4th place. Zhang, the third runner-up of the show signed a deal with EE-Media and released an EP, The Most Beautiful Sun, in the same year, which significantly marked a fresh restart of his career.
In May 2008, Zhang held his first concert in Beijing at Beijing Exhibition Center. In July, Zhang held his concert at Hangzhou Gymnasium. In October, he released the album, The Day After Tomorrow. With the album's positive performance on charts, he won his first "Most Popular Male Singer (Mainland)" award.
In 2009, by the album The Day After Tomorrow, Zhang gained 11 nominations in Beijing pop music ceremony and became the favorite figure. In November, Zhang released the album, Through Trilogy. On December 19, he held the theme concert as Through Trilogy at Beijing Workers' Gymnasium.
In April 2010, Zhang he attended the Boao Forum for Asia as invited guest to perform two songs of Michael Jackson : Billie Jean and Beat it. In June, he sang the theme song for the movie Triple Tap. In November, he released the 6th album, It's Love. In November, he held a theme concert as It's Love at Beijing Workers' Gymnasium. On November 28, he won the "Best Asian Artist" award in the Mnet Asian Music Awards. In December, he was invited as the only male singer from mainland China to the TVB Golden Melody Awards Ceremony in Hongkong, and received an award top ten golden songs of the year and Most Popular Male Singer (Mainland).
In 2011, Zhang released his next album, Stand Up. In December, he held the theme concert It's Love in his hometown Chengdu.
On March 1 2012, as a invited guest, Zhang represented a collaborative stage of My love on the concert of Westlife. And he started his new touring concerts at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on 5th May and Shanghai Grand Stage on June 30 respectively. On September 29, he released an album called "One Chance" and then on 19th November he released a cover album called Love That We Once Encountered. By the way, in this year, he set up his own studio: Zhang Jie Studio.
In February 2013, for the very first time, he was invited to represent the performance of this song Give Me Your Love with Yoga on CCTV Spring Festival Gala. In June, he went to Berklee College of Music for further studies in the summer. In September, He was invited to the China Tennis Open with famous tennis players: Li Na and Novak Djokovic to stand up for the public welfare work. In November, Zhang released his 10th album, Just Love, and held his 10th concert in Guangzhou.
In January 2014, Zhang joined Hunan Television's I Am a Singer Season 2. From September to December, Zhang held his first live tour, Fight Back For Love, which generated a great response. In August, Zhang was invited to perform the theme song, Light the Future, in the Opening Ceremony of the Nanjing Youth Olympics 2014. In November, Zhang was presented with the International Artist Award at the 2014 American Music Awards, making him the first Chinese singer who has garnered this accolade. In this year, Zhang sang several songs for Chinese operas, and Heart Of Sword for opera Swords Of Legends was a great hit.
In April 2015, he released his collection with Xiaomi in a way of cooperation between Music industry and internet. He also participated in various of talented shows, including some adventure shows, music shows and reality shows. In May, Zhang ended his eight-year contract with EE-Media and made his own studio independent from EE-Media. Meanwhile, Zhang continued winning awards from several music shows this year. At the same time, he still sang for the opera The Lost Tomb and the movie Monk Comes Down The Mountain directed by Kaige Chen.
2016–present: Planet Culture and Linfair Records
On February 7, 2016, Zhang sang the song, Shining Era, in the CCTV Spring Festival Gala.On February 21, the Just For Star concert was held in United Artists Theater, LA. Zhang took charge of the concert and invited David Foster and violinist Lindsey Stirling to perform together. On April 26, Zhang set up his personal label, Planet Culture, and cooperated with Linfair Records. On July 16, Zhang began his first world tour at Beijing Worker's Stadium. On July 21, 2016, Zhang performed Star Trek Beyond's Chinese theme song Lost in the Stars, and attended the film's premiere at Embarcadero Marina Park South. Then, Zhang recorded the promotion song Give You My World for the movie Allied in November. From July to December, Zhang's tour travelled to Beijing, Nanjing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Chengdu, Xi'an, Wuhan, Hefei, Dalian, and Kunming. With each city he visited, audiences have packed out the venues and left rave reviews.
In February 2017, Zhang joined Hunan Television's Singer 2017, as the first previous season contestant to join the competition this season. In May and June, Zhang brought his world tour in the US, Canada, Malaysia and Australia. On May 7, Zhang held his conert in Dolby Theatre, which become the first mainland singer singing in the Dolby Theatre. On May 14, Zhang sang in the Queen Elizabeth Theatre, Vancouver. On May 21, Zhang came to David Geffen Hall, Lincoln Center.
Artistry
Music and voice
Zhang is a tenor with a vocal range of around G2-C6. In recent years, after professional and systematic training, the bass has a deeper extension, and the treble skills are more and more excellent, with an ethereal, penetrating and intrusive metallic texture.

In 2008, after Wenchuan earthquake, Zhang attended fund-raising gala many times to collect money. Meanwhile, he donated ¥200,000 to the disaster area. On April 22, 2010, Zhang donated ¥100,000 to Yushu earthquake area by China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation(CFPA). On December 4, Zhang attended CFPA National public forum.
Music classroom
“张杰音乐梦想教室”是由张杰发起并单独出资200万元作为启动资金在中国人口福利基金会成立的“北斗星空爱心基金”旗下的项目,自2012年10月启动以来,至2016年10月陆续在全国各地设立二十九所“张杰音乐梦想教室”。
2015年1月26日,“张杰音乐梦想教室”公益项目在“2014环球风尚·年度盛典”上获“年度十大风尚榜样奖”[241-242] 。

Personal life
On May 5, 2011, Zhang and Xie Na registered their marriage in Chengdu, China. On September 26, 2011, Zhang and his girlfriend Xie Na married at Shangri-La, China - The Nearest Place to Heaven on Earth. They had a meaningful ceremony there, surrounded by family and their closest friends such as the Happy Family who host the Happy Camp, Nicky Wu, Xiaoshenyang, Bowie Tsang, etc.
