Title

User:203.13.166.18 your proposal of Delhi Riots is not acceptable since 1. This is only happening in NE delhi, 2. there are many many riots over the years in Delhi. We will need to add year in that case. Currently, the media and news are using NE Delhi riots/ NE Delhi clashes/ NE Delhi violence. so we can drop the year. --⋙–DBigXray 14:43, 25 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Background

DBigXray The background need corrections. It was not about Shaheen Bagh, but new protests started 2 days ago, sit-in protest at Jaffrabad Metro Station/Chandbagh/Maujpur. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 So need immediate correction or else its sending a wrong message. Second, cops helping the pro-CAA rioters for stone pelting 6 and brought trucks of stones at the site for starting riots 7 Dey subrata (talk) 14:45, 25 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Dey subrata, check now. I have tried to made a few changes. SBagh protests are used by some sources. ⋙–DBigXray 14:52, 25 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
No it was not for Shaheen Bagh, its totally separate place, better to write "multiple sit-in peaceful protest started". Wait, I am addinng the draft here. Dey subrata (talk) 14:57, 25 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
alright, I have completely removed Shaheen bagh. Dey subrata please check again. Please add content if I missed something. ⋙–DBigXray 15:00, 25 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

What about cops inefficiency and involvements. Reports showing that they could have stopped this before it could have started rather helped the pro-CAA and right wings 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Dey subrata (talk) 19:59, 25 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Complaints

User:Coffeeandcrumbs, In the Indian legal system, Complaint is the first step. As you can see in the inline citation, it notes that 2 complaints were filed. It means that Police has been informed about the incident and a formal police case has been asked to be initiated. Police will then initiate the police case by filing an FIR (report), do the investigation, then file chargesheet and the case will goto court. Hope this helps. I have already clarified this and removed the clarify tag, let me know if you still have questions. --⋙–DBigXray 19:20, 25 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Man who shot at police

Need to add a paragraph on this. [3] [4] [5] [6]Sarvatra (talk, contribs) 21:24, 25 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

In section "Incidents on 24 February" the line Ratan Lal had received head injuries from a stone thrown at him in Gokulpuri. was initial report. But per autopsy report, Constable Ratan Lal died of a bullet injury.[7]Sarvatra (talk, contribs) 21:24, 25 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sarvatra I have included the autopsy report. No RS says the man named Sharukh had killed the cop, so it would be wrong to say that in the article.
ABP says the pistol holding man was in Jafrabad, while Lal died in Gokulpuri. So clearly they are separate incidents.--⋙–DBigXray 21:46, 25 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah those two were separate things, I should have written them in different sections. —Sarvatra (talk, contribs) 21:49, 25 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Sarvatra, another point is wP:DUE. According to doctors treating the injured more than half were bullet wounds. So clearly there are more than one man shooting around. It is obvious why Media houses are putting too much spotlight on one Muslim guy, I am sure he would have been totally ignored had he not been Muslim. In anycase I am trying to say that the fact that a few media houses are giving him a disproportionate amount of coverage, does not mean Wikipedia must do the same. You can refer to international media and how they are covering the incident. ⋙–DBigXray 21:54, 25 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I didn't mean it at all that the arrested man shot the police constable. Like I said, I should have written both the things in different sections, didn't do so in hurry. —Sarvatra (talk, contribs) 22:08, 25 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
As far as It is obvious why Media houses ..... had he not been Muslim is concerned, I prefer to not add my own opinion or analysis to the article I edit. —Sarvatra (talk, contribs) 22:08, 25 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Sarvatra, I was responding to your first line, that "need to add a paragraph on this". The article must follow WP:NPOV. ⋙–DBigXray 22:11, 25 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Not done discussion resumed in the next section. Dey subrata (talk) 03:39, 27 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Shooter at Jafrabad

In the afternoon, a shooter fired eight rounds of bullets indiscriminately and also pointed his pistol at a cop who was trying to confront him. Per altnews, the man was a part of anti-CAA mob and initially was mistaken to be a part of pro-CAA crowd.[1][2] The shooter was later identified by the police was arrested next day after an FIR was registered against him.[3][4][5]

Your concerns were about man shooting the police constable are already taken care of. In my edit, it is clear that "man pointed gun at policeman", and NOT that "it was him who shot the policeman". This is backed up by the sources added. Anything else? —Sarvatra (talk, contribs) 09:20, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Sarvatra, yes, why is this unknown man being singled out with complete disregard to wP:BLPNAME ⋙–DBigXray 09:27, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
He's the only person among all protesters (pro or anti-CAA) who had a gun, and pointed at a police constable, and fired shots using the gun. The name can be dropped. —Sarvatra (talk, contribs) 09:35, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Sarvatra, "He's the only person who had a gun" wow, thats a big claim. source please. ⋙–DBigXray 09:47, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Per reports so far, yes. You have any source for other people brandishing guns at policemen and shooting? —Sarvatra (talk, contribs) 09:51, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
No, it is you who is claiming he is special and deserves a mention in a para. Based on 50% bullet wounds, many were carrying guns and I dont consider him worthy enough of a mention. I would rather cover the deaths and the arson . ⋙–DBigXray 09:54, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

And a man firing shots illegally in front of the police is not relevant? Similar incidents of shooting were also covered in other article about anti-CAA protests. —Sarvatra (talk, contribs) 10:03, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@DBigXray i think the issue here is there is an identifiable perpetrator. The person confronted the police officer, shoved him and shot the bullets into the air perhaps as an act of intimidation. There was no reported injuries to the police officer however.User:UrbanCentrist

Yes, I am totally aware of what he did. Perpetrator of what exactly ? The problem here is, he is of no encyclopedic value to Wikipedia. had he been a brutal murderer for a few people, he probably could have found a mention here. But that is not the case, for now. ⋙–DBigXray 15:40, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@DBigXray The incident can be interpreted that it represents a single identifiable point of escalation of violence.I think when someone reads this article it would be useful information to understand that the event included an armed gunman confronting a police officer — Preceding unsigned comment added by UrbanCentrist (talkcontribs) 16:10, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Please WP:SIGN and WP:INDENT your posts. Interepreted as such by whom ? If an WP:RS says that then we can probably add that. As of now this is of no useful value. Here is a question. Do you think that a gunman confronting a cop is more useful or a cop shot dead ? I would say the latter. regards. ⋙–DBigXray 16:13, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Quoting the India Today article "as tension continued to simmer in Delhi's Jaffrabad and Maujpur areas a day after clashes, a youth opened fire on the streets on Monday afternoon in the same area while the police tried to control him.A man was seen pointing his country-made pistol at the police personnel on the Jaffrabad-Maujpur road. The man fired 8 rounds before the police overpowered him. He was later identified as Shahrukh, a local." I think a cop being shot dead and gunman confronting a cop are both useful information. With regards to the confrontation it was an observable incident where as the dead shot cop was hidden in the fog of violence.Since a timeline is mentioned it would be useful to provide that information as it was a unique circumstance. — Preceding unsigned comment added by UrbanCentrist (talkcontribs) 17:07, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
DBigXray I have added this one previously seeing the coverage by all prominent media, and also taking care of the WP:NEUTRAL and WP:NOTE polices for which name was not added. Someone might have added something else after my edits last night, for which the discussion is here now. My line was "In the afternoon, a shooter fired eight rounds of bullets indiscriminately and also pointed his pistol at a cop who was trying to confront him. The shooter was later identified and was detained and questioned about his intentions." Dey subrata (talk) 19:24, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Dey subrata, and UrbanCentrist please look at the big picture 25 dead and more than 200 injured. And here we are bickering about a guy who waved his gun and fired in the air (didn;t even kill or injure any one). I suggest we focus on other major points that need to be added. I really appreciate UrbanCentrist, patiently discussing this with me, unfortunately I am still not convinced if we should add it. Let me ask, are foreign media, Reuters, BBC covering this ? ⋙–DBigXray 19:29, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
No I am just saying that was my line, and if it could be added, secondly, I am also waiting for police to release any statement on identification of shooters in several incidents, then can be added I think. We can wait. Dey subrata (talk) 19:36, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yes i think it is preferable to wait.Should the other shooters be identified it would be not as important to cover this.--UrbanCentrist (talk) 02:50, 27 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hope the fact of foreign media coverage is not used as a measuring stick to edit the document and add facts. Foreign media is not free from biased reporting just as Indian media is not free from biased reporting. They are not a yardstick by any means. Also if Shahrukh the shooter has done nothing wrong then why was he arrested? He used an illegal country made weapon, brandished it and used it to threaten a police officer. All of the above mentioned are offences under Indian law.

Expanding the lead

User:QEDK can you help in expanding the lead to cover the article. The lead doesn't include anything about the violence. --⋙–DBigXray 21:48, 25 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

User:DBigXray With reference to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots and 2002 Gujarat Riots articles, is it really necessary to include the "Lead Figures" section in this article? Aswin8 (talk) 13:34, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The Delhi High Court has asked the Police to file cases against them for hate speech that caused the violence. ⋙–DBigXray 14:24, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
And just like in the above mentioned two articles, can that matter not be mentioned in the main body of the article, rather than in a half-filled section of "Lead Figures"? Aswin8 (talk) 17:33, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The other articles are different from this one. Here a protest was going on. And a leader brought his supporters to get engaged. Secondly, the other names mentioned who delivred hate speech which is now being asked by court to take actions. So appropriate enough to put it. Removing Kapil Mishra photo

The article in its current form has a lot of details other than the provocative statements by Kapil Mishra. His photo just takes most of the focus away from all those details, as if he's the most important part of the entire article. I say his picture should be removed. Discuss if disagree. —Sarvatra (talk, contribs) 06:27, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sarvatra, He is the central figure in this riot. He has to be mentioned and hence his pic is relevant. I have reverted the removal. I will add more quotes from Mishra. ⋙–DBigXray 06:34, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I am suggesting only to remove his picture, not any other content, as pictures grab focus. Makes the article look like more about him than anything else. —Sarvatra (talk, contribs) 06:46, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Sarvatra, I am against this proposal for reasons above. ⋙–DBigXray 06:48, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Sarvatra, DBigXray Probably the picture of the person, who is arrested for shooting the policeman, is more appropriate to show the sense of riots? Secondly why the incident is swept under the carpet in this article? —staryash (talk, contribs) 05:16, 27 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

What relevance does Amit Shah's photo have to the article? M4DU7 (talk) 09:41, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

M4DU7, he is calling the shots. ⋙–DBigXray 09:46, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Can you explain what you mean by "calling the shots" and why his picture is needed? M4DU7 (talk) 09:55, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Home Minister is the in-charge of Law and order in Delhi. He controls Delhi Police and all the central paramilitary fources like RAF, CRPF, etc. All the law and order meetings are being held under his chairmanship. Hence all the responsibility for allowing this riot to spread and the deaths directly falls on him. This is exacly the reason wby opposition parties are asking for his head.⋙–DBigXray 09:58, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
What the opposition asks for is hardly relevant here. I'd agree with you if the SC or HC called out Shah and held him responsible for the riot to spread. But otherwise, it is highly inappropriate to divert the focus to him. M4DU7 (talk) 10:15, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
M4DU7, I am expanding the content on Amit Shah and recent updates. Apparently Shah chaired 3 meetings in 24 hours, I will return to this discussion once ⋙–DBigXray 10:36, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
M4DU7 The article did not say that HM Shah is reposnsible, the photo clearly mentioned the law and order is his responsibilities, I don't see any confusion, CM Kejriwal used the CrPC section 130 and asked the para-millitary force from Shah, but he eventualy refused on 25th citing everthing was looked after. So yes, its very relevant to add the photograph of the person whose responsibilty was to maintain law and order. Dey subrata (talk) 20:21, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

He is not a central figure in the riot since lot of such inciting statements were made by saveral leaders.Lot of unnecessary fear-mongering was done which led to this riot. Priyaraj544 (talk) 20:15, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Priyaraj544, The riots started a few hours after his provocative speech. Please read the news of Delhi high court today. Even Hon. HC asked to file case for inciting the riot. ⋙–DBigXray 20:26, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
It would be better if this article is written without any self emotions and biasedness involved. Whole timeline should be mentioned from december protests, and provocative speeches made all over India, And pictures should be added more for the riots. Putting pictures of ministers totally takes away the story. Sra1du (talk) 01:37, 27 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Sra1du Yes the article is written in a unbaised way only, if someone did something wrong, it should be added, there is no baisedness in that. "..from december protests, and provocative speeches made all over India"- Does other leader brought their supporters by saying "come there with huge number and will reply the jaffrabad protesters" ? Does any other person give such ultimatum to police and directly challenging police if not protesters removed they will take law on hand? Did thakur, a&p verma deliver hate speech or not, and is there anyother leader who deliver such in Delhi? Who are the people against whom court asked police to take actions? Better get your rationale straight and discuss something better than whataboutism. And those picture are not taking anything away from story, no one forbade you to read the article and to just look at picture and even description in the picture clearly says what its describing. Dey subrata (talk) 04:05, 27 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Many Muslim leaders like owasi have made statements like "1 crore will be ruling 15 crore " This is not a mob reaction but a pre planned event by politicians . As an eye witness they have stored guns swords stones for this purpose. When police fires tear gass balls people cover them with buckets of cold water . From mosques one could observe their respectables asking people to go and fight for God . 103.211.16.206 (talk) 06:41, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Delhi riot 2020 though taken place in February 2020 was outcome of a continuous hate propaganda behind anti CAA protest by a particualar community. There were series of events whose dots when joined will give a clear picture of the agenda.

Major Political Parties in India lost to BJP and Allies twice and came back to power in 2019 again under leadership of Narendra Modi. His leadership was unchallenged and he successfully defeated many parties especially anti-nationals , naxal supporters. In the recent Delhi election though it lost to AAP but its vote percentage was about 40% and his opponents especially Congress and allies along with others got heavily rejected democratically by Delhians and merely got less than 3% vote.

Filled with frustration, loss, corruption cases ongoing, powerless and finding no place in democracy many started instigating illiterate Muxlims, students especially Left, Congress . Anti national slogans, placard, anti- religion slogans, slogans supporting Jihads were raised in many parts of India. First rioting happened in West Bengal where trains were burned down, stones were pelted on running trains, vehicles were torched,[ https://www.indiatoday.in/india/story/violent-protests-rock-west-bengal-mamata-banerjee-appeals-for-peace-1628325-2019-12-14 Government and Public properties destroyed], railway stations were damaged. Since no tough action was taken, it engulfed the country slowly and such negative forces tried to taste the same rioting everyplace. In UP it was dealt with strong police action, sending notices to those who damaged properties and arrests of those caught on camera. It was condemned by many pseudo secular, intellectuals but now it is thought that UP government's action saved lots of life and property unlike Delhi, West Bengal. Even in Delhi school buses were targeted with stones, journalist media vans were burnt live.

Radicals who were caught were found out to be radicalized and has PFI links. Fund of Rs.120 crores for rioting were found transferred by UP police and matter is in court. When the matter came to light, with finding of radicalization in Saheen Baag by leaders trying to break India by separating North East India from rest of India, anti CAA protest got exposed completely .

Top anti-CAA leader explaining how to bring down indian economy. Experts in destroying cultures nations.

What anti-CAA protests revealed

15 Crore Muslim threat! Waris Pathan

"Modi hitler wali maut marega" ... Protestors at Shaheen Bagh are shouting These slogans.

Delhi: ‘Hinduon se Azadi’ slogans raised at Jamia Nagar where anti-CAB protesters set buses on fire

Jihadi Slogans like Bharat Tere Tukre honge inshallah 1...

Bharat Tere Tukre honge inshallah 2..

F@ck Hindus.....

Tika Chaddi wallo Ko , Goli maaro saalo Ko,

anti CAA protest but Free Kasmir poster ,

Hinduo Ki Kabra Khudegi AMU ki chhati pe...,

Even after partition they want Jinnah walli Azadi....

Waris Pathan, AMIM radical party leader give hate speech that 10 crore Muslims will kill 100crore Hindus

Hinduo se Azadi.....

Love Pakistan & Pakistani only.

Hate Indian army, Government, Law, Court, Police,

Cut North East from rest part of India ..

Burning a Dalit for non-conversion.

Dalit person was killed named Niraj Prajapati

Amanatullah Khan, hate speeech.

Now anti CAA protest was dying while Narendra Modi was taking India ahead making friendship with other countries to fight terrorism , helping China on epidemic CORONA , taking out Indian Students there in China, also giving willingness to help the Students of Pakistan to get them out when Pakistani students were dumped by Pakistan in China. On the other hand Saheen Baag protesters were asked to carry on protests leaving the road empty as it caused traffic and matter went to the court. Jealous, envious to find Narendra Modi din't bother to hear them, and instead invited Americans who are best in dealing terrorists worldwide, many protests were led at other places including north-east Delhi to malign India internationally. But it was countered by pro CAA supporters who also want America to be friend with India like Russia ,agaist the protesters who sat on metro station, roads , or any comfortable place of their choice and trying to avoid president of America visit gets cancelled.

Fake Delhi Mosque demolished was circulated by radicals.

Pro CAA supporters also started protesting and rallying and were faced with stones. This was not the first time stones were used against pro CAA supporters. In Jharkhand a Dalit person was killed named Neeraj Prajapati by a piece loving minorities group which started pelting bricks on pro CAA rally. But in Delhi, the situation intensified , keeping in view the visit of American Presiden Donald Trump in India, which was opposed by Muxlims groups, Left learders openly. Finding that Government of India, and security agency, forces were busy in providing security to President of America, rioters (named Md. Shahrukh) went on rampage openly firing indiscriminately killing a cop, who was later caught due to a amateur videographer on camera live. This led police to use smoke along with pro CAA supporters joining police side and pelted bricks either to save their homes or themselves. Killing ,burning, looting was carried out in Chand Baag where IB official was killed by piece loving community. Many persons scumbed to death were found to have bullet injuries fired by rioters. Role of Tahir Hussain

The family of Intelligence Bureau (IB) officer Ankit Sharma who was brutally killed by rioters in Northeast Delhi’s Chand Bagh, has accused local AAP leader Tahir Hussain of being behind the attack. “Tahir Hussain the AAP councilor is behind the murder of my brother. Anti CAA protestors took my brother and three others to the building which belongs to Tahir Hussain”, Ankit’s brother was quoted as saying.

The family also alleged that the rioters were shooting from the AAP councillor's home and were also equipped with swords and petrol bombs. It added that Ankit was killed by the mob while he was trying to help civilians being trapped by the rioters.

Ankit’s father too pinned the killing on the AAP councillor and described how the family began fearing the worst at 2 AM on Wednesday (26 February). They were later informed of his death by one of their neighbours.

The family has alleged that Ankit’s body had bullet, stab wounds and his throat too was slit. The cops meanwhile have sent the body for a postmortem.

Ankit had joined the IB in 2017 and was posted as a driver in the MT department. His body was dumped in a drain by the rioters.[1]
