The 2023–24 Premier League will be the 32nd season of the Premier League, and the 125th season of top-flight English football overall. The fixtures will be announced on Thursday 15 June 2023 at 09:00 BST. Manchester City are the three-time defending champions, and will have a chance to become the first English football club to win four titles in a row.
This season sees return of the mid-season player break which will take place between 13 and 20 January 2024.[1] The Premier League confirmed that summer transfer window will open on 14 June 2023 and will close at 23:00 BST on 1 September 2023. The Premier League's winter window will open on 1 January 2024 and will close at 23:00 BST on 1 February 2024.[2]
Teams
Twenty teams will compete in the league – the top seventeen teams from the previous season and the three teams promoted from the Championship. As of 27 May 2023, sixteen of the seventeen returning teams have been determined, as they have earned sufficient points to guarantee they will not be relegated.[3] The promoted teams are Burnley, Sheffield United and Luton Town, who will return to the top flight after respective absences of one, two and thirty-one years. This will be Luton Town's first season in the Premier League. With their promotion, Luton Town will become the first team to have been promoted from non-league to the top flight during the Premier League era. They will replace Southampton, Leicester City and Leeds United who will be relegated to the Championship.
