This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Sleeplessmason (talk | contribs) at 23:48, 25 December 2023 (Informing about discussion on Clint Eastwood page image choice.). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

Hey FMSky, just wanted to let you know that the user was correct in removing the genres and was not a vandal. Ultimate Guitar is inadmissible as a source unless the genre was described in the context of a staff review, as opposed to a sidebar (this was the case) or user review. I know you meant well, and I watch all of Deftones' album pages, so I wanted to kindly clear that up. dannymusiceditor oops 03:00, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

DABRL

Hi, you made this revert citing MOS:DABRL. However, MOS:DABRL specifically states: "Red links should not be the only link in a given entry; link also to an existing article, so that a reader (as opposed to a contributing editor) will have somewhere to navigate to for additional information. The example given in DABRL also goes on to state: "If "flibbygibby" is not mentioned in the noodle article, or there is no linked article at all, as in the toy example, it is not a valid entry". In this case, the red link (Settle the Score (band)) is the only link in the entry, and there is no link to an existing article (blue link), contrary to MOS:DABRL. Edit about Cherry Pie Picache

Cherry Pie Picache's role in Batang Quiapo is a main character. 2001:4451:1230:3600:DD08:8211:9988:A804 (talk) 12:21, 2 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I see you reverted my edits at We Are Chaos again due to this source's presence under the reliable sources listed at Wikipedia:WikiProject Albums/Sources. I wanted to let you know that I have just started a discussion here questioning whether or not Sputnikmusic is a reliable source, if you would like to make any arguments for or against its use going forward. JeffSpaceman (talk) 20:47, 11 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It literally says it is reliable https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Albums/Sources --FMSky (talk) 21:52, 11 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I know that, and I am questioning its validity at the link I have provided. It is a self-published source that hosts a lot of user-generated content, so I don't see why it holds this status, which is exactly why I have opened up discussion here. If you have anything to argue for its continued inclusion, feel free to comment there. JeffSpaceman (talk) 21:56, 11 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Masterson RFC

Hi, I saw that you reverted my edit in the Danny Masterson Request For Comments, but you didn't say why you reverted it: can you please explain? Thanks, Chillowack (talk) 17:12, 14 September 2023 (UTC) This one? https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?diff=1175316857&oldid=1175292933&title=Talk:Danny_Masterson[reply]

Cause that looked like vandalism tbh, why did you remove all this stuff lol --FMSky (talk) 17:50, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry: you're saying my comment that I would omit the word "rapist" from the lede looked like "vandalism"? Remove what stuff? I didn't "remove" anything, I just added my vote. Why did you delete it?Chillowack (talk) 18:22, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
you mass deleted a bunch of stuff. click https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?diff=1175316857&oldid=1175292933&title=Talk:Danny_Masterson --FMSky (talk) 18:37, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

its shown in the edit history. accept it and move on --FMSky (talk) 19:01, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I don't "accept" it because I didn't do it. But I will move on to keep the peace.Chillowack (talk) 00:08, 15 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
FYI this is a common bug — Sometimes it publishes your comment but also deletes a bunch of stuff for no reason. I've had it happen too. –dlthewave 02:17, 15 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Candace Owens

Hello FMSky. I moved the info on Candace Owens blog back up to the "Degree180 and anti-conservative blog" section (she did not write the article about Trump's penis which seems to be implied in the language used) and added some language to the "Donald Trump" section noting her shift in attitude. I also restored the copy of the actual article which is useful. Per the archives, there is not record she wrote any articles about Trump.Patapsco913 (talk) 11:42, 16 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Saw your re-addition of the "vents" blog/"magazine"/whatever again. Prior discussions are here: 2016, February of this year and this month. Each evaluation was clearly that it is not reliable. This site is almost exclusively paid placement and spam, there are hundreds of ads on the usual sites for blackhat placement, and there is absolutely no indication of competent editorial control or disclosure of advertorials. Utter spam like this is common; I've removed the source hundreds of times. If you're seeing something that was missed by everyone else, let me know and we can start another conversation at WP:RSN with the alternate view. RFC sig

Hi FMSky. I think you need to add a signature to the RFC proposal at Talk:What Is a Woman?. The bot that copies it over to the central listings tries to grab everything before the first sig, and right now it's including your !vote. I'd recommend putting one right after "(or similar wording)". Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 12:50, 17 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Question

Have you setup a user email? Example, if you look at my home page then you will see a link on the screen to "email this user". Springee (talk) 19:09, 18 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

no, why? --FMSky (talk) 19:21, 18 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sometimes offline discussions helpful when discussing wikipedia without putting comments out in public. Note that a user can email you via the system and your email address is not shared. It's only shared if you reply. Springee (talk) 19:47, 18 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

MrBeast AI upscale

Replacement here wasn't a question of whether I'm a fan of AI upscaling, there was a small but strongly expressed consensus to add AI upscaling software should generally not be used to increase the resolution or quality of an old or low-resolution image. Original historical images should always be used in place of AI upscaled versions. If an AI-upscaled image is used in an article, this fact should be noted in its caption. to MOS:IMAGES last month.

That might benefit from another iteration or exception or a wider discussion, but that's what the MOS is saying right now. Belbury (talk) 17:19, 19 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello FMSky, my last revision was NOT misleading.. If you simply looked and read in the infobox Mark is indeed businessman and former rapper. Nothing was vandilism/misleading nothing. Kindly read before making such edits Juli Wolfe (talk) 18:49, 19 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The Departed

Hi, how do you mean it sounded better before? It said approval rating of 91% before. Nowhere on the rotten tomatoes site is it given approval rating. It is called tomatometer, which is the percentage of critics who have given a positive review for the film. Also, the number of critics has risen now, check the site. Plus I have added the percentage of critics who have given the film a positive review on metacritic site, which was missing before. Cinephile4ever 14:02, 27 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Your Understanding of WP:FOX

Hey, I saw your edit to the Tim Ballard article and wanted to provide you with a brief correction on your understanding of WP:FOX - refer to Note r. which states that "Local Fox affiliates are considered distinct from Fox News, and are covered by WP:NEWSORG." THese local affiliate stations are generally unbiased in their reporting and are distinct from the national network. LegalSmeagolian (talk) 16:01, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Watch carefully for reference removal

Respect your efforts to keep Wikipedia's infoboxes pristine, but in this case, it broke a reference elsewhere on the page. Just have a look to see if there's any cite errors in the preview before you cut a <ref>. BeReasonabl (talk) 03:43, 7 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Cont. deletion of Baylor's Title IX exemption to discriminate against its LGBTQ+ students

The exemption has been reported by multiple outlets and is national news, even leading members of Congress to write official correspondence to DOE themselves to demand an investigation of the exemption approval. I re-entered the information into the page with the news article cited like you asked. Let me know what else you need. This is not only national news with enormous implications for Title IX law and application across the country, but it's confirmed in media and in official correspondence from Baylor U President LL on the Department of Education OCR website.

Yes, it's a terrible look for Baylor, but they filed the exemption request and got it approved, so it should go on the page because it is seriously important and very official -- on the federal govt's website for perpetuity (will not be removed even upon Baylor request if they request DOE to revoke the exemption). FMSky, your edits to that section of the article were a violation of your community topic ban on Transgender related topics. Template on James Kinsella

Hey, FMSKY, I just noticed that you placed a warning about the James Kinsella entry, suggesting that James Kinsella may have paid to have it made. I am James Kinsella, and I can tell you that I did not. If you have any question or would like to speak with me directly, please let me know the best way to contact you. If it is through this Talk page, that’s fine; I will check back.

I have a long career, from journalism to business, and I’ve created some things I’m proud of, including MSNBC. But I don’t need publicity and would not pay for it, and certainly not for an entry in Wikipedia, which I use frequently exactly because it IS a respected source of objective facts.

Although I use Wikipedia frequently, I don’t know anything about editing content on it or responding to issues such as the one I am addressing now. I would very much appreciate your help in understanding how to proceed.

Thank you and I look forward to resolving the issue. 2601:600:9E80:E1D0:1C40:3734:F51A:2D7 (talk) 18:35, 17 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Don Ienner

Hi, I am Don Ienner's son helping my dad out with his Wikipedia article. Recently I posted a few suggestions to update his page. I saw that not so long ago you edited another music executive's Wiki page, Lou Adler, and thought you might like to help with editing Ienner's page, too. My understanding is that because of my conflict of interest I should not make any edits myself, therefore I am reaching out to you. Here is a link to my suggestions. Thanks so much. Why Doesn't Country Metal Have its Own Page?

Trying to look Country metal up just redirects me to the category Country metal albums. Two genres called Countrycore and Metalbilly used to have their own pages, but they've both been deleted. Could you do something about this? 50.168.195.246 (talk) 21:02, 9 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The images that you used to crop one of the Shirelles members might not be the right persons. FIFA's role in FIFA Ballon d'Or

Hello FMSky, I noticed that you reverted my edits (e.g. 1189704054) on the 2010 FIFA Ballon d'Or and 2015 FIFA Ballon d'Or pages without providing a reason. Could you please clarify why? Since the FIFA Ballon d'Or is a joint effort between FIFA and France Football, shouldn't the "main" hyperlink direct to the FIFA Ballon d'Or page rather than just the Ballon d'Or page for greater accuracy? Additionally, it seems odd that the "previous" link on the The Best FIFA Football Awards 2016 page is 2015 FIFA Ballon d'Or, yet there is no corresponding "next" link to the The Best FIFA Football Awards 2016 on the 2015 page. This omission appears to diminish FIFA's role in the award. I would appreciate your insights on this. Thank you. GbusLlb (talk) 07:00, 19 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I was mainly confused why you added "5th FIFA Player of the Year" in the infobox. Thats a different award, why would this be in the infobox? --FMSky (talk) 15:10, 19 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The confusion arises from the winner's 4th FIFA Ballon d'Or being labeled as his "5th award" in the infobox. A clearer representation might be to display "5th Ballon d'Or". However, this approach seems to underplay FIFA's role in the award, since it's a collaborative effort between FIFA and France Football. Initially, I added "5th FIFA's top player award" to the infobox to address this.
Later, I realized that using "FIFA Player of the Year" might be more straightforward. However, maybe it could be confused with "FIFA World Player of the Year". To resolve this, I'm considering creating a new page that summarizes FIFA's top player awards, rather than leaving it as a redirect page.
What are your thoughts? Should we use "4th FIFA Ballon d'Or" or "5th Ballon d'Or" & "5th FIFA Player of the Year" in the infobox? GbusLlb (talk) 10:08, 20 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Neither, i think "5th award" or "5th ballon dor" is perfectly sufficient for the infobox. its too confusing otherwise. maybe this can be discussed on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Football as well --FMSky (talk) 05:51, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Clint Eastwood Page Image Discussion

Hello User:FMSky,

I've started a discussion on the talk page of the Clint Eastwood article regarding the choice of the infobox image. I recently replaced the infobox image with a 1961 publicity photo from 'Rawhide', reflecting his early career, which I believe aligns with Wikipedia's guidelines for biographical articles ([WP:MOSBIO](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Biographies)). This iconic image from his notable early work might better adhere to the guidelines for image relevance as per Wikipedia's Image Use Policy ([WP:IUP](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Image_use_policy)).

I respect the value of having a more recent photo, but I'd argue that an iconic image can sometimes be more representative, especially for a public figure whose early career had a significant impact on their legacy. This perspective aligns with Wikipedia's No Original Research policy ([WP:NOR](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:No_original_research)), as it's based on Eastwood's notable history in the entertainment industry.

Your input is essential to reach a consensus ([WP:CONSENSUS](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Consensus)) on this matter. The discussion is taking place here: Discussion on Infobox Image for Clint Eastwood Page. Looking forward to your thoughts and participation in this first step informal course of action to resolve.
