Edit summary reminder
Hello. I noticed that your edit to USS Wisconsin (BB-64) did not include an edit summary. Please remember to use one for every edit, even minor ones. You can enable the wiki software to prompt you for one before making an edit by setting your user preferences (under Editing) to "Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary". This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Cleveland Police Department, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://ech.case.edu/ech-cgi/article.pl?id=CPD1. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. License tagging for Image:Lapdpolicebadge.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Lapdpolicebadge.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 22:15, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:LAPDpolicebadge.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:LAPDpolicebadge.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ilse@ 13:16, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Dodgerblue.

Sorry to drop you this note. It looks like you have got a few. We all get these when we start out as a new Wikipedian, and are finding our way!

I refer you to Template talk:Infobox Law enforcement agency#Simplicity and readability which raises an issue in part related to your edits to the infobox in California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

While the two templates {{Infobox Government agency}} and {{Infobox Law enforcement agency}} are similar, they are not the same. You need to check the relevant documentation for each template, which can be accessed by clicking on the links in the previous sentence.

More importantly, however, is that it appears that the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation is NOT a law enforcement agency. Accordingly, the infobox should be reverted back to {{Infobox Government agency}}. If, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation does have a law enforcement "division", and it is suitably notable, and warrants an article in it own right, then the {{Infobox Law enforcement agency}} template could be used in that article (with the parent agency set to California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation).

Cheers. Peet Ern (talk) 23:49, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

minor edits

[edit]

The two out of three edits you just made to Portland Police Bureau‎ are not "minor edits" as you marked them. See Help:Minor edit for clarification.

Also, an edit summary of "minor" is unacceptable. Please give the high-level summary of what you are doing. For this edit I would have written something like "upgrade from Infobox Police Department to Infobox Law enforcement agency; additional history". Otherwise, your edits look great! Thank you. —EncMstr (talk) 19:03, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Stop Please stop marking edits which add or remove content as "minor". —EncMstr (talk) 20:17, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please read template documentation

[edit]

Dodgerblue777,

I commend you for changing various deprecated templates to {{Infobox Law enforcement agency}} as you did in Portland Police Bureau, but PLEASE read the relevant documentation first. Unfortunately, your changes to the infobox in Portland Police Bureau were not fully compliant with the parameters for the new infobox. I have fixed the basic problems.

Please continue to replace deprecated infoboxes, but please read the relevant documentation first.

Cheers. Peet Ern (talk) 22:49, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:SDPD.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:SDPD.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

REQUESTED CORRECTIONS

Hello, I am writing to ask you make some corrections to our webpage.

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=14th_Armored_Division_%28United_States%29&diff=231747100&oldid=223978486

1. Please change the 14th Armored Division nickname back to all caps. That is the standard format for Special Unit Designations. 2. There has never been a 15th Armored Division in the US Army. The next division would be the 16th.

Thank you,

Hi - the Columbus change looks interesting, but the 3 state templates weren't readable. You might consider running those choices past one of the automatic contrast evaluators (I used one in a template a while back). Tedickey (talk) 21:28, 16 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Infobox WNBA Player

[edit]

Hello. I think something in Template:Infobox WNBA Player is causing the players' nationality to appear on the first line of their articles as well as in the infobox. See Helen Darling, Becky Hammon, Sandora Irvin for examples. I notice you've been working on this template recently and I don't want to mess with the code. Can you help? Thanks. [edit]

You have removed a number of redlinks from 32nd Infantry Division (United States) during the past few days. While I appreciate your good faith efforts to clean up the article, please stop. Per redlink guidelines, red links are appropriate when "a red link should be allowed to remain in an article if it links to a term that could plausibly sustain an article, but for which there exists no candidate article, or article section, under any name." Red links should only be avoided if an article "will never be created, including articles that do not comply with Wikipedia's naming conventions." The red links I left in the article were purposeful and indicated articles equivalent in value and notability to similar, existing articles already linked to within the article.

You also joined several paragraphs together, obscuring the distinctive ideas present in each paragraph, reducing the readability of the article.

Lastly, it would also be very helpful if you added comments to the Edit Summary field whenever you make a change. I have reverted all of your recent edits. -- btphelps (talk) (contribs) 00:36, 28 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:46 INF DIV SSI.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:46 INF DIV SSI.jpg.

--ImageTaggingBot (talk) 09:06, 30 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi

[edit]

Hello, I see you made a request at WP:FEED a long time ago, but have continued to be active on Wikipedia and made good edits to the encyclopedia. Since you have posted on WP:FEED in the past, I would like to suggest that if you want please try and help out at the page, as we have a massive backlog. It'd be really great if you provided some advice to other, new users on their articles.

To do this, you'll just need to take a look at their article, which they'll post the link to, and maybe see what perhaps can be improved, like adding sections, references or links, much like you would do with any other article, except you are giving feedback rather than making actual edits. After getting some idea of what needs to be improved, you just need to tell them briefly underneath. It's really simple but incredibly useful to new users and their articles, and helps to overall increase the quality of these new articles.

I hope you will at least consider, thanks. Please send me a message if you have any further questions. Thanks a lot! Chevymontecarlo 13:27, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Goran Visnjic

[edit]

Hey! I did a friendly revert, to coin a phrase, of one of your edits to Goran Visnjic. His military service for Yugoslavia was from late 1990 to late 1991, having turned 18 on 9/9/1990, so the statement about the Dissolution was necessarily vague, as iit was a process over a period of years. If you've read any interviews with GV he talks about being trained to do crowd control as a result of the country's tenor in the early days of the dissolution, then when Slovenia pulled away in late 1990 found himself retrained as a special forces paratrooper and sharpshooter, fighting against what he saw as his own countrymen. He later did service in the new Croatian army as well. (It's no accident the guy was once considered as James Bond -- he literally has nearly every skill Bond would have were he real.) Japanese air groups

[edit]

[2] You may already know this, but numbered Imperial Japanese air groups formed on or after 1 November 1942 weren't called "252nd Air Group" or "305th Air Group" as in being a result of sequential numbering. The individual numbers in each air group's name were actually discrete indentifiers with each digit representing separate information. Therefore, a more accurate rendering of their names would be "252 Air Group" or "Air Group 252." We probably need to place hidden messages in the article texts to let readers know that this is the case. Cla68 (talk) 07:12, 22 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Was wondering if you could help with a small edit to a season info box here. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Keith Hernandez, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Scots-Irish (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. 745th Tank Battalion and 1st Inf Div

[edit]

Hi Dodgerblue777!

Saw you added back in the infobox on the 1st ID to the article on the 745th Tank Battalion that I had deleted a while back. When I deleted it, I mentioned in the Talk section for the article that the 745th was an attachment and not an organic unit to the 1st ID. I also added that if we were to include all attachments and detachments for the 1st ID, the official order of battle published right after the war listed attachments and detachments for the division that ran to 4 pages! Thus, I thought (and think) the infobox is not relevant to the 745th.

Having said all that, I get your point. I think (hope!) I have found a solution that will keep us both happy. I have deleted the infobox again BUT in the summary paragraph I added in that the 745th was attached to the 1st ID for the duration of combat in the ETO, and pointed out that it was unusual for an independent tank bn to be attached to only one unit. Most developed habitual relationships with one division or other, but rarely to the exclusion of any other unit. This was particularly true of armor units, which were assigned to armored groups (The 745th was assigned to the 3rd Armored Group), but almost never fought organically to them; they would usually at most spend a few days back under group control them when they were relieved from the line to refit, perform maintenance, and integrate new replacement personnel. My proposed solution highlights the closeness of the relationship to the 1st ID, but keeps details of the assigned units (which the 745th was not) off the page. Readers are free to link to the article on the 1st ID to see more details of assigned and or attached units.

Full disclosure: my first assignment in the Army was to the 1st Inf Div (Fwd) at Panzer Kaserne in Böblingen, Germany. I was proud to wear the Big Red One, so this is no grudge against the 1st ID.

Hope this is satisfactory. If you still have heartburn let's discuss further and not play ping-pong with that infobox. best regards, Greg Bilhartz (talk) 06:44, 29 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

732nd Naval Air Group moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, 732nd Naval Air Group, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited USS Hornet (CV-8), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Presidential Unit Citation. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Your draft article, Draft:732nd Naval Air Group

[edit]

Hello, Dodgerblue777. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or draft page you started, "732nd Naval Air Group".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.
